What a great podcast! It explained so much, and I now don’t have to feel guilty not doing cardio after weights. I’m just going to focus on building muscle and getting strong. Thank you, both!
Being on compounded tirzepitide with affordability in question of late. I'm working now to abate my obesity, inflammatory (chronic) and metabolic syndrome to heal immunity. Dr. Tyna it was pivotal in my life when I found you!!! Excellent content always. In my 29 + nursing career, I could not find a facility or practice that aligned with my thoughts. If you can strength train and heal pathways, instead of treating long standing expensive conditions, why not investigate true healing vs. treating multi system breakdown. I never heard a dialysis recipient say gee, this is fun, wonder what other treatments I can do that's as fun! I have a great PA-C and I directed him to you as this is very interesting to him. Thanks again!
Dr Tyna I have been following you awhile and, as an alternative healthcare provider with autoimmune issues, LOVE your stuff. This video with Sal was kinda the missing link to soooo many of my questions. Thank you for sharing your amazing guidance and bringing on fantastic people like Sal!
Have to say this episode took the wind out of my sails. 60 year-old female, just starting HRT, on Tirzepatide to lose 25lbs. Doing all the things. Calorie deficit, focus on protein, hydration, sleep, nutrition with whole foods, 10K steps, 30 minutes of cardio 4x a week, Pilates, strength training 3X a week, with a focus on slow weight loss to preserve muscle and build muscle over time. I AM the person you both bashed on. I have respected so many of your informative episodes. Never underestimate someone's life circumstances that may have prevented them working on their health. Educate yes. Inspire yes. Be transparent yes. But bashing? No.
Love this podcast and your messages! Side note…. The reason those Women Only areas were designed, is because a lot of women feel intimidated by standard gyms, and they were attempting to address this. I believe that was also the model for Curves. 😊❤
Yep, people really need to learn how to pick up fitness and health as a daily habit and a discipline, not a goal, because it's for life, not until you get fit and healthy. It takes discipline and consistency. Focus on health and aesthetics will follow
Can you address the building of collateral circulation with strength training? I'm to do 30 minutes of walking/day to build it. I have arterial occlusion in both legs. I'd much rather lift weight than 30" on the treadmill.
Anyone know which study he's referencing when he mentions 30 second contractions increasing strength significantly? I'm interested to take a look at it :)
Is there any data of muscle memory/satellite cells on women who started off with 120lbs lbm but overtrained/rhabdo/then anorexic to the point of almost literally skin and bones for about 3 years straight. Is the satellite cells still there or is it practically starting off clean slate(as the body/tissues/other cells had died off?
But if you are significantly overweight and need to drop weight how does this logic apply? Even if you are strength training and building muscle but you want to actually be leaner, lighter and develop muscle
