You two are like the song, bright optimism and looking for the best- in the songs, in each other as a couple…omg you two have been a bright spot I go to during these past few crazy years! This song was inspirational when I was 17 in Oakland, you two are inspiration at 49 in Chicago.
This is one of the few songs that I can always remember the lyrics to. The first verse is: High time we made a stand And shook-up the views of the common man The love train Rides from coast to coast DJ's the man we love the most Could you be, could you be, squeaky-clean And smash any hope of democracy The headline, says you're free to choose There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes One of these days they're gonna call it the blues Yeah, yeah [chorus]
@@AG-lm5uf it’s also Penny Lane and even the sound of the guitar in parts is like in Everybody’s got something to hide except for me and my monkey. It’s a full-blown Beatles homage song 👍🏻
I enjoy it when you two have a discussion about the song afterward, share impressions and whatnot. Brings the "reaction" full circle. Love these videos, hope y'all are having a good day!
This album by Tears for Fears was hailed at the time as a second Sgt Peppers Lonely Heartsclub Band album. My favorites are "Advice for the young at hearts" and "Womain in Chains" with Oleta Adams on vocals (check out here first album and her song "Get Here", fantastic voice).
Loved this song in 1989 and same response today, very Beatles-like. the message is the BEST! BTW, The lyrics doesn’t say “Jew” here’s they say shoes: “High time we made a stand and shook up the views of the common man And the lovetrain rides from coast to coast D.J.'s the man we love the most Could you be, could you be squeaky clean And smash any hope of democracy? As the headline says you're free to choose There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes One of these days they're gonna call it the blues yeah”
“Shout” “Break It Down Again” and “Women in Chains” by Tears For Fears are also great. I love how you found Tears For Fears. Such a great group. “Woman in Chains” came out 32 years ago today is what the band posted on Facebook.
The girl in the video is his wife Caroline who is now deceased. They bought a beautiful cottage and had two little boys and outside their cottage was a sunflower plaque on the wall just like in the video. So I hope you see this and like the story behind it.
Been listening to their music since I was literally a little girl, I’m in my late 20s now. My mom made sure I knew their amazing music and I love her for that 😂
2:50 The lyrics are "As the headline says you're free to choose. There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes. One of these days you're gonna call it the blues". It doesn't have anything to do with freeing the jews or blood as many have explained. One of my favorite Tears For Fears songs.
I Am Native American (Navajo) And I Have Lived My Life By The Belief That,, The Earth Is My Mother And ALL Her Children My Brothers & Sisters..One World,, One Love,, One Race...Human. "Happy One" (Hozho Taalai)
I can’t believe you guys reacted to this. One of my favorite groups of all time. That entire “The seeds of love” album is awesome. Ya’ll should react to “advice for the young at heart”, “woman in chains”#TEARSFORFEARS
To me there is nothing cooler than experiencing different cultures. We all bring something unique to this world, why not enjoy those differences...love one another every minute of every hour.
Thank you both for your reactions; you are two of the most real people doing these and I love your reviews!. (Side note: Jai, you look like you're fifteen with your hair like that; love it!).
Tears for fears only released 3 studio albums in the eighties, they are still touring and are universally respected. Check tgeir debut album, The Hurting.
Besides some songs by Oasis, this is the most Beatle-like song I’ve ever heard and probably the most complete. Those who aren’t familiar with The Beatles’ music won’t notice but to the rest of us it’s right in our faces. An amazing accomplishment.
Y'all make me smile. You're both gorgeous, beautiful people! Open minds, baby. Open minds! BOOM! You inspired this... I don't have to do it the way you did. I don't care what religion or color. I care about how you treat, and how you do. good vibes, baby! good vibes! boom!
Oh great conversation at the end. You two are awesome. Yea if you judge someone the way you are yourself is a hippocrate. You guys just made me love ya more saying you don't judge people. Love it. I wish everyone was like that then our country wouldn't be in such a mess
jai... you're all heart. it's so clear. your heart makes your physical beauty glow. Half has heart... you. Half comes from the head, most of the time. i'm indigenous, Cree Nation, to be specific. our belief is the woman is the heart and sometimes has to bring her man to his heart; it's his job to keep her safe from harm as they walk together. Out of this.. a strong relationship and bond grows.
You are free to choose; there's egg on your face and mud on your shoes. All common phrases describe someone who has been fooled. We have been misled to believe we are free to choose.
If your of a certain age you will instantly recognize the influence of the Beatles and in particular the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Nobody ever got closer to the sound of the Beatles it’s screaming out at you in this truly remarkable track.
You are both right about being open minded and not thinking someone is wrong because they do something a different way than you would do. I saw a comment below that is a perfect example of someone being "judgy"! People like that must be very unhappy and miserable! 🤨
Glad you enjoyed TFF. Please tell me you listened to the first 3 songs on the Sowing album. Woman In Chains, Bad Man's Song, and "Sowing" are an amazing trio. The first two feature Oleta Adams as a duet partner to Roland O. Bad Man's Song is an amazing arrangement.
High time we made a stand and shook up the views of the common man and the love train rides from coast to coast DJ's the man we love the most, could you be could you be squeaky clean and smash any hope of democracy as the head-line says your free yo choose there's egg on your face and mud on your shoes one of these days they're gonna call it the blues yeah yeah sowing the seeds of love seeds of love seeds of love, This is the beginning of the song,
I agree. Love and acceptance and the willingness to be open to others is the key. On a side note, my life's philosophy/understanding has always been "every human is fucked up to some degree (there are no exceptions). The best and the worst thing you can possibly think of has probably already happened, or is happening right now. That's humans." We just need to understand and accept that (as horrible or great as it is), but any act that is harmful/against any person's will should be made accountable and judged accordingly. Well, that's just my 2 cents worth! Woah! that was a bit of an intense comment for a music video reaction, but I stand by it (and I may be slightly drunk)! Great reaction guys. xx (sub'd)
Hey, since you're on a Tears For Fears groove and you dig the positive message of this song's lyrics, consider an older Tears For Fears song, "Change," as in "you can change." It's great for people stuck in a mindset. 😀👍✌
WELL DONE GUYS. I continually ask other reactors to TEARS FOR FEARS to WATCH THE VIDEO, as well and you did to help get what this song is about. HEAVILY influenced, like hundreds of other Artists by THE BEATLES... I'm sure you have done "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" but there is ALSO Advice For The Young At Heart WITH VIDEO 1, Head Over Heels (Great video ) SHOUT, Mad World, Woman In Chains, Pale Shelter, and many more so ENJOY :)
I think you should react to Faouzia!! Specifically her stripped versions of songs like “tears of gold (stripped)” or “how it all works out (stripped)”! she has such a big and beautiful voice, plus plays the piano and just is overall so so talented!! I think you’ll be blown away!
Love you guys so much. Genuine good people and I know y'all liked the Forever and ever amen song. I also know you like the storylines in country music. That said you should react to Three wooden crosses by Randy Travis. It is amazing and emotional uplifting. Love you guys and you got a new subscriber. Good vibes baby
New Slipknot just dropped like almost 8 and a half hours ago. The song is called The Chapeltown Rag. It’s heavy and so good hell yeah. Also Imminence with Chasing Shadows and Alleviate.
If you get a chance, I’d dig hearing your thoughts on a couple of tunes I think are mostly unknown and underrated... a few years ago I started listening to this young kid doing RUclips covers in his bedroom. I was amazed by two in particular - a cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ and a guitar cover of ‘When Somebody Loved Me’ by Sarah McLachlan. I was completely awestruck by the emotion and rawness he put into those songs in particular, and I flat out told him so. Fast forward a few years and sure as sh*t, he’s on The Voice, makes it to the finals, doesn’t win, but moves ahead with rock solid songs of his own. His name is Zeek Power, and you probably already know his work, but man, if those two covers don’t make Jai cry, I’d be shocked... I know I did. Thanks for all the great reviews and reactions, they’re some of the best out there - you guys are a great team. Keep ‘em coming. ☮️💟☯️
He said “the headline says ‘you’re free to choose’, but there’s egg on your face and mud on your shoes”
I had to look it up after he questioned it 😁
I love this song. Highly underrated
Indeed, sow the seeds of love! Marry before you carry. Fathers, raise your kids; don't abandon them.

I'm with ya
Idk if people use those terms so much ... especially in USA.
Egg on your face...
I am the eggman......mmmhmmm
@@LaurenLawDawg Egg on your face, means you look foolish after (generally) someone else has shown you up, made you look an idiot.
Critically this is their their best hit song even if others are more popular. Top shelf from this powerhouse duo.
I loved the whole commentary afterwards. Thank y'all for being genuinely good people. We need more open-minded people in this world. ✌❤🎵
OMG!!! I LOVE this song!! I haven't listened to it in years, I am so glad you reacted to it.
Luv you guys ❤️
They really tapped into a Sgt. Pepper's/Beatles-esque sound with this tune. And did so admirably.
Yeah it’s basically the same chords as “I Am The Walrus” but with a minor
That just hit me and I can't believe I didn't notice that when it came out.
@@AG-lm5uf but...better!

Watched many reaction videos to this song this was by far the best. Every human right now needs to watch and listen to that music video. 🎶
Such a good song! Well composed with all the different pieces but melted together geniously!!
Thx for reacting!🎶🎤💜
“Shout” “Break It Down Again” and “Women in Chains” by Tears For Fears are also great. I love how you found Tears For Fears. Such a great group. “Woman in Chains” came out 32 years ago today is what the band posted on Facebook.
Head over Heels is my favorite by them. They have many good ones but all you hear is Shout or Everybody Wants To Rule The World.
_Mad World_ is better than those songs.
These were just suggestions. They have more than one good song.
I LOVE Woman in Chains with Olethia......AMMMMAAAAZZZING!!
The girl in the video is his wife Caroline who is now deceased. They bought a beautiful cottage and had two little boys and outside their cottage was a sunflower plaque on the wall just like in the video. So I hope you see this and like the story behind it.

This song was their direct respectful homage to The Beatles song "All You Need Is Love".
"Time to eat all your words
Swallow your pride
Open your eyes"
Thanks for your words. Needed to hear them tonight. 🙏🏻 Happy to see others open minded, and finding the love in the song. 💕
Surprise- Tears for Fears just released a new single "The Tipping Point" only 3 weeks ago- check out what they look like now...

'Every child should hear this song' - Good call.
This is my favorite song of theirs to sing.
Saw them last night at MSG. If they're performing near you, rush to get those tickets. Over 40 years in the game and they sound even better live 🤩
"I wish there was more people that are opened-minded".....THIS RIGHT HERE!
To me there is nothing cooler than experiencing different cultures. We all bring something unique to this world, why not enjoy those differences...love one another every minute of every hour.
I love Tears For Fears. Brilliant pop music with genuinely profound lyrics (not all as happy as this). So many _great_ songs.
Amen y'all...its not our job to judge...Act out of Love for each other.
Oh my! Tears for Fears catalog is big. Check out other songs as well!
This song is about planting a new world with love.
Love you guys. Thanks for posting to this fine song. Yes!
I’m 45. I remember this song coming out and hoping I’d see a world of open mindedness.
You are both awesome! It’s all love! Love sees no judgement.
The Beatles would be very shock and glad for this song!
I believe the inspiration is The Beatles “I am the Walrus”. Very similar vibe and instrumentation.
This song is an absolute work of art.
Guys, please do a reaction to , ''mike and the mechanics - in the living years'' much love
Such a great song. It really hits you in the heart.
Great choice.. damn
Ain't no one getting thru that song without shedding tears, don't care who they are.
Keep going, this band is so awesome. Diverse catalogue of great music. You picked a great tune.
It's soooo great to see you two appreciate this song so much. Amazing reaction! :))
Incredible, soulful, lyrically exquisite sing!

Woman In Chains with Oleta Adams is a must hear from TFF. Great reactions! ✌
or better yet, badman’s song with Oleta off this album is amazing!
Love the part by Curt Smith Time to read all your words, swallow your pride and open your eyes

you 2 are wonderful. Check out these other Tears for Fears songs, Mad World, Pale Shelter, Woman in Chains or Closest thing to Heaven
This song was a tip of the hat to The Beatles. Tears For Fears = Very underrated
Этот клип и отчасти музыка напоминают мне клипы и песни Питера Гэбриэла. Он тоже тогда был на пике популярности.
You both had reacted to " Everybody wants to rule the world!^ totally different song. Both awesome song's! Listen to head over heels!

Great stuff. Loved the song then, and it's as important a message now as it ever was. So good.
It's definitely a Beatles-like sound to this song. Especially, "I am The Walrus" by the Beatles on their Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album.

They should do the cover from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. The og version is good but the cover is everything.
