    I have to say I love the python mk2. I am using it to bounty hunt and get pirates for bgs. It is useful for bgs missions as well (because of the speed and sco). And getting off planets for on foot missions is now much quicker. Of course with Hadad due to go boom soon there are those thinking of using it as a Titan bomber as well.

    I don't foresee switching my current Python mining ship to a Mk.II, but it does feel pretty amazing for bounty hunting.
    Not having cargo space and limpets to collect goodies from fallen ships kinda sucks, but I have my corvette for that.

    Everyone wanted a purpose-built ship...in other words we didn't want another multipurpose ship that can do everything...but not the best at anything. So they brought us the p2 that is specifically built for combat.
    Buy a krait if you want a do-it-all ship.

  • @DjVortex-w

    Some commanders are using it for exploration. Not the sort of exploration that requires huge jump ranges, but the sort where you use your fleet carrier as your "home base" and do exploration of nearby systems. While, rather obviously, any ship would fill that role just fine, the better SCO handling makes it have an edge over all others. (After all, SCO is useful for in-system exploration.) Plus, it looks cool.

    • @DiturisElite
      @DiturisElite  3 месяца назад

      Yeah, I was gonna talk about this. In the end though every ship works for exploring so it’s a bit of an obvious outcome for the video! Still, the SCO stability is a cool perk 🫡

  • @guhak

    With regards to collector limpets, it *does* actually have room for more.
    Instead of the 3A collector controller use a 3B operations multi controller (or the mining one, doesn’t really matter just DONT use the prospector from the mining controller).
    The size 3 multi controllers give more collector limpets than the equivalent size 3 collector controller at no real drawbacks while mining (just again, do not use the prospector from it). This allows us to squeeze a bit more limpets, or in some smaller ships frees up a slot you’d otherwise have used for additional limpet controllers.
    As for prospector, you always need to use a dedicated A rank prospector due to the mining multi controller counting as a C rank prospector and thus giving you less chunks per asteroid compared to the A rated prospector.
    Oh also, iirc operations controller gives you hatch breakers too so could be useful in the piracy build.
    EDIT: As brought up in the replies (thanks!) the above note for prospectors should only apply to any *laser* mining portion. The number of asteroid chunks you get from a core mining explosion is solely determined by your charge setting. So if you’re confident you’ll only do core mining and need the slot, can feel free to use the mining multi controller alone. Though that may end up meaning you’re down a collector limpet, I’ve never tried that workflow since I laser mine while core mining too, so I’m not sure if the multi prospector would use up a normal collector limpet slot after the asteroid breaks…

    • @DiturisElite
      @DiturisElite  3 месяца назад

      Yep… I realised this as soon as I finished filming, and probably a good idea. I’ll try it out with the piracy build 🫡

    • @raven9ine
      @raven9ine 3 месяца назад

      Wait, the prospector limpet grade defines how many chunks an asteroid has when core mining? Never would have guessed that, makes little sense IMHO.
      How many fragments does anyone get on average? I haven't been mining in a while and only recently went with only the mining multi limpet, and had between 13-17 fragments I think. One was 11 becasue I had a tad too much boom strength.

    • @guhak
      @guhak 3 месяца назад +1

      @@raven9ine actually for core mining specifically it shouldn’t you’re right. I always do core and laser mining with the same build so I honestly forgot to specify that was for laser specifically. So if you know you’re only going to do core mining and you could use that 1A prospector slot for something else, the mining controller should be fine you’re right.
      That being said, I think I’d be really worried then of accidentally getting into the habit of using that prospector and then using it for laser mining lmao, but that’s probably just a me problem haha.
      Also for number of chunks per blown up asteroid, it varies depending on the type of ring is my understanding. At the optimal range in rocky rings (like monazite etc.) I’d usually get like 11-13 range? In icy rings I think it was higher like 14-15 range but I haven’t done one of those in a while. Metallic rings also in the 11-13 ish range iirc, based off my experience alone that is. There’s probably some resource on the elite miners subreddit that tabulated the average rates if you searched for it

    • @raven9ine
      @raven9ine 3 месяца назад +1

      @@guhak thanks for clarification. TBH I have done laser mining the first time ever just this week. I know it's the more profitable mining, but deep core is just so damn satisfying. 🙂
      Anyway, my Krait now also has 3 minibg lasers, so I can do both and will keep the A rated prospector.

    • @guhak
      @guhak 3 месяца назад

      @@raven9ine I too really like core mining, I just liked being able to do them both at the same time anyway though haha. Is it efficient? No not really. But hey, I like mining so it’s fun!
      And, for what it’s worth, in rocky rings very often a core asteroid, or one you thought was a core but drat it wasn’t, will prospect to having gold, silver, osmium, etc. which are all decently pricey anyway. Sure they may not sell as exorbitantly high as the core mineral would, but it’s not that bad to laser them up before you blow up the asteroid / go searching for a real core I feel.
      So hope you end up enjoying the mix too :)

  • @KingArthurFleck

    The Python Mk II is now best in class as a Titan-bomber in wing. Carrying 4 size 3 ax missile racks plus size 2 Nanite Torpedo and LR/TV beam laser means heavy hitting on the core as long as you have some cover from other friendlies. And all those heat sinks!! Link the heat sinks to the Nanite torpedo and you stay frosty and undetected.

    Tried it at Spire Sites, both with Anti-Anti Guardian Field engineered normal Guardian Shards as per the CMDR Mechan Oreo Snacker build and also with 4x C3 Azimuth pre-engineered AX Multicannons.
    Well, it IS squishy. AGF normal shards are good vs Orthus, and that's it.
    In Open rando Spire running, errything is full of Scouts and Cyclops, so I've found it better to run Azimuth Multis, 4x Causti Sinks, SNF+Adv Xeno Scanner, and kill all Scouts, help w/ Cyclops, and just tag the Orthus, made for a better run overall, as you can filfill a role that is needed but large ships are reluctant to do, and you are quick enough to be everywhere all at once, so you don't miss the phat Oreo 40M bounds either.
    I didn't need this ship, but it' s okay. For other AX things, ShardConda, MultiPass Krait and Meta Chief is still better.
    Don"t know about PvE bounty Hunting, I just use my Corvette.
    Py2 should be a fun 4x Pacifier build tho.

      47 ly jump range with FSD booster is on the short side for getting to the unexplored parts of the galaxy (those first 1000-2000 lys) and/or long range exploration at the edge of the galaxy. But it is likely servicable, just as anything else is.

    • @DiturisElite

      If your exploration need works with the shorter range compared to e.g. the Asp Explorer, the better supercruise boost handling can be worth it. Especially if you were planning to use your carrier as a base and explore one 500x500 cube of space at a time.
      The danger with damage from overheating is there regardless of ship, but the Python mkII is at least better on that aspect I think.
      A fully self reliant large exploration ship like the Anaconda with repair limpets and twin ASFDU might be better off, but you still can't repair the power plant without docking.

      Do not mine with the prospectors from a mining limpet controller. They sadly will be below A rating and your prospector is directly tied to how much you can get out of an asteroid (more chunks get generated with an A rated prospector attached to it).
      The size 3 mining or operations controller *is* good though for the fact it gives you 4 limpets and is just straight up an upgrade over the size 3 collector limpet controller (at a higher mass cost)

      It's a completely different type of game, can't compare them just because they are all space themed. X4 is more of a strategy, NMS is more of a survival type (with more planetary exploration) and ED just has the best space flight model (which makes it good at combat gameplay) and space exploration (more in a sense of finding systems/vistas) leaning more on realism. Oh and also it actually has a community and galaxy events, it's more of an "old-school" sandbox type.
      You'll like the one that fits your playstyle more naturally.
