My best comes after taking a full day off, away from pressure, getting lots of outdoor exercise and thinking through how I want to be. I very much wish I could do this in less time as taking a whole day is costly. I suspect it’s possible.

This approached clicked with my brain so well, and it is as if a lightbulb turned on in a very dark room! The best line is “ADHD is a state, not a trait.” I might have to get a tattoo of that. Suddenly I could see how I can engineer better days for myself, and the barrier in my mind against morning exercise fell when I remembered that the times in my life when I practiced morning yoga, weight training or took a spin class were my happiest and most productive. It is funny how a reframe of something you already know can be so enlightening. Made my list - wish me luck in executing!

I wouldn't say I've completely "mastered" it (is that a thing? 😂) but I could not agree more! I'm still struggling with learning to work with my brain as a whole, I wasn't even diagnosed until 2 years ago - after learning emotional regulation, but everything was harder before having any concept of it!
For me DBT is was helped me fully grasp it. The mindfulness and distress tolerance are super helpful in this as well. DBT basically gave me a well-rounded framework with a variety of methods

That's really helpful to know! I've never tried it, but I've heard of it.

What if working toward my dream is making me too excited? I quit my job a little over a week ago to pursue my dream full time. I have good intentions of getting to bed by 10 because I know I can't sleep past 6. And sometimes I wake up even earlier because I can't wait to get started! Would this be considered emotional disregulation too? To be too excited? Is not getting eough sleep making it harder to get enough sleep? What the heck!? It's been going on a long time, back when I was working all day and pursuing the dream in the evenings. I feel like I've tried everything, so if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

I also wondered about this or whether it is mania. I have been diagnosed with both bipolar and ADHD and I suspect I am actually one or the other!! They seem to be quite easy to confuse, especially in women.

Could it be that you're in a state of hyperfixation? This is also a common ADHD trait. This, combined with common timeblindness issues can cause you to just keep working. ADHDers also struggle with transitions, so once you get into things, it's hard to get out.
How can you set external cues to help you stop? Do you live with someone who can start giving you cues? Alarms? It's great that you're so excited about what you're doing, but if you're not managing your creative energy, it can lead to burnout.
What can you do to set up external boundaries for yourself?

What if you do your recipe and someone is really rude at work or a family member hurts you. Then how do you emotionally regulate back to a productive self after those kind of situations?

Slow, deep breaths, focus on the heart area and think of a regenerative feeling, like calm or peace. Stay with that for as long as you can. You don't even have to close your eyes. It will help you regluate your nervous system

Meds are helpful for helping with awareness and focus, but it really comes down to understanding your triggers, and being aware of how your body is feeling in the moment. If you're not feeling safe, calm, grounded, it might not be obvious at first. It's a practice, but it's a worthwhile endeavor. Also, as the commenter above mentioned, DBT might help (or therapy in general).

I love you and your channel, but this editing is overkill. The audio is not synched and the sound effects and slicing and zooming and and out is just too erratic. Your videos were just fine the way they were. You’re captivating enough on your own. 🤗
