Man I remember watching this tutorial before buying my first sub and now I'm here with 4kW of bass in my car, buying more and more cables, speakers and amps... :)
I saw this video 8 years ago. Im (10 years old) and I say... when I growe up I put this in my first car! Now im 18 y/o and I can say big thank you for helping make my dreams real!
This is actually easier than I thought! I can't believe how much audio shops make because people don't see a video like this. Thanks for the useful and in depth info.
i know this video is 6yrs old, but i've found it's the best shown and explained video, voice over was short and to the point, no blurryness and guide shows directly what to do with the needed instructions how to do things, extremely good video :)
Nice video lads, well put together and explained simply for everyone :D I roughly knew what I'm going to be attempting but it's good to watch you guys an learn a bit more before starting to chop my new car to bits :D Keep up the good work :D
I've installed many subs and the most annoying part is trying to figure out where the damn grommet hole location is! Lol.. But this video showed me exactly straight away where it is located on a Astra! Should make the installation alot easier! Cheers lads!
Thanks for your video instructions. Thanks to you, we solved our problem. We had no green led indicator of power. The remote cable was connected to the remote wheel cable. The wrong blue one. Thanks again, wish you the best !
thank you so much i installed a sub myself thanks again really easy and simple plus now i understand becuz i recently installed a new head unit as well
My sound system is going to bang Got a 12 inch Pioneer Champion 1000 RMS Sub that's 2 ohm and a 900 RMS kenwood amp that put's out 900 RMS at 1 ohms stable, can't wait to hook it up :)
nice video easy way to show people who have not done this type of thing before, I would say is you want to use a permanent body earth rather than the seat belt mount but other than that all good keep it up!!
Are the 600 dislikes from people who just assume this is for people trying to annoy others? A subwoofer really fills out the music more, the low end of the audio spectrum aka bass is what gives the song its thickness, power and raw energy, as well as blending it all together as a mix
Don’t disconnect the negative disconnect the positive because of the fact your vehicle is grounded out on the engine block or the chassis so if the negative hits any metal connected to where the vehicle is grounded you will have power to the vehicle other than that his video is pretty good
Sorry fella you are wrong. Always disconnect the negative. The car is not grounded through anything. The chassis and the engine block have straps which come back to the negative side of the terminal on the battery.... always always always remove the negative. Otherwise you risk potentially shorting the electrical circuit or blowing fuses or the ecu.
Spot on lads, great vid to learn off. One question: Did you connect the speaker cables to a factory radio, or was it an after-market system? I want to connect to a factory radio
The red should be ignition live, you could run a feed off there to the amp and use that as the remote. As it would turn the amp on when you turn the engine on an CDs player too. Join the site I you want some more help with your installation Bluudy
Find the fuse on the Power cable, and remove it. install your sub and amp. once everything is connected up, the last thing you do before turning it on is put the fuse back in place. hope that helps come join the forum, show us your work :)
This video is very detailed, very good explanations, definitely the best one. I was able to install my amplifier and subwoofer and connect everything but one thing I wasn't sure. My DVD player has FL out, FR out, F in and L in. Where do i connect the RCA cables? Is it in or out? And in the amplifier, is it in or out?
Great video!! I’m a huge addiction to listen to music with so much bass!! 😆 Quick question. Is it necessary to let your insurance know to declare for the sub in the boot of the car? 🙂
Yes wire size matters, about 200 to 500watts 8gauge wire is fine, but 700watts and up 4 to 0 gauge wire for sure is needed for that kind of power, but no matter what you should use at least 4 gauge power wire for any wattage under 2000watts and 14 to 10 gauge for speaker wire.
great stuff but remember to not create any areas where rust will trigger, that being said, when you sanded off the paint on the seat bracket or drilled the hole for the wire you should've applied some primer paint, incase of the earth wire, you should paint over the connection, that will stop rust and give you the best connection aswell :)
i would definatley support that idea as thats what iv done to mine aswell, but i think as that ground will never see water or if it does it wouldnt be very much, they probably didnt think it would need it :P
turn the High pass off, that way you get the low notes to your subwoofer. I think the level is the amp power, more power more bass (i think) and the boost is an increase directly to the output.
Good video. Going to attempt this tomorrow. One quick question tho (may sound daft but anyway) if I was needing to remove the sub and amp from the boot for work tools unfortunately... how would I go about doing this? Just remove all the wires from sub and amp? Not sure thats a safe way tho or is this perfectly fine lol
Its easy enough to do, Remove the fuse from the power wire, Disconnect the cables from the amp, and remove the sub and amp from the boot, Tuck your cables out the way etc. Just make sure you remove the fuse, otherwise you will cause it to earth out etc. you can get quick release connectors as well, maybe something to look into? any more questions, check out our website, link is in description, hope to see you there!
Tip for you fellas struggling with the remote wire (blue wire part). You can buy some simple wiring, and a switch. Hook the wiring onto the metal parts of the switch, then where he has the blue wire where it's separated apart on the amp on each side, hook the simple wire connected to the switch into those spots. this is an easy way to MANUALLY turn on your subs. I had to do it myself because my remote wire would not work.

Norm Murph don't attatch the amp to the speaker box. it will fuck it up with the vibrations. i suggest on the back of one of the seats that fold down.
Not the case. Dont forget you can buy active subs, which have the Amp mounted on the subwoofer.
Yeah I'm just going to take it to a garage
No bitch not everyone have money
But he has and so do i, i rather have a professional do it than myself. lol
Imperfect Gaming best buy will do it for like 25$ or so I've heard.

Good demonstration. Now I'm less nervous to DIY my new sub.
It’s like a knock of version of mighty car mods lol but bluudy is a g

But my original subwoofer video install is ranked 2 in the world. Theres is number 1. So that's not bad going :)
Bluudys Garage yes it is
Bluudys Garage wow that really isn’t bad going at all mighty car mods uk version

great video helped me understand a lot. Thanks!!
11 years later on this day its hellped me😊
Good video.
You only have one error REMOTE cable must not be with RCA cable because it was a strange sound in the middle of playing.
Great job guys!
Thx for the video helped a lot
Thanks guys for sharing

Personal choice. Check to see if your policy has cover built in towards audio equipment. Worth declaring then.
Thank you very much for your reply!

remote wire is blue in the states. coming from the cd player as well as the install kits
Great video! From start to finish! Any ideas for a remote signal in the boot of a bmw e61 pre lci?
Great tutorial

9dox9 humidity is enough to rust metal mate ;)
very true I don't live in a very humid place I didn't think of it ;P
Would spray polyurethane work over the connection?
lostsheppard87 not sure about that ;)
Nice informative video awesome !!
not to put you down or anything but it is easier and better to use a existing grommet / hole to run wiring through the firewall

What radio is that? Im looking to replace my stock 2008 saturn/opel astra. Sweet vid!
