Blame the whole marketing strategy of Kpop, they encourage shipping & it is them that sexualise the relationship of idols, that lead to fan fiction, plus the other strategy of selling them as "boyfriends" and not allowing them to date, it is literally creating and a obsessive fan culture, where fans think they have a right to dictate what the artist and other fans can or can not do.

I think the author is well aware of what she is doing. The fact that her work can potentially bring harm to a real person and she is okay with that already tells you what kind of a person she is. I believe one gets what one gives out. Let fate handle this. Meanwhile let us support and pray always for the well being of our bangtan men, specially for the one being unfairly targeted. That's just my opinion.

I will always be grateful that people like you are using your voice and influence to bring knowledge about these issues.
There are many people in this fandom who have allowed themselves to be influenced by false narratives, such as the relationships of the members with each other, with the company, about their careers and personal lives.
All based on theories and assumptions to fill part of the information that is not revealed to the public, attracting so many hateful comments to real people.
These people need to pay more attention to what they say online because this can cause terrible consequences for the safety and mental health of our boys.
(Sorry for any grammar mistake, English is not my first language. I'm Brazilian. 💚💛)

The assumption is that all readers can distinguish between what is real and what is imagined.
All readers aren't mentally sound or healthy, so they act on the fiction rather than accept the reality. This is where fan fiction can become a bit dangerous.
Fan fiction based on real life persons has to be more careful it doesn’t negatively impact the real person's life.
I believe that citing artistic freedom or business freedoms doesn’t protect us from our responsibility to each other as human beings.

How is that different from television, tv, or video games? There is always a chance someone crazy will be unable to distinguish between reality and fiction. That doesn’t mean no one is ever allowed to make a movie about a serial killer again.

I both agree with you and agree with @sherb. Creators should be mindful to ensure that their products centering real life fantasies are projected as being fantasies, but there is just so much creators can reasonably do. Beyond that, it shouldn't be on the creators, and it shouldn't lead to a ban on smt if some in the audience are not using reasonable discretion abt their product.

There's a very simple way to check whether fanfiction (especially the sexualizing ones) is a good or bad thing: replace the names with the names of your boyfriend, partner, parents and your own. And then you see if it's "uncomfortable". Taehyung', JK's or Jimin's mother probably also have an opinion on the topic!

Using BTS as base and excuse to write any fiction is simply parasitising on BTS and making money for your pocket . If you believe you are a writer and you are inspired by BTS ,use that inspiration and use other names but BTS guys names . Otherwise you have a mental issue to be resolved

  • @em5522
    @em5522 8 часов назад +12

Even tho I'm not into rps (or even rpf), I do actually see shipping as a healthy way to explore one's own sexuality and preferences. I would just also say there are lines you cannot cross with it.
Ppl should understand that the public figures they see are not ppl they actually know. Shipping is purely fantasy taken from one's own perspective and preferences. So, it is problematic when ppl treat ships as real or when shippers try to force shipping fantasies onto others.
And taking advantage to benefit directly off using real ppl is just not smt I can condone either. Artistic freedom shouldn't shield ppl from taking advantage of others for a one-sided gain.

I read a lot of fanfiction, in fact I found BTS through fanfiction.
After reading several hundreds stories, I caved and looked them up on youtube.
    Down I fell...
I'm also a beginner writer, and have written fan fiction for a coulpe of fictive shows and movies, and I find it harder to write about BTS.
The need to be more respectfull since they are real combined with my way of writing makes it harder, but I won't budge on respecting them as real people.
But I have to admit this is the first time I have considered how my fictional stories can influence the readers of them.
With me being as old as I am, it didn't even crossed my mind that some people could take them as factual..
Releasing a popular fan fiction story after only changing the names, and then hashtag the members to attract the delulu shippers shows how little respect she has for BTS.
But how much responibility does we as writers have towards the readers?
Are we responsible for them not knowing the difference between fiction and real life?
Delulu shippers will always find something that "proves" their "thruth"

In Chile there is also an author who published her taekook fanfiction as a book. I would never read it, but I know what it's about and I think it's absolutely unethical for someone to make money using their names like that, and I believe that definitely Big Hit should sue them. Most shippers truly believe their fantasies and don't realise how this harms real people. It is disgusting. And I say it because I'm a reader and a writer who's curious about all genres, so I have tried to read BTS and other kinds of fanfictions and they are always disgusting, I don't have the stomach to read past a few lines. It is pure expression of personal issues and they should be ashamed to even publish on wattpad or even say those things outloud.

For me who is a avid fanfic reader myself.....I dont have an issue with shipping....as long its kept within fandom spaces and dont forcibly pushed onto those as facts in real life into their faces....ship all you want.....
For me...I see BTS members as bros and cringe to even think of them as anything else...but hey if any of them were to be....thats private and also their business.....and who does think like that and ship seriously or for fun..its within their rights as persons with their own opinions...
If other fans hates these fanfics and shipping....just stay away from them....that is why TW tags exist😅....Not because I dont like intimate fanfic about the group I stan doesnt mean others wont...I wont ruin their fun...lol
And some fans seems to foget these are fanfics....fake...not real.....fictional content....hell it can be even a BTS group or member from an alternate universe....but I draw the line of using their IPs in such fictional content for monetary gains.....now the writer could be crossing questionable and legal waters if they go that far....

In my opinion it is not wrong to write fanfiction as long as it stays within the fanfiction space.
Its a manner of expression, sharing your feelings and gaining joy and therapy, finding similar minded persons like you.
The moment you publish it, you are crossing a boundary.
Its not about joy or expressing anymore, it is about money.
If using someone picture, song, music, logo etc. to make money without their permission is called plagiarizing, then using their identity in this manner is also plagiarizing!!!

As others have stated fan fiction is that Fiction, it is not there to teach morals, nor right from wrong, it afterall a product of the persons imagination (some people may have questionsable imaginations but in the end it is the authors choice) as a reader/consumer you can either choose to read, like or dislike that choice is yours but the legal disclaimer put at the front stating that the characters have no relationship to the idol, would make it impossible from a legal stand point to take futher action.
Where they can sue would be in those instances where people claim something to be fact or true, such as edited photos that claimed to be real, such as those of Jennie & Taehyung where it was stated they are real and proof of a relationship. In istances like that legal action can & has been taken.
I think we also have to remember that Yoongi admitted that he used to write fan fiction, it is not to be taken seriously, but as entertainment. Some fans are really too "precious" & honestly need to relax.

I am not sure I totally agree with your statement here. I think fanfic about celebrities can be dangerous because people will buy it and take it seriously. Even if people know it is actually fiction, those false scenarios can still skew how we see the real life person. That seed has been planted. Too many people take fiction as reality already, and adding fanfic to the mix just makes the situation worse.

This is not specific to fan fiction but I think it should be said:
I have seen some great things since becoming a KPOP fan, some very inspiring acts/actions that make me believe in human good, but I've also been shocked (as an elderly person) at the degree of hate and pathology and condemnation that I've witnessed in fan culture at the same time.
It falls to the person, or family and friends of people who have strong pathologies to intervene before tragedies happen. From across the world I can't do anything. But someone standing right next to a person can make a difference.
Focusing on making global changes in an effort to cover the world with a safe space blanket for all, will not work, it is pie in the sky. Pathologies exist in localities, for example bullying in schools or domestic violence, for the most part that is where interventions must start.
Having mental or moral problems doesn't mean nothing can be done. Reach out for help for yourself. Reach out for help for a friend, or a sibling, as a parent or whoever you are. Having mental health issues is not an excuse for self destructive or heinous acts. You can get better.

It is hard to hear of any group member being represented negatively.
Real Person fan fiction has been going on forever. It is no big deal, it is imagination. Many people when they were younger imagined marrying their favorite singer or actor. Not much harm in it as long as people do realize it is NOT REAL.
I do think we need to remember that some people can't separate fact from fiction. Is that the problem of a writer exercising imagination, or a reader conflating truth with imagination?
I tend to think of the difference between fan and sasaeng as a good metric. The Extreme is not a good place to go.
I also don't like graphic fan fiction. And as I said above, I don't like members being negatively depicted. I am glad this particular fiction was changed from fan fiction to pure fiction.
I do prefer to read character based fan fiction not real person fan fiction.

To me it's a case to case kind of thing. Sometimes, fanfiction can be a way for authors to write when they wanna "start" writing. However, what draws the line to me isn't the quality of the writing but the sexe side of the thing. To me, a fanfiction who clearly put an emphasis on sexes scenes isn't good. No matter the scenario, the writing if you're sexualizing reals person it's it... A fantasy... I know it can be hard to admit, but it is.
But if the author can change the names without any problem.... I guess it's another scenario ? It's a really complicated topic lmao... There's many nuances but to me it's really a matter of sexualisation first. Its how I decide wheather an author has good intention or not. If you write about real person while sexualizing them AND you COULD change the names... It's... Weird. And... Maybe bad in a way. I dont know oh my god im so lost

I've been in fandom for over 23years. Back when FF was just starting to get a foothold online. Up until then it only existed in fanzines and letters that were passed around.
Shipping itself is harmless. It is the action of some people forcing their preferences at others that is an issue. Or their anger directed at someone else when they cannot control those around them to do or think the same as they do.
This isn't about FF or peoples preferences in FF.
It is about one person who had the power to ask that the one part of that fandom not attack any members, but chose not to do that. It is about that same one person who lied to fill their own pockets. And in doing so caused a deluge of hate comments aimed towards JM
The person who wrote that book stated that the book had no link to BTS once published and yet they used BTS and BTS sub units names tags plus BTS members images to promote it- proving that to be a lie.
They said they would delete all hate but only deleted hate directed at themselves and zero hate directed at JM and even incited the hate themselves towards JM through the books contents.
People did not call for them to be reported to hybe lightly. Nor out of some fandom war but because of the deluge of hate and the fact this person lied and was filling their pockets using BTS to do so.

Il peut aussi y avoir un intérêt commercial dans la diffusion de ce livre, l'auteur a trouvé la bonne idée de faire la publicité en sachant très bien qu'il, y aura discutions et bien sûr ventes lucrative ,

It used to be that a romance novel was required to have 3 'sex scenes'. They didn't have to be explicit, per se. I wrote a trilogy years ago, but found those scenes tedious, so moved on to fantasy and light horror, but only had 1 from the 1st trilogy published, and 3 teen horror stories published online, before I had a near fatal stroke. Now, I have about 11 or 12 manuscripts that still need editing & 4 that still need to actually be finished, but I really don't know if I'll ever get back into writing again. The stroke kicked so many genetic disorders into gear, as well as leaving me with slightly damaged brain functions, all of which I've struggled to overcome as much as possible for the past 14 years, well... I keep thinking that I need to at least get all those manuscripts finished and edited, in case one of my kids wants to get them published some day. I used to love writing, but now, it seems to be all I can do to crochet for 20min or so. I suppose that, if the manuscripts are meant to be published, I'll be given the energy to at least get them to the proper point of readiness, but who knows. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I won't be watching if that's the title this video is gonna have. The title is low-quality bait that makes you sound like you're prioritizing your hobby over calling out the person in question for her shameless behavior.
Real-person fanfiction is cringe and should not be normalized. You can write it and read it but it should stay where it deserves to stay regardless of quality-underground. It's cringe that this got so big that even BTS might've heard about it. Profiting from real-person fic is shameless; even if you change the names it doesn't change the fact people originally read it thanks to BTS' fame.

I think this is a very selfish and bad take... I normally enjoy your balanced take but it's extremely clear you are biased by you personal pleasure for fan fiction.
Fanfiction mimics colonization in a lot of ways. The real people are puppets being controlled by someone with the power to create a narrative and publishing/editing rooms are not diverse spaces. These stories are akin to how history is written by the conquerors.

It would be really disturbing if certain fanfictions got forbidden. You're limiting someone's creative freedom that way. It's up to the readers to be able to separate reality and fiction.
Jimin is my bias and I don't read any fanfiction that portrays him as a bad person. I don't like it, but I'm not going to forbid that author from writing him in any way she wants. Nor any other person. It's NOT REAL.

I would rather worry about the fans that thinks they own bts and that thinks dating is a scandal and having a life.

What is an Idol? A persona with an online or public persona? Isn't that what idol culture is; creating a persona? And isn't sexuality and shipping a part of that culture, supported both by the companies and the idols themselves? Isn't that what most entertainment boils down too? Couldn't Hybe kill all these ships if they wanted to? And if you look deeper into the phenomenon and history of boys love, you find a reaction to patriarchy. The author wrote a story, is that any different than other media profiting from BTS from clickbait, except she put actual work and creativity into it? Can you structure everything around not triggering the most unstable? Just look at American Politics. I keep seeing parallels between shipping wars and politics. Maybe it's just me.

It's a bit moronic to sue somebody for writing fanfiction. Even if the fanfiction is considered Superior to its Canon source material.

There is wayyyy too much mental health issues in our world and the slightest push can tip a hater over the edge where they act on that hate on their target...this target already receives so much hate already...it's very disgusting and vile to get paid and gain popularity from someones misery! Let's see if Karma will work her magic....🪄💜🇺🇸
