INTO GRIZZLY LAND | A 7 Day Teton Wilderness Experience | 4K Backpacking Documentary

- Опубликовано: 7 июн 2024
- 7 Days in Wyoming's Teton Wilderness by foot to some of its remote parts. We saw many Grizzly bears, a black bear and tons of elk. A part from a packer camp we were alone. We start at Brookes Lake and head over Cub Creek Pass and toward the South Fork of the Buffalo. We cross Lake Creek and head to Ferry Lake where we head eastbound to Marston Pass. We then head to Younts Peak and Thorofare Mountain, the headwaters of the yellowstone river where bears change our route for us. We then restart by going up Woodard Canyon to the North fork of the Buffalo and then out to Wall Mountain for our final night. We walk the Buffalo Plateau on our way out to Bonneville Pass.

thanks cat! yeah he was 100% correct lol
@NorthwestWanderer
Awesome video! Did a 90 mile trek this summer through part of the country you traveled! Got a bunch of ideas for the Absarokas, if you guys are looking for more partners!
Great effort - thank you! And Joey is still out there making a rare appearance! Joey, miss your stuff - hope to see more. Happy trails, gents!
So good to know Joey is out there doing what he loves. Hey Joey miss your videos.
Fantastic job Andrew. Your best yet! Great to see you and Joey hiking together, and who better to hike that country with!? Joey wasn't kidding on his Patreon when he said you got into bears. Great hike, nice work.
thank you, he is a great hiking partner and an even better friend.
looks like an awesome trip. Tell Joey to give us some content. Miss seeing him on RUclips
What happened to Joey's channel?
@@bucksutherland7807 - Joes is now on patreon ~ My Own Frontier. Cat put Joey's link under a few of her recent vids.
We also use "brush barriers" around our tent, but primarily to discourage animals from walking too close and damaging the tent by snagging a guy rope. Often our "barriers" are just twigs or branches leaned on or against the ropes to (hopefully) increase their visibility. We began doing this after our rain fly was torn (at Ferry Lake) by something snagging a guy while we were day hiking the two summits just north and northeast of the lake. This was during a 2017 backpacking trip that we took to see the eclipse, the "parting of the waters", S. Fork Yellowstone, some summits, etc. It is a beautiful area. We only saw one Grizzly.
Where did Joey put his MY OWN FRONTIER on youtube? Thanks guys!
He is on Patreon/
Great video, I love the Teton scenery! What happened to joeys channel? I loved watching it and now I can’t even find it! Did it get taken down or is Joey just not going to make any more videos?
He's on Patreon!
Thanks. What happened to Joey channel 😕? There were so many cool nature videos.
Joey has been posting regularly and recently on his Patreon account. We're not sure if he'll be back on RUclips. At one time, he mentioned he was having some issues with RUclips.
I was just looking for his channel and was going crazy like what happened to it lol. darn it!
Superb adventure. And a hi ho to Joey. Best hiker in the world to have with you in the grizzly country. Thank you for sharing
Terrific viewing. Thanks Andrew and Joey.Always enjoy you work!
thank you!
Wow!! What amazing footage! Keep up the great work. Look forward to many more.
"Someone got eaten down there" "welp here we go!"
Did an awesome trip there 12-13 years ago. Great area to hike with the views and numerous unmarked outfitter trails. Nice to see HD video of some of the spots we covered. Camped in the meadow at 31:26:00 then popped up the the ridge to get a good look at Younts after dinner.
Any news from Joey ? He pulled down his youtube channel, his facebook...
Nice shot of the American Dipper (24:10)! Their habitat is fast-moving mountain streams and waterfalls. Sometimes they even swim under the water. Cheers
I learn more and more by being a true fan of like minded people. Thank you to each one of you!!!
Extra Great Time, for sure.
Thank you Lori, I love this adventure! Great stuff! :)

Does anyone know what happened to joeys channel?? All of his content isn’t on RUclips anymore 🫤
Idk I’m wondering the same thing. I’m sad I loved watching his videos to wind down before bed .
@@kpopanimelife69 same… I loved waking up on the weekends and watching them while I drink coffee. Hopefully we get some clarification soon
I'm also searching for his channel, and I notice the other channels appear, I miss his channel so much. Even though maybe he doesn't want to do videos anymore, his channel should stay on RUclips..😊
Me too. Bummed I really enjoy his content and narration
Joey is adding content to Patreon. ♥️

This is what backpacking is all about, beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife. I didn't realize the teton wilderness had so much alpine area, really beautiful.
Great amazing video.
Awesome video! Well done.
Great video well done!👍

What an awesome yt! Great video and trip discussion. Good to see Joey back in the region. Perfect music from Don Edwards also. Was there in 21 but little luck spotting Grizz. Thanks for rekindling my memories and sharing.
Wow! Just came across ur channel & look forward to your videos!! Thanks for sharing!
Phenomenal video Andrew!! Glad to see you and Joey getting after it in that wild country! We live in Alaska now but I’ll be honest there’s still no place quite like the Teton Wilderness! 🇺🇸🏔️🥾
Fantastic! This one might be my favorite so far! What an adventure! Great story telling! Loved it!
thanks travis!
We camped at Brooks Lake a couple of nights on our way into Yellowstone last August and drove up to DuNoir TH on our way out. Beautiful scenery and wildflowers! Enjoyed the incredible video of your trip!
Really enjoyed this video. Epic trip, Tnx for sharing. Was that an ode to Timothy Treadwell at the end..
Just finished watching your video. Great backpacking video in one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the lower 48. Your narration and videography are a solid A-. Keep exploring.
Amazing Andrew! Loved this!
thanks jarl!
Outstanding. I used to horsepack in below Perry N. Boday. Just truly tremendous. Thanks for the great work!
horsepacking is the way to go out there, long hot miles on foot
Fantastic video Andrew, I really appreciate all the hard ass kicking work that goes into your videos. Glad Joey was able to come along for this one and what a neat experience to see that many grizzlies!
thank you, yes it was a special experience
Awesome bear footage. Its so weird that they eat so many things. For a minute the sow looked like it was just eating grass. They might have been digging bulbs up too.
Epic landscapes, some very fortunate and incredible grizzly bear footage. Thanks for sharing your marvelous trip-
thank you, we were pretty lucky to get to see as many as we did
I loved your videos it is so amazing to see these places full of pura vida. Best.
Glad to see my 2 favorite backpackers/ vlogers together, I’m home recovering from a knee replacement watching backpacking videos- I’ll be there soon, great job!!!!
I hope recovery goes well and you can get out on your own very soon!
Like the dual use beer cushions! Beer always makes up for any weight cutting. Hard to get sleep when you know bears are close by, especially grizzlies. Had a black bear stroll through my camp site in Yellowstone this week and stop to sniff my tent at sunset, not a good feeling. Not sure why the park put a backcountry site in the middle of a berry patch.
Thank you so much for not putting music over the backpacking portion of the trip. Sadly, so rare to find. I love to hear Nature's Music; the wind, water, bird song, even the insects. I also greatly appreciate all the informational details. Well done. You have a new subscriber !
Epic trip! Thanks for making this video and sharing. That’s a lot of bears in one area. Hope to be up in Montana in late August, maybe check out the Bob Marshall wilderness. I’m sure it will be hot but compared to Florida it should feel good. Hello to Joey. Thanks again.
i cant imagine how hot florida is during the summer. Id probably die.
Found your channel by chance and have been enjoying your content! good to see Joey, his channel disappeared thought he hung up his hiking boots.wonder where to check out his content now a days?
Awesome adventure video.
Just got back from a week in the Cloud Peak Wilderness with my teenage boys. Its a goal of ours to get to the Teton Wilderness, but my boys need more experience out west (we're living in the Northeast) before I take them on adventure deep into grizzly country. Thanks for sharing this Andrew!
hope you enjoyed Cloud Peak Wilderness, we were just there, very beautiful spot.
Half way through your video and it is excellent. IMHO there are 3 brands of hiking pants to choose from: Revolution Race, Prana and Kuhl. I know firsthand. Keep making backpacking videos!
Badass video. Was this July or August? I wanted to hike in this area and check out Younts peak but can only do it early to mid July. Not sure if the snow will be melted out by then. The time lapse shots were nicely done. Just sub to your channel.
Bro! Love yur content and filming! I just subscribed as I think the algorithms sent yur video to me as I’ve been looking for joeys channel. It’s sad his channel is gone. He’s disappointed a lot of people. I watched one of his videos every Saturday morning as my relaxation time. Hope he’s doing well. You got yourself a new sub! 👌🏼
thank you. Also you can watch joeys videos on his patreon he is active on that
@@NorthwestWanderer oh ok! Sweet! Thank you! Your videos are awesome man, I’ve gotten into a few more! Great stuff 👌🏼
I was DYING to get into the Teton Wilderness this summer. Didn’t happen FML! But you guys did it for me-great video. Also, who sliced up your sleeping pad???
thank you. Last year on a weekend trip into the Wind River Range my wife and I left our camp to go for a summit when we came back someone sliced both our airpads. The other airpad couldn't be salvaged because the cleanly cut out the air valve
@@NorthwestWanderer wtf! Sabotaging another man’s comfortable nights sleep is NOT acceptable. I wish that person a full week of diarrhea.
Agreed: keep the location non-descriptive. Very cool spot…
Thx again Andrew. How far do you estimate you were from the first set of four (5) grizzlies were you and again the sow and 2 cubs later? I think your camera is the one you zoomed for the pics. What were you using to zoom in on the grizzlies? Agreed, that one sow was acting strange. Appreciate your time.
Hello! The first set of bears we saw according to google maps measure tool we were ~4100 feet away (1.25km). The angry sow with the 2 cubs we bumped into 5 minutes later we were (when I filmed her) probably 500-700 feet? The closest she got, once she ran across the creek as we were leaving, was probably within around 400 feet but we weren't filming then - bear spray was out and ready! The camera is the Sony AX53 which IMO is the best camcorder out there right now especially for Image/Stabilization/Weight/Size/Price/Features
Yummy yummy bear beat
I can't pull up my own frontier site. Does anyone know if his site is down
Yes,, I could not access the videos either
Same… I’ve been trying to find anything out but all of his content is gone. Real bummer
He's on Patreon now, just found out myself.
Joey, do you still have your channel, My Own Frontier? Anybody know ? 😊
He's on Patreon !
