We Bought A Fake Tyme Iron!

- Do "knock off" 2 in 1 straighteners and curling irons work? Today we are giving our review and tutorial of an off brand iron that looks a lot like the original Tyme iron called a "twist straightening iron."

As mentioned in our video, we were unaware that we were purchasing the "fake" until after we bought it. We had seen the ads on Facebook showing people effortlessly and quickly styling their hair with these irons and we wanted to try it. We thought we had bought it on sale, but later found out that the one we purchased was a knock off brand. Spoiler alert... the iron does work and we have learned to love the way it curls. But, we have only owned it for a few weeks, so I can't say how long it will last. I'm assuming the Tyme iron is built better and they offer a warranty. Also, 2 in 1 hair curlers and flattening irons that are set up like this have a pretty significant learning curve. It took me a lot of struggling to get it right. I've heard if you purchase a Tyme iron, they offer 1 on 1 tutorials through face time for free! The knock off versions do not offer that.

In our tutorial, we show how to use the iron on someone else (not yourself.) If you want to curl your own hair, the steps are the same, you just need to switch your thumb to the opposite side of the iron (behind the power button.)
P.S. The doll we used in this tutorial is called "my salon doll" (shop.mysalondol...) and has real human hair. Do not attempt to use heat tools on a regular doll... it won't end well!

I wasn't intending on buying the Tyme iron (would love to have it though) due to the price, but I came across another knock off brand on Amazon at a fraction of the name brand's price.
I did notice right off the bat that the one I purchased turned or curled in the opposite way that the Tyme iron worked so the tutorials I was finding were very confusing and frustrating for me.
So happy I came across your video! This one hands down is the best and easiest to follow. Very in depth!! I can't thank you enough! I was almost to the point of returning mine before watching this. Now I love it!
Yup did the same thing brought from fb ad which looked like the original but saw the difference and connected them of nothing wasted of money tried using didn’t work never use it. So watched many videos it does work but not the original 😢thanks for sharing

My mom got me the scammed one for Christmas and it doesn’t work. All ads are down and links are down. Losers!
I got scammed too. Saw an ad on Facebook. Just received my fake Tyme iron today. Paid $38 including shipping. My iron came in a plain white box wrapped in black plastic wrapping. The iron has no logo on it either. I kinda had a bad feeling early on that I was not going to receive a genuine Tyme iron. Took 17 days to get here. Thanks for sharing how to use it, but, it's still a fake. I don't even want to try it out. I just want my money back. Guess I will try contacting the real Tyme store and see if they can help in any way. Or, I paid through Paypal. They might be able to help me recoup my money. I hope..

Because it is a knock off and probably came from China, the degrees are probably in Celsius as that’s what the rest of the world uses besides us here in the US. so, 220 is approximately 428 degrees Fahrenheit!

I tried and tried and tried but I cannot do it 😪. I tried for days with your video on hand but no curls at all. I was hoping so bad that this would work. As I already have three straightners that curl yoyr hair that don’t work for me. So I am afraid it is just me ..... i dont understand. I wanted it so bad to work for me 😪

@@hair4myprincess I never have done my doll's hair. I think dolls are creepy anyways. Why didn't you show how to do it on your own head.
I bought the knockoff version by accident not realising the real price of the Tyme iron as I would of bought the proper one . So anyway I decided to give it a go as it was here at my door I found it to catch my hair I did get a curl but I also realised it was giving me split ends anyway I turned it off and went downstairs left it plugged in as I do all my appliances went to bed that night got up in the morning got washed and dressed went to do my hair again as the curl had all fallen out and the handle was hot on the appliance straight away I unplugged it this is a death trap waiting to happen and I hope that nobody else comes to any harm with these dodgy appliances from China hope to God someone puts a stop to them a very lucky consumer .
I still can't figure mine out. I bought this to do to my own hair. Why show you working on a doll instead of your own head. The angles are completely different, I would assume.
At the beginning of her video, she tells you why. And also explains that if you are doing your OWN hair, you put your thumb behind the on/off switch. When doing someone else's hair (which is what she is demonstrating with the doll) you reverse the hold. Angles are the same though.
