- Everyone has a "cursed" mountain range where no matter how often you go there, the trips never go as planned. For my wife and I, it's the Wind River Range. First time there in 2020 mosquitoes were getting into our bug fly, second time we were there we had $500 worth of gear vandalized while we were attempting a peak, and now getting lit up by T-Storms!
We started at Elkhart, went to Seneca Lake then over Lester Pass and back out Pole Creek where we saw a moose and calf.
Gorgeous film; beautiful footage; thank you as always for sharing!
We have been working on building our off-grid homestead from scratch before winter hits so we haven't been able to get out on the trail this year. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures, it's helping us to get through this and reminding me why I am doing this. To get outside and explore!
Brutal luck! Thanks for sharing! Hike on!
More action in this one! Love it.
awesome trip)))
I haven't been to the Winds since the 80's when Pinesdale was a quaint one street town. It sure has changed, since then. I can't imagine getting my gear vandalized while in the backcountry. Finis Mitchell who wrote the classic trail guide on the Winds, and I met on a trail there, would roll over in his grave that that would happen in his beloved mountains.
You're a lot braver than me, I had a 4 day 3 night trip for the Grand Teton crest trail starting 8/7 and bailed due to the extreme weather forecast of thunderstorms, cold weather, high winds and heavy rain. I was in Jackson two nights prior and the thunderstorms were rattling the hotel all night long and couldn't imagine being up in the mountains in a tent for that crap.
Lots of storms. Heading back up there in September. Nemo zipper. Send your tent to Nemo. They fixed my tent last year after I reported it to them and shipped it to them. Thanks for the vid.
Happy Labor Day Weekend and best wishes for wherever you are hiking right now. I just got home so I'm taking a few zeros to get caught up around the homestead.
thank you
How exciting seeing the moose and her baby!
Quite the weather adventure! Though those hail pellets were pretty small... 😂 I wish you could've spent a night over at Cooks Lake. It was my favorite in the area when we hiked this area.
yeah the hail on your pintler trip is the TRUE test for a tent!
Quite the trip for you guys. Wish the video was longer. Really enjoy the camping situations like these, not that I want things to go south for you guys. Just makes it more thrilling?? Lol. Stay dry and thanks.
I wished it was longer too, unfortunately we spent most of the trip tent bound haha
