I like to imagine there was one designer who was really mad about the general perception of parts-forming, and that the modular figures we've seen across the WFC trilogy are a direct result of that. The reality probably isn't so interesting but either way it worked and I'm gonna be quite disappointed if whatever comes after Kingdom doesn't have it's own equivalent.
@Nix91 4-29-21 Plus, the original G1 toys of the Weaponizers either a) had partsforming (Cog had the partsforming already in the form of his arms and Six-Gun was literally multiple bits and pieces), or b) didn't have a robot mode (Brunt).
The running gag in Emgo's reviews where he ends up going, "But it's parts fromi-- SHHHhhhhh, it's fine, it's FUN! it's fine" as another happy outcome from this gimmick as well.
Agreed. My personal ranking would probably go: Integrated Transforming and Onboard Accessory Storage>Integrated Transforming and Needing a Weapon's Locker>Some Parts Forming (see most of G1)>Strictly Parts Forming>Shell Formers
@Nix91 4-29-21 They might have done this in the past with Gaia Unicron, but he didn't really partsform to become armor. Most of it was done via hinges. So, it's either doing it the Gaia Unicron way or the Weaponizer, Modulator, or Fossilizer way.
Love all the skeleton puns... skelepuns? Yeah, everybody else on the planet has probably made that joke before. Darn it, I'm enough of a dinosaur geek to want all variations of the Fossilizers. I've just... not picked any up because I've been spending my money on the Maximals.
You could almost just pretend all these Fossilizer guys are their own separate toy line, they have so much going on and are so deliciously different from the standard Transformers fare. Funtastic review as always, your uploads always put a grin on my face.
Just three toys like some of the crappy cash-in toy lines of our youth. Somebody will have to design some minimalist card backs for the 'Osteotrons' or something.
I hadn't bought a Transformer since the 80s, and Siege Refracktor was my first dip back in. Here is what is great about the new toys - the old toys were takes on die cast models that ALSO changed into a robot. The focus was on getting the die cast car (or whatever) right first, THEN figuring out how to robot it up. These new toys are ACTION FIGURES. They pose like they did on the old box art with their feet all splayed out and foot forward greatness. All the articulation gives way to tons of alt modes the old toys would have if they were lucky and you could stretch your imagination. I mean Optimus truck cap with legs is a classic - but what else? Anyway - War for Cybertron. Love the toys, didn't watch the show, and Thew got me back into Transformers because he's awesome.
When the Fossilzers transform, I like to imagine they collapse in a pile of bones and then reform, like the skeletons in Castlevania, with the same sound FX. And I give Ractonite Scorponok's voice, and Paleotrex gets Terrorsaurs'. These things are fun.
I was expecting this toy to get a good RIBbing, but I'm happy to see the jokes ain't gonna' run BONE dry! An absolutely exSKULLent video! And I must say this little dude would be scary to see in real life, like something out of a FEMUR dream. Though I've no doubt he's an honest fellow, a real white collar bone worker.
I used a Masterdominus, Wingfinger, Ractonite, Spindle, and Transmutate (one of each mold) to make a truly godless abomination I've named Fossiliath. 8 legs, 2 shoulders, 4 forearms, 0 hands, and a truly nightmarish weapon tail made predominantly out of skulls
I want to like Ractonite. I really do. The weird inverted post hands just ruin it for me. Hasbro has been sneaking hands into non-hand objects for like 35 years, but they chose not to here, and I hate it.
This is probably my favourite fem-bot from WFC. I think it’s just my hatred for them all being so slim and stereotypically feminine so Ractonite being a little on the heavier side makes for a nice change.
Fossilizers are easily the most successful "new gimmick" Hasbro has ever introduced in Transformers What other kind of toy makes you want to own MORE of the same just cause of the silly combationes you can make? I've seen enough Paleotrex monsters that honestly makes me wish they do a whole line of this style of bone mechs
Strange that I found this figure on the same day that this video is posted. I like how you show both Ractonite and Triceradon together. Death mode and perma death mode! 💀🤣
Honestly I typically don’t comment on these reviews. But I just have to say, the way you review this bizarre transformer is amazing and entertaining. Plus you managed to almost convince me to get this transformers!
This is one of the most Thew episodes ever. Pure punnage and good times in a nice boney package. Also, Regarding Triceradon's dead mode. How many figures have a dead mode. not counting, like, those dead Optimus Primes. I mean figures that transform into a specific dead form. Got thinking about this when I got Movie Masterpiece Jazz a few weeks back.
I personally think this Fossilizers are just...bad. They're awkwardly proportioned, lanky, and too bizarre (and that's coming from someone who loves Transformers and the unusual figures). If these dudes looked a little more conventional (like, they don't need to be robots, just better proportioned and all that. I love the idea behind these dudes, but in reality there'd be no practicality if they're bone as opposed to the Weaponizers and Modulators who mesh better with the existing cast and seem more practical, the bone dudes only fit with the beast guys imo, and even then they can't be put with them. But hey, if you like these dudes, more power to you.
Goofy bot mode, an un-articulated alt mode, and no real transforming. Pretty crap. Sort of interesting accessory. I just find these dino-bone-bots a really odd part of the line, but if you like them, you win :-)
Mel Ribson , Pelvis Costello, Patella Fitzgerald, you're going to have trouble topping this if you review any of the other Fossilizers What a Jurassic Lark
Fuzor redesign should be the next Weaponizer line. Silverbolt Quickstrike Dino shark- Raptor/Trex, Great White Tiger hawk Two more? Maybe Torca and Bantor so we can make magnaboss in theory
Having just discovered you a week ago and promptly watched all (okay, most... okay, SOME) of your videos, it's really weird being "caught up" but I look forward to them more than just about anything else on the tubes. Wordplay is best part. Keep it up!
I was one of the naysayers when Fossilizers were announced, but now I love em👍🏻 so much so that I bought the Netflix mystery Megatron pack just to get Purple Paleotrex and have preordered the Transmutate and Tricranius 😁

After careful consideration, ‘Skelly Savalas’ takes the win in my book for best portmanteau.

Someone took the term “comboner” from Thew a bit too far with making the fosilizers... :/
When the Fossilzers transform, I like to imagine they collapse in a pile of bones and then reform, like the skeletons in Castlevania, with the same sound FX. And I give Ractonite Scorponok's voice, and Paleotrex gets Terrorsaurs'. These things are fun.
More like the dry bones in Mario tbh.
Or, "Thew Makes Puns About Skeletons for Eight Full Minutes".
You say that like it's a bad thing, I find them humerus!
I can't believe you went with "bonejour" but didn't follow it up with "meso amis" for a bone and dino double pun
At 6:13 Kup has never seen anything like this before, and yet it somehow feels exactly like where his life has been leading him.
Skelly Savalas. Bonan O'Brien. Hahahaha. So fast I nearly missed them.

YES I love all the skelly jokes =D
As a larper, I love your videos, as they inspire me to create new chaotic armour that at first glance chills you to the bone.
The WFC trilogy sure came and went, didn't it? It seems only yesterday that those fantastic spacey Seige knobheads were revealed.
Know how you feel. Even last time felt like I'd just barely started on combiner wars then power of the primes ended it all

That is a lot of articulation. Ain't no rigor mortis going on here.
I found the bone puns rather humerus, personally.
The only gripe i have is that he didn't use spooky scary skeletons for the transformation segment would have been a nice BONEus

Goofy bot mode, an un-articulated alt mode, and no real transforming. Pretty crap. Sort of interesting accessory. I just find these dino-bone-bots a really odd part of the line, but if you like them, you win :-)
