The reason I couldn’t shade is because to or from which direction are these lines going or ending. This to you I learned to use guide lines even more

This was a tremendous help in my understanding of light/shadow on spheres. I've been looking all over for 1 drawing video with an approach to shading spheres in all angles and couldn't find any OR get the hang of it. Glad I finally stumbled across this video. It's also a major bonus to get help from a fellow black artist :)

Alphonso Dunn, i know that thousands of people would agree with me when I say that you should create a FULL pencil and pen drawing course. You have a gift of teaching. I am very structured in the way I think and need a step by step a structured VIDEO course to learn drawing from the very beginning to the advanced levels of both pencil AND pen drawing. Do you have near future plans to make an entire drawing course? Thanks

I have both books! I love your teaching and style! I need to go back to these books ...I have found some practice papers slipped into the books which I created! Which look pretty good but have neglected following my skills! I flit from different mediums which can be incorporated! I need to slow down and master one then bring the skills together....but I do love ink and watercolour! Thank you! Your books are now on top of my pile of art books ..a bit of watercolour to the ink is amazing!

Once again, great tips! The grid on the globe is a great tip that will help me to improve. Cross contour lines lain down in graphite are something I've never thought of.
I was wondering about the thumbnail picture on this video. Is that the ball that you were holding? Or is it a drawing? If it is a drawing, is it pen or pencil? Because I wanted to see how one can do that kind of shading in pen and ink.

Hi Alphonso.. out of curiousity. how do you manage to jumble your time between a working person, doing household chores and still be able to have time to draw everyday?
i always manage to destroy habit of drawing everyday as I could not jumble different tasks effectively such as working 8 hrs, (add another 4 hrs for transport to and fro of work). then still have to do research for work, prepare next day food. then i suddenly realize I dont have time enough to practice for the day as I need to go to bed then.

  • @VeryBlueBot

A silly request - A lot of times I try to figure out what pen size you are using (I know its not the most important thing, and yet) and trying to get a glimpse of the Micron size label on the side of the pen.. for some cosmic reason its ALWAYS ! turned away from the camera :/
If you could turn the pen so the size label will face the camera (up and a bit to the left) that would be amazing :)
    p.s
Iv'e noticed the pen almost never really rolls in your hand while you draw (thus never showing the size if was hidden at start) so if you just turn it at first you could
forget about it for the rest of the tutorial
    p.s2
Love you channel! love your books! Keep up the amazing work :)
