    Mike, I cannot thank you enough for taking time out of your day to discuss my tankless water heater problems and what needs to be done to fix them.
    I fully recommend Mike if you're located in his service area in Florida. He is extremely knowledgeable about plumbing in general and was excellent at helping me with my tankless needs even though I live in Washington State. For a person to take their precious time to consult with someone who is not even a client is rare.

    God bless you Mike! I am a single mom, and I have to say my general contractor had an incompetent plumber. I learned from you more than they ever knew. My tankless lasted only 9 years, because of poor job that they did with the vent and valves, they botched one of the HVAC systems as well. I was able to fix everything thanks to you.

But with your help it went a little smoother than I expected. Again thank you.

    We have a Rinnai RL75 in our new home. So grateful to have come across your videos on this system. They're very informative on the inner workings of the system. Having an understanding of how it works makes living with it a lot easier since it's our first tankless water heater, and we didn't know anything about them other than the basics. We really appreciate your videos and look forward to all of them you produce. Thank you👍🏽

    Question: can the vent pipe be exposed a few inches above the roof line or just only that black part. With the angle of my roof, I would like for it to stick out an few inches to put sealant around it and get it nice a waterproof. Your the only guy I found that shows the vertical vent pipe method through a roof , I just wish that I could see one already installed.

    Our home has a Rinnai R75LS that was set up with vertical venting. We’ve been having a lot of error code 12 lately and I’m trying to troubleshoot. One of the metal pipes within the white pipe appears to be a little corroded. It also did not have a condensation trap set up (we do live in desert climate). Would it be best to replace that pipe for the vertical venting or just close that up and convert it to horizontal venting? Any info is greatly appreciated.

    I bought the Rinnai 184127 Vertical Termination Kit for my Rinnai Non-Condensing Tankless Water Heater, model # V94IN. I installed it in my existing water heater closet, which is already built into the side of my house. i installed it an carefully measured so that I could use my existing hole in the roof and go straight out the top of the unit. Everything has lined up perfectly. However, when I bought the unit, I could not immediately get the termination kit, I had to order it. So, I put a UBBINK extension pipe on the the top of my water heater while waiting. Now I have it. But since I already have the extension pipe going through the roof, can I remove the black portion of the termination kit and just slide that onto my extension pipe? I have not cut either of my exhuast pipes yet. Thanks in advance for your advice. -JK

    Hey Mike, I'm a big fan of your videos, thank you for them. I had a question I'm hoping you can answer. I installed the non condensing v65IP, with vertical venting, just as you described, and with the condensate trap. Everything is installed as per the instructions, but I've never seen any condensate drip out of the trap. Today, a year later, I was flushing it with vinegar, I inspected the condensate trap, and noticed what looks like oxidation or condensate crystals or something forming out of the nipple. Is this normal? Thank you so much!

    • @TheBuddylab
      @TheBuddylab 4 года назад

      JStouder133 yes it is most of the time the condensate will stay and evaporate in the trap leaving those crystals just clean them out as best as you can. Mike

    Great video. For the two tube solution with an existing vent, can you use the existing pipe as a chase for the schedule 40 red letter pipe? RUR199IN. The current water heaters this unit is replacing are 24" apart and vented directly upwards 8-10 ft through the roof.

    • @TheBuddylab

    Hi Mike
    I have a vertically vented RL75i. Works well and has since 2008. Over the years a white deposit has developed on the roof shingles around the vent running down to the eves and slightly onto the bricks below. Rinnai says they have never heard of this before and it must be something in the natural gas supply. Could deterioration of the interior of the exhaust stack have anything to do with this white area?

I was wondering what could be the issue. It's not the cold water sandwich which is the only thing I can find. Thanks for the video. However, on a pitched roof, the metal (cardboard in your example) piece will be at an angle and not flush with upper black section of piping that will be outside. Do you leave the exposed white section of pipe outside on the roof exposed to the elements? Does it make more sense to move the entire assembly down to the next (bigger) collar and leave less exposed outside so that only the uv protected part is protruding or???? Thanks for your videos, lots of information.

      If it’s a non condensing unit and the vent is going through the roof or if the horizontal length is longer then the standard through the wall vent you need to add a trap. If it’s a condensing unit there is one built into it.
