Yes. I'll add that some mediocre superhero movies that should have done poorly, ended up doing fine just because they where part of the MCU and like, required viewing at that point. THAT is something I think people are sick of.
We're not tired of superheroes in general. We're tired of Disney and by extension Marvel's assembly line approach to filmmaking. Nothing feels personal anymore.
Yea like I thought i had superhero fatigue after endgame but then i saw the batman 2022 and watched some older superhero movies like watching superman for the first time and rewatching man of steel after 6 years and realized i was tired of the sameyness of the mcu and wanted them to diversify their tones and be more sincere. Even then i was sick and tired of quips
Still wrong. You're tired of bad quality. That's it. Bc when the "assembly line" movies were good for a decade there were little complaints, correct? Then you get the mediocrity of Phase 4 now all of a sudden the "assembly line" is the problem lol
@@AntwannnnThank you. No one else thinks about this because they don’t have to because the internet is their side, therefore so is the world so why do they need to think otherwise? People shitting on the MCU for its current state and praising stuff like The Batman and Joker JUST for its “personal touch” make me laugh at the whole Batman v Superman vs Civil War fiasco where most people (and audiences by box office measure) just said, “why don’t you do what marvel is doing because they clearly know what they’re doing” But it’s only wrong NOW because they don’t have the same quality despite their doing business the same way since 2012 Some of these people lack self awareness
@@Antwannnn that and the fact that phases 1-3 were all leading up to something and it all felt like they contributed to the world they were building helped. @Dang Good Food! no, that person is saying they're excited to see Across the Spider-Verse AND the other three films. Note "that" at the beginning of the list. It's implying the film that was already mentioned.
My biggest issue with superhero movies at the moment is that they’re more focused on the wider story rather than the characters. I loved the Netflix shows because they didn’t feel like they were building towards anything. Sure, they were working towards The Hand, but even still they focused more on the characters. The Batman… built towards NOTHING. Just hinted at some stuff to come. Absolutely fantastic movie. The winter soldier, while still building towards the bigger story, focused more on characters, and that movie was at the top of my MCU ranking for a while
true, also this world building creates problem on its own which you mentioned. The movie we are watching doesnt mean anything... its actually just a long trailer for the next movie.
Agree with what you said. I loved that the focus of The Batman was Bruce Wayne himself and his journey, the emphasis is put on the characters and their development
I sure hope I'm not in the minority to disagree with the ENTIRE sentiment of what you said. the movies are bad in part because they are stretched too thin making things that don't lead into the rest and in doing so are making just too many things. the shows were the first major flaw of the franchise
The way I've heard it described is that the success of the MCU has lead to each subsequent film becoming more and more nothing but an advertisement for the subsequent installment, which is in turn and advertisement for the installment after that. It's a literal hype train, with each movie being another train car.
Honestly you hit the nail on the head with it It's not a fatigue of Superheroes themselves it's a fatigue of them constantly getting shoved into mediocre movies Also I'd love for you to cover more video game stuff
See I think Guardians 3 definitely disproved the “people are tired of superhero movies”. That movie is killing it financially and critically. I think they are just sick of sloppily put together like Quantumania.
Bro guardians of the galaxy vol. 3 is a sci-fi/adventure film set in space. No body has super powers, most of them are aliens. I have superhero fatigue. People flying around in capes gets boriing after a while...bring back gritty crime thrillers or any other genre apart from horror that is no longer in the mainstream becomes of an oversaturation of boring ass superheroes...
I'm not tired of superheroes so much as I'm tired of the connected universe stuff. You can have characters like Spider-Man exist in a world where Iron Man and Hulk also exist without making them team up every movie or set up three other movies/shows.
I think there's a certain critical mass to even a successful interconnected universe. After which you're just juggling too much stuff and those serendipitous team ups no longer give the fans a dopamine rush. As much as RUclips seems to be losing its mind about Super Hero fatigue. That tends to be what happens with Fads. They run for about a decade, getting bigger and bigger, until they eventually flame out and begin to decline, limping along until something else displaces them. That 's not to say Super Hero movies will disappear. They'll just hopefully return to being one genre among many.
Finally someone else noticed that every single Marvel movie since phase 4 has had one of the villains redeemed, I thought I was the only one who noticed that!
People have been talking about "Superhero fatigue" for like a decade now. I think if superhero movies were more focused on the individual stories they can tell rather than the universe, I think people wouldn't be as critical about the "superhero genre"
I don't get why is it so important for the audiences to have a cinematic universe of any kind. I know why studios like the idea, but what's the intrigue for the viewer? But then again I've never much cheered for crossovers and collaborations anyway 🤷🏻♂️
This is why I’m glad The Boys and Invincible exist. They both take a different turn on comic book media and they’re both highly accessible unlike the MCU where you have to watch one thing in order to understand the other.
The Boys, crucially, isn't a superhero story. It has a whole bunch of ideas about Fascism, Celebrity culture, Capitalism, etc. But it's not a Superhero story. Invincible is a Superhero story but told in a subversive, dark way while still being sincere. I wouldn't count The Boys as Superhero media. The fact that they're superheroes is tangential to the main themes. Invincible is a bonafide superhero story.
@@salvadorHombre its funny because the boys comic is 100% a superhero story Like they are fighting villains in the corrupted superheroes, they make a team to fight against them and even get superpowers to do it The guy who made the boys clearly didnt like the superhero genre but i will always find funny how in his attempt to dismantle the genre he made a generic superhero story
James gunn said he's giving directors of his DC universe more creative freedom so I say in terms of variety, superhero movies may have a brighter future
People aren’t tired of Superhero movies, they’re tired of movies that are essentially treated like sitcom episodes. It’s actually so refreshing seeing a movie that IS the project. Like it’s so rare for a single film to be something that everyone involved seems to truly care about and not just part of the job
I have superhero fatigue. People flying around in capes gets boriing after a while...bring back gritty crime thrillers or any other genre apart from horror that is no longer in the mainstream becomes of an oversaturation of boring ass superheroes...
The issue is not the "Cinematic Universe", but rather the idea that everything that's part of it needs to be made in the exact same way. Give directors freedom to do the movie they want (hire good ones, and good writers) and just find the way to tie this diverse movies together through the general arc and the shared world, rather than style and tropes.
We need to see more superhero films like Werewolf by Night, not just in the horror sense (although that would be nice), but with unique styles of filming, writing, acting, etc. Like you said, not every movie needs to be an action/comedy with the virtually same plot.
I really like your pov on this. Especially after RUclips's been throwing "the MCU is doomed" videos at me for weeks. I would love to see the MCU take more risks, but also I still like at least some of what's coming out.
Video game adaptions are definitely the next big trend. Mario is hitting a billion soon, people were praising The Last of Us, Sonic 3 is coming next year and Ghost of Tsushima is getting hyped up by its director
@@KnightEclipser It’s still an adaptation of the video game exploring League’s often overlooked lore. Not a good film, but would you not say the Uncharted film isn’t a video game adaptation because it’s a prequel. There both projects adapted based off a video game, which is all that’s really needed to adapt a video game more. The Mario movie is also a prequel, where Mario is learning about the Mushroom kingdom.
That seems to be right.... But Marvel made a very different movie, with less humor. It was a good movie, but Fandom lost their S%$* about it. So after The Eternals, Marvel went back to their standard movies. The fans SAY they want something different, but obviously the fans want the same movie over and over.
@@langreeves6419 the Winter Soldier is regarded as one of the best mcu films, and is known for having less humor. The Eternals would’ve needed a tv show if it wanted to tell it’s story properly
@vannydd it was a self contained movie, it needed no TV show The winter soldier was a standard m c u movie The eternals was something different. And fans do not want something different.
@@langreeves6419 I don’t think this is true. People dislike the eternals simply because they think it’s bad. Fans really liked werewolf by night which is clearly different.
@@MahNamJeff naaah you'd be surprised the way people would say, "Avatar 2 will be a flop if it doesn't make more than 2 billion," but then they turn around and act as if Black Adam was a success. Straight up coo coos
If those movies flop it’s not because they’re superhero movies, but rather bad movies. Superhero fatigue isn’t a thing, just like anime fatigue isn’t a thing; people will always rush to the theaters to see these kinds of movies because the market is so large for them. People are still excited for the next The Batman movie, the next Avengers film, Sony SpiderVerse, the new James Gunn DCU slate, Deadpool 3 etc… and people will go see them. The fatigue is in the quality of the movies, not the genre of movie. If all the MCU Phase 4 movies were actually good and well made (encouraging more people to see them and thus making better box offices), ‘superhero fatigue’ would be out of the picture.
In my experience and in my case, it's not superhero fatigue, badmovie fatigue or even MCU fatigue, it's just movie fatigue. I think this is what some, not all, people have and don't even realize it. Think about it, for most of our history we never consumed as much media as we do now. Consuming media was (mostly) restricted to shows with certain times you could watch it at and theaters before it goes into DVDs and all of sudden we don't have that anymore. We have so much content that we can't keep up with, everyone is always watching a new movie or a new series and catching up with anything that came before. Everyone has watched everything and somehow the people making movies and shows have to create something new? This is just my opinion and my experience.
Multiverse of Madness hyping itself up as the “scariest movie of the MCU” just to not deliver really killed a good part of my enjoyment watching it. The Talocans introduction in Wakanda Forever alone was more bone chilling than the “horror” entry of MCU.
Imagine the kind of sence with vampires in mcu blade with the R rated and see vampires bring completly carnage on a village on human beings in silence and will play iut like a very creepy and disturbing almost like it was riped off from a horror manga
I have to admit that other movies like Elvis, Top Gun: Maverick, and Bullet Train we’re fairly good movies and I’d argue, better than recent Marvel and DC movies (except The Batman, No Way Home, Wakanda Forever)
As much as everyone adores Everything Everywhere All at Once, Bullet Train was probably my favourite movie of 2022. (EEAAO is great, but I just couldn't resonate with the message).
James Gunn said it best when talking about the idea of superhero fatigue. He said the problem doesn't lie within the genre itself it just lies with how it's presented. people aren't tired of superhero movies they're just tired of movies that have poor lackluster plots. Quality beats quantity every single time. That's why a lot of people unsubscribed to the MCU and started to tune in to more indie superhero comic book related projects like Invincible, The Umbrella Academy and The Boys. those projects have consistant writers that 1.)Understand what type of context they're putting out. and 2.) Put more effort into story and character depth before "the message" in order to provoke positive responses from the vast majority of their audience.
I also believe that people after watching so many superhero movies now have incredibly higher standards for these movies now. Also suddenly everybody is just an expert in CGI now for some reason which gets annoying at some points
I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on the Zelda series, especially with Tears of the Kingdom about to drop and already being a very, very big deal. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for anything in my entire life, and that’s saying something considering we got Infinity War, Endgame, The Batman, the entire MCU Spidey trilogy, and so many other outstanding projects in recent years. More TV show content would be a welcome addition too!
There’s definitely superhero fatigue, just bc a Spider-Man movie does good doesn’t mean there isn’t superhero fatigue, those characters already have huge fan bases
There’s a reason why the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films are still, to this day, the best superhero films ever made and that’s because they’re not even superhero films. They’re life lessons disguised as superhero films and that’s why they’re so impactful even after all this time. Marvel movies lack passion, they don’t bother connecting with audiences anymore, they’re just made to carry the plot forward and lead into the next huge crossover. I think what’s missing in all the marvel movies is showing how these superheroes uplift and inspire the people around them. My favorite scenes in the Raimi films are the ones where the citizens of New York stand up to the villains to back Parker up (bridge scene in 1 and train scene in 2) and we just don’t see that kind of storytelling in Marvel today.
"It's not super hero fatigue, it's bad movie fatigue" Hollywood follows "fads" because they make mediocre films lucrative Superhero fatigue happened, because the "geek fad" is over, (Example: There was this moment where people paid a subscription to receive random merchandising), You can't just produce bland shit and expected to make millions anymore just because it's SpeedBall™ from Marvel™
Would love to see "The Spider-Verse-ification of animation" talking about the style influencing Puss In Boots The Last Wish, Elemental, TMNT Mutant Mayhem, etc
When it turned out that AMATW, a movie I really didn’t like, only contributed ‘Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly share a single glance in the finale’ I realised watching movies for homework was a terrible attitude and it’s saved me from watching movies that I’m just not that jazzed to see.
I think your right with people not feeling superhero fatigue, but people being tired of bad movies. I think Marvel Studios thought it was impenetrable and could just churn out mediocre stuff and everything would be fine. Turns out that didn’t happen. I just hope marvel starts making good superhero movies again!
Troy, you talked in the past about covering the Scream franchise… please do that! 🤞🏻Especially with the 6th film recently being a hit, would be great to see your takes on the films!
I think the next boom will be animation because the technology is improving continuously and different styles are beginning to surface, eg. Puss in boots had a very unique animation style that made it look almost hand painted, not to mention the Spider-man into the spider verse unique comic book looking approach. The trailer to its sequel shows how the spider verse will incorporate many different artistic animation styles going forward, and as tech improves animation will have close to unlimited potential and I for one can't wait!!
I think guardians of the galaxy vol 3 and spiderman across the spiderverse will hopefully change the perception of superhero fatigue as these look to be having that extra special something that stands out among the crowd that has kinda been missing from prior superhero films having that emotional resnonace at there core with the characters we go along on this journey with is integral to the experience like what top gun maverick and avatar the way of water successfully was able to achieve
Well, without getting into "that" area of conversation, I think one valid point you can raise is this: Has there or has there not been an uptick in marvel movies or shows that have been trying to portray a certain political or ideological message? Now, you can agree with this message or think that such a message is necessary. On the other hand, if you disagree with the message then you might want to blame what you think the message is trying to portray. For instance, if you agree or think that the MCU has been traditionally male-dominated and that the women haven't bene portrayed as well as they could, then something like She-Hulk might be a bit of response to that whole discussion. Or, if you think that the MCU has been good or alright with female representation, then you might think that She-Hulk was trying to push a particular message. To steelman the argument a bit, if you agree that there has been an uptick in some sort of messaging, then it's understandable why a certain group of people might be reacting to certain things (whether it's justified or not).
@@jaredpoon5869 i mean absolutely the people who think that having more female led shows is a bad thing would be mad but those people are morons so we don't need to listen to what they think
americans hahahaha they are so funny . of course their political message is super heavy handed even tho im liberal the m she u crowd is right . im sorry but is super obvious and besidds that their superhero movies are so bad , its been years since the last good one . super hero fatigue is a thing , international numbers are way down ... just let all heroes die .
I don't have a fatigue for superheroes, BUT I do have a fatigue for Disney+ Marvel shows that always feel like they fall short in being tv shows due to the mini series format. I loved Moon Knight ...... The last episode shows the biggest problem of Disney+ mini series's. And the fact they had to cut down on a whole fight scene that was recorded. Stunts with the actual actors being removed. I'm kinda just tired of the high budget cinema aesthetic holding back superhero shows from being shows. (and it applies to star wars live action shows as well)
Western superheroes may be oversaturated, but there’s a lot of international hero stories yet to be popularized. Kamen Rider is probably the best example of a long, superhero franchise that has managed to stay fresh for about as long as Spider-Man and the Avengers have. I would suggest checking out any Kamen Rider show.
You should talk more horror. I loved your Prey review last year and I saw your Letterboxd review for Evil Dead Rise. I'd love to see you go more in depth on that underrated genre!
I would love to see a video on you talking about Netflix and it's weird relationship with animation. Scott Pilgrim the anime was announced and Big Mouth was recently cancelled, would this be a sign for good things to come?
I love how troyo has gotten so good at writing heroic speeches in the Spidey and superman prewrites that they're just dropping them at the end of regular videos now. Everything they write goes so hard goddamn
My favorite non superhero property fluctuates a lot. But as of now its between Transformers and kaiju films. However the former hasn't been given the best representation or respect it deserves and I'm hoping the new film fixes that.
2023 looks to be a good year for movies, Super Hero movies too in fact. Apart from Ant-Man and Shazam of course. GOTG3, Rise of the Beasts (I don't think it counts as a super hero movie but whatever, I'm counting it) Blue Beetle and Spider Verse 2 all look to be very promising and hopefully we can ditch Marvel's ridiculous strain on director freedom and get some real director driven Super Hero movies, because when they're done, they really really work.
I didnt like any of the MCU’s versions of characters so i never got into it. I liked the Avengers but i checked out because there was no Hank Pym. They even created and beat Ultron in like a week. And still no Hank Pym… and the start to Spider-Man just broke me.
man... i never thought of this "super hero movies arent a genre" and you couldnt be more right. I think even the directores that get chosen to make these movies dont get this thats why these recent movies end up feeling kind of the same. anyway, great video, spittin facts!
I'd like to see you talk about animated stuff more, like Vinland Saga, Arcane, or whatever animated stuff interests you. Besides animation, videos on stuff like Barry, house of the dragon, or Creed would be cool if that's something you want to talk about
I'm sorry but Super Hero fatigue is here and it's all due to the over exposure of this damn genre! Not just from Marvel but DC and other indie companies and they're clogging up the theaters and making it harder for non super hero movies to be able to get attention or notice. Scale back the movies to 1 movie and 1 TV show a year for each company and the hate for them won't be as aggressive.
The idea that superhero media will see a decline isn't an interesting prediction. What then, it becomes the *second* biggest genre of media on film and television?
Given how popular the Sonicthe Hedgehog & The Super Mario Bros. Movies were, I feel like the next Popular Movie & TV Genre will be Video Game Adaptations! Here’s hoping the Live-Action Minecraft Movie isn't a Trainwreck!
Nailed it. It's not that we're tired of superheroes, we're tired of bad and lazy writing, hurried productions, synthetic bland visuals and more focus on the next thing rather than the character's we are there to see going through an engaging story.
I’ve only been seriously getting into films lately. When I was just a casual watcher all these superheroes seemed fine to me, but the more actual great movies I watch the more I realized just how poorly made some of them are. I’ve come to the point where I don’t watch every new comic book movie because I already know if I’ll like it or not, based on directors/actors and especially writers.
I can 100% support your opinion on this. There were some bad choices made by the heads of Marvel etc that led to some “mid” movies, but I think if those good movies start to roll out again, people will love it. And I would love to see some videos about video game design. Especially your recent Daredevil essay was amazing imo :)
The only fatigue I have is that there apparently wasn’t really any brand new superhero content this year so far since the Marvel streaming shows (minus the upcoming releases that I am already invested in)
In terms of non-superhero properties to talk about, I’d love to see a video on the Horizon games. With the new Burning Shores DLC out for Forbidden West there’s no better time to get into the franchise and it’s beautiful story.
I do believe that having Marvel go back to the 2 films a year will help a lot. Quality over quantity usually wins. Have a film come out in Spring or Summer, and then the second film in the summer or the winter. Have the Disney+ shows be one in between release of the films. As well as most of the MCU feels formulaic, aside from themes and cinematography every now and then; the movies feel the same. I am still excited for the future of the MCU and the DC films going forward, I just hope that the movies change in style, themes, cinematography, etc.
The key is not making a “safe” film. Weather it’s on the director level or the studio level. They need to practice making films that aren’t painfully average, and as an audience we need to practice weeding out what deserves to be watched and what’s a cash grab
I kinda miss the time where the MCU was just something small and like I just watch them during school holidays and weekends for the thrill of it as a kid.
Asher Angel really was fantastic as billy batson. Zachary Levis take really did feel like a different character. Or at least like whenever he transformed into shazam he lost all character development from the first movie
The problem isn’t about the superheroes themselves, it’s about the filmmaking. When you get these factory processed movies that have no energy or flavor in the style, people are bound to get sick of them. People like these movies when they have a strong vision; look at the best comic book movies, like Spider Verse, Logan, etc; they all have a style and vision to them that people respond to.
Since you mentioned it at the end, I would really love it if you ever made any videos Avatar The Last Airbender and Avatar The Legend of Korra which are both incredible. I think Legend of Korra has gotten a lot of unfair criticism (and some that is fair) but I still think that it's phenomenal.
I'm actually way more excited for the DCU than anything Marvel has lined up. The reason I'm so excited is because I feel like they'll do a lot more with genre bending. I'm hoping we get some cool stories under the elseworld umbrella. I'm hoping Swamp Thing is a horror. Like just do cool stuff with the characters and it'll be fine. Some of the movies that have come out are just too copy and paste.
I wouldn’t even say it’s a genre problem either. People seemed to love the recent John Wick movie and yet “action movie fatigue” has never been a thing
IDK why but this reminds me of the comic book crash, when it feels like the opposite. The comic book crash came because big comics sold more so comic companies made every comic BIG causing burnout. Now it just feels like people are expecting endgame levels from superhero movies
People don’t have super hero fatigue. They have bad movie fatigue. That’s why GOTG Vol 3 was so refreshing. It finally remembered the focus on character that made the genre a hit in the first place. Universe building ain’t everything with these movies and I feel like more people need to recognize that. And lo and behold, its opening weekend made above expectations. Almost like that happens on its own when you make a good movie.
To me, it's a bit more that people have now seen how wide the quality range can be that they're just skipping the obvious crap, because with the oversaturation of the market you can pick and choose and don't have to take everything you can get.
Compared to other times, I think more people have been feeling this fatigue because of the of the quantity of Marvel properties in Phase 4. Phase 1 had six films with a watch time of 12.4 hours. Phase 2 had six films with a watch time of 12.7 hours. Phase 3 had eleven films with a watch time of 24.9 hours. As of July 2022, Phase 5 had six films and seven shows with a watch time of 49.5 hours. That’s double the watch time of the last phase in less time. The previous phases took place over 3-4 years while the fourth happen in like 2. It’s a loss less time to disgust and catch up for each property, plus the flaws are more likely to shine than the positives with how close everything is.
Antman was "loving father and loving daughter". Plus the fast story telling riff gag. Really made me happy. I've seen 1 and 2 multiple times in theaters. The last ant man movie has none of that. Haven't seen it once. Wouldn't event see it for free
Difference between superhero movies and Westerns is that Westerns were pretty cheap to make, letting studios push out a HUGE amount of Western movies and TV shows. Superhero movies may have dominated box offices and pop cultural discussions for a while, but the cost of all those visual effects means there's never been THAT many of them coming out each year.

@@Nevad25 which also allowed for Matt Reeves to actually explore the themes a little
I sure hope I'm not in the minority to disagree with the ENTIRE sentiment of what you said.
the movies are bad in part because they are stretched too thin making things that don't lead into the rest and in doing so are making just too many things. the shows were the first major flaw of the franchise
The way I've heard it described is that the success of the MCU has lead to each subsequent film becoming more and more nothing but an advertisement for the subsequent installment, which is in turn and advertisement for the installment after that. It's a literal hype train, with each movie being another train car.
Honestly you hit the nail on the head with it
It's not a fatigue of Superheroes themselves it's a fatigue of them constantly getting shoved into mediocre movies
Also I'd love for you to cover more video game stuff
Yeah I'd love if he'd maybe cover the Sonic movies and maybe even throw a pitch for the upcoming third movie. I think that'd be cool.
Except people are also tired of superhero movies. There are too many and no original idea films. And its littering cinemas endlessly.
See I think Guardians 3 definitely disproved the “people are tired of superhero movies”. That movie is killing it financially and critically. I think they are just sick of sloppily put together like Quantumania.
And then flash fell on its face
Bro guardians of the galaxy vol. 3 is a sci-fi/adventure film set in space. No body has super powers, most of them are aliens. I have superhero fatigue. People flying around in capes gets boriing after a while...bring back gritty crime thrillers or any other genre apart from horror that is no longer in the mainstream becomes of an oversaturation of boring ass superheroes...
Jay Bauman said it best; “The fatigue only sets in when the movies are lame”
I'm not tired of superheroes so much as I'm tired of the connected universe stuff. You can have characters like Spider-Man exist in a world where Iron Man and Hulk also exist without making them team up every movie or set up three other movies/shows.
Yeah that’s a good point. I think what made early MCU great is that they did the team up stuff sparingly, which made it standout more
I think there's a certain critical mass to even a successful interconnected universe.

Invincible is amazing.
The boys show is great but the comics suck
The Boys, crucially, isn't a superhero story. It has a whole bunch of ideas about Fascism, Celebrity culture, Capitalism, etc. But it's not a Superhero story.
Invincible is a Superhero story but told in a subversive, dark way while still being sincere.
I wouldn't count The Boys as Superhero media. The fact that they're superheroes is tangential to the main themes. Invincible is a bonafide superhero story.
@@salvadorHombre its funny because the boys comic is 100% a superhero story
Like they are fighting villains in the corrupted superheroes, they make a team to fight against them and even get superpowers to do it
The guy who made the boys clearly didnt like the superhero genre but i will always find funny how in his attempt to dismantle the genre he made a generic superhero story
I’m not tired of superhero movies. I’m just tired of the ones we’ve been getting.
the camera zooms on your superhero stuff were inspired
James gunn said he's giving directors of his DC universe more creative freedom so I say in terms of variety, superhero movies may have a brighter future
People aren’t tired of Superhero movies, they’re tired of movies that are essentially treated like sitcom episodes. It’s actually so refreshing seeing a movie that IS the project. Like it’s so rare for a single film to be something that everyone involved seems to truly care about and not just part of the job
People are tired of superhero kids crap. They want good movies back.
It's impressive how the composer made the best Marvel movie of Phase 4.
Pin this comment no one talks about Werewolf and it’s the best product the MCU has made imo.
Barry from HBO needs more coverage honestly. It deserves more appreciation than it gets . A Must see show!

Video game adaptions are definitely the next big trend. Mario is hitting a billion soon, people were praising The Last of Us, Sonic 3 is coming next year and Ghost of Tsushima is getting hyped up by its director
Don't forget Arcane.
@@gamehero6816 Arcane is a terrible example as it's a canonical prequel to League of Legends.
@@KnightEclipser It’s still an adaptation of the video game exploring League’s often overlooked lore. Not a good film, but would you not say the Uncharted film isn’t a video game adaptation because it’s a prequel. The Mario movie is also a prequel, where Mario is learning about the Mushroom kingdom.
Yes I 100% agree! Maybe the Nintendo Cinematic Universe will be the next big thing
sonic and Mario are memes, not good movies. but they make money so yeah probably
There is no superhero fatigue, only fatigue for the Marvel style of superhero filmmaking
That seems to be right....
But Marvel made a very different movie, with less humor. It was a good movie, but Fandom lost their S%$* about it.
So after The Eternals, Marvel went back to their standard movies.

@@themanofshadows The entire point of this comment is the fact that those movies are almost guaranteed to be good
In my experience and in my case, it's not superhero fatigue, badmovie fatigue or even MCU fatigue, it's just movie fatigue.

I can definitely agree 2022 was a fantastic year for movies
Definitely for both live action and animated films. 2022 was the year dreamworks beat out disney. Imagine that.
Actually, after the success of Blade, X-men, and Spider-Man, we saw a huge surge in comic book adaptations.
Oh man I had superhero fatigue all the way back in 2004. I didn’t know what I was in for.
I literally can't watch MCU anymore, but at least I'm still hyped for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and The Batman: Part II
Will you be watching GOTG vol 3?

"It's not super hero fatigue, it's bad movie fatigue"
Hollywood follows "fads" because they make mediocre films lucrative
Superhero fatigue happened, because the "geek fad" is over, (Example: There was this moment where people paid a subscription to receive random merchandising), You can't just produce bland shit and expected to make millions anymore just because it's SpeedBall™ from Marvel™
I just hope marvel starts making good superhero movies again!
troyoboyo17 should cover the Pokémon Movies & why they are underrated! :D

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 didnt failed me. I'm so excited for another superhero film like TMNT Mutant Mayhem & Spider-Verse 2
i also think that part of the problem is that so much of the "fatigue" crowd are blaming gay people, women and people of colour
Aka the “M-She-U” crowd
@@jaredpoon5869 i mean absolutely the people who think that having more female led shows is a bad thing would be mad

The birth of the modern superhero movie genre was in the years 1998 with Blade, 2000 with X-men and 2002 with Spider-Man.

Still waiting for this dude to do a Scream franchise video

The real problem is bad-writing fatigue. Also, less relevant and derivative characters are not at the same level of the characters they are replacing.
Your should go over the Planet of the Apes trilogy
I am still excited for Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, Spider-Man across the Spider-verse and The Marvels.
Unforgiven and Tombstone were made in the 90s, by that time many people considered westerns dead, and yet both were like the best films of their year.
There was no reason to undersell Blade that way so we could give its kickstarting of the modern genre to X-Men.
Love that you shouted out Dungeons and Dragons, it’s such a fun film! I’ve never played it but I really liked it!!
Almost like that happens on its own when you make a good movie.
i’m a huge Resident Evil fan, you talked about horror a couple times… maybe you can talk about the RE movies, games, and remasters?
