So I am eighty years old and had an XK-140 Jaguar (one lap at Laguna Seca) and an E-Type Jaguar., on the Autobahn. If I had any choice it would be the older Stradale. So it is a little slower. So am I. But it has the looks, and the panache. More mature and smoother. It talks to me.

You are all missing the point, this is a version of the first generation 33, later ones had the Flat 12 with 500bhp, this has a V8 with 200 ish, put the QV up against one of those, or drop the F12 into the Stradale. Ive seen the Stradale both at G.F.S. and in the Alfa Romeo museum in Milano.

The Alfa 33 was also a very capable race car. The Miura never competed, it was made for rich kids who just wanted to show of, it was a hell to drive like all Lamborghinis. Alfa were intended for tracks and pure driving fun together with performance.

If it was nearly any other circuit, like Imola or Mugello the Stradale would win so easily, that chassis is designed for pure racing, the new Giulia obviously gains in straights, not a fair comparizon imo

Took me a while to figure out this was game footage. Very good vision, though the Giulia coming out of the prima variante plowing a furrow twigged me. It also explains the Tipo 33 bogging like a bastard off the start.. 👍

In questo video qualcosa non mi convince. Ho l'impressione che lo scopo fosse quello di dimostrare la superiorità stradale della nuova Alfa Romeo Giulia rispetto alla leggendaria "33 Stradale". Considerato che: 1) la 33 Stradale ha un peso di 600 kg e una potenza nominale di 230 hp, una posizione molto bassa del baricentro, buona efficienza aerodinamica, architettura delle sospensioni tipica delle vetture da corsa; 2) la Giulia ha una potenza di 550 hp, ma un peso di 1700 kg, baricentro elevato, sospensioni ottimizzate per scopi di guida diversi dalla velocità in pista; non credo che l'esito del confronto, che consiste in una differenza sul giro di circa 14 secondi, sia realistico.
Lo scopo non era assolutamente dimostrare la superiorità della Giulia rispetto alla 33 stradale (che personalmente preferisco). Il risultato è il frutto della simulazione di due auto sviluppate dalla Kunos quindi native del simulatore; dovrebbe quindi esserci un reale rapporto nelle prestazioni, ma ciò non toglie che essendo una simulazione, le cose nella realtà possano andare diversamente e la differenza sul giro sia inferiore 😉

old one need some tuning ,because it iso much more beutiful and does not deserve to be overtaken by a sedan.
I love both, but while the guilia makes me go half mast, the old 33 makes me go full throttle. I'm a Healey guy though, my hundred is perfect for me.
