the entire The Seeds of Love album is pretty much a homage of the Beetles (It was one of the most expensive albums at the time) the entire album has that “Wall of Sound” vibe (Its a impressive/amazing album) Tears for Fears is so criminally overlooked imo 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤👍👍👍
One of my favorite bands of all time! The Beatles homage is obvious and well done. The trumpet (or French horn?) is straight up Penny Lane vibes. Badman's Song from this album and The Working Hour from their Big Chair albums are their 2 best songs imo and more than reaction worthy. Either one being next would be great!
They said that during their “Big Chair” tour of America, they were actually introduced to a lot of music including, the Beach Boys, Gospel, and strange enough, the Beatles. This influenced their style for this album.
Both Roland and Curt have no problem admitting their Beatles influence. Another great song from this album is “Advice for the young at heart”. Their new album “The Tipping point” is so good!
Yes, I'm addicted to their new album! I saw Roland Orzabel in concert in NYC in the 90s when they were broken up. He was awesome, but I'm so glad they're back together and making great new music. Love "Rivers of Mercy" and "Long Long Time" on their new album.
Definitely check out “Advice for the Young at Heart” from the same album. As well as “Mother’s Talk” from their second. I’m more of a hard rock and metal guy, but Tears for Fears has ALWAYS been an exception! One of my all time favorites!
Jim Seals of Seals & Crofts died the other day. They had some great songs in the 70's. I had the good fortune to see them in 90's for a reunion tour at the Valley Forge Music Fair. You'd like some of their music. ''Summer Breeze' #nicknlexrequest & 'Humming Bird' would be great to react to.
It’s so on the nose with the Beatles tropes, absolutely right. Answering the question of how many Beatles elements can you fit into one song. I thought the first album seemed to be a bit more original. It’s interesting to note that early Tears For Fears was almost prog with a lot of odd time signatures and complicated phrasing and I do think the guitarist is really talented. Thanks again guys!
Aww man, i absolutely love Tears for Fears. This must have been the first song of theirs I ever heard as a kid. This album and the pre-decessor 'Songs from the Big Chair' are 80s pop classics you can play from start to end without regretting a single note. Have some great extra time with your extra family!
One of my all-Time Favorite Rock group and gods!!!! Dedicated to The Beatles and Stg. Pepper & the Lonely Hearts Club Band album....Tears For Fears along With ELO on their "Out Of The Blue" album...constructed an album that reminds us of The Beatles. Excellent album!!! Every song is a gem!!!!
Just saw them 2 weeks ago in Houston. They were incredible. These two have not lost a step. They were perfect in every song they sand. Sounded so good! Best concert I have seen in 20 years.
Interesting that at the end of the 80s they were singing "an end to the politics of greed"...which defined the '80s, pretty much. This was such a rare taste of groovy at the time. Thanks for bringing it back. "Light and Day" by the Polyphonic Spree has a similarly positive chakric vibration, more akin to your own high vibration.
Thanks for more Tears For Fears. I play them all the time. Their new album is great, I'd suggest checking out the title cut, The Tipping Point, a great song. The title cut of the album, Raoul and the Kings of Spain is incredible as is the title cut of the album, Elemental. Other songs to check out: Break It Down Again, Goodnight Song, God's Mistake, Secrets, Mr. Pessimist, Badman's Song, Sketches of Pain.... there's so many. Great reaction y'all!
I agree Michelle.I must have heard the chorus 100’s of times.when i was young lad.😀 but like Lex said, when you sit down with some good headphones there is a lot happing in this song! I was impressed and enjoyed!
@@ericmeredith8754 Exactly. I just experienced that with Supertramp over in Patreon. Thanks, Eric. ✨😉
Great reaction you too are easy to listen to, saw them in concert Sunday night in San Diego it's was ridiculous they sounded amazing every single song! TFF are definitely one of they greatest ever!!
"Time to eat all your words; swallow your pride; open your eyes". One of the greatest lines in the history of musicianship, imo, Beatles influenced or not.
I literally thought my friend was kidding when he recommended this album, but it's become one of my favorites. There are some real pros like Pino Palladino (bass) and Manu Katche (drums) on some of the songs but nobody's showing off, just accentuating the excellent songwriting (ala Sting's bands over the years). Just a tasty album overall.
Every time I hear this song I remember a friend of mine saying he was waiting for the 'koo koo kachoo' from I Am The Walrus 😀 My favorite songs from TFF were "Pale Shelter" and "Mad World". If you're ever up to reaction to a cover, "Mad World" by Postmodern Jukebox would be my suggestion 😉
NICK , LEX , CON TODO RESPETO, LOS 60 70 Y LOS 80 SENTARON LAS BASES DE LA VERDADERA MÚSICA DE VERDAD QUE NUNCA MORIRA. TODO REAL MUSICOS Y VOCES REALES, TALENTO QUE AHORA NO SE REPETIRÁ. TENGO 65 , Y LA DISFRUTE AL MAXIMO Y AUN NO ME CANSO.
May I suggest it's time for some Talk Talk? ... "Happiness Is Easy," "It's My Life," "Living In Another World," and "Such A Shame" from the albums IT'S MY LIFE and THE COLOUR OF SPRING are essential listening of the 80s.
From the same album, check out Badman’s Song. Oleta Adam’s contribution to this song and the album cannot be overstated enough. A brilliant vocalist and pianist. Loved the reaction. 🔥❤️✌️
About "Hotel California" - The line "They stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast. " was an answer to the line in the Steely Dan song "Everything You Did" which goes "Turn up The Eagles, the neighbors are listening ". This implied that the pleasant sounding Eagles music would cover up the argument that was going on. Evidently Becker's girlfriend liked the Eagles.
This is my favorite T4F album. I've always been an avid cyclist. Back when this was released I always used a walkman when riding and it was glorious. 4 miles till the endorphin rush and then it was Katie bar the door. I never knew when I would return home. This whole LP is fabulous and was one of my favorites on the bike. Your reaction brought back tons of great memories. I'm now 68 and still bike every day, always listening to music or ebooks while riding :)
Love me some Tears for Fears. I saw them live once in 1994 I think. Fantastic band. The music video is great as well, a must view. Btw, your audio on this song was just amazing, both the song and your own voices.
Yes, The Beatles are a huge influence on TFF and they are not ashamed to express that! Their album from 2003 was a TOTAL Beatle love fest! I love both bands so I’m happy to go along for the ride!
This in my opinion is there greatest song! Has always been the song I got the most excited about when I first heard it. Epic and definitely homage to the Beatles in a flattering way!
Guys - there is also a whole new album of 13 songs (3 bonus tracks) called The Tipping Point which was released in February of this year - the hard core TFF fans have been blown away by the unique nature of every song - they are on tour in the US as I write this, and are performing the bulk of them live - the new music is unbelievably beautiful, upbeat, haunting, etc, and you owe it to yourselves to hear the mind blowing quality of their new work!
Guys, although I love Tears for Fears, there's another 80's band you could check: "Level 42". It's a British band. Suggestion: check songs like: "Running the Family", "Lying Stilll" or "Children Say" and also, "It's Over". ❤❤
One of the most complex pop songs ever, there's so much going on. Check out 'The Working Hour', you'll love it. The saxophone on that song is just amazing. It was never a single, but it's become a fan favourite.
I just saw Tears For Fears live in my hometown San Diego last Sunday. I saw them 40yrs ago when they toured on “Songs From The Big Chair.” I couldn’t believe how tight they were. They just released a new LP called “The Tipping Point.” Their first in 17yrs! It’s quite good…maybe you can check one out in the future. 🌻
If you want to understand the essence of Tears for Fears, you have to listen to their first album "the hurting", wich is basicaly a concept album about child abuse, trauma and depression, a masterpiece
The 90s Sgt. Pepper , such a great album. I was working at a Record Store in Vienna when this was released and after the first time listening to it i was like 'Meeh' , then i listened to it again a bit later the same day and it was like a positive punch into the face - to this day still on my Desert Island Discs Top 10 ;)
I was lucky enough to see Tears For Fears live last year and they bring so much energy. If you would like to dig a bit deeper into their work, then I recommend you try ‘I Believe’. It’s a very emotive song.
Hey guys…Steven Wilson recently mixed this in 5.1 and said the original stereo mix of The Seeds Of Love is so perfect…he didn’t want to touch it. My favorite song on the album is definitely Badman’s Song… I would love to see you react to that! It’s a special album for sure. Thx so much!
They do have an incredible album from 2004 called Everybody Loves a Happy Ending...any song off that album is great. Secret World Ladybird A couple of great songs from that album. Give that album a listen it's incredible.
One of the reasons i love this song is because it seems to have everything but the kitchen sink in it for sounds. I also LOVE the feel-good postitive vibes. ❤
I went to see them live at Wembley Stadium, such a fantastic feeling and buzz from the crowd, it was electric.....such great memories! In the lyrics there is a line "Kick out the Style bring back The Jam", this is a reference to The iconic band The Jam (who I got to know and love as they were my brother's fav band so I would listen to all his music too lol). The lead singer Paul Weller left the band and had a change in musical direction and formed a band called The Style Council (also a great band) and The Jam could not continue without him so they disbanded and many of their fans were sad about it. So there's a little back info on some of the lyrics!
I love this track so much. It's the best song the Beatles never wrote! Even the drum fills are very Ringo! I love the vocoder added to the vocal in parts. So many layers in this song. Best thing to come out of Bath, UK since the Romans founded the City. The Lyrics are so good! I'm surprised you didn't mention them? I spy tears in their eyes They look to the skies for some kind of divine intervention Food goes to waste So nice to eat, so nice to taste Politician granny with your high ideals (reference to Margret Thatcher) Have you no idea how the majority feels? So without love and a promised land We're fools to the rules of a government plan
Roland has the voice of an angel, and can sing for any Opera in America. "Woman in Chains" should be next. Too many others to mention. I have seen them Live a couple times and they are SO good.
Hello guys! Hey, check out “Year of the Knife” from the same album!! It’s very Proggy and musically complex! Simon Phillips plays drums on it and you’ll love it!!
Good call on the Beatlesesque feel to this song. I've loved (and played) it for years, and never noticed it, but you're absolutely right.. Great reaction! 🖤
Tears For Fears have been my favourite band since I first heard Mad World in 1982, I've been waiting for you to review another of their songs, your Woman In Chains review was awesome, I loved seeing how it almost brought you to tears. Their is a track on Seeds Of Love called Badman's Song, I'd love to watch both your faces if you review that, they take you to church on that one, and Oleta Adams shares vocals on it. I don't know if you are aware, TFF are a duo, both guys sing lead vocal, Roland who sings the two songs you have reviewed sings most, but Curt takes lead on songs like Mad World and Everybody Wants To Rule The World. I'd love you to review a Curt vocal, such as Advice For The Young At Heart, or Long Long Long Time which is my favourite track from their recently released new album The Tipping Point, it's a song that takes a couple of listens for it to grow, I'd also love to see you review the title track of the new album which both Roland and Curt sing together. The Tipping Point was written about the death of Roland's wife in 2017. Keep up the good work, you two are brilliant.
A great song from a brilliant album, you must do "Badman's song" with the amazing Oletta Adams sharing lead vocals & performing incredible jazz piano, IMO the best track on the album, cheers
Tears For Fears released their first album, The Hurting, in the early 80s. This was their 3rd album. They actually just released a new album in the last year ( really good ).
I bought this album when it was released and I bought the September 1989 edition of Q magazine that had an interview with Roland Orzabal. He said he was trying to capture the essence of the Beatles. Many of the sounds on this album were produced with the Korg M1 hich was the keybaord to have at the time. It also had the story of how he and Kurt met Oleta Adams when they walked into a piano bar where she was playing one evening. They were so impresed that they asked her if she wanted to sing on their upcoming album. This song's lyrics make references to British politics at the time refering to Margaret Thatcher. The line "Kick out the tyle, bring back the Jam" is refering to Paul Weller's bands The Jam and The style Council whereby the earlier The Jam had a rough edgy sound and the Style Council had mellowed and reflected the changes that were happening in Britain thoughout the 80s.
And since y’all are so familiar with most of their well known tracks, I’d HIGHLY recommend checking out their brand new single (first one in 17 years!!) called the Tipping Point, it’s brilliant and deserves a listen also!
this is definitely a Beatles sounding song and the cover is their Sgt. Pepper. The trumpet echoes the one in Penny Lane, the tumbling drums are something Ringo would play, and the lyrics express the spirit of the 1960's in a sincere and very musical way. I grew up in the 60s-70s, and this song moves me every time I hear it. This whole album is their masterpiece. You should listen to Year Of The Knife. It's great to see you hear all this great music of our times, be well and happy!
This became a favorite for me as soon as it was released, I was 9 or 10 and already loved The Beatles so it makes sense. That whole second half with the horns and "time to eat all your words" really is very Sgt Pepper, and the mini guitar solo leans into While My Guitar Gently Weeps at 10:55. Seem to occupy similar spaces to Lennon and McCartney vocally too, though Roland Orzabel has a bit lower register than either of them. Truly stunned I never noticed all of that, but I suppose it's one of those songs that kinda locks me into it and everything else fades out. Think I saw they just released some new music in the past month but haven't been over to check yet.
Hi guys, yes they got a lot of radio air play with their singles and appearances on Top Of The Pops here in England during the 80's. Only a few weeks ago they appeared on an early news programme called "Breakfast Tv" announcing their return with a new album plus tour after many years apart. It's good to hear this again. The Beatles Homage is intentional. This is such a good track ... love the nod to 'I am the Walrus' & 'Penny Lane'. Great reaction thankyou. Byeee ! Jim X ... By the way there are two vocalists always singing together or adding harmonies for each other.
Everybody wants to rule the World - Tears for fears at it's best. Love your vlogs, fantastic content. Keep smilin " I'm also a huge Steely Dan fan, seen them in Toronto in 2003 . They put a smile on my face too !!
my opinion, the decade of the 80's has the best music ever written.
the entire The Seeds of Love album is pretty much a homage of the Beetles (It was one of the most expensive albums at the time) the entire album has that “Wall of Sound” vibe (Its a impressive/amazing album) Tears for Fears is so criminally overlooked imo 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤👍👍👍

Badman’s Song is amazing!
Someone made that Beatles homage up
Have you heard that Tears for Fears has a new album out called "The Tipping Point"?
Yeah, it's quite good!
This track pays homage to the Beatles. Openingly admitted by Tears for Fears.
I want to say I knew it but that's crazy. Thank you so much for the info !!!
Maybe around Sergeant Pepper era
Sure, it has some "I Am the Walrus" and "Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band" vibes
Not at the time though haha
They said that during their “Big Chair” tour of America, they were actually introduced to a lot of music including, the Beach Boys, Gospel, and strange enough, the Beatles. This influenced their style for this album.
I just saw Tears For Fears in concert last week and they were awesome!! Their new album is very very good.
Both Roland and Curt have no problem admitting their Beatles influence.
Another great song from this album is “Advice for the young at heart”.

Total Beatles vibe, but still unmistakably Tears for Fears. A great song by them and as always, a great reaction from you two.

With you all the way Murdock my friend.
Awesome TFF again!!
Great band.... AND BACK TOGETHER AGAIN FOR A NEW ALBUM!!!
The song at the end of Donnie Darko, "Mad World", was also a Tears For Fears original (the Gary Jules version was the one played in the movie).
Just saw Tears for Tears in concert and they are amazing! Their new album is so so good!
Their first hit that so many cover now was "Mad World".

Yes!! Talk Talk is a must. The best of the 80’s. 🙌
My favorite song by them. A huge all enveloping sound.

Loving their new album The Tipping Point, especially Rivers of Mercy. They just have some magic together that is not yet tapped...
Rivers of Mercy is my favorite too. The whole album is a masterpiece - these guys are simply amazing lyricists and musicians.
Tears for fears are currently on tour in the US by the way, catch them if you can, great live show
Absolutely loved it! Great interaction between the two of you....loved it thank you so much 🤗
80s bands worth to listen : Talk Talk, Talking Heads, The Cure, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, New Order... a lot!
Love their new song Long Long Long Time. So beautiful.
Such an underrated musical gem!
A great song from a brilliant album, you must do "Badman's song" with the amazing Oletta Adams sharing lead vocals & performing incredible jazz piano, IMO the best track on the album, cheers
The heavy influence of The Beatles is so prevalent in this song and they did it so well. ☀️
Love this song. They were just here in Denver a few weeks ago and put on a great show!
I heard just yesterday from a girl I saw wearing a shirt of theirs! 😭
Que bueno traer a recuerdo bandas como estas ...gracias
The song that gave me chills back then by them and still does: "Head Over Heels" from Songs From the Big Chair. Oooooo.
Tears For Fears released their first album, The Hurting, in the early 80s. This was their 3rd album. They actually just released a new album in the last year ( really good ).
For me it's the solo and the breakdown at the end of it in Domination by Pantera that always makes me come back to that song.
Great track, great album. Saw them in the UK in 2019. Brilliant live. I believe their touring in the USA right now! Go see em!!
I did see them last week! Such a fun show!
this is definitely a Beatles sounding song and the cover is their Sgt.
This is great! I just saw them at the Levitt Pavilion in Denver on Memorial Day weekend, and they played this! They sounded great!
They are touring now. They sound the same even though they just hit age 60. Soo good.
Great song. Great band.
My favorite song of theirs followed closely by Shout and Mad World
Hi guys, yes they got a lot of radio air play with their singles and appearances on Top Of The Pops here in England during the 80's.
Great lyrics. Great song.
Everybody wants to rule the World - Tears for fears at it's best. Love your vlogs, fantastic content. Keep smilin " I'm also a huge Steely Dan fan, seen them in Toronto in 2003 . They put a smile on my face too !!
Reminds me of 'I AM The Walrus' Goo goo gah joob! 👍 Always thought their vocals were so strong
