    I found a phallic rock. Very phallic. Offered it to Freyr proclaiming "to Freyr I offer this phallic rock, may it never go soft!" While surrounded by 30 other people 👀

    Those lines of seeing Freyr in the rust of a plow and bones of a buck also reminds me to take time to rest in the winter. It's hard to find time to be still and contemplative and allow the body and mind to replenish and rebuild in the industrialized and tech saturated culture we've become. For all time we in the north have worked hard from spring to late fall but had months to be slow and sit by the fire. It's only been a few generations since we've changed that. We've been convinced that hustle culture, being always on, always working, always gaining, is natural. It's not. All the tech and advancements we have are great when used wisely and part of that wisdom is knowing when to lay dormant for a time to rest and center yourself. Seek and remember who we are.

    Funny cause in Sweden l was taught that Freyr loves to laugh & have a good time. The God of partying. Midsommer is associated with him too. Why we dance around the pole, drink party and swim naked on midsommer🥰

    I like the concept of Frey/Freyr although you are right there is not a lot of info. Great video as always my brother and have a wonderful end of the week. Snorri was a christian and I hold no punches when I say I don't put any weight in what christians say regarding the Gods/Goddesses of my folk. And as a woman I too have an affection towards phallic things particularly my husbands.

    I’m with you! I find bodily fluid offerings kinda disrespectful rather than honouring but maybe I’m vanilla too 😂🤷‍♀️ I kept seeing Freyrs name and references to him everywhere lately and then found an entire deer skeleton in the woods the other day after years of never finding anything up there and was so amazed and grateful as I’m so connected to bones for some reason and have collected them for years and years and since I found the deer I’ve seen him everywhere still too and I asked last night for a clear sign from him if it is him wanting to reach out to me and I get your video and then the reference to the bones too so I guess they were from him and he does want me for something right now and I’m more than happy to work with him 🥳🎉🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️

    I loved this video. Great Job! I am a Vanir girl :) Thanks Jacob! I loved that you put in the California Yule story of Freyr. That was fantastic! And of course the Freyr ritual from the Wisconsin gathering this spring was great too :) The Ohio ritual was my favorite :) I love how the Fellowship of Northern Traditions has such a diverse way to worship the Gods. Everyone brings their love and their words and their rituals to the group and it keeps it fresh and beautiful. Your prayer to Freyr at the end made me tear up.

    I am enjoying these videos on the Gods and Goddesses of our tradition. They help supplement my personal studies. The medium of video seems to "stick" better in the mind due to so many perceptions being fed (audio, visual) and the energy behind them. A nice blend of humor and information. Keep it up! Hopefully one day I can share a fire and a pipe with you when and if you find yourself in Texas.

    Sometimes I have a sneaking suspicion Snorri deliberately chose stories that portray the gods in a less than stellar light, or where they're being silly and almost made fun of 😒

    • @Aethuviel
      @Aethuviel Год назад

      There definitely is a lot of that. Thor, most beloved, the god of the common man, brave and kind, became a "dumb brute". Freya was reduced to a "slut". Odin, cruel and uncaring. So we really have to take care when going through Christian sources, because they had every reason to smear our ancestral gods.

    • @wolfhunter6678
      @wolfhunter6678 4 месяца назад

      That's almost assuredly what he had to do. He was writing in a time when if you wrote of pagan gods positively you could be tried as a heretic and executed. Making the gods appear as anything but less than Christian God would have been bad.

    Truthfully at first I was a little off put by the prayers you do at the beginning in the end but as I got to thinking about it it's actually so beautiful to get to see you do this private thing. It's also really cool because some people are better than words than other and then people can use kind of similar words that you use to help them build their prayers. I really like what you're doing here and where you're going and it's really helping rebuild my relationship in my faith to these gods.

    That's fascinating. The ancient historians that they say proves Christ existence refer to him as Christian lore or, my favorite by Celsus that the Christians of his time referred to him allegorically. Meanwhile the Norse deities are referred as real by a Christian.

      True. I'm Christian, and we do believe the dieties are real. They are the Elomhim, and we are to respect them. As in, we can't cross the line into a spiritual warfare with them unless God gives the command first.

    We shouldn’t be shy 🙈 talking about sex and good sex is a good skill to cultivate and important. Thank you for sharing. we have strong sexual attractions to people or given these feelings to not only enjoy pleasure but to also meet and have more children I guess but more should be talked about in the skill in the art of lovemaking and I’ve gone to Jamaica and Mexico and they’ve had statues of figures with her erection it makes you laugh. Additionally I think that is good to have a garden goddess for sexuality because we get busy working and these times especially we are working a lot of hours and get busy cleaning your houses and cooking food and spending time with our family and sometimes we just get out of touch with each other and lose track of time and aren’t spending time having sex with your partner or people I don’t have partners get introverted or on the computers too much you know.

    Freyr called out to me. In my life many big things occur during the end of winter and beginning of spring. My sexual drive is unlike any other. I felt it in my heart that he was my patron god but I did a rune pull to confirm, lo and behold the one tile I pulled was Ingwaz… Freyrs rune! I don’t know how to properly worship any god, not sure if I believe they’re still around or if they’re just personifications of the universe around us, maybe a bit of both. We can not tell until the end anyways.

This is most most likely just a coinsidence - but I thought it could make some of you smile to know that every time you talk about Snorre Sturlasson you are actually saying "dick" in contemporary Swedish. I know that this is meant as a question to him but I’ve been waiting for someone to ask me this so I will snatch this opportunity, I’m honestly not that offended but I do find slightly disrespectful, I don’t think it’s too bad but still they got so many things wrong and it kinda just makes me slightly annoyed to see our ancient culture put in screen with this many mistakes. One time when I told someone that I honour gods like Thor, Odin and Loki he just said: “oh so you are a marvel fan” I replied with “I do like marvel but what does that have to do with my faith.” I find it kinda funny to think that people think marvel made the aesir gods, yet it just is sorta disrespectful to make your franchise so popular and not clear up that people who are Norse pagan aren’t just huge marvel fans. Anyway I have been ranting for a bit, I just had to get this off my chest.

      Asatru is a new term from the late 1900s. It means "Faith in the Aesir" which leaves out the other beings that are commonly followed and venerated within the larger pagan world. Including the Vanir Gods.
      Asatru groups often tend to be closed off, political, or gate-keeping towards who can practice the faith today.
      I find the vast majority of people who follow the norse gods today, do not like the term Asatru.

    Considering that Odin was a real man from Asgard in ancient Anatolia, who had one "all seeing eye" ,who was from the Hebrew tribe of Dan, why would it be wrong to assume that the other Norse gods were also once mere mortal men? For that matter there's a case to be made that the Aesir and Vanir were just two sects within that group. Amazing how close those names are to Assyrian and Vandal which, ironically, are two ancient divisions of the same Hebrew tribe of Dan.
