Hello friend whose ancestors are Northern Cheyenne Native American 👋❤️ I’m sorry we took your land and killed your people. Please forgive me. I choose life and love. I love you neighbor ❤
Also, up to 90% of native populations d*ed of European diseases long before most the European refugees fled oppression from monarchs and war and came to America, my Welsh Quaker ancestors included. Native Americans being very adept at warfare and violence, there is zero chance Europeans would have survived at all with the native tribes with full numbers. A godless naturalist would be puzzled by the quirks of natural selection, no? Meanwhile my ancestor Attakullakulla had the right idea seeking peace with the white man, though his son sought violence. Today those very tribes are very wealthy through seeking peace. Many believe in Jesus now too!
I think the assumption was that people love themselves. It's kind of like, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The assumption is that we don't want bad things done to us. Thus, we theoretically wouldn't do bad things to others.
@@BlaidTheBardhello blaidthebard 👋❤️I’m sorry we took the land of your ancestors as well and killed many of them whether through warfare or diseases. Please forgive me. I choose life and love. I love you neighbor ❤
I have immeasurable respect for this man. It takes guts to speak out the truth and emphasizing the importance of speaking the truth, even if that means going against your own interests and/or losing people along the way. I appreciate the ever so gentle and respectful way he does so, with the only intention of educating others and spreading love.
I agree with you so much it made me want to comment. One of my very good teachers would always say "perception is reality". They are pretty well respected today and have moved on to being the dean of their building at a huge university. (I was studying in college to be a teacher at the time, went on to teach 10 years, and walked away from it at the end of last academic year.) I've really grown to wholeheartedly dislike that statement, wondering how many truths have died because of this line of thinking. People who have lost battles because they couldn't overcome the false narrative built against them. It's a shame that it's the way the world works. I'm currently not working within my degree(s). So much of what he talks about resonates with me, and it makes me feel less alone. (edits for clarity)
Another one 'Absolutely agree'. Thank you too @Markffan, for commenting with clear words. We can from now hope this video of Goobie will make our world a lot more peaceful and LOVEFUL. ❤
I have struggled with this for a very long time… I guess I’ve come to the personal conclusion that people exploit Jesus to exploit others for personal gain… but when you really know Jesus the energy is not what is portrayed in the church.
I think most church members do the best they can. Not to be perfect, but to love God and get to know him better. It is sin in the world that messes everything up and why none of us is perfect.
@@GoobieAndDoobie i believe all religion is a veil over the brain. Thankfully my brothers and I never believed in ANY religion and can think normal lives.
You’re very honest, and I respect that. I’m focusing on your story only, and as a Buddhist here, I believe in understanding and respect for all perspectives. Just a word of caution-when it comes to topics like religion or politics, it’s important to tread carefully. It can be easy for things to get misunderstood, and protecting yourself is key. Stay safe and thoughtful!
I agree, people can really lose all perspective when you question or have a different viewpoint about their entrenched beliefs. It's just too threatening for them. These are the people who become religious fanatics and can commit atrocities in the name of religion.
Tread carefully by respecting opposing perspectives? I agree. Tread carefully by not mentioning about the topic at all? Heck no. I respect Dr Goobie because of his bravery in sharing such things out of the genuinity of his heart regardless of whether people would take it well or not
Thank you for telling these stories, and telling your stories. I have struggled with Christianity as you have. I’ve read Delores Cannon’s book Horns of The Goddess which describes a cruelty done in the name of Christ. Her other books also describes what Jesus actually taught, before less godly people warped His teachings in order to gain power over others. Anything that Jesus said that did not help the Priests to gain power was omitted from the Bible. There are still very good teachings in the Bible, and it is still a very good Book. Good things has resulted from Jesus’s teachings. So all is not bad. But we are now only just starting to discover that there were also terrible things done as well. Blessings be onto you.
Hi, Goobie! Thank you for sharing your experiences here ❤️Just wanted to say, not all people who claim to be Christians truly have a right and biblical walk with God. In truth, Christianity is really about the Christ of the Bible, and a true walk with Him, not about confusing and disturbing behaviors by people who really didn’t seem to understand God’s Word. I’m sad to hear that you had such difficult experiences. Were these people truly obeying God’s Word?? It sounds like no. Instead of looking at Christians as all one group defined by the worst examples you can find, perhaps look at those who have truly been transformed by God’s love. Such true believers will have the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness , faithfulness, and self-control. Not by their own power but by the transformative power of God. We all need a Savior, and definitely I would not ever suggest to anyone to attend a church that does not follow God’s Word. I hope you find true examples of good people in your life who truly love God and others, just as Jesus gave us the example to follow. ❤🙏🏼
Agree! I’m happy about everyone who turns to Christ, but not about everyone who identifies as a Christian, because a lot of them are definitely not Christ-like
Dear Goobie as I listened to your story I was taken back to when we lived on a reservation in Montana, Fort Belknap, my husband was the resource officer. We lived on the reservation for 7 and one half years. I learned all these things while living there. Also as I listened intently I knew that I had to respond. The LORD God. He is Jehovah, Elohim and it is He alone who knows the hearts of man. He loves You and sent His own Son, Jesus to die on the cross to save you. If you call upon the name of Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior He will take care of you. May I suggest that You start reading God’s word and ask the I AM, the creator of ALL, to reveal Himself to you. He loves you so much and desires to reveal Himself to you. I’m confident that He will guide you and give you His answers. Blessings to you and your walk of Faith.
Did you listen to Goobie’s post and opinion? What do you think your comment conveys to him? Was it about making yourself feel good about your beliefs, or help Goob?
Hey Goobie. I'm only in my very early 20s, but my entire life, I have been an atheist or, more so just someone who doesn't really believe in any religion. It's really refreshing and comforting to know your perspective and just in general to treat everyone nicely regardless. Sometimes I also seem to get forced or questioned to be into certain religions such as Christianity or Islam, but hearing your stories and perspective makes me relate to the thoughts I also go through. As someone going through a really hard time currently in life, I love your content, as a medical student, I feel not so alone with my thoughts, wanting to quit medicine... thank you, genuinely. You truly came at the right time.

Maybe you are what is called "pantheistic." There is no need to adhere to any one theological faith or belief. They largely are all only allegories to help guide people thru life. Problem is they tend to be exclusive and overly judgmental. Perhaps even violent. Ignore that, embrace the good points they may offer and you will have no conflict. No need to be ordained anything but yourself. Think beyond denomination. If they can't or won't accept that, pray for them as one with a more accepting understanding of life and eternal life.

True wisdom is knowing no man is good. he might have so good qualities but we must all repent and come to know Jesus or parish just a fact. Jeremiah 17:9 King James Version 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I also grew up Korean American in a Christian household. And went through similar challenges, asking those hard questions in college as I was living a totally secular life... I started following Christ (aka became a Christian) and surrendered my life (AKA I'm not the lord over my life) when I realized my desperate need of Christ and his forgiveness. That was the starting point.. because of that I felt the love of God so powerfully and overwhelmingly, my only response was to dedicate my life to Him. It doesn't mean I'm perfect... I still have to fight my flesh every single day & a lot of temptations/ distractions come about. But I know I'm saved by faith and through His grace... & I just read the bible / obey Jesus. I take sermons / man's doctrines & always refer them back to the truth which is God's Word.

I’m sorry for the experience that you had brother. It was kinda sad for me to hear all that coming from a PK. I was saved through Missionaries in Vietnam about 15 years ago. I am forever grateful for the gift of Grace from our loving God. I am now also a missionary in a sensitive country, it’s the best job in the world. We are working hard day and night only for one purpose and that is for people to find Jesus, to know Him and live for Him. Our experience is quiet different, but just so you know, I came across your videos a few weeks ago, I have big respect for you, I am also hurt for you. I’m praying that you would find freedom in Christ.
Thank you for your valuable comment and testimony! I enjoy these videos also much, with their sensivity in courageously addressing delicate matters. I do have also a special relation to Korea and its spiritual contribution to mankind of being the strongest missionary force. As a Bible based missionary theologian in Germany, having taught at a graduate school of missions with representatives of more than 84 Evangelical missionary societies, it warms my heart to hear about you and your calling and sense your spiritual fervour. Goobie, I feel you man. My heart was heavy listening to what you've gone through. I have gone through very similar internal battle that you have gone through. I have noticed similar inconsistencies and ugliness that you have and struggled with it. I did however end up keeping my faith through it all. There are a couple of things I would like to say. First, don't put your faith on people, only in God. It seems that a lot of the things that you've mentioned has something to do with the failures of people. Second, continue to seek the truth. When you're up for it, read the bible again. Seek truth for yourself, don't just rely second hand "truths". I love you man. I pray that you'll find peace and comfort in the Lord.

@@GoobieAndDoobiehey man, it's a blessing to hear that. I want you to know, if anything, much love from me to you man! The Lord had our paths cross yesterday, and that encounter really helped me start thinking, it encouraged me. I guess some people would call that "God using you" but honestly, it's love and the way, truth, and life and that's what John called God and Jesus called himself respectively, and those are things I know you can have inside you, especially if you are putting it out of you! God breathes into you, and it's good to breathe (speak, act) God out. Be encouraged, truth conquers falsehoods, life overcomes death, and love, it beats everything. I don't ever want a brother to accept a half-truth out of fear, or ignorance, or frivolity, or self-service, love like listed above isn't conditioned to do the right things. That type of love is called Agape, and it's a reflection of the presence of God's Love. Phileo and Eros, that is love in action towards your fellow man or brother, and love that is in action towards your partner, respectively, are conditioned, yes, but through growth, maturity, respect and the cultivation of good character through trials and suffering and healing and encouragement and tempering with others, or by oneself', in love (Agape).

God is simply love no? Not Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. If love was everyone’s “religion” what would the world be like. Don’t most religions teach that their God is love? What I do not like about Christianity and most religions is that they believe theirs is the ONLY way to know God/love.
Some Christians are responsible for terrible things. Others are utter saints. Others in between. People who don't care for Christianity always focus on the negative exemplars of Christianity.

Thank you once again.
Hey, I'm a pastors kid too, and I know what you mean. Some of the best and worst experiences I've had in my short 17yrs thus far have had to do with the church. The church for me was a small community and a group of people I loved. Then, I experienced a lot of hurt there by some people at church, who were really hurting in a lot of ways themselves. Not directly, but I saw a lot of people treating my dad poorly when I was little and it left a lasting impression on me. It definitely hurt my faith, and over the past few years I've really struggled with bitterness towards those people. But I've realized that bitterness just hurts me in the end. And also what Jesus said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners" is so important cause its very true. The church isn't for perfect people, but for those who need healing and forgiveness and healing from God, which is why sometimes, you get hurt in the church like so many PK's experience. Doesn't mean it's ok, but sometimes it helps you understand why it happens. Everyone there is a sinner, everyone there has problems and brokenness and is in need of healing. Also, props to you dude, for understanding at a young age that what you were seeing Christians around you do/say was inconsistent. And you're right, they are hypocritical, and they are harmful, ESPECIALLY for young kids who are still taking in the world and trying to understand things! I would say that not all churches practice those teachings, in fact in many churches, those teachings about tithes, and speaking in tongues, forcing Christianity on people, etc. would be considered very wrong and against the Bible(no offense to anyone or to your former church at all, but what you described is some seriously bad theology). You've described a very Pentecostal-style kind of church. I'd just encourage you and suggest that if you desire, to find a church or denomination that you like, that helps you understand God's love, where you can see God's love reflected in people. Cause that's the thing, one of the ways God shows us love is through other people who God lives in and its so important! Also, as a Canadian I very much understand what you mean about Christianity's poor relationship with the Indigenous peoples.....we have a very sad history in Canada too. I had no idea about that massacre in the US, that's just horrible. I hope nothing like that ever happens again. Anyways, sorry for the long comment, but felt very compelled to write something(although I almost never do) cause your story really spoke to me, and this is not something I've ever really spoke to anyone about before. Hope you take it easy and enjoy your time in nature! :)
hai, also a fellow pk and i totally understand what you mean hahaha. growing up in church is like growing up in a hospital untrained. u see broken people trying to do God's work but sometimes it ends up hurting people instead and u get burnout by the hypocrisy and internal conflicts. ive been hurt too, a lot of times and its why ive grown to have trust issues and difficulty in building deep relationships. however, i realized why grace exists and why Jesus came on earth for the broken and not the righteous. Jesus' disciples were also faulty and the ministry was truly a cross to carry, yet he still showed grace, forgiveness, and ultimately love. Church then should be a place where these things begin and should be applied when our human flaws appear. Church is a place of healing, therefore its also a place of sickness and some require a long time to be truly transformed by the Spirit. It especially takes great patience and grace to deal with those. I hope u do find peace in God nevertheless. God bless everyone especially the PKs! its for sure a different battle for us as well, but keep fighting to finish the race 🙏🏼
@@hanaillarapha Thank you very much for your kind comment, brother or sister in Christ! I love your hospital analogy, it's so true. I do hope I'll find peace in God one day and that I'll regain that childlike faith I once had. Hope you've been able to heal from the trust issues, I know exactly what you mean. Relationships and making friends too, that's super hard in the church as a PK. You just feel like you're on the outside looking in sometimes, ya know? Thank you for your encouragement, it actually means a lot to me to hear from another PK and know that it's not just me, ya know? I'll keep you in my prayers, please pray for me as well!
Thank you for sharing your story! Your lived experience comes with a lot of nuance, and unfortunately many people don't allow for nuance in their theology or worldview. I hope you don't get discouraged by zealots in the comments - I'm pretty sure they'll always exist. It's much easier to write a comment than it is to critically think about you and your community's belief system. This isn't a fight any of us are ever going to win, in fact it isn't even a fight at all. It just is what it is. As you've mentioned before, it's a good thing that we don't all think the same. But thank you for doing what you can to create space for nuance in our thinking. We need a lot more of that in our society.
Thank you friend for recognizing that I am trying to create a space for us to reflect on ourselves and our relationship with ourselves and the universe ❤️😊
Can’t stop tearing as I listen to this… I too grew up with Korean pastor as a father. Started questioning the teachings of bible as a teenager. Thanks for your honesty and bravery in taking up this topic! Love your journey❤️
We all need to question at some points. I think some of our journey at the moment in spiritual life is that we look at others and perhaps reason that they should be good examples for us if they called themselves Christians. However, the reality is that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Hence if you take your eyes away from the problems of mankind and look to Jesus as an example, I think our spiritual eyesight will be restored to see the world differently. Seek truth in God's word and you will be set free. John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
@@GoobieAndDoobie Sorry to sound harsh, you can try but you will fail. The reason is human is consumer of love, we do not generate love within ourselves. Love each other without God is also dead end, because we all end up hungry for love, and we do not have enough to go around. God is the true source of all spiritual food, peace joy love etc. Try to run a life without God, you will run out of power sooner or later. Peace Joy Love without God are counterfeit version from the devil, which is not true Peace Joy Love from God. Pray one day God bestows mercy and grace on you, so you can be baptized by the Holy Spirit, and be bestowed the understanding and faith of the gospel to be saved.
Yay!🎉☺️🔅You, again, are being so courageous, and I feel your sharing is from love, for love. Courageous: with heart. I believe this which you share is of God, Goobie.
Dear Dr. G, Thank you so much for sharing from your heart. 💛💛💛 As a recovering evangelical, I’ve found that being in nature brings me closer to God now than all the years I spent growing up in church! One of my favorite quotes is that the only real decisions in life are to operate out of love or fear. I'm glad you've chosen to walk the path of love.
Hi Goobie, I'm a Korean-American PK and a former MK as well. Thank you for sharing your story. I can relate to all the feelings and questions that you mentioned here. After serving for 14 years, I left my family church a year and a half ago and haven't been to any church since then. I am still puzzled by even the very fundamental aspects of Christianity because of the hypocrisy and contradictions I notice with the Bible. Being a gay Asian since coming out at 13, has added another layer of complexity to my "spiritual journey" and strained my relationship with my parents who are still non-affirming to this day. I was also exhausted by being made to feel guilty and afraid for other's salvation when I didn't even know what I believed myself. I feel much freer navigating my life since not being a part of such a community anymore although I voluntarily still hold on to some of the values I've grown up with. Wishing you all the happiness and clarity in life, Goobie!
Just want to tell you that hang on there. Never loose hope or love. I know the majority of Korean christians are against homo sexual but there are lots of Korean Christians who are not against it. No one can judge you, and you don't have to feel guilty about what so ever.
I know you ForeverHeHim! You need to repent. There is no freedom in sinful life. If you want freedom from grace, mercy and life but stay bandaged to destruction and misery, you keep on going in your lies.
You say: I am born gay. Jesus say: you need to be born again. Being gay is not different than any other form of sin, all not accepted by God. By human's own power and will, we can not win the sinful carnal desire, but by the power of the Holy Spirit, nothing is impossible.
You have definitely ruffled some feathers Goobie, and I commend you for speaking your truth. It doesn't really matter whether someone is Christian or not. What matters is that following your heart, a path that is a direct connection with the creator. Using One's heart and soul allows connection with the greatness and being open to listen and trust your heart to receiving and be present. My take on religion is also going to ruffle some feathers as well. Religion was created by man in order to give structure to humanity, as time went on it became misconstrued by any middleman who interpreted the information, which lead to new concepts of belief systems. I believe people are realizing that religion no longer serves them and are looking for a direct connection with Source, a path to love and light.
I can tell that you were someone raised with Christian values. They are deeply ingrained within you, and I believe that your courageously compassionate character is due more to that than you probably know.
@@MondaysMike Got chills from this comment lol. I'm going through this rn. Grew up with my mom, who was a devout Christian, trying to raise me as a Christian even though I was a hard unbeliever for basically my entire life. Now I'm 24 and pursuing a relationship with God for the first time ever.
Omg thisss. Since I've become Christian I started noticing that people raised with Christian values have this different energy to them! You can see when His spirit resides in people.
Thanks for sharing your inner thoughts, Goobie. Let's continue to look within us (our consciousness) and the nature of impermanence, unsatisfactoriness, and non-self. May you be well and happy 🙏.
I was born Jewish, but my family converted to Christianity when I was 13, and I was raised in the Pentecostal Apostolic tradition(s) you're describing. I was also a PK (preacher's kid) and trained for ministry myself. Over time, I studied world religions and learned the Torah and Bible in Hebrew, Aramaic, Latin, and Greek. I even own over 25 different versions of the Bible. In my 40s, I returned to Judaism. After spending over 55 years believing in something outside of myself, the teachings of Neville Goddard now resonate more with my beliefs and mystical experiences. Everything you've said about Christianity and organized religion is true. I regret spending over 50 years believing in external gods and treating the Bible and its letters as secular history when, in fact, it is allegorical and metaphorical literature.
Thank you so much for this video. You now find inner peace and your own identity. I find stoicism similar to Buddhism. You have to love yourself first and live your true life before you can love others including your neighbors and the environment. According to Buddhism, life is impermanent in both positive and negative ways or what Albert Camus calls absurd. When things don't happen the way you wish, then find a positive way to go on, to reduce suffering or to revolt peacefully as Camus put it. I was born in Saigon in a buddhist family. I became confused with religions when I came to the US. My parents never pressured me to believe in any certain religion. Until a few years from now, I find Buddhism extremely helpful -not as a religion but as a way of life, a philosophy. Thank you for sharing this very sensitive issue. I totally agree with you and your conclusion of this video. To me, heaven is on earth depending on how you live your life and treat yourself and your surroundings on earth in the here and the now.
I'm only halfway through the video but I admire the way you think so much, and you're totally right. Your relationship with God cannot be forced, fabricated, formulated, "say these words", give this much money etc. It's completely missing the point. Jesus criticised religous people, again and again, who did this very same thing. People claiming to be wise, boasting about how they keep their traditions when in reality all of their "love" actually had selfish motives and was not real at all and you see this again and again in history. Not every "Christian" knows God. Goobie, I want you to know something. God sees you more than you see yourself. He wants your honest, desperate heart. Theres no formula to it. Its so easy even for me as a christian to go to other people for what God is, rather than God himself. Man will always fall short. i hope this gave you a new prespective ❤. There are many testimonies of people who hated God because people represented Him so poorly, doing horrible things and not living it out, but then came to know God personally. Search up "Bryce Crawford" for example
@@GoobieAndDoobie you are an honest person to yourself, Wow refreshing. I’m 70 yrs now and have heard many stories in my life similar to yours but, each journey is different and unique. Thanks again and please continue to share.
"Each journey is different and unique", indeed. It's so difficult to be open about this topic because it's the people around you, who judge you of stopping going to church, without understanding what you have experienced and gone through as a Christian. Which made me wonder, have they not experienced hurtful experience themselves and they just pretend all is fine and in denial just so they seem to be a good Christian out of fear 🤷🏼♀️. Everyone's story is different, but who would understand and want to understand us? ³¹⁰
Hi Goobie. Thanks for sharing your story! In High School, before I was a Christian, I took honors Physics. One of the laws of Physics that helped bring me to faith in Jesus Christ was the 2nd law of Thermodynamics. I asked myself the question “How did we go from the Bing Bang to Mozart?” According to the 2nd law of thermodynamics, entropy (the cumulative natural decay and breakdown of objects from a state of order to disorder) in the universe always increases, it never decreases. With that thought in mind, I started to reason that we never go from disorder to order cumulatively, but just the reverse! Therefore, Mozart made no sense-UNLESS-there was a grand scheme-a “Master of Ceremonies,” if you will, directing the show, the order and vector of the universe. This reasoning brought me to the view that the only worldview that made any sense was a theistic worldview, and that God did indeed exist! For me the answer to that age-old question of “Are we alone?” was at that moment in 1986 answered with a resounding NO-God is with us! But who then is God, I thought? I then came to understand through the preaching of Dr. Charles Stanley of In Touch Ministries that Jesus was God--not the Buddha-even though I had briefly practiced Buddhism for a week or two in college, but I found that Buddhism left me empty and still searching. I went to college at Drexel University in 1985. While in college the Moonies tried to recruit me, but I rejected the Moonies and the idea that Sun Myung Moon was God. I came to personal faith in Jesus Christ through a traumatic event in my life in March 1986-without going into all the details let me just say it was a crisis point in my life that involved a young woman. I came to faith on a Sunday in March of that year, and I have never been the same since! Whereas before I had no purpose or direction in life-then and now I knew my God, and I knew my calling, and I knew the origin of where I came from, what my purpose was in this life, and where I was heading. God indeed gave me a whole new orientation to life-HIS GPS for living is through Jesus Christ and the filling of His Holy Spirit and the Word of God have guided me to this day!
Crazy that you posted this when I’ve been turning these thoughts over in my mind for weeks now. I feel like many people are going through this journey right now and it makes me feel more sane knowing I’m not alone. Religion can be so overwhelming and confusing.
@@-HolySpiritDove- did you listen to what he said? Hypocrisy is a big one. Also the fact that there are thousands of Christian denominations all claiming they are right about how to worship god. The idea that gods love and grace is somehow earned through your worship. The idea that he talked about in his video that god is part of you and Jesus says to love thy neighbor as yourself but he also says to deny yourself and pick up your cross. The idea that Jesus was perfect and we are called to be like him and feel shame when we fall short. Idk there’s a lot of things that don’t really feel like they make sense and can create a lot of psychological trauma. I do believe in god and Jesus I just don’t know what I’m supposed to do with that. Change my whole personality and the way god creates me and start telling others to do the same? Also the idea of heaven and hell is just weird if you listen to people talks about their near death experiences it makes more sense. Ultimately I feel like most religious people get so caught up in the worldly stuff they become Pharisees and forget about god and ultimately lose touch with their humanity
@@-HolySpiritDove- also just the fact that there are so many religions and they all seem to work pretty well for those who practice them. However some Christian perspectives would say that other religions are demonic. That just seems crazy to me I don’t think it’s so black and white. I don’t think we can put god in a box like that.
@@lukemegaaa Hypocrisy- look to how Jesus lived, not flawed humanity. Denominations- you have to find the one that fits you best based on what you prioritize. Grace- undeserved help from God. Deny self- is about sacrifice. Falling- all fall and have to constantly repent. Unsure what do- continue onwards, don’t give up in the faith. Telling others to change- informing others not telling others. Heaven & Hell- keep listening to peoples’ testimonies. Other religions- can’t all be correct, with different explanation for same thing. Keep well. God bless your soul👼🙌✨💫
Thank you Goobie! What a wonderful gift listening your experience , your intellectual, your insight. Thank you for sharing so we learn from you to ease our lives and people around us. Your videos make me chuckle, make me laugh, make me think, give me joy. You are a wonderful human being. Love you so much. May you, your wife, your Doobie, your loved ones bless with love, joy, happiness and ultimate freedom.
Wowww! The utmost admiration and respect for you. It takes a lot of guts to speak on this topic. Everyone says don’t talk politics or religion… but when we don’t talk about it nothing changes or gets resolved it’s just programmed and conditioned this is how it is. I love that you brought up values and questioning at a deeper level who am I really? We don’t ask that of ourselves… we just don’t question anything and go with the crowd. This is what is limiting us and taking our power away. Profound in love the neighbor as you love yourself. Most people at a deep level don’t love themselves… or at least part of them they don’t love and when that “feeling” comes up they distract themselves with alcohol, drugs, food, sex, over working, retail therapy shopping and the list goes on. You hit the nail on the head we can’t fully love others until we FULLY love ourselves. I grew up as a Christian and stuck in Christian private school… same as you as a kid I questioned everything and came to the same conclusion as you after I did my research and found out the truth about Christianity… Problem is most people can’t handle the truth bcz when the “truth” is taken away… well then who are they? And that’s a scary spot for most to be… themselves and not lead by another. Take back your power friends by understanding the truth of what actually happened and what is happening now. Great work… keep rocking it!
The love that matters not the label. I love your philosophical monologues. You are an excellent teacher. And I don’t mean that you should teach in school. You have a beautiful system working inside of you already. You don’t need restraints and curriculum. I’m always looking forward to hear your thoughts. I wish you only the best!
Wow, again... thank you for sharing. (Oh dear this is way too long but your comments, as always are so thought/experience provoking!) Fellow P.K-er here but raised quite differently from you. I grew up being taught that our way, as Christians, of living and choices are a direct result of the inner working of the Holy Spirit. That, our beilief systems within all of life are guided by a faithful (hungering) desire for God. SO much of what you mention does NOT seem to be about Christianity (following Jesus Christ), but about some of the various ways it has been used to follow the faith as well as manipulate people. Eg. the feeding of the hungry BUT only after they've paid with their time in attending a church service.. And, even bigger to me, the aspect of what you described is "the prosperity gospel" not just with tithing but claiming blessing and giving of your money- abundantly- SO THAT.... you'll basically, be paid back!! I was taught that THAT is the antithesis actually, of what following Christ is about! I actually, also went to seminary, and my "pastorate" and calling was in clinical chaplaincy. It was "pastoring a church" to whomever came through the hospital doors, No matter belief, non belief, athiest, etc... etc... etc... Spiritual care was/is withheld from NO ONE. And as a professional chaplain, we do not seek conversion but to be present to those in need. I LOVE it! I get to meet with, walk alongside, advocate for, people from such a varied rainbow of faiths (or none) and life experiences (of the kind I never would have been priviledged to, if I'd been working in parish ministry!) Not a bad thing just better suited to my skills/gifts/calling. My 'job' was/is to base my 'ministry' and approach to them in a way that is in keeping with their faith tradition or body of beliefs. I do not necessarily share the root of their beiief but as a CLINICAL model, my assessment of their needs, must be based upon THEM, their story, grounding, worldview. It's not about me except for my required clinical training to make such assessments. THAT is very differnet from the narrow and bounded path your experience taught you. AND it was to "patients, familes and staff" which often times included your (professional) kin! Especially in trauma centers. So much of what you've shared here and in previously viewed posts, seems typical to growing up, observing and questioning; healthy and normal! The denomination in which I was raised and yet belong is PCUSA. Definitely not what you have known. Within our society and "Christianity" (especially in the current state of our country's political landscape) it seems that there is very little, to no emphasis, on following Jesus Christ but one of adopting a Law-bound OT approach to life, choices and leglistic rigidity=(SHAME based). And the 'shame' is projected! THAT has nothing to do with the Jesus Christ in the Bible, nothing! When what truly feeds our souls/spirits is the freedom in Jesus Christ; following his commandments. (Looks very different from the religious right in this country and from my understanding of the love and freedom of Christ.) I get that your church upbringing was not conducive to continuing along the same lines as your parents but did you ever look outside the church affiliation in which you were raised? IT was and IS not the only way to comprehend the simple yet huge and life challenging message of Jesus Christ. I do not intend to malign the church of your parents or of anyone else's faith in this, and yet... what you descibe is so completely foreign to MY understanding and experience of Life in Christ as is the political right's alignment with the religious right that I'm not sure we even worhip the same God. There are many in my 'camp' but we tend to not be quite so alienating and demanding of others. So too, the Biblical commandment to 'rule over the earth "AS STEWARDS"!! That means CARE, wisdom, humane treatment, guarding of earth's resources, STEWARDSHIP and not tyranical wastefulness and greed! Too, too much done in the name of religion and specifically of Christianity is a horrific, shameful, despicable, violent, hate-filled racist SINFUL contortion of its true edicts, commandments and Truth. Although extremely difficult, I'd say, Blame the messanger not the message! There is not one topic or arena on earth that is not vulnerable to evil being perpetuated upon it, infused within it and use of it, for the selfish and greed-motivations of those who seek to build their power. To have done this in the name of any religion but specifically in the name of Christianity (given your experience ad focus in this), is a harm that cannot be healed this side of heaven... except by those individuals it has maimed, perhaps. What could I possibly do as a Christian to meke it better? To do as I've done, even in my puny way. I would say it does matter, to your wellbeing and to God. Beyond that it is not anyone's business. Including mine, I have responded as (despite your scientific training and inquisitive and capable mind) you like so many of us, base our conclusive opinion/knowledge of a topic solely on our own experience of it, certainly noy a clinical or scientific approach. But it's is 'human' and natural that we'd allow the harm within the episode(s) of that sometimes be the conclusion or whole story. If I'd had a terrible spinal surgery, would it make any/all spine surgeries BAD? Just sayin'... thank you again, so much, for sharing!
Hello friend who is a clinical chaplain 👋❤️ I thank you for the work you do caring for our fellow human beings. I have worked alongside clinical chaplains before and always felt the compassion and love emanating from them. Thank you for telling me about your experiences and perspective on Christianity. It does help me see different ways of living just like Eckhart Tolle helped me see a different way to understand Jesus’ teachings ❤️✌️
Beautifully and eloquently stated. Your work is, I believe from what you've described, truly the compassionate work of what Jesus taught here on earth. I have never heard of your sect, but I whole-heartedly applaud its philosophy and the work it is dedicated to here on this earth. Thank you. ❤
@@GoobieAndDoobie So kind of you to take the time to get back to me! Thank you and keep sharing your journey. So many of us, out here, need to hear it, model our approach from your open and authentic one that it's quite helpful as well as healing.
as a nursing student and a pk as well, thank you for providing spiritual support to the ppl in the hospital. i see the hospital very similar to the church and it made me more gracious to the ppl at our church hahaha. i also grew up pk and met the best and the worst people there. i went through a time when my faith was shaken due to scandalous affairs going on at our church. it was so bad but i read through the scriptures that even the people of God make grave mistakes yet God shows grace to his children just like David. Jesus chose Judas despite knowing he would betray him. God calls broken people to his ministry and these people still have the choice to sin or obey God. Thats why, its best to focus on Christ and his amazing grace that despite us being sinners, he love us still. To goobie, please do not ever look at men, whether christian or not. You will either fall away or be more lost in this world. Look at Jesus and his unconditional love. God bless you brothers.
This is something ive been confused about for many years, having also grown up in a korean/christian family. Christianity stopped me from living my life fully. Your comment "Loving doesn't come with a price tag... expecting something in return is not love" really resonated with me because its something i always felt. Thank you for discussing this hard topic, you helped me to heal. ❤
It doesn't matter at all.. Jesus wasn't too fond of religion Himself. I personally don't claim any religion; but I do have an amazingly faithful relationship with Jesus Christ !
Goobie, I just found your content, and I wanted to say that I appreciate you and your approach to these big topics. The honesty, gentle nature of your delivery, and empathetic tone all resonate with me deeply. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
Religious people 2000 years ago, in the name of God, hung the only person with no sin on the cross to bleed out to death. They didn’t believe anything he said. They ridiculed him, flogged him and killed him… Humanity hasn’t changed much. But let’s agree on the fact that the truth is very separate from the people who have committed atrocities in the name of the truth. And I have learned that serving God is not only missionary or ministry work, but in the every day quiet life, in every thought and action of a normal person who loves Him. God doesn’t need our money or service.
That was absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for sharing! I have struggled with organized religion and the way man interprets God word for a long time, but I know he exists, and I feel a connection with him and with this world and like you, I believe that God is in everything and that everything has consciousness, and I’ve never put it into words the way you did, but man that was just beautiful and so inspiring
This resonates with me and many others on a very deep level especially given the current political situation here in the U.S. Just stumbled upon your channel today, glad I did.
It never once occurred to me to think about your religion, Dr. Goobie. All I know is you are a good person, a kind person, and you have care in your heart.
Love is the answer. Thank you for being so vulnerable and opening yourself up to criticism from many so called Christians. I agree with your philosophy.
Hi Jonathan, thank you for sharing your story. I came across your other video of quitting your job as a neurosurgeon and found your channel so interesting! I’m Korean Canadian, also born in a Christian family and had similar thoughts as you growing up. However, I do consider myself Christian and do go to church every week with my kids. Recently, my husband (who is also a PK) is going through a lot of the same things as you did. (He’s also an Ekhart fan). He wants to take a break from going to church as he finds it hard to truly believe. I found this hard to accept at first but watching your video helped me understand my own bias. I will def be sharing your video with him!
Goobie, thank you for honestly sharing your thoughts. I'm a Christian. I'm a black American. I love God and my neighbor as myself; which, includes you and everyone else. You've said more than what I can address in the comments. I'm sorry for your bad experiences with people, including people who have done bad things and identify as Christians. However, I don't think it's right to label all Christians or "most" Christians one way, as did you. That's like someone saying all or "most" Koreans are the same in a bad way because "most" Koreans they've seen have been that way. Atrocities, unfortunately, have been committed within every group of people under heaven. I don't have time right now to go further; but, I do have a response. Thank you for sharing!
Check out arugula when you get a chance. And micro greens. You can grow your own micro greens and they are wonderful and great for you. Glad you’re enjoying kale. ❤
I have also been doing kale/spinach drink for 8 days. I have this skin condition on inside my hands. Every time I go to dermatologist he gives me prednisone. We'll 8 days later and I new skin Simply amazing
@@joywhite2447 Are you doing full plant based whole foods/low sodium? Or are you eating some meat too? I have eczema and I have been doing the green smoothies from him and Dr. Brooke Goldner but still eating some meat and I still have eczema 😭
Goobie. Your testimony speaks volumes and reaches a wide range of people from all walks of life brother. I appreciate you for opening up and sharing your life challenges as many of us can resonate with. You insights from a highly intelligent person is welcoming to your audience.
Goobie I have a very similar story to you, I’m Christian and grew up in a Christian family, did the whole Sunday school and youth group. I’ve had my own seasons of doubt but I think it has strengthened my faith. I’m still not a perfect Christian and am still growing in my faith. Thanks for sharing your story and being so open about your experience as a Christian. Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s had these thoughts and experiences. I think currently there is so much noise and inconsistencies about what Christianity is about and who Jesus is. Ultimately it comes down to what the Bible says not what other people say. I feel like a lot of these inconsistencies you talked about are because people are deeply flawed and sinful. We are hypocrites that’s why we need a perfect example like Christ to show us how to love.
I'm going to literally copy past what another poster has said... "Goobie, you are an extraordinarily good person. It doesn't matter what religion, if any, you follow. You are a blessing to me as a viewer when post. Thank you."
I was raised Buddhist (my mom) and atheist (my dad). I was very open minded to everyone. Then I dated a Korean American Christian in college and it turned me off to Christianity 😅 I am late 40s now and I don’t think I’m cut out to be religious because I ask too many questions. But I am spiritual. Because when I’m sitting under the stars, I FEEL the things I imagine a religious person feels in church.
Hey Goobie, I have struggled with Christianity growing up. However, going back to my romanian roots and finding Orthodox Christianity truly opened up another world for me- one of respecting the nature around us, truly understanding Christ, Christoloy, theosis (understanding the spiritual life), rejecting this world and embracing Church tradition along with the countless martyrs and saints who died for the faith. I'm not here to evangelize or anything, but simply saying something, that truly comes from the deepest parts of my heart.
Hello Goobie, firstly I want to say how much I enjoy listening to you speak. As someone who has recently become Christian, I was particularly interested in clicking on this video. I would like to respond to some things that you said: You mention that you've come across Christians who are hypocritical and go against the teachings of Christ. You also mentioned some horrible acts done by Christians which I wasn't aware of, and such acts should always be condemned and brought to light. It makes sense why someone would judge Christianity based on its followers (and I have done so in the past as well), but this is the wrong approach. We as human beings are not perfect (even those who have high authority within the church). It is important to realise that the only perfect human is Jesus Christ. Why then would we base our judgement of Christianity on its imperfect followers, rather than the perfect Christ? I am happy that you became closer to God. There's a quote which I like which says that when you make one step towards God, God makes one hundred steps towards you. PS: At the end of the video when you talked about how even the mountain and the sun is your neighbour is a very beautiful way to look at it, and I think I will adopt the same outlook from now on. Thank you for making these videos.
@@GoobieAndDoobiehave you looked into the New Covenant? The Covenant God made with Abraham? “In you shall all the families of the earth be blessed.” Jesus said “this cup is the new covenant in My blood.” Paul said “when you drink this cup you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” This is found in 1 Corinthians 11:25-26. This is my theory. All of the New Testament was written under the Old Covenant. The apostles were waiting for Jesus to return to take away the Old Covenant (the temple, the levitical priesthood, the animal sacrifices, the laws of Moses) & establish His everlasting kingdom under the New Covenant. This happened in 70AD. So all the scriptures we have in the Bible were written before 70AD. The apostles were looking forward to the New Covenant & preparing everyone for this New Covenant. Jesus was doing the same thing before He went to the cross, to show everyone the Old Covenant was not sufficient because it depended on man instead of God. None of them kept the law of Moses & the ones who seemed to keep it best (Pharisees) were full of the most pride, hate, judgement, extortion and Jesus said to them “the love of God is not in you.” Jesus exposed the hypocrisy of religion. It was the religious who hated Him without a cause & who killed Him despite Jesus never breaking the law. I don’t want this comment to get too long so you can find the New Covenant written in Hebrews 8:7-12. I think this is what you are describing at the end of your video. Also I believe the book of Colossians describes the reconciliation of all things in & through Jesus Christ that God may be all in all. God bless you & bless us all according to His love & mercy established in the blood of the everlasting covenant of Jesus Christ, which no man can add or take away from, the perfect gift & covenant that depends on God. He who promised is faithful. He will do it.
You are right when you say we need to speak the truth. You are doing a good and very difficult thing here. I found this hard to listen to but I do believe that “the truth will set you (us) free”.
I can relate to many of the struggles you mentioned. I grew up in a country where freedom of speech and religion was restricted, and I faced pressure to convert from Christianity. Unfortunately, I also saw a lot of hypocrisy in my church, where people claimed to follow the Bible but lived otherwise, chasing fame and wealth. This led me to move to America, hoping for freedom and a better future. Now, I follow a more spiritual path, still loving Jesus but not in the way pastors often preach. It’s sad how religion is used to control and spread fear, instead of inspiring love and peace. Even here in America, I face challenges, like being judged for my accent rather than my thoughts. I believe we should focus on making life better on earth, creating a kind of heaven here, instead of chasing power, greed, or even life on other planets. Why can’t we share wealth and create universal income so everyone can enjoy life? There’s so much work to be done to care for our planet and its creatures, but will human greed ever allow us to stop and do what’s right?
Goobie, I’m a Buddhist but like most Asian kids, I was sent to both Christian and Catholic schools all my life. Religions are pure, it leads you to be a better person. They only become tarnished and objected only because of our opinions and condemnation. Just be a good person and trust your beliefs and principles.
I just try to practice the 5 Buddhist perceptions and mindful meditation. I like one of the Buddha’s quotes “Happiness is a choice, No thing will make you happy, No person will make you happy. Your happiness will not come to you, It can only come from you”
Thank you for another heartfelt video. I definitely can relate to all of your videos that I’ve watched so far as a retired medical worker of 25 years. I actually hated myself for choosing that line of work. I’m married to a PK who had a lot of church hurt. We ended up converting to Eastern Orthodox Christianity because it was different enough that he didn’t have flashbacks during church services. Our form of Christianity agrees with you that “God is everywhere present and fills all things.” Whether you or anyone else considers you a Christian or not is irrelevant because you are a beautiful, loving and kind person that speaks the truth as you understand it. I’m grateful
❤️ thank you for sharing your and your partners life experiences. I did not know that Eastern Orthodox Christianity talks about how God is everywhere present and fills all things. Thanks for teaching me
Goobie, I wanna say a big thanks for sharing this. christian or not christian, I wish for you to keep being true to yourself and never lose hope to keep on living no matter how hard life is.
I really appreciate your sharing your thoughts and experiences so bravely, on subjects that people tend to be unwilling to talk about unless they are safely in the mainstream. You are a gentle, kind, deep-thinking and honest nonconformist. Thank you for creating a RUclips channel. I agree there is a lot of horrible stuff in history, and honestly in nature more broadly, and it's hard to square that with the ideals we may seek, but you're right, in my opinion, that we have to at least acknowledge it as real. I wasn't raised consistently going to church, and that has ebbed and flowed. I don't go very often now, because I also don't really fit with conventional interpretations of the Bible. I did start reading some of the New Testament as a teenager (I'm now in my 50s), and I really liked the teachings of Jesus, though I understood them differently from how they were explained in the Bible footnotes and at church. There are plenty of inconsistencies in the Bible - horrible actions that were attributed as God's will, even though Jesus talks about His Love - and most churches don't talk about that. I have come to see the Bible not as the infallible Word, but as a history of a group of people reaching for a God they hope is there, and having patchy success in understanding him. But I think everyone and everything is on a journey; I think it is worthwhile to spend one's life gleaning wisdom and kindness from all sources, including what I've found in the Bible. And I still have hope in a loving God, and in some sort of continuation of life for us in which we will continue to learn and grow in love. I'm mostly a Universalist, believing that a truly loving God has an ultimate design for *all* of us children (including the Devil) to learn how to love, and be a whole and healed family. In relation to the disconnect between the Two Greatest Commandments, there's a child's devotional book that a friend gave me, that bridges that very thing. It connects Jesus's words "Love your neighbor as yourself", and "Love one another as I have loved you", and then logically deduces that you have to love yourself. It goes on to talk about what that means - not prideful self-love, lording it over others and grasping for attention, but generous love to give of your being. Sharing your joys and interests with others, and listening to theirs. Encouraging and communing. Again, I think the ultimate goal is a huge loving family, and that involves not only children loving their Parent, but children loving each other. Love is the medium, and Love is (I think) God Himself.
You are sincere and eloquent with this. As others have said, it’s a difficult topic. I’m a believer who is realizing that grace is the most important part of Jesus’ message.
Having a relationship with Jesus. Not all your problems will be solved right away. But I love His manifest presence and Jesus helped me get through a lot of stuff.
Hi Goobie, I'm from Bulgaria and watched your video carefully. I like that you put a dividing line between the teachings of Jesus Christ and what people do. I am sure your mother and father are sincere believers. I have heard many good things about Koreans and we even have missionaries like that here in Bulgaria. Unfortunately your mother and father have fallen into a church that is not healthy. And when the doctrine and foundation is not sound(speaking in tongues and prosperity gospel), you usually end up with what you have experienced. I want to tell you something. You don't ever need people to deny you seeking God and stand as a barrier between you and God because each one of us will stand individually in judgment and answer for ourselves. You make good videos and lead an interesting lifestyle, but remember that it will never bring you true peace and salvation because sin has plagued our feelings and emotions. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can forgive sins. Seek a healthy church where you are and pray about it and God will direct you.
Thank you for making and sharing this video. Thank you also for the descriptive history lesson- they sure don’t teach that in the school history books. The indigenous people were raped of their land and culture and as a race. The truth must be told indeed. There was a social study experiment done on young babies and if they have a sense of morality. By tracking their eye movements and the length of time it stayed fixed on various puppets, most babies preferred the puppet that helped rather than hurt another puppet. However, most babies also preferred the puppet that had the same snack preference as them, implicating social bias, even if those same puppets end up hurting another puppet. It appears that babies have an internal sense of morality but in particular for others who are similar to us. Once we see the other as “other”- that is separate from us and wholly different from us in our limited perception, there is less concern and care for them. And that allows for violence to happen.
Hi, Goobie I’m sorry to hear that there was inaccurate teaching you have learned as a child about tithing. I was taught that it is more an act of worship and gratitude for the blessings I have received and not with the promise of getting material blessings in return . I love your authenticity !
Thank you for this thoughtful video and sharing your complex journey with faith. I've also had a complicated history with my Christian beliefs. As the child of Asian immigrants, I also grew up in the church, left, and came back to it (currently) warts and all, problematic history and all. There's still beauty and goodness to be found there despite massive historic wrongs. There's also aspects of social justice and social action in Christianity too - see Catholic liberation theology- and surprising complementarity with other philosophies like Stoicism and writers like Eckhart Tolle that continue to inform my daily living, alongside my Christian faith. Keep your questioning heart❤
You spoke the absolute truth, you didn't put down Christ at all, you don't understand how such words can be misconstrued for such horrible atrocities, that's fair.
I left christianity until I was lead into Eastern Christianity. Radically different! There are so many truth and amazing teachings in Budhism that are absent in western christianity, but fulfilled in Eastern Christianity. Much love, best of luck in your journey of life
I temporarily stayed in a monastery in Thailand and learned lessons from an Ajan. He directly pointed out that we should first love ourselves so we have the ability to love life, love others, and love everything around us, and I believe more people should be aware of this because few of us really know who we are and what life we want to live that we spent so much time pursuing the standardized kind of success. I am still in high school, and I feel strongly that we need education for spiritually because I see so many of my peers dedicated to exams and applications but sacrifice so much of their physical and mental health. It's heartbreaking to see that they suffer but not knowing what causes that suffering and how to alleviate it. Your video really is making a huge impact that helps with so many people who have similar struggles. Thank you so much ❤
@amarischen3408 Hey, glad to know another fan of Goobie living in Thailand. You raised a good point. Many people love their goals more than their health and present happiness. Hope this change. ❤
@@GoobieAndDoobie Thank you! It is my privilege to travel and learn from those who possess the wisdom, but many people don't have those opportunities. This is why I feel very happy that we can actually be healed on an online platform! Great respect towards you and many thanks for the positive impact you made in these videos!
It's funny to me how so many people feel they need to choose a side when all of creation is a tapestry woven from the same thread. I look at the grains of rice in my bowl and imagine how funny it would be if they started to separate themselves into groups with different beliefs, which would be right? When I was in my early 20's I had a spiritual experience and I saw myself as not a separate entity on earth, but as just another leaf on a great tree, along with everything else in existence. We are that thing I call The All manifested as an infinite tapestry yet woven of a single thread. Break down a human and a stone to the most basic elements and they would be indistinguishable. We are all one thing playing a game. Here and gone in the blink of an eye, just be happy or find that happiness if you need to.
Thanks for sharing your spiritual experience. I am with you in seeing all of us as part of the same thing regardless of whatever label some people decide to put on themselves. In the end, we are all part of the same consciousness ❤️✌️

Those were my ancestors I'm a northern Cheyenne ❤
@BlaidTheBard You're off topic.

(I was studying in college to be a teacher at the time, went on to teach 10 years, and walked away from it at the end of last academic year.)
I've really grown to wholeheartedly dislike that statement, wondering how many truths have died because of this line of thinking. People who have lost battles because they couldn't overcome the false narrative built against them. It's a shame that it's the way the world works.
I'm currently not working within my degree(s). So much of what he talks about resonates with me, and it makes me feel less alone.

I have struggled with this for a very long time… I guess I’ve come to the personal conclusion that people exploit Jesus to exploit others for personal gain… but when you really know Jesus the energy is not what is portrayed in the church.

Very true!
I think most church members do the best they can. Not to be perfect, but to love God and get to know him better. It is sin in the world that messes everything up and why none of us is perfect.
Yes! This is what I've thought for a long time.
Stay safe and thoughtful!
yeah unfortunately only people misunderstanding are religious folks. REMOVE THE VEILS AND LOOK AROUND.
Thank you for your gift ❤️ I will be thoughtful and careful on these sensitive subjects

There are a couple of things I would like to say. First, don't put your faith on people, only in God. It seems that a lot of the things that you've mentioned has something to do with the failures of people. Second, continue to seek the truth. When you're up for it, read the bible again.

Hello friend who is also a PK 👋❤️ I love you. I’m learning to love myself and love my neighbors.
I know what you mean, korean church and parents jacked me up my parents are so fake and my kids think i am fake too
We all need to question at some points.

@@kavvahna: yes, he does, and so are you. Repent unless you want to be cursed and live in misery!! Why invite destruction and death?
I agree 100% I don’t consider myself religious but I consider myself faithful and I think that’s the most important thing
I can tell that you were someone raised with Christian values. They are deeply ingrained within you, and I believe that your courageously compassionate character is due more to that than you probably know.
I suspect you are right ❤️✌️
Ah, can't help love the understatement of suspect. 😅@@GoobieAndDoobie

May you be well and happy too. I wish you love and peace in your life ❤️
I was born Jewish, but my family converted to Christianity when I was 13, and I was raised in the Pentecostal Apostolic tradition(s) you're describing.
Thanks for the post Goobie
❤️❤️❤️
Hello friend 👋❤️thanks for sharing your wisdom. We have come to many of the same conclusions ✌️
Yes! they have similarities. Stoicism, Buddhism and Taoism (Dao)
I love Goobie❤ This was a very insightful talk.
❤️
Couldn't have said it better.
Thanks!
Thank you for your generous gift ❤️
Charles Stanley………R I P……..❤

Crazy that you posted this when I’ve been turning these thoughts over in my mind for weeks now. I feel like many people are going through this journey right now and it makes me feel more sane knowing I’m not alone. Religion can be so overwhelming and confusing.
What confuses you?

Hypocrisy- look to how Jesus lived, not flawed humanity.

I grew up as a Christian and stuck in Christian private school… same as you as a kid I questioned everything and came to the same conclusion as you after I did my research and found out the truth about Christianity…
Problem is most people can’t handle the truth bcz when the “truth” is taken away… well then who are they? And that’s a scary spot for most to be… themselves and not lead by another.
Take back your power friends by understanding the truth of what actually happened and what is happening now.
Great work… keep rocking it!
The love that matters not the label. I love your philosophical monologues. You are an excellent teacher. And I don’t mean that you should teach in school. You have a beautiful system working inside of you already. You don’t need restraints and curriculum. I’m always looking forward to hear your thoughts. I wish you only the best!
Wow, again... thank you for sharing.
(Oh dear this is way too long but your comments, as always are so thought/experience provoking!)
Fellow P.K-er here but raised quite differently from you.
My 'job' was/is to base my 'ministry' and approach to them in a way that is
in keeping with their faith tradition or body of beliefs.
(Looks very different from the religious right in this country and from my understanding of the love and freedom of Christ.)
I get that your church upbringing was not conducive to continuing along the same lines as your parents but did you ever look outside the church affiliation in which you were raised?
There is not one topic or arena on earth that is not vulnerable to evil being perpetuated upon it, infused within it and use of it,
for the selfish and greed-motivations of those who seek to build their power.
Just sayin'...
thank you again, so much, for sharing!

as a nursing student and a pk as well, thank you for providing spiritual support to the ppl in the hospital. i see the hospital very similar to the church and it made me more gracious to the ppl at our church hahaha. i also grew up pk and met the best and the worst people there. i went through a time when my faith was shaken due to scandalous affairs going on at our church. it was so bad but i read through the scriptures that even the people of God make grave mistakes yet God shows grace to his children just like David.
Exactly, there is the Christian religeon and there is a relationship with Christ. Different things.

I would like to respond to some things that you said:
You mention that you've come across Christians who are hypocritical and go against the teachings of Christ.
❤️✌️
❤️
Thank you so much for this teaching! As i have said before, you are a man of integrity.
Praying for you !
❤️✌️
Our form of Christianity agrees with you that “God is everywhere present and fills all things.”
Whether you or anyone else considers you a Christian or not is irrelevant because you are a beautiful, loving and kind person that speaks the truth as you understand it.
Hi Goobie,
I'm from Bulgaria and watched your video carefully.
Wow that is a remarkable and revealing experiment. Thanks for sharing that
@@GoobieAndDoobie I think I saw that covered on 20/20 or 60 Minutes show. Done at Yale, I think?
God will meet you where you are, like he did Elijah, in the wilderness. God bless you, dear brother.
Thank you. Again.
Being authentic.❤
Hi, Goobie I’m sorry to hear that there was inaccurate teaching you have learned as a child about tithing. I was taught that it is more an act of worship and gratitude for the blessings I have received and not with the promise of getting material blessings in return . I love your authenticity !
Same here
It matters, most.
A bad deed in the name of Jusus doesn't make Jusus false but displays a false or bad Christian.
God bless!
❤️
Goobie, you always brighten my moment when I see you.❤🇵🇹
You spoke the absolute truth, you didn't put down Christ at all, you don't understand how such words can be misconstrued for such horrible atrocities, that's fair.
I struggled with Christianity as well. Too much hypocrisy, without remorse or self awareness. I’ve chosen to be an Agnostic Buddhist.
I left christianity until I was lead into Eastern Christianity. Radically different! There are so many truth and amazing teachings in Budhism that are absent in western christianity, but fulfilled in Eastern Christianity. Much love, best of luck in your journey of life
Human behaviour has nothing to do with the truth of Christ.
😂😂😂 mf ppl
Wow you have such great wisdom at a young age ❤️✌️
@@SunnyMidnite221 Wow thanks for sharing! His lecture is very inspiring❤
You precious precious man !! you have the heart of St Francis, follow the light who is leading you and you will find all the Truth and the answers. Blessings, and Love
I’m only halfway in but wanted to THANK YOU for such Honesty!!
God Bless you brother!
