This was hugely helpful. I’m often the Zoom admin while also presenting, so I’ve been struggling with only being able to see my presentation, not also the chat.
This is great. I run a virtual financial advisory business. When doing presentations I often have a slide deck and other pieces of content to share. This video has been extremely helpful to me to make a smooth virtual presentation. Cheers!

Thank you for your quick response to my question I am excited yet nervous at the same time for my presentation tomorrow. But I guess this is all part of growth! You have a new follower!
Unfortunately I have not managed presenter view on Zoom. I have chosen presenter view on my PC but on my laptop (simulation of ZOOM's participant) still I see the same view as PC.. Any ideas what I should do? :)
Thank you for emphasizing vocally what audience sees. I saw a couple of other videos and still was unsure that only the slide would show and not all the notes. It's better to have reassurance for high stakes presentations.
i have a zoom presentation this week, how can I do a practice run on a zoom room? I obviously can't practice on the actual zoom invite, any tips will be greatly appreciated, thanks
Great video. However when I switch to presenter view, my whole screen including my presenter notes are seen by zoom attendees. It does not merely show the slide.
@@dsokus1812 there's only one way to share your screen and hide your notes in presenter mode: when you share your screen, go to "Advanced" instead of "Basic" then select a portion of the screen (you crop the screen to show only your slide). It's not great but certainly useable. Good luck.
@@marcad8266 thank you. So, does that make what Scott says in this video useless about first choosing the powerpoint presentation file, then choosing Set Up Slide Show, then choosing 'Browse by Individual (window)"? And having only the Powerpoint slide showing....leaving you to be able to open up a word doc. etc.?
If you broadcast the wholee screen, and move the zoom gallery view window (from another monitor) into that view, does the zoom gallery view get broadcast as part of your sharing? I can't find a definitive answer. Thanks.
How do I present and have my face presenting like your little square on this video? Is this possible to do live in Zoom, or can I only do that while recording in Canva?
This is an awesome video. I am so glad I found what I was looking for right away with my search. So it's also keyworded really well. Thanks for making this available.
Good afternoon Scott, I am eager to try this last trick you have given us. When I go and select my Power Point to share (so my face is in front of my PowerPoint" I get : Unable to import "PPT 12 2023.pptx". What would you suggest I do?
This could be due to various reasons. To troubleshoot: Make sure your PowerPoint file is not open in another application. Rename your presentation file with a simpler name (avoid special characters or spaces). Ensure your Zoom and PowerPoint software are up to date.
OK I'm a little confused. I get the whole share PowerPoint instead of screen. Why would I want to overlay myself on my presentation, when viewers could already see me on the right side of the zoom screen? Also when presenting in this mode, will I continuously see user camera boxes & chats on right side of the screen? I'm really not liking having to toggle the drop down menu on top of the zoom screen during my testing.
Great Video!! Question: While in the "Advanced Tab", I really like the look of my face without a box around it. When I record screen, I can't see my curser if I'm trying to point to things in the powerPoint presentation. Is there any way to access the mouse pointer and the "Annotate" bar like I can when I simply "Share my full screen"? Thank You
HI Scott, this was great! Thank you. I have a Live Zoom webinar in a few days and I will be presenting in powerpoint. I have decided that I will use option 3 you mentioned, and once I choose to Share my PowerPoint presentation on Zoom...I"ll then select: 'Browse by Individual (Window)" in the Set up. I have a lot of content to talk about and need my Word Doc in front of me! My questions are: 1. With this option, does that mean, that my participants won't see my face? 2. HOw do I swap back and forth with presenting this way, and then, showing my face occasionally (otherwise quite boring to see slides for 1.5 hours). Thanks! Jenny
No problem, Jenny. Your regular Zoom webcam will continue to be displayed to your audience. As long as you have your camera on at the beginning of the meeting, participants will be able to see it. Wishing you all the best with your webinar!
@@Simpletivity Thank you Scott! I ended up mucking it up a bit ! I chose ' Share Portion of Screen' ( couldn't find the Browse Individual! Got nervous), but had not had it in Presentation Mode to begin with...so, though I was able to set it so audience only see the powerpoint - it was my PPT project, NOT my 'Presentation Mode' with all the animations! In any case, I could see my notes, and it went super well. I'll know next time. I'll watch your great video again to be sure I get it right next time!! Cheers, Jenny
Great little video tips. Can you confirm what happens when you record a zoom meeting using presenter mode, because when I do this the image of the slide is degraded (it looks like it's expanding a single image across the whole screen and the harness gets much worse. Can you also suggest how to change the size on the presenter when using presenter mode?
Hello sir, thank you for this. I'm an online tutor, while sharing PowerPoint on Zoom, I would want my students to answer questions by clicking on the answer. How possible is that?
The best way to do this with Zoom would be by creating a poll. You can find out more details here: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/213756303-Conducting-polls-in-meetings
I was hoping this was a video which included the use of Presenter View - and hopefully seeing windows for Chat and Participants on right hand side too.
I wanted to ask if we can also talk in between the PPT while sharing it power point because I'm having trouble in it and also that people cannot see my presentation. It works fine for me but doesn't works for others TT
Hi, thank you for this. I took down notes. I wish to ask, how about if I have a PowerPoint presentation designed with instrumental music. Can I use the Virtual Background so that I'm in front of the presentation while singing the song
I'd recommend having a color contrast between your hair and your 'real-life' background. This can help the software to make a better distinction between where you end and the background begins.
Outstanding tips! Thank you! I use Keynote on Mac. Are you aware of a Browse by an Individual setting in Keynote? I may have to revert to PPT for my presentations!
Scott, this is an excellent tutorial. I have one question. What if I am recording my presentation on Zoom? Can I still use my notes without them showing up?
I've just noticed that the option for Presenter View to ONLY display the current slide to your Attendees (and not all the other text which is for your eyes only) only works in certain situations. It works if you do the Share Screen command BEFORE going into Presenter Mode. If you want to get the slide show ready first by putting it into Presenter Mode, then Zoom shows everything - not just the current slide ..... but all the other items which are meant to be hidden. Has anyone else noticed this anomoly? Is there a workaround, because I don't want my viewers seeing my document before it goes into the single slide mode I intend for them to see (via Presenter Mode)?
Either way it shows all the window with the notes you don't want to share. I don't understand how not to share the notes and comments. It simply doesn't work.
Thanks for the video! Unfortunately, the new feature - presenting Microsoft PowerPoint during a Zoom meeting - is far from perfect and is very, very "beta". If one wants to present a PPT slideshow using various animation and transition effects (which are indispensable in order to achieve some pedagogic aims ), ZOOM neutralizes them all and just allows jumping for slide to slide. This makes the "innovation" absolutely useless. Th e ZOOM team needs to works hard to seamlessly integrate the PPT shows with all their features.

Same here. I don't think it's possible not to share the side notes contrary to what's claimed in this video.
