      Hello LT, so there is an orange wire and a red wire on the stereo. The red wire should have constant power for memory. The orange should have power only when you crank the car on and off. Use a voltage light to see where you get on and off power when cranking the car on. Connect a non constant power source to that. Hope this helps and thanks for the follow.

    Almost clean install, few questions why didn’t you use male/female connections??? Why didn’t you install a new ground for the car stereo??? Factory ground is ok except you’ll have less white noise. Then why didn’t you heat shrink for covering the wires??? Electrical tape is ok except it has a tendency to be a cheap look to it. I haven’t used electrical tape in 30yrs. Last but not least why didn’t you use zip ties. Zip ties/heat shrink or connectors will be no more then $5.00. If you’re going to do something….”look at how the experienced audio installer” goes about this. Reason for the connectors or the heat shrink is to make sure that what ever you connect stays connected. As for the radio you just installed…..”leave it with the truck bc the next vehicle might not have a double din.

    • @paultrevi
      @paultrevi  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for the time you took to text. Truck is sold and gone. I didn't do shrink wrap because when I sold it I replaced this stereo with the original. Plus I didn't get any white noise. So no need for a separate ground. I did to the amplifier tho. Not doing the shrink wrap allows me to easily disconnect the wires. Again, I'm not a pro just trying to help some people out.

    Question, does the crossover on a head unit work for the rca connections also ?

    • @paultrevi
      @paultrevi  Год назад +1

      Not necessarily, I have a mono Amp connected to mine for bass. Now, the other 4 speakers are connected stright to the head unit so the crossover works on those. I usually use separate amps to do what I need for each pair of speakers. So I would use a separate Amp for 6x9s for example and control that way. Usually the head unit crossover won't do what you want for say mid, highs and lows individually like an Amp with controls will.

    A amp is a good idea. This radio is weak. It might be 50w. It sure isn't 100w. I need a 100w 4 ch amp for my 80w speakers for this radio. My old single din 45wx4 from the 90s is louder than this stereo. And the screen is so cheap it is plastic. I can buy a new OLED screen for a phone for $20, so this is a $10 OLED screen with resolution so low the icons look distorted like 8 bit graphics up close. I'm trying to hook up AUX video to mine and mirror. The screen is pretty useless on this unit. It's only good for the back up camera which I don't have installed on my 1995 Honda. The instructions also say a DVD may get stuck in it, and front USB only supports FAT16 and FAT32 files. So you can only plug a USB stick into the front USB for music. The rear AUX is for video input. This unit has autolink that works every time it powers on, but your phone has to be set to Bluetooth ON before getting into the car for it to auto connect. My review of this stereo is the labor installing it cost more than the stereo, so buy a more expencive unit if you're not installing it yourself. I mean if you need to pay $100 for a amp to power it you might as well add that amount to a better unit and go with a $300 stereo. The reason this stereo is cheap is because it comes with nothing. Add up the microphone, AUX, RCA wires, a video bypass, backup camera, a 100w amp, double din stereo kit, steel basket, and you're in the $300 range. A cheep Jensen GPS/DVD comes with a steel basket, plastic frame, microphone and camera for $300. So this Pioneer is real cheaply made. This is basically a $50-$75 radio Wal-Mart sells for $127. Guess what Wal-Mart pays for it? It's a cheap radio. It's so cheap. Go to Target and buy a Jensen.

      @@chrisperez1813 check the yellow with a voltage meter to be sure it's getting constant power. Or get constant power from a other source.

    WOW duct tape and electrical tape to make connections. I guess you want to have a short or a fire. NEVER EVER EVER use tape for a connection. Buy some spade or bullet connectors or at least some butt connectors. If you are going to make videos do your subscribers a favor and learn how to install properly. AS for your RCA's buy some that are the correct size. Your installation makes Pro installers like myself cringe. If you need advice I would be more than happy to help.

      Well dear Sir if you listen to my videos all the way thru I do say don't do this because I am no professional installer. Lol. Plus honestly before all this fancy stuff, back in the 80s we were using electrical tape. By the way its (electrical) a d I myself, personally, have never had a fire. This video you saw was made a while back a d guess what no fire with the (electrical tape) I guess cause it's electrical! Wow. But thanks for your input, and caring for (my) subscribers. I never said I was a pro or a shop. Just a regular guy. Thanks for the algorithm though. Good day
