Google-translate reminds me of an old joke... They took a phrase, "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." After translating back and forth, it came back as, "The meat is rotten but the booze is holding out."
Once, i translate the word "она" to portuguese (my native language) and it translated to "isto" and was a verificaded translate lol. Она in portuguese is "ela" never "isto". "Isto" means "this/it" :/
For me the hardest part is learning verbs because they all seem very similiar to each other, once you start getting used to them everything makes sense.

Start with the super simple sentences about your own life and personality. Repeat the basic phrases day after day without interruptions or skipping classes. Based on the established base, expand your vocabulary and increase the complexity of phrases and constructions.
Depending on your goal, that might be all you need. My goal is to simply be able to speak to my Russian online friends, so I'm fine with being B1 or maybe even B2 one day. I just need conversational Russian.
What app would ypu personally recommend.. I have two on my phone now. And when I talk or translate something. I will periodically get two different answers, words, phrases...
I’ve been studying Russian for about a year. I’m still in the beginning stages but have learned a little bit. The greatest method of learning the language is actually speaking it. For instance, look in your room, try to identify common things that would come into conversation. If you’re a passenger in the car, try to identify the things you see and say them out loud. As for apps, I would recommend yandex translate. It uses example sentences to help you understand the context of the word. For learning new vocabulary I would honestly recommend Quizlet, and RUclips videos. Learning apps like duolingo can be bad for your learning because you may learn irrelevant words that you will rarely use. An app I love that has a couple features is “speak easy Russian.” It is an app with common phrases and such. There is a free version and then there is the complete version that costs 3$. Fully worth the price. Give it time and you will slowly start to pick up small things! Удачи мой друг!
