    I'm glad you showed the struggle with the seconds hand, it took me longer to set the seconds hand than the rest of the build. Very hard to do and see.

    Hey! Thanks for the video! Could you help me with my problem? The outer diameter of the nh35 is 29mm and the inner diameter of my case is 30mm. There was a plastic ring with my case but i didnt know how to put the movement into the plastic spacer. The movement seemed way to big for the spacer. Also i broke it and do not know what they call it to rebuy it. How does it fit into (or onto) the movement?

    Rodico...TINY piece you can hardly see is all you need for PUSHING the hands using the Rodico hold the hand on end of the pusher just to barely hold the hand. That's just to hold it on the pusher. I also use Rodico like you do to pick up the hand with my other hand, but you can also find it more easy to use a piece of Rodico shaped like a toothpick if you just want to pick up the hand. Not such a big blob of Rodico. :) As in this video: ruclips.net/video/kammiYRYdB0/видео.html for using Rodico to place the seconds hand.

    Great video! Finally a detailed breakdown of all the parts needed. Do you think a movement spacer is needed when building a NH35?

      The grey plastic ring (sometimes black plastic) around the Seiko NH35 movement IS the movement spacer. If one was using a case for a build that was not made for a Seiko NH35 or 36, you could be in for a world of pain. As the movement was Seiko and the dial face was Seiko, the feet lined up just fine. Frequently, dials don't line up with various movements- ie: like using a Miyota or ETA movement with a Seiko dial. if that's the case, you either need to trim the dial feet off, solder on a new set of dial feet in the correct position (approx. + - .05 mm!) or the 'quick cheat way' is to use double stick pre-cut rubber strips or 3M pre-cut round double stick Bezel tape.. It's a 'cheat' but with the face-attached to the movement with double stick, it should sit snugly against the chapter ring which will hold the dial and mechanism -with the correct movement ring- in place. DO NOT try epoxy or Jeweler's glue as it will wind up on the dial face and/or in the movement. Some movements don't use movement rings and have two inlets- left and right- to attach two screw-down metal fingers that should engage a lip in the case to hold the movement. Other cases may come with a 'generic' plastic movement ring you'll spend an hour trying to make work with a file, X-Acto blade or Dremel.
      Also, many movements with day/date wheels need a metal spacer ring on top of the dial so there isn't excessive pressure on the day/date wheel when the face goes on - which would keep the date wheel from turning or possibly not aligning the day window correctly. If you want to do Mods, stay with ALL Seiko parts for at least your first 3-5 mods-as everything will fit. Also know that the cheaper hand sets may have out of spec holes that look very close. the Seiko specs are hour hole is 1.50mm - minute hole is 0.90mm and 0.20mm- to 0.22.022-.023 for the seconds hand tube.
      The Seiko sizes are very close to Miyota's Minutes: 1.00,- Hr 1.52,- Sec .17. It's not unusual to order a Seiko hands set to find that the mfr. tossed in a .17mm Miyota seconds hand. You can break off the seconds hand pinion end trying to fit a 'too small' hand'
      PS: a little 'trick' when setting hands- take a Bergeon Plastic face protector and cut it into a circle just small enough to fit inside raised numbers or hour indices on the face. Put it on the face BEFORE setting the Hours hand. the thickness of the plastic protector will keep you rom setting the hours hand too deep and scratching the dial with the hours hand. when the hours hand is set, gently pull the plastic protector out with wood or plastic ended tweezers. These faces-especially the lacquered ones scuff and scratch really easily.
      Good Luck!

    Should there be a ring that holds the movement securely in the case?

    • @WatchConstruct
      @WatchConstruct  3 месяца назад

      It depends on the case- sometimes yes! Many times no

    Why can't you pull the crown out in the hacking position? Why does the second hand have to be moving when you remove the crown??

    • @geraldgallagher6365
      @geraldgallagher6365 10 месяцев назад +1

      Seem to remember on other modding videos that if the crown is not in 1st position a lever moves across and blocks access to the "button" that needs to be pressed down to allow crown and stem to be removed completely.

    This is amateur hour. Why use a Rolex watch case and hands but a Seiko dial instead of Rolex? Would you put a Mercedes logo on your Rolls Royce hood? Buy a SKX 007 case with S (Seiko) crown next time.

      Fella not pretending to own a Rolex, seiko movement with a seiko dial makes sense, a case is a case. Putting a Rolex logo on it just makes you look like you’re wearing a fake Rolex
