I have deadass watched over 20 videos to find the answers to my questions and you somehow managed to answer them in a 6 minute video. Thank you very much sir
That's awesome. Glad the video was helpful for you!
Deff from ny
What he said
Seriously though!!! I would very much like a more in depth video on how he tapped into the factory sub and hooked it into is amp. Because that’s what I want to do since I have a factory radio
I still can't find out how to get power wire through the fire wall on my 2001 malibu
1:16 *insert cyberpunk audio*
u can also change over your factory speaker wires into RCA jacks
its easy as pie
Try to switch your amp setting x over freq to low pass (Lp)
It's been a while but I think I made this video before tuning and optimizing the sound. Usually I set to LP and then set cutoff so that sub only gets low frequencies.
Best tutorial. Do you know if this will work to power your amp to push 6x9s
Yes concept is the same. Tap rear speaker wires and do all the same but with outputs to new speakers instead of sub.
Great video bro! Answered a lot of questions! But I do have 1, do you find a difference in sound quality to the sub between using the "speaker input" option for signal compared to using an rca converter? Not sure if you have ever used one before
In my case going to the oem sub, the line could be filtered or clamped already. But the same could be the case for rear speakers in some vehicles as well. Surely you will get absolute best sound by replacing your head unit. But as far as using a line out converter, it wouldn't really change anything from utilizing high level inputs.
Did you put the gray together and white together then connect to your positive and negative in the rear speaker ?
The grays are for one side in the rear and the white is the other so you have positive and negative on both the left and right inputs. The copper with clear jacket is wired to my submitter in the box.
I have a question and i hope you might be able yo answer it.
Can you wire the remote wire to the ignition wire im not sure where the remote wire is on the factory wire
Technically you could wire this to the ignition and I find this is easiest to do on the ignition fuse by adding a circuit
Good high quality is subjective in this case. Please tidy it us, it's making my ocd act up.
Haha. I feel you.
No one cares about your ocd
For some reason my remote wire keeps melting when plugged into the fuse
That means you are likely shorting it to ground somewhere.
I've had several shops swear that this was impossible and I needed to buy an aftermarket head unit in order to get aftermarket subs. I knew it was bullshit
The add a circuit fuse thing is brilliant and I never knew they existed. Thank you very much for posting this.

Finally a video where someones uncle is not rambling for 60 minutes about a singular fucking wire. Thank you
This video was more informative then basically every other one I watched. Thanks for the video!
Glad you found it helpful
One of the best simple straight to the point without missing a step videos on adding sub's to the sonata speaker inputs best idea
Thanks! Glad you liked it.

I knew there was a way to do this 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the time you took to share 🍻
Glad it helped you!
You're should never mount your amps on to boxes..when you start useds your amps the woofer boxes start to vibration causing the soldering on your amps to break the solder..I'm been installed stereo equipment for 30 plus years..good luck...anyways if mount the amps onto amps racks it's easier to take out the woofer anytime you need the trunk area....🤔😢😱
I agree that mounting to the back of the seat is a better setup.
What about subwoofers with built in amps? Are they just as susceptible to vibration?
I'm just getting into car audio and was really not looking forward to pulling out my stock radio just to tap into a wire for the remote wire. That fuse tap is a life saver! Thanks for sharing
it worked for you?
You wouldn't need a fuse tap. All you'd do is add the remote wire into the left side of a fuse in the fuse box
I must have watched 50 videos on this. All of them never go in detail.
Thank you for this video, short and simple.🎉
I’ve been trying to figure out how to run my remote power without having to tap into my radio or my cigarette lighter and after watching 20+ videos I finally found the solution thank you good sir
this was the most simple, not autistic video / explanation on yt, watched 20 videos atleast to gain knowledge , so thank you sir, kindly 💖
Thanks! Glad that you found my simplistic style helpful.
you prolly dont care but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly forgot the login password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Kylan Marley Instablaster :)
@Shane Grayson i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Shane Grayson It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out!
Kicker support recommended your video to me even though I already watched figured you know that’s pretty awesome
That's way awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Using the pre-existing sub as a bypass …. Duly noted : information obtained 😂 thanks man
If my car doesn't have a factory subwoofer what speakers should i tap off for the inputs?
Rears
Generally you want to use the rear speakers, mostly for ease of install. Unless you want to pull the head unit and are comfortable with it, then do so and tap into the front channel speakers. Just know that the rca cables still have to go to the amplifier in the rear usually.
That looks like my Santa Fe Sport but in black..I completely forgot about the speaker level line inputs..I have the same set-up but I've got way more power and 15inch subs to play with..Expect an update people..😎
Nice
Great freaking video. Short and complete. Took the whole blah blah blah that other ppl do and went right to the meat and potatoes. Bravo and thank you
Your factory sub is dual voice coil right ? My 2020 grand Cherokee with amplified sub is as well that’s where I’ll tap both my pos and negs from too
Yes it is DVC
My amp has a harness with 5 different color wires coming off it from the high input. Do I just use 2 of them? If so what colors? Great video by the way.
I used just 2 of mine, works fine, bass normally comes through both channels so you won't lose any signal by just having one channel connected.
I dont know what the middle one labeled ground is used for though, but it works fine without it what ever it is
I was about to drill a hole into the dash to install a on/off switch but with that add circuit!!! Man I don’t have to deal with that! Thanks for the good pointers man!
Weird way to set it up without a converter but shit it works
Can i do this for my hyundai accebt 2020? Stock head unit
Yes
Great video man!!!! Definitely gonna help me thru my process!
Thanks brother, I have an old Dakota that has a cassette tape player in it that I still use.
Can you wire the new amp to a rear speaker instead of a rear sub? Also, how do you tell between the positive and negative wires? Mine also has a black wire that I assume is a ground wire.. 5 wires total.
Yes you can go from rear speaker instead of rear sub. If you have a black wire, yes, you can ground it.
@@JCTFIXIT where would you ground such a small wire?.. couldn’t you group it with your negative wires?
I would tie it into main ground on your amp either at the amp or where you have it tied to vehicle chassis.
This is not the best information, just because it’s black, don’t assume it’s ground, you are best to use a multimeter or an LED test light to check positive and negative, or find a diagram, I wouldn’t just wing it 🤷♂️
@@phillipfoster7849 solid blacks are always grounds my man
thanks so much. will be coming back to this video lots the next few weeks while i wire in my pair of 800watt subs
Just watched so many videos already and finally found the one that actually makes the most sense 👌
Sweet! Glad it was helpful!
I have a challenger that had the opening for a sub and the wire so I added a 8 inch sub it fit perfectly and put a amp on the back of the seat it worked out perfectly and I used your video to figure out the high output level. Looked thur like 6 videos and yours was exactly what I needed!!
Glad it helped you. Thanks for the comments.
Dude! You have an infinite baffle 8inch dual coil on the deck! You can swap out the 8 and get it amplified. Might now be as loud as ported but will save all your trunk space with better sq . Great vid
That circuit adder is the cleanest thing ive seen about adding an amp and sub
Sure is handy. A lot of amps are coming out that will auto turn on and off based on signal detection as well thus eliminating the need for the remote wire.
pause the recording and blow your nose for gods sake man
Haha. Sorry about that. Sniffles got me.
So you didn't even have to pull out the stereo?
Nah
@@JCTFIXIT awesome
I’m considering going with a powered sub to add a little bass to my factory stereo, wondering if should go with the Rockford fosgate 300 watt that goes frequency response: 35-200 Hz or if I should spend the extra $140 and get the 500 watt that has a frequency response: 20-200 Hz, that seems to be the only difference is a little bit deeper bass. Curious what watt your amp is and what you think I should go with
If it were me I would go with the p-300.
I never comment good job but dude you deserve the good job comment lol! Saved me a lot of work!!
Awesome! Glad it was helpful!
I'm 90% still lost on what I'm doing with most of the half done setup that came with my car but it helped with 10% 😂
I have a kicker DX 400.4 (400watts) and a alpine MRP F300 (800watts)
And 240 watts of speakers and subwoofers and battery and wires and yet I don't know how tf to wire anything 😅😂😂😂😂
Straight and to the point . Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Three years after you made this video and still helping people!...
You answered my questions in less than 7 minutes 😅
Thank you sir!
Thank you!
Man, thanks a ton I really appreciate the knowledge. You have been liked and subscribed to!💯🙏🏿
My first time wiring a subwoofer in. Other that wire sizes and wiring info what is some other advice someone could give me like the ignition fuze hack dude just showed us
Quesrion..
I don't have a factory sub, so I've to tap to either rear speaker.. ?? Doest it make a difference to which one? Or do I need one of those 'Y' adapters for the speaker wires?
Thanks in advance.
Yes tap your rear speakers. And you will want to do both of them so you have L and R channels.
@JCTFIXIT in basic terms.. I've 4 wires and I'm going to connect them to the two that go to the sub?
My apologies, I'm fairly new to this.
Your 4 wires need to go to your amp input. Then you will wire 2 wires to your sub on the amp output.
@JCTFIXIT it's an all In one sub-amp, and I was thinking to use the wires directly.
If it's a powered sub then yes 4 wires to that amp. If it does not have high level inputs you may need a line out converter.
I just learned a lot, I've done connections with aftermarket stereos but not modern/present day stereos because I didn't know how to connect a sound system to them and you just taught me everything I need to know in this vid. 🙌🏽🙌🏽👍🏽😁
great video bro, i was so curious if i needed to spend the extra money on a raspberry in my 2010 pilot but it has a stock 10” so as long as i can with my amp i’m just gonna splice into it like you!
Yes, I like the way my stock 8 compliments my 12 as well. I tried it with just the 12 and it sounds good, but having both sounds phenomenal. Please like and subscribe! Thanks
One of the better videos showing this, curious, where did the centre ground cable come from from the high level inputs?
Did not terminate the center ground.
@@JCTFIXIT so not connected to anything?
Correct. It wouldn't hurt to ground is on the main ground that you ground your amp to. I didn't.
Thanks bro I’ve killed so many battery’s and alts with my amp
Great video that gives me some ideas for my Sonata with Infinity sound. I feel like a real rookie here. Two questions ... 1) On the factory sub, it looks like a pos/neg on each side of the speaker. Why are there two? 2) By pulling signal directly from the speaker input (after the factory amp) is there a risk of damaging the inputs of the aftermarket amplifier due to the signal being amplified?
Jim, Great questions! First, the sub has dual voice coils. So on my sub inside the box there are actually 4 terminals (2 positive and 2 negative) just like the factory sub. Had I got a single voice coil sub, there would only be one pair. I put the connections in parallel by splitting 2 to 4 inside the box on the aftermarket sub. To answer your second question, yes I suppose of you had too much pre-amp, it could damage your amp, but not likely. Many high performance aftermarket stereos provide higher levels of pre-amp to the input on aftermarket amps. The only possible downfall of tapping into the signal after it has already been amplified is that it could be filtered for the 8 inch sub and thus not hit certain low frequencies that the 12 inch sub could handle. In my case it seems to have a great range abilities. I will note that my amp does not require very much gain due the the pre-amplified signal.
@@JCTFIXIT I just bit the bullet and purchased the Cerwin-Vega 12" powered sub that fits in the spare tire well. Three things.
1) I lucked out. This sub has an auto-sense feature. When connecting through high-level, the amp will stay powered off until it receives power through its high-level input. This means I will not have to run the remote wire the length of the car and tap into fuse panel.
2) Another luck. I have the hybrid, so my battery is in the trunk. No need to run that wire either (whew!)
3) And finally...I have the same wiring going to my sub as your car. Is the green or black the power?
Thank you again for posting this video. It gave me a set of cojones to make this happen. lol
Green should be positive and black negative. Sounds like you have a cool set up! I would love to see it! Email me pictures @ reentreent23@gmail.com
@@JCTFIXIT I got my wife the Rockville Ghost spare tire sub. She does not know that I got me the CV (bigger and better). lol
I will email you with pics when I have it installed. Thanks again.
Jim Bock where’s your spare tire?
If your car has a factory amp wouldn’t that be playing low end from your cars amp into the amp your adding? Someone told me I shouldn’t do this but I don’t see really why not when I’ve seen others do stuff like this. My car has a factory amp that uses the rear 6x9’s for bass. Would it be ok if I do this on my car like you did yours? I’m guessing your car has a factory amp which means you tapped into the low end speaker in your car to give your amp an input from your factory stereo.
People recommend not doing this because your amp can prefilter the frequencies for your stock sub that may or may not allow your new aftermarket sub to reproduce to its full capability.
I know this is an old video but did I miss what’s needed to connect the spliced in wires to the speaker rca alternative? Or is it just that plug that inputs to amp with four loose wires that you connect to each speaker wire? Is there a way to use the rca cables still w/o jacks on the head unit?
Great video...appreciate how you explain in depth. Helps me alot!
Hello can anyone tell me if you run rca from head unit to your amp i know that's for bass but how do you connect for the mids and tweeter do i need 4 channel amp right. Anyone please
Yes run your rca and get a 4 channel amp also
So the speaker you connected from the amp playing louder?just one speaker or all of them play louder?
Hey jct great video, liked and subscribed! I’m doing this in my Jeep and I want to replace my stock amp and stock sub and keep my factory head unit. I already have everything but was wondering if I need to remove my stock amp to be able to use my aftermarket amp?
And also I was going to tap into my stereo harness sub wire in the back of my stereo. I noticed you tapped into it right at the sub in the back, which would you recommend if time wasn’t a issue?
If time isn't an issue, tap the sub wire coming from the back of the stereo. Depending on your vehicle configuration, this may bypass the amp. Like in my vehicle the oem sub amp was in the trunk and I obviously do not bypass it. Your stock amp doesn't have to be removed and won't draw much power if it is not energizing any speakers although it wouldn't hurt either if you wanted to remove it. Just make sure that its only powering stock sub. You don't want to accidently remove power from other speakers.
@@JCTFIXIT okay thanks man I’ll take a look at it!
If I dont have a factory sub can I just connect my aftermarket sub to the regular factory speakers in the trunk ?
Yes you would just tap the rear speakers instead of factory sub.
@@JCTFIXIT Thank you ! Great video btw...
I appreciate it.

I am looking for a connecter pinouts from the head unit to the factory amp so I can tap into the speaker level rear speakers to install a aftermarket amp and bypass the factory amp but I cannot find a wire diagram any help would be appreciated
I'm no help there. Good luck
This is the most informative video with the least amount of time possibly needed ever made to get you right.
1 take magic.
If you’re using a loan out converter you should be able to run the blue wire off that straight to your amp and it will shut off when the car is off.
*Line out converter *
Like us all on here where obviously specifically looking for easy step by step no bullshit way of doing just this and like many have said your the only one who's made it so easy to understand and just got to the point and its actually stupid easy true so thanks brother thanks for the video and im sure you've helped so many guys just like My self that couldn't find shit on this subject well nothing straight forward anyway so yea cheers mate take care
I appreciate it.
So if I did this could I use the speakers in the back if they’re not woofers? I don’t have any stock woofer in the back just regular 9 inch speakers could I still use those?
Yes absolutely
Excellent tutorial and expertly explained. You were lucky that a speaker in the boot was accessible as mine are in the rear doors…
Agreed. Good luck with your install!
If you a jeeper use aux beam so you can turn sub on and off for other accessories to run
Davis Michelle Moore Kimberly Anderson Paul
The most important part was which wire ran to which connection from the speaker to the amp.
I know I'm late to the party but your sub amp x-over is set to hi-pass, but it's two years on and you probably figured that out by now.
Yep
Dude fuckin lifesaver.
I never new it could be so simple
Thank you Thank you!
Glad to help you out. Good luck with your install!
is it safe to run remote wire fuse through ignition fuse? Are there any other fuses you could use that may be better?
The add a circuit creates a new separate fused circuit. You could use any fuse you would like but you will kill your battery unless you run out of a fuse that only has power to it when the car is on
So you answered my question qbout the ignition can i run thru the orignal factory stereo wire ?
If you can find it, you probably could but it would be best to still have an isolated circuit with its own fuse.
everything is great but man you taking low frequency sound from your subwoofer and you have your filter on HP set. You not looking for high frequencies, but LP - Low Pass filter instead, it will limit your amp to low frequencies only, which will improve the sound and tuning dramatically. Otherwise good job, easy, simple to understand
Good insights. I did not have this setup tuned yet for the high level observers.
I just came here to say the same thing. Since you're tapping into a sub, it might already be LP filtered so you can probably set the crossover to off. Or, set it to LP and turn the frequency up to about 80 or even as high as it will go (hard to see but looks like 90hz).It will sound MUCH better with bass tracks.
Awesome video idk you could get that plug n play for the speaker input...
Comes in handy when you don't have an aftermarket head unit.
My acura rdx has a stock sub and amp, i was going to run the loc with the 2 back speakers. Do i have to unplug my stock sub/amp or no? Thanks in advance. Im guessing i dont have to, not 100% sure tho
You don't have to but I would probably unhook the sub or you could I have some funky phase issues
I have a factory sub in my trunk as well. I just tap the speaker wires between the amp and the factory sub? I would love to not have to open my dash. On my amps manual it says to connect speaker outputs from receiver to high level input connector of amplifier. I could go into my dash and do that?
You could.....
I just connected the remote wire from the loc to amp and it works fine
Is that working if i plug speaker input to normal factory speakers since i don't have a factory subwoofer?
Yes absolutely.
Hey one question o had for you and haven’t been able to find much info about is, “do you also ground the middle black high input wire on the amp?” And if so, where do you ground it to? Back of the amp or chassis where amp is grounded?
You just ground it. Doesn't matter to the amp or chassis because ultimately the amp will be grounded to the chassis.
I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu and it doesn’t have rca outputs on my head unit. How would I tap in to the speaker wires if I don’t have rear deck speakers?
Run from rear door speakers into panel between front and rear doors then down under carpets to back seats to trunk. If your amp doesn't have a high level input, you will need a line converter. It takes the speaker signal and dumbs it down and switches it to rca to go into your amp.
Will this work for my ‘10 cadillac DTS?
Works for any car. If you do not have a factory sub go ahead and tie into your rear speakers
Super helpful. Thank you.
what if i have a line output converter
That will work and then you just use rcas to the amp.
I think it's worth mentioning that while this is a quick and easy solution, it may not be the best way to do this to protect your factory speakers, and get the best signal. Your factory head unit is designed to lower the bass frequencies down at higher volumes to protect the factory speakers. This means that your amplifier isn't receiving as strong of a signal as you'd like it too and you may become prone to push your amp beyond what it can handle to compensate. Also, tapping into the speaker outputs in parallel like this means that the head unit now has a lower impedance on it than it usually would have due to a less electrically restrictive path made possible by the circuitry in the amplifier's inputs. It probably won't be a problem in most cases but some factory head units may not be able to handle it.
Nerd alert ⚠️. Thanks for the extra thoughts.
The amplifier speaker level inputs should have a significantly higher input impedance than the speaker outs on the head unit, on the order of thousands of ohms. This will keep the impedance basically the same on the entire load, like 3.97 instead of 4 ohms. This is exactly how they are intended to be used.
Going back to the first issue, I have found that the best way to combat this is to set your levels at your ideal listening volume, but of course you are ultimately limited both by gain staging and speaker power handling.
Thanks for the video!
You don't need a lot of wire and make a big ass mess, if you do it right the first time. NEVER put your amp on your sub box. That's a #1 rookie mistake. Mount it to the car somewhere out of the way. Your box vibrates and that WILL destroy your amp.
I agree that mounting to car is better. It also makes it easier to remove the sub if needed.
@@JCTFIXIT Yess, absolutely thats a nother huge reason why u should mount ur amp to the car
where did u run the ground wire from the speaker inputs on the amp
I have a GSL/base 2011 Sonata without factory sub but had one installed aftermarket plus an aftermarket touchscreen radio. It actually produced less bass so I replaced the factory stereo myself. Now I have an amp & subwoofer not being used. I need to wire it to my factory radio without shorting things out. This video might help me. Thank you!
Good luck!
Um if you don’t have a sub , you would just tap into a speaker right?
Yes
Will my system work with rca to the rca converter to the rear left speakers wires? And what wire do you use to run the add a circuit? Speaker?
Your wording is a little confusing. Without knowing your setup, it's hard to say. Generally though on an amp, the rca inputs are for signals that are low and not being driven already. High level inputs are called such because they can handle a higher watt load incoming into the amp.
that's tite man!!!! I gonna do that!!!!! thank you for sharing.
Where to hook the power wire if you don't have under the hood battery? Should I hook it to jump start connecter?
If your battery is located somewhere else like trunk or under rear seat, just run it from there.
So when you tap into a speaker are you sharing the power from that speaker with the sub or is it just the signal?
It is used as an input signal to go to your amplifier. Then the output on the amplifier goes to the subwoofer.
@@JCTFIXIT thank you so much
Is it a regular occurrence to hook an amp and speakers to a factory stereo I am just wondering I do not want to remove my factory TV in my cadilac but I want bigger sound
Especially newer stereos with big touch screens people want better sound but don't want to mess with the head unit
i think i used hi/lo adapter back in the days. tap into the rear speakers then RCA to the amp from the adapter
Yeah you can use a line out adapter if you are amp doesn't have a high-level input
Concise video👍🏻 I have never used high level inputs before…what’s the fifth wire for?
Grounds the signals
I’m glad I found this vid , I have a sonata and I want to do this until I can find aftermarket stereo and install kit , thanks man
