Best video I've ever seen for making jerky. I really like how you lay out the options without the usual "this way is BAD" but rather inform people on how to make it a certain way and achieve a certain result if that's what they are after. Kudos man!
Thank you. I appreciate that. There are many ways to make it, and even this way can be played with by altering the seasonings and smoke :)
@@CookingWithRy I subscribed even though I hate your channel. You bring on the hunger pains to my stomach. Ps I actually love what you do. Thank you
@Cooking With Ry does it matter how wet the marinade is for the jerky, and do you have to include some sort of marinade or just any liquid, like honey or something? You may not see this, but if anyone else has any idea, please help out. Thanks!
The only bad way to make jerky is to not making enough to share!
I agree, i tried this marinade and it was extremely bland would never do it again, but at least the recipe was easy to follow!!! I wold never do this mix again
You’re the Bob Ross of jerky
Everyone needs a friend
i was just about to say that he is bob ross of jerky lul
Him- Now slice the meat lightly
Him- cuts the whole house

I find it pretty messed up the poor guy gets corrected on small stuff like annunciation.
I loved the video and you got a new subscriber for this video.
I’m only 21 and I still got your joke by the way, lived with my grandpa most of my life.
Great video and hope to see more
Chi-POL-tay all day long :) Thanks!

BellBoy why are you watching this?
I know... What a horrible way to die.
@@floofyboii6034 Hes sitting there with a drool bucket under his chin. This is what he has to do since he cant eat meat.
Vegans lemmi ask you a question
Do you drool everytime you cut the grass?
Who else is here because beef jerky is so expensive 🤣
ME!
Izaiah Granados yeah me
Me too! bought a hydrator and made my first ever batch today. Was great!
Meee lol
not even just that its expensive. it costs a ton of money and they give you absolute scraps
i dont know why and people will probably disagree but i think you're like the bob ross of BBQ
LOL. I've actually been told that before. But Bob has WAYYYY better hair than I do :)
I was just about to comment that
Just commented the exact same thing. It's true he makes the process look easy and relaxing.
Great comparison
damn I never knew just how much work and love went into making jerky
I have gained a new appreciation for life
All hail jerky :)
It's definitely worth it though
If thats what it takes you shuld think about learning about how to survival in natcher, thats what helped me
Who else just really wanted beef Jerkey after watching this.
Gavin McGregor no im eating it right now
I left the house at 950pm tonight to Ingles and got a bag of Ole Trapper beef jerky. Immediately after watching this. My 37 week pregnant wife insisted that I go get it ASAP. Lol. I never wanted beef jerky that bad!!!
I wanted it before watching this
yeah after i sell me house to buy a packet
Finally got a dehydrator... Drying my first rack of jerky. Great video!
Enjoy that dehydrator!
OMG, I'm drooling. I LOVE Jerky
Yeah we love it in my house, too :)

Shhhhhh.

I've never had beef jerky before, since it's not available where I live so I probably wouldn't be able to wait that long😂
I was looking for a comment that noticed that
HAHAHAHAHAHA
What I've learned following the oven version you did a year later.
1) Be careful with liquid smoke, not much at all needed or you'll ruin it (I know)
2) Spice and pepper MUCH more pronounced added after marinading, even 24 hours
3) Other meats like sirloin and tri tip really good, just refrigerate and eat in a week
4) SS cooking racks having 1 direction (not crisscrossed) much easier to clean
5) Shorter marinading times (3-4 hours) seem to rival the longer times
6) Marinading in Zip-Loc bags is great for coverage with no clean up
My wife said my 4th batch the best she's ever had. But still a jerky novice, making my 5th batch tomorrow, tri tip, cross grain, 4-hour marinade, cayenne and black pepper, 175F oven, ~6 hours. Thanks Ry!
Great tips! Thank you 👍
jerky that last days, pffftt no such thing
Because it will be eaten in one day
@@shahtiskudenslog7961 You know when you explain someone's joke, you spoil it right?
Te em no pun intended
@@shahtiskudenslog7961 thanks for ruining the joke
@@appamemes4927 But if the joke is properly dehydrated it takes longer to spoil.
I've been using your video for about 2 years making jerkey at home. Its definitely a trial-and-error process with learning the best temp, bet time length, best moisture level. But, I enjoy making jerkey at home thanks to this vid.
When u say "uu",while tasting your own homemade beef yerky ..u know its real good. Kinda envious here. :)
I need to make some more :)
This video is so calming, you are the perfect example of every grandfather that lives in a modest home on the edge of a small lake in the New England area, especially Maine and Rhode Island
Currently 4:30am getting ready for work , watching a video how to make beef jerky..
It's 4:43 am here nothing to do
Do you cook jerky for a living?
(If so, you're lucky)
Gotta have a REASON to go to work amiright?
Thanks Ry's wife...smoker looks great👍. Great video as always
I love your nasa hat. My pawpaw used to work for nasa for about 15 years. Had the same hat. Made me smile. Thank you for the great video.
I started smoking meats on an electric smoker. Once i learned the fundamentals of bbq and graduated from the electric smoker the only thing i EVER used it for was jerky. I eventually got rid of it and now just use a dehydrator. Love homemade jerky. So much better than any store brand. I can make 2.5 lbs of meat and between me and my fiance its gone within 24 hours. My 1 tip though is to remove all moisture or liquids from the surface of the meat. The more wet the surface is the longer it will take to dry because all that moisture has to be cooked off first. However, if you dont mind a longer cook time and want some of that flavor to cook onto the meat then dont worry about it. Damn i want some jerky now Ry. Thanks for the craving bud.
REally really really helpful! Our local food pantry friends had to get rid of a large boxful of frozen beef cuts. Having no room in my freezer, I searched and found your channel. I can't wait for mine to be done! Thank you, Ry!
Awesome!
That's exactly why i started making it! Started seling aswell and made back my money i spent on dehydrater in bout 2 months time
Thanks Ry's Wife!
i am from Worcestershire. its pronounced wo-ster-sher. in case anyone was curiouse. good vid mate will check out the rest of the channle

It's rare that I sit long enough to watch a vid over 5min, I watched the whole damn thing. Good video. Lots of good info. Much appreciated.
Thank you 👍
Just wanted to say thank you for all the money you save me on this I did not know it was this simple to make beef jerky. Thanks for the update.

Lessons I'll Never Learn: Watching Food Cooking videos while Hungry! LOL!
One of the Best cooking channel no cap
Now I see why they put like 4 pieces in each pack of beef jerky. The process is very long
The price they charge is crazy!
I know right, it’s ridiculous
Yeah it’s like 3$ for small bag and 6$ for a big bag
@@itsalexwrld thats cheap compared to kosher beef jerkey
Probably the best cook show on yt
Thank you so much :)
Never watched you before, but really enjoyed this video. I'm subscribing and looking forward to more!

Oh he’s the best love his stuff
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Finally someone that actually covers how to tell if the jerky is done. I have been so frustrated by so many other videos. Low Res, they go from setting up and putting it in the oven then suddenly they are eating it. I can't believe how many jerky videos I watch that don't cover the MOST IMPORTANT PART OF MAKING JERKY.
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words :)
You made it look so good I'm mad I can't taste it
the self control this man has is of the roooooof !!!
Nice to see people like you making legitimately educational videos
Thanks! I'm glad people get something out of the videos :)
I made a batch of jerky yesterday in our new Dehydrator and it turned out great. I already watched your video with jerky made in the oven which I'm gonna try next and I also have a smoker that I will be making another batch in according to your recipe. Thanks again for sharing your jerky video's.
Awesome!
I seldom leave comments, but this is the best how to video I have seen. Thank you for explaining exactly how and how not to make jerky....now if I can just get the hubs to share his secret marinade!
I tried yellow tail jerky when I was a kid. It was the best jerky I have ever had.
I don’t know why this is in my recommend but thank you RUclips for recommending some good content
Awesome! Can’t wait to do my grass fed beef and venison!
Wouldn’t have noticed the antenna if ya didn’t point it out 😂
Yeah I'm picky about my videos, though. It bugs me when I don't see that during filing :)
Cooking With Ry not a problem this video was still very informative and helpful 👍
I watched the whole video and didn’t even notice the antenna (must’ve missed the message) and didn’t realize it was their till I saw this comment
You're like the Bob Ross of the kitchen. Beautiful.
I love how he gets straight to the point when explaining everything

I actually love homemade jerky, it’s better than having like jack links, I grew up having it and thought it was the best till I had homemade, you can make it just how you like, it hot, sweet, anything, I’m pretty sure you agree... you got you another sub, keep it up buddy👍🏼
Yeah so many different ways to make it. Everyone can find their own favorite method and flavors :)
With my first batch I had no smoke at 160 so I increased the temp to 225. When smoke started I put the racks in and after 15 minutes I reset it to 160. Checked it at 4 hours - too late, it snapped. I ordered the Masterbuilt Slow Smoker attachment and will try that today. I already cold smoked cheese and almonds using it so it's well seasoned. I expect great jerky this time! Thank you for this great video.
Hey brother, I'm a new subscriber and I just have to say that I absolutely enjoy your videos. You provide a lot of information and process through all of your videos. You're definitely making a difference to us youtube searchers. Thank you for all of your videography and research/ knowledge. We appreciate your efforts and time. You're doing a great job brother!!
Hey thanks so much for the kind words 😊
My friend puts his beef jerky on refrigerator for 13 days. He said its a lot better. I want to try it.
Always like jerky on camp trips. Might have to try my hand at it now.
We used to break it into pieces and add it to trail mix on backpacking trips.
You got to appreciate the dedication making videos while sick 👍🏻
Beef Jerky promotes healing. For me, at least 😀
I made a couple batches of jerky last year and it was great! I used the snake method on my Napoleon Apollo, and I was able to keep it steady around 140 for about 8 hours. I've got an entire eye of round roast in the freezer that I've been meaning to make another batch with. Just need to find the time. That jerky looked amazing Ry! Great video as always!
Eye of Round is a great cut for jerky!
Cooking with ry hope your ok and healthy thanks for all your tips and tricks
You seem like the nicest barbecue/cooking guy on youtube. Great video!

@@CookingWithRy well you have a new sub from me sir. And yes....I cant wait for that great question I get from my wife, 'what are you making?'
Beef Jerky honey......
I got a batch of jerky marinating right now, weird how youtube would recommend this for me now of all times. Still, great tips in here. I'll be applying them to my routine.
So many ways to make great jerky :)
Wanna send me some? 🤣

This is the food of the gods and bless you for showing me how to make my own godly food.
I watch oneeeee master chef video ONEEE now I get food video recommendations
I love beef jerky. Some spicy beef jerky and a nice old beer. YUM
That looks soooooo good I'm starving now😂
Looks like I need to bust out my dehydrator. Thanks for reigniting the urge to make beef jerky again!
And making it yourself saves a ton of money. It's crazy how expensive it is to buy :)
Not to mention how much better it tastes! I love meat, but the first few times I gave those packages at the gas station a try I was like well I guess I dont like dry meat. But then years later I had some that was fresh from a deli that made theirs on site and oh my the difference was night and day. Its my food of choice for long ass road trips! And to eat in general 😁
Thank you for the jerky videos, I’m going to try doing this in my smoker, it’s neat that you’ve done chicken as well..you make it look easy to satisfy that jerky craving I get, at a fraction of the price of buying it in stores..way to go Sir! 😉
Starting today, im gonna watch ur vids before I sleep.
It so soothing.
You're a cool guy!
Thank you :)
I trust this man. Idk why but I believe this man would have my best interests at heart. Just a vibe
Very nice you cut your quite a bit thicker than mine. I like to cut with the grain and like mine dry and pully. Yours Looks good, going to try your way next
So many ways to make jerky. That's what makes it so versatile. There's a taste and consistency for everyone :)

Wonder what brand of marinade the Indians and pioneers used? All you beginners out there, please start with something simple like salt and smoke, THEN make it your own a little bit at a time! Good job Ry! Keep up the good work!
Don't know how I got here,
but damn that's a great beef jerky video if I've ever seen one! You got me running to my nearest gas station!
I like the way you tested jerky and show us the details so we could know when it is done. and throw the video you always add some gems here and there. also I really appreciates that you choose and use the proper kind of music and music volume. The video is not too fast not too long and full of information for me. your way of speak is relaxing. I already scribed and liked this video even if it the first one I watched on your channel. Thanks for that Ry 🙂
Imagine how awesome it would be to have him as a dad or a gpa, just always has fresh jerky
So I would have to share? 😂

Hey Ry, can you do a video of yourself singing the Grinch song?
That jerky looked great. It's something I'd really like to make here.
You could build a smokehouse easily. Joe has one and runs it off an old hot place with sawdust.
That's right Russ, drive June Bug and Willow crazy for 4 to 6 hrs.
Lol I'm 13 and tbh I don't really care about cooking but this guy is so likable and he's getting me into cooking.. Great video
And here in Ireland we don't have beef jerky so I think that's what made it interesting
17:50 I swear I could smell it
Thanks! You should try making some. It can be done in the oven. I'm actually doing a video on that process soon :)
My wife's family is all from Ireland and they love jerky :)
Great job on the jerky,Ry, I would love to try it, but I don't think I could keep my WSM -18 that low for that long. Keep up the good work Ry, your videos rock.
You certainly can, just close 2 bottom vents, keep one open for about 1/3 and control airflow with the top vent.
