- Well I strive to bring you all the fun moments of owing my boosted mustang and sometimes things happen that aren't so fun today I try and figure out what happened with my supercharged 2019 Mustang GT after a flashing check engine light appeared during a race against a 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat Daytona. The code is P0300 it reads as a random multiple cylinder misfire. The car drives fine but I am un easy about pushing her hard till I have some idea of what caused the code to appear.

**something breaks in the Mustang**
*HEY GUYS, CHRISFIX HERE!*
Poor charger didn’t deserve that beating
Hemi vs. Ninja it’s stock it did good
Its a 5.7 stock 🤣
Love how my boy rush gives the smoke out to anyone out in these streets😂💯
Fernando Lopez he’s gangster
@10:21 .... that’s called “Social Distancing”. 😂
First. Check spark plugs for signs of something else
Second. Higher flow cats. You have too much power.
Third. Get a custom tune. PBD or Lund
Forth. Please upgrade OPG's
Fifth. Run thicker oil. 5w50, unless you already are
Sixth. Have fun! Stay safe!
Also, check to see if you are burning oil. If you are. Compression test needs to happen. Oil in combustion chamber from blow by can soak your plugs and cause misfires. that means oil is getting past the rings. You would see white smoke from exhaust more than likely. Hopefully its just cats over temp and only throwing a code when they are too hot but they may be breaking up at this point.
That rattling noise Sounds like your catalytic converter braking up
Them fat pops probably made the cat blow up lol
You remember all those cool pops and burbles you could hear really well with your corsa extremes? That's a no go with cats. Your cats are doneso.
I always have heard that crackle tunes annihilate cats
@@mustang2O2O I mean you literally have explosions happening at the point where it should really just be hot gas going through the cats lol
I got the same check engine light and it flashes when I would get on it and pass 3,500 rpm, it told me it was cylinder 2 that was misfiring and it says online that the cats where being damaged so basically the car goes into limp mode, so it turned out that I needed to replace all of the spark plugs and now it runs back to normal.
you have a manual or auto?
Did you get a low oil preasure light too ? cause i have my car in the dealership right now and its doing that
I believe its the cats too... especially since your car runs rich on deceleration with all the pops and crackles. That will cause the cats to clog and fail.
Rattle might be from the exhaust maybe something wasn’t tightened all the way after you changed it back to stock
That's what I thought. He just changed his exhaust & all the vibration from running it hard may have loosened it up.
This exact thing happened to me last week bro... it’s one of your coils, the smoke out of the exhaust is from the fuel bypassing combustion and spewing into your exhaust system. If you changed the spark plugs and accidentally placed that bad coil into another cylinder it’s going to read Multiple misfire too. While it’s idling disconnect the wire to coil on each cylinder and watch for the one that causes no change to the RPM.
He can take it into Ford and have them do a power balance test they will tell him which cylinder ect
Is this an expensive fix?
Are you noticing any sulfur/rotten eggs odor? That’s another telltale sign of cat failure. Also what is your vacuum pressure at idle?
10:15 rush saw an RT Drod in his rear view and knew it was go time LMAOO
“Ohh I’ll smoke u” comedy
7:04 his voice cracks when he says engine bay 😂 love your channel rush
The rattle could be pieces of your cat bouncing around inside it's chamber.
I saw that charger sneaking up ...lol , well done bro
Good thing you're a good RUclipsr , this video alone will pay to fix it. Keep creating content 💯
Lmao saw him coming from a mile away lmao soon as i saw him behind you i was like hes going to try and run it
Since it’s a P0300 and not a 301-308 I would rule out spark plugs or wires coil packs or injectors. Those tend to isolate a cylinder . Normally this is a fuel issue, likely low fuel pressure. Try and log some runs to see your duty cycle on injectors .
The rattling almost sounds like an exhaust leak . Did you replace the exhaust gaskets , they are usually one time use if crushed .
Edit: you might need to get retuned with stock exhaust . Air in vs Air out has changed so the fuelling might be off now. But then again I’m not a mechanic just know that’s what happened with my Subaru .
01GTB Daily he’s rocking with stock exhaust now
Bro your video’s inspire me more and more and convince me to keep pushing my channel, keep up the good work brotha keep giving them the grapplee’s haha. But Heyy soon I want to pro charge my SS so stay tuned maybe we can get some runs one day for both our channels that’d be dope asf, but anyways loved this video can’t wait for the next one & GOD BLESS 💯💪🏼🏁
LMAOOO it’s amazing how rush just smokes a random guy for no reason
I doubt if it is the cats. When a cat goes bad you will get either a P0420 or P0430 code or both. The two codes will depend on which side of the engine it comes from. If you get both codes, then neither cat is performing as it should. Those codes to be specific identifies the problem as "Catalytic Converter below threshold". I own a supercharged Mustang. Although it is only a V6, that produces about 450 HP to the tire, the factory cats weren't designed for that power level and I smoked both of them. I solved the problem with Kooks Green Cats and installed an exhaust system that is bigger than stock. What you have is a P0300 which is a random misfire. The causes of your problem are as follows:
Faulty or worn spark plugs *
Faulty spark plug wires or coils *
Faulty fuel injector *
Vacuum leak
Low fuel pressure
Camshaft sensor defective
Crankshaft sensor defective
Engine timing off (tuning related)
Leaking head gasket
Low engine compression (Possibly caused by spark knock)
Poor quality fuel
The first thing I would do is check to make sure there's no damage the motor. The rattle you hear is the exhaust system rattling as a result of an idle that isn't smooth. The first thing I would do is a compression test and then I would look at the cylinders with a borescope camera. The borescope camera isn't expensive. What you're looking to do is making sure you didn't damage a piston as a result of spark knock. If you can eliminate damage from knock, look at the other causes on the list. Good luck to you. The list above will be a good starting point.
When you just cruising along and all of a sudden You put three buses on somebody 😂😂😂
Dude never keep a stock exhaust with that setup, learned the hard way.
He was forced to by the cop's
@@karlhopkins713 Well, he'll be forced to pay a lot of money for a new engine if he doesn't remove his cats. Hard price to pay living in California, but if you want big and reliable power you have to remove all of the restrictions from your exhaust so you don't burn up your motor. Not worth the risk.
@@jonasblane2157 i agree cat delete ftw
@7:04 that voice crack tho xD
StrugglePuff 😂
you have the stock exhaust on bro pushing all that power that’s the equivalent to you running a marathon with a elevation mask you engine needs to breathe
1. It's a F.O.R.D
2. Side boo put some voodoo on that mustang 😂🤣😆😁
3. Keep this good content coming👍👍👍
I took the cats off of my 2017 whipple GT with the stage 2 and it was ridiculously loud with my Roush axle back and x pipe resonator delete setup. My friends could here my car 5-6 blocks away in the middle of the night and it was honestly nascar level loud. But I added a Magnaflow tru x resonated x pipe today and the car is extremely quiet now. It sounds like it is a completely stock car with just roush axle backs and no other exhaust mods. I recommend it for you to prevent cat failure and if you want your car to sound stock for cops in Cali.
This is how you check your cats. With the car at operating temperature, shoot an infrared thermometer at the exhaust piping in front of and behind the cat. Compare the two readings. Your temps should be higher coming out of the cat, and the temperature differential shouldn't be significantly different from the other cat.
If your in e 85 maybe it ruined a O2 but your on whipple tune I seen and heard nightmares with there tunes.
That’s wat I like to see you handing out gaps in the video.😂
3 Buses on Him...!!!! LMAO Congratulations on your new subs... Probably your converter is coming apart and blocking that side of the exhaust.. I bet it was glowing red that night..
DANG RUSH CHILL😂😂
Awesome car bro, it sucks that little things keep happening. You’re basically driving with my dream mods lol. I have an 18 GT that I just put wider tires on, with your tires did you have to put on any mud flaps or anything to prevent dirt and dust from getting all over the car?
The inside of the cat is dead. Put your corsa back on bro!!!! Yes there was smoke coming out of your exhaust when you pulled over and rev’d
That was funny when that charger tried to race you lol. What you did is what i would of done too haha.
Do you have an issue where if you turn the interior light levels all the way to max then the El Wire kinda of flickers? I have to turn mine down just a little above max to make it not do that. I was just wondering if my power adapter was somehow faulty or if you ran in to the same thing.
I had the same exact thing you got with the check engine light when I did a few runs. I pulled over turned off the car and turned it back on and it was totally fine. Never had anything come out the exhaust like you have. But that was maybe about 3 months ago. It’s more than likely a one time thing.
Same thing here...p0300...on a high temp humid day. Had just filled up on tank of cheap gas 93. Car runs fine cleared code hope it is a bad fuel issue. cel not coming back on yet. 19 PP1 only 13k mileage.
When you take the srt to Mexico do you manually switch gears? Or do you use the ratios out the box
"Yeah its supercharged, that's why I put 3 busses on you" 😂😂
BTW...Love the lesson you taught the charger. I taught a Hellcat Charger a lesson a couple nights ago😈
Bro the hellcat was stock, 4 door sedan, and had passengers in the back seat. The races were pretty close and in my opinion the hellcat took most runs. I'm a fan of both. Don't be a fan boy and brag about a race when the mustang has a stage 2 supercharger.
Ivan Pena who problem is that
Ivan Pena right? Barely lost to a hellcat the other day in my van. But I’m 100% stock N/A and he’s got a supercharger delete. I had 7 ppl with me and still kept up. Hell, we probably weigh the same tbh. Sad
Check engine light comes on
Rush: Yep, still there
You still racing the challenger? 👀 I’m down for some runs in my mk7.5 R manual or 5th gen camaro ss auto. Lol both not stock
Awesome content once again, brother. I'm curious, after multiple back to back WOT pulls is their any noticeable loss in power? Just wondering how the Gen 5 Whipple handles heatsoak. Keep up the good work!
We usually run at night and the weather is pretty cool the car doesn’t feel like it’s heat soaking since it is constantly getting fresh air at 100+ mph
@@RushShift Nice. One more question, which heat exchanger did you opt for from whipple? The standard HE with fans, or the upgraded larger HE without fans?
Rush,
Should have told the charger you were stock lol. It does seem like something is up with you cats failing. You could always swap the exhaust back to aftermarket one you had on before to see if the code remains and also to inspect those cats. As for the engine code, perhaps logging your drives and sending it to the tuner will reveal more information on the misfire. A dyno comparison with stock exhaust vs aftermarket will reveal how much the power difference is.
Stock Whipple tune runs rich af to protect the engine but not rich enough to cool the cats properly so 9 times out of 10 it’s a bad cat all that back pressure isn’t helping either. Maybe having the Corsa exhaust on helped it but after putting that restrictive stock exhaust back on probably sent it all the way
Check the spark plugs that could be the reason for the misfire
10:12 that's why I subscribed 😂 love your content rush
I have found from experience the more power you throw at your car the more unreliable it becomes. Since I boosted my stang I have had to fix a boost leak and I had to fix a blown head gasket. I'm sure down the road something else will break. I'm making 730whp.
I hope you get it figured out soon! I’d get it looked at if I were you😅😬😬😬
Drops camera and gaps him 😂 lol
And I like how at 10:35 a random charger tried to race u but I had to take him to gapplebees😂
Took that couple to gapplebees! Rush is such a nice guy! Hahaha
“Gapplebees” Lmaooooo I love it
I have a question about driving manual, I’m looking to get a whippled 2018 mustang gt, and can you no lift shift or is that only in the Camaro? And when coming to a stop, let’s say I’m in 3rd gear, can I put it in neutral and then put it in first when I’m about to stop?
What’s are cats 😂 - From Texas with love 😎😝
You are on an E85 tune correct? Have you tested the E85 at the pumps you fill at? It may not be the Ethanol level you are expecting. Get electric cutouts
Hey Rush on the start up and you had the camera looking under the car. I kinda sounded like the exhaust came loose. Maybe with the pulls from you last race something came loose. It sounded like the exhaust was rattling. It might be a good idea just to double check and tighten everything down again.
Whipple for the win lmao
saving up for my stage 2 upgrade kit and hope to run palm beach dyno tune for that 700rwhp mark
Broo come on it’s telling you it’s having a cylinder misfire obviously it’s gonna be that your not gonna be able to feel the power difference if it’s just one misfire
Great video! I am having a similar issue. I just supercharged my v6 challenger and the check engine light is popping on and off as I drive. It has been doing this for a few days. The guys who installed it said I needed to get mid-pipes because my right exhaust is running way hotter than the left side. I wonder if that is causing the check engine light to pop up? Also, I noticed that the plastic cover over my shifter was hot to the touch (in the interior of the car); not sure what that would mean. Any thoughts or ideas would be supper helpful. I appreciate any and all input. Thanks for reading! =)
i think its the coil packs since the spark plugs were changed
Not much room for error with the 12.1 compression, boost, and 91 octane. You should get it tuned at least even if still on 91, but e85 is a must with the high compression. Will also help keep the cats cool, best bet is to go free flowing though.
Dammmnn time to go with some long tubes playboy !!!!!!!!!!
2019 manual whipple here same set up as you. Bought the car new from lebanon ford with whipple tune on it cats didn't last 2 thousand miles. The pops are cool and all but im pretty sure thats what took out my cats. Got some a free flowing exhaust mod and new PBD tune and pops are gone and car running great. When I removed my cats the pass side was its had fallen apart.
george washington how can you stand the rasp 😓
Everytime one of my boosted 19s engines blew it started with P0300 and progressed...I've seen it run clean above idle to redline with 3 cylinders down due to transition to DI blowing oil off half the plugs it was insane....
I kept blowing engines till I pulled my cats but if they are pulling you over for a catback SHIT removing the cats makes its NUTS loud....
I'd definitely get them off at least yours probably broke, many melt then block the exhaust and pop engine ( this is what was happening to me )...
Good luck
are you in position to read the temperature from the cats and compare them to the other side?
check you spark plugs, hopefully you got colder spark plugs than the stock! also you will need to change your spark plugs more often with force induction cars, something else to check is your coil packs but that's usually a specific cylinder. also, don't drive it like that though because more likely it's running reach or not having a complete combustion and that will damage your cats
What’s that circle thing? An accessport? Looks dope!
Incorrect air/fuel mixture, incorrect timing, or misfiring spark plugs could lead to a catalytic converter failure or worse.
Because the catalytic converter gets very hot, this unburned fuel can ignite inside the converter and could result in a partial or complete melt down of the ceramic catalyst.
10:12 brooo that’s crazy , he wanted a taste of that gapplebees 😈🏎
May need to change out your spark plugs or you could have compression loss in one of your cylinders.
Check the o2 sensors. I had the exact same code. Took it to the dealer but they wouldn't touch it since it was modded. Took it to a performance shop and they found my main bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor was fried. Got a new one and it went away.
I'd be worried about the stock exhaust with that much power. The flow is just to restricted and makes the computers freakout
Definitely need to either get rid of cats or get high flow cats ASAP because of your setup with the supercharger
Ive had the code multiple times before. Always get that combined with a cylinder 8 misfire. Cleared it a few times and ran normal. Changed the plugs after another time and it was perfectly fine.
Is your car supercharged as well? How often do the sparkplugs need to be changed?
check your exhaust manifold!! my subaru w a 5 speed has the exact same problem. i ended up tightening a bunch of shrouds, got a band new aftermarket catalytic converter and neither solved the rattle. hope you fix it soon!
Now I know that it’s 2 different cars. But before my 16 Gt I had an 18 wrx and I got the p0300 code. It turned out that after the dealer couldn’t find the problem they had to go way deeper and found out that from switching from tunes back and forth, I was running stage 2 91 and e85 tune on and off I would switch them, I actually fried the ecm. But my car did also stop running so I don’t think that’s the problem your having cuz it seems to run fine. However if your car back fires and try’s to, or does stall out, it’s your computer most likely. And also my cat was fried as well but it was an after market high flow cat so idk if it was destroyed because of bad quality maybe or maybe that was the problem but my ecm was definitely bad. Upon replacing the ecm and putting back the stock cat, the car ran like new.
I know the problem bro, it’s because it’s a ford😂💀
Oh you got jokes today 🤕
🤣🤣🤣
Same thing happened to me on my 2018 whipple mustang gt PP1. I had the 10r80 and it all of the sudden wanted to stall / issues with keeping the rpm's up during idle. Particularly when coming to a sudden slowdown or stop. Finally threw the same code your's had and whipple had me immediately take it into the shop to figure it out.
I'm facing the same problem with my 2018 Odin superchargerd today.. Custom tuned locally but I would like to know what was the issue with yours and how did you get it fixed. I also feel there is a slight delay with the peddle response when I hit on it. And the car might stop in a slow turn suddenly. Your feedback is highly appreciated
@@anti0illuminati07 I actually ended up getting rid of the car shortly after the issue. Found out earlier this year through some friends that Whipple was fully aware of all the engines it was blowing up with its base tune no the car. Go figure.
Any time the CEL flashes, it’s a misfire. At least on my car and every other car at the dealership I work for. Saw on the last vid vs the hellcat you said your CEL is flashing. Keep an eye out for it, it’ll stop flashing/misfiring if you don’t hit it too hard and keep the rpms down
Completely off topic but, what wheels are you running?
Just replaced the driver's side on cat my suspercharged 2015 f150. It was the doing the same thing. Big chunks were rolling around inside blocking the exhaust flow giving the p0300 code.
Hey I just bought a Stang a few weeks ago and I got the same code!!! Took it to a dealer and they say it didn’t read ANYTHING!!! Told me just to keep driving it until it shows again… did you ever find out wat yours was?
You served that Charger some Gapplebee's curbside service!?!
Looks stage 3 whipple, just had a stage 1 kit melt a cat to the point that it went back into the cylinder and blew the rings out in cyl 7. Compression was at 60psi, smoke on start ups, knocking noise. New longblock installed along with revised whipple tune and bank 2 cat and upstream sensor.
High recommend longtube headers. No cats.
Try unbolting the exhaust from the cats and see if it helps. The white smoke could of just been from the moisture in the air like when its cool outside.
I have cats deleted and mine do this at around 120 under load. But the car runs fine just regular driving. Did you ever find out the problem?
i’d say check your spark plugs and compression to each cylinder. could just be that your spark plugs are burnt or maybe even cracked
It could possibly be a cat. My cat on 2nd bank (v6 genesis) got clogged up from the backfire. Hollowed out the cats and that fixed the issue. It gradually got worse as I couldn't figure out what the issue was (I tried everything and tested everything related to misfires). In the beginning it was an issue at higher rpms 6000+ but as it got worse it started at lower rpms. Best bet is to cut the cat and check and see if its clogged. Best of luck, hope it's not the cats (costly fix)
Check for loose plugs, touch exhaust manifolds to find misfire, change plugs and see if there isn't a piece of spark plug in a cylinder. Your next step is valve lash and timing chain/tension issue!!! Good luck!!!
Powder in the exhaust could be bad gas!!!
Either spark plugs are bad or it's the coils. Buddy of mine had the exact same problem. He replaced sparks, still misfired. Replaced coils and now all is good to go.
I had that same rattle under my car but mine turned out to be a problem with my timing chain.
That’s exactly how my car been sounding like for a few weeks now and earlier today the engine light turned on so i think i might have the same problem rn.
Rattling could be cat breaking up or just the heat shield loose
As far as misfire code I have a boosted 06 gt and it was a bad spark plug for me. Replaced it and been 2 years no problem.
get high flow cats on AM but thats the problem. nothing to worry about .
We got exactly the same set up I just got to Saint supercharger SU and I having the trouble with the light engine come up
So did it end up being the cats ?? My car is literally doing the same thing and making the same exact rattle sound
Hey. Did you ever get to the bottom of this as to what the cause was? Sorry if I missed a follow up video. I have a 2018 GT with Roushcharger and only 7500 miles. Throwing a P0300 code, dealer checked plugs and said they were fine, sent computer info to Roush and they flashed the PCM. One day later, CEL came back on. My car, from what I know, is running perfectly fine otherwise.
Have you figured this out since then I have a 2018 gt and just got this code today thanks
Guys I have a 2019 mustang GT 10 speed auto I was tuned by palm beach when I bought it from the dealer. The car always misfires when you get on the gas. Check engine starts flashing then disappears then when I get on it again it misfires but the check engine light stays on. It’s a P0300 ford checked all the spark plugs , coils , cylinder and compression test everything checked out fine they also replaced the 02 sensors yet it’s still misfiring. We also put the car back to stock and it’s still misfiring. Before when it had the tube on in sports mode you can make the car make some popping noises after you let off the gas. But after the tune was taken off it doesn’t pop anymore. Car is still misfiring my ford dealer can’t seem to figure out the issue. If you guys have any idea please let me know. The previous owner did have a separate exhaust before but when he traded the car he put the stock exhaust back
