      While I know Inara is by far the easiest way to find profitable trade routes I'd love to see a video that really explains how to use the in-game trading tools (things like the galaxy map commodity filters, the import/export indicators, how these things tie into the options on the commodity trading screen and also how that screen highlights other places where you might get a better price). Plus the significance of supply and demand and the bulk trading tax.

      I've played this game on and off for years. I like to mostly play blind without looking up videos. HOwever, I managed to somehow "skip" not notice most of the "story" missions. I think there are a lot of players like this. "Thargoid" to me is just something "other people do". All the options about it are greyed out on my screen - there's no indication of what I should do to start the "quest". Can you do a guide on how to start these story missions?

    Some things to add for quality of life.
    1) a fuel scoop or dont forget about the fuel rats.
    2) collect as much gaurdian components as you are up to gathering. You might want more gaurdian tech later and not having to make another trip out there is always nice.
    Lastly the timer for the pillars is rather forgiving so while stressful the first time its not as bad as it seems.

    The most common question I see from newcomers is how to get started in the engineering process. You could have a video covering the basics of unlocking the first couple engineers, and how the unlocks usually go with needing commodities and leveling up your reputation with the engineer. And of course how to make the process fun 🤘

    If you make the trip out there and you have some spare time i would suggest to gather the materials for the Guradinag shield reenforcments and the Guardian Gauss Cannon (all 3 types). I put the time in to get all the Guardian modules unlocked, i never used the power destributors and the Powerplant only once. Guardina plasma chargers are fun but have limited use. The shard Cannons seem to be uses by some Anti Xeno comanders so it could be worth getting if you try to get into the thargoid war.

    Concerning the Sentinels I'd actually recommend practicing SRV driving for a bit, especially how to get away fast on difficult terrain. One Sentinel is pretty easy to get rid of, when it's two or three, those can be very annoying and explode an SRV pretty quickly.
    I'm playing with HOTAS, but when fighting Sentinels in my SRV I toggle off drive assist, and change to mouse and keyboard and activated turret. That takes some more practice since you're not driving into the direction you're looking, but if you have some open space and you got some practice, dodging Sentinel fire and missiles by simply driving sideways while keeping up the fire is pretty easy. Toggling drive assist off is the key here, so the SRV won't keep on driving once you stop pushing the acceleration button.
    Good luck!

    Prior Preparation and Planning. I recommend that you Material purchase the Pre engineered FSD. Mass Manager it for a Brucey bonus. Get your Focus Crystals. A Scorpion copes with Guardian Sites significantly more easily than the Scarab. Then on a DBX, but preferably an Asp X or Phantom for the win. Pre purchase your HN Shock mounts and off we go. This way you can get the remaining material and Guardian Blueprint. Then jump over to The Prospect (a couple of jumps away). Purchase it and fit it to your ship either to continue unlocking other Guardian items or to make that trip home with that sweet extra 10.5Ly increase per jump (for the size 5 on the Asp X/Phantom.

    • @Neo-vz8nh
      @Neo-vz8nh 5 месяцев назад

      Jumping 2x600 ly with cargo is not a good idea. Not only it reduce the jumprange, but also attracts pirates.
      And unlocking the pre engineered FSD is way more challanging.
      The scorpion is better for the job, i absolutly agree.

    • @williamvorkosigan5151
      @williamvorkosigan5151 5 месяцев назад

      @@Neo-vz8nh I did this with the last two players I mentored and it worked great. Jump Range: It is only 8 Tons. Carrying cargo attracting pirates: Not many pirates in the deep black. Why did you phrase it 2x600 Ly? Did you perhaps think I took them all the way out there and all the way back with 8 HN Shock Mounts? There is a Guardian Tech Broker on The Prospect. This is one, perhaps two jumps from the Guardian Blueprint Module site I use. In short, there was no problem, but I will keep it under review.

    • @Neo-vz8nh
      @Neo-vz8nh 5 месяцев назад

      @@williamvorkosigan5151 make some sense, but still not see why is it better, then go out and back then doing the commondity. Pirates can be spawned quite far, half of the jumps still risks pirates.

    • @williamvorkosigan5151
      @williamvorkosigan5151 5 месяцев назад

      @@Neo-vz8nh No problems so far. You use Inara to buy HN Shock Mounts at the closest place to the site. This means no more than one or two jumps and you are out of the bubble. An extra 10.5 Ly per jump for the return journey and/or to go further out to the Obelisk Spin location (with a great Brain Tree, Selenium orchard 1.2km away.). The worst that can happen is a trip to the rebuy screen if you get ganked at the Blueprint site. We always touch down at the bus station in the same system as The Prospect on the way out so you are only going to wake up there if the worst happens.
