Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine. It can happen when you are young, or it can happen when you are older and have bad posture or a leg length difference. This can cause the muscles on one side of the back to be tight and/or the muscles on the opposite side to be too weak. These stretches are for postural scoliosis.
Start off sitting in a chair. You can stretch just the side that is tight, or you can stretch both sides. Stretching the quadratus lumborum (QL) helps relax the muscles on the side of the spine.
You can also do an active stretch, which is moving your whole trunk and arms while rotating. This is also a great way to stretch the trunk muscles. Roll downs help get the muscles close to the spine stretched out.
The next stretches are on the floor. If you can’t get on the floor, you can do them on your couch or bed. Stretches like the cat/dog, way the tail, prayer, and side to side prayer stretch will help loosen up the muscles in the back and around the spine.
Some of the final stretches are a little more intense, so make sure you are ready to stretch that much before trying them.

Right. It's a relief to know it's not just you. In my community, of small minded people judge hardy, people would judge you just for running, thinking you're above them all, but when in reality, your just trying to get better.

Bro these actually work, I was litterally dying of pain
I only recently developed and C-Curve I’m glad I found this video and really got to stretch myself out. I’m inside a lot, so this is very helpful.
So glad I decided to look up videos on how to treat this. Recently in 2019 my car was slammed into by an SUV going 90 mph while I was completely stop and got xrays my back and showed scoliosis big S curve and 2 to stretch disc and herniated discs , these simple workouts feel intense even after a year

I struggle with a 40°, that was from 2 years ago, so I’m sure it’s worse, but thank you so much! I just started work and been crying almost every shift because of it! Many doctors can’t prescribe the right meds for sleep, pain etc so this really helped!! physio and chricop, aren’t that helpful.

i needed this. i did go to a therapy for few months but my back still feel that crumpled feeling and mothings really happening.
I was recently diagnosed with mild curved scoliosis. I get unbearable pain when sitting on my desk, and these are the first stretches that I’ve tried that actually help my pain go away. I am left with mild discomfort, but Tylenol usually helps with that. Thank you!

Thank you so much!! I’ve been in debilitating pain in my lower back from my scoliosis, but chiropractor services are not covered for me and muscle relaxers do nothing but make me feel weird.. This was the first thing that helped at all, I was able to do all of them, except the tail wagging one hurt too much for me. Anyways thank you for some relief. 😌

But I have scoliosis AND I have laxity of all of my ligaments, so I have a very hard time stretching because my joints just overextend. - Begin the exercise by standing on your feet about shoulder- width apart and keeping your left hand on your hip.
- Now, reach up with your right hand as much as possible and bend over TOWARDS THE LEFT SIDE while keeping the shoulders in line with the hips.
Is it towards the left side or towards the side of curvature - right side?

Thanks, and you're welcome. No, if you have a right sided curve, you want to stretch the tight side (which would be the opposite side), not the curve side. If you can, the best option would be to go see a physical therapist in person for treatment because every curve is different, and at different levels.

I have had Scoliosis all my life, i had a fusion in 1996, when i was 14, now im almost 39, and i know i need another fusion, i did some of these stretches, a couple i know i'm not ready for and because my spine leans over to my left if feeling pressure on my left thigh, now i feel a little bit better not much, give me a week and hopefuly i can give you a better update
