- Today I dive into my new (to me) truck - a 1989 F-150 that I plan on daily driving! Two gas tanks meant two times the fun, I think I can take gas tanks out in my sleep now.... This truck amazes me and is so fun to drive!

MY GREEN 78 HASN’T GONE ANYWHERE. I haven’t abandoned it, I’m not replacing it and it’s not for sale. I have an 89 that I work on and drive now too is all. That’s it. Booger truck isn’t leaving.
Thank you for not giving up on that beautiful truck. I love how you always buy high end model trucks. This truck being the XLT Lariat was top of the line in 1989. Can't wait for you to fix it up.
The radio should have brackets that mount with screws on the sides.
everyone needs more than one truck but i think you need a chevy next :P
Your link for the foundation is dead Mook. What the heck.
@@singlsrvngfrnd should be fixed now, thank you for telling me, I had no idea 😊
We all need a Mook in our lives.
She has got to name it fordhead
I second this opinion....
I'm still looking for a Mook in my life , no luck yet.

Totally. I love the bubbly fun personality.
This might be the first time I've ever hoped a video DOESN'T get a million views... 😂😂
Love it
Come on One Million! 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂
Everyone rewatch a few times xD
Hey junkyard digs you actually have to get a haircut we smashed the views
Mook, I really makes me smile to see you get so excited about breathing life back into these vehicles....I am really glad that you folks being so young are really into keeping the old vehicles alive...Happy Holidays to you both!
Like what you got going on. Been wrenching on Ford pickups since middle 70's. Re: power window motor that runs but won't lift under load. Usually easy to repair. Remove cover around output gear, you will find a semi planetary drive relies on 3 plastic rollers that likely are worn. Find 3 steel balls from old bearing, use to replace worn rollers. Repack with grease, Reassemble and install. Repair should outlast new China built window motor.
I've got my second phone playing this video over and over again. We're getting that million and we're going to watch Mook shave and dye your hair.
YES !
i think they said it had to be within a few months and its past that point. Itd still be awesome to see though!
You can only make a view on a video so many times per day
do you plan on watching it over 400k times? Cuz thats how off the views are plus its been a year too!
Loving the channel. So cool seeing a woman who gets excited getting and working on trucks. You guys are fun to watch together.
It's only been 4.5, maybe 5 days since this came out, and you're more than 20% of the way to 1M views. I'd say Kevin will be sporting a new do by month's end. Go Mook!!
I have a friend in China. I'll make sure that this video goes viral.
You'll look good in pink, Kevin.
Id totally pay some chinese kids 10 bucks for a bunch of views...
Isn't youtube banned in China tho lol
I see what you did there 👀😂
@@wildman510 vpn it works
She literally lifted that battery easier than Hoovie did yesterday 😂😂😂
Oof😂
🤣
😂
No surprise there he doesn’t work on cars
Farms girls are tough lol
It's not raining it's tears of joy that your working on another Ford.
Also, you got half of at to a million, Well done!
Im so glad y’all finally decided to do a bricknose. I love these trucks and the dont get as much love as they should
'I have a screwdriver and a multimeter let's see how much damage I can do' --I really need that on a t-shirt.😂
10:47 MAKIN MY WAY DOWNTOWN, TRUCK IN TOW, MOVIN SLOW IN A DIESEL! 🤣 Kevin needs to sing more
My favorite thing is when the JYD logo pops up and Mook splats down over Digs 🤣
Well the registration explains why this truck is so clean! TEXAS!!
24:44 "What am I looking for here?" "I dunno, maybe a brain, hopefully" - savage. Love it. Mook, you're one of a kind..
Here comes 1 hour of my life where I won't do any work. Thank you Mook!
Hey where did you find your profile picture? Just wondering since I REALLY love it?
I just did this on an 88 F-150 a few months ago. Both lift pumps, new selector valve (Ford should be shot between the eyes for that little gem) and a high pressure pump and now I get the flammable liquids to the fuel rail. Its magic I tell ya!
Kevin, it takes a real man to do that my son and oldest daughter dyed mine purple! You guys are awesome even my 12 y/o son loves watching you guys with me!
I just got a 1982 F150 XL today 1 owner 76K original miles been sitting for 8 years. So cool to see you going through the same things with the same truck lol!!
Will we get a video on it? And is it from copart?
The 82-86 are my absolute favorite Ford trucks. What a score!
Randy! Helloooo
Oh, hey, it's AAR. Can't wait to see that vid.
looking forward to watching it randy
Mook's constant amazement that the 89 has been maintained is funny.
That Ford will outlive most other pickups and cars from that era. It's a keeper!
Man I love this truck! Great find. Im glad to see Mook doing so well on her channel! Rock on you two!
I like your Vise grip garage hat. I am sure Derick will like the support.
Wow the Mookanic is back with a vengeance. Usual barrel of laughs that makes for a great show. Great to see you back Mook. long may it continue.
Oh man! The hanging by wires stoplights! Brings me back...
Love the truck! I had to replace my fuel pump in my truck and I found it was so much easier to pull the bed off.
Good tip.
Much easier.
I cut an access in the bed.
"I would see myself out, but my truck doesn't run." Hahahha I'm howling!! 🤣
I think that its so awesome that you work on vehicles! There's just not that many girls that want to work on vehicles in today's society. Kevin is definitely so lucky to have you in his life. God bless you and keep up the wonderful work! Thanks for the videos.🙂
I see two Texas stickers in the windshield, an older inspection sticker and a 2013 license renewal. Also a Waxahachie, TX Ford dealer emblem on the back...... Maybe that's why it doesn't have the usual Iowa rust? Nice. If you can keep it out of the salt it'll stay that way!
Texas A&M University on rear window too. Perhaps an ag major returning to the motherland. Gig 'em Ags!
This brings back some memories. Dad's first brand new truck was an '89 F-150 Supercab XLT Lariat with that brothel red interior, though his had the captain's chairs with floor console. In high school, I had a '91 Supercab with a gray interior and the bench seat. This truck reminds me of both.
It's cool to be able to see a bunch of stuff up close on one of these because it help me affirm my memory isn't complete garbage yet. It's been almost 20 years since I sold my '91, but I seem to remember a lot of stuff about these old Ferds.
I nearly died when you forgot to hook up the connections with this tank right after the struggle. You guys are funny!!🤣
I've done that exact same thing before and I yelled at my screen just before he said they forgot to hook up the wires and hoses.
But I had 2 full tanks of gas to do that work.
Very heavy for one skinny guy to handle.
That's a clean truck. I think that is one of the best dashes ford ever made
For sure. And then they immediately ruined it the next generation lol
13:25 I love how pleasantly-agreeable and understandingly-tolerant Kevin acts here, where he cheerfully allows Mook to look at the book again, even though she'd already seen it sometime before. :D
those trucks make me nostalgic my family had a bunch of them from 84 to 96 always worked well and worked hard good video
Time to let the video run on repeat for the next two months 😆
Lay in bed after a long day and there's an HOUR long junkyard Mook video, I could not be happier.
It's honestly better than anything on TV/Cable/Satellite.
I just sat down myself. Found a cold snack and an hour long Mook. I dont care how bad of a day I had, it just got better. 😉
GOOD for you girl ! Nice truck , nice rescue . Very enjoyable watch . Get that Million
You guys are so awesome. You're doing so much by working on all this old crap - complete turnaround from most folks just jumping from one brand new thing to the next.
Thanks for the videos and inspiration.
I love the relationship you two have! Your content is always entertaining to watch!
Hey, the backlight on those headunits is just a $2 bulb that takes 5 minutes to get to. I just did two of them a couple months ago. Also, definitely pull the bed off to do tank work. its waaaaayyy easier than dropping them.
They have a 2 post lift. I’d say lifting the truck up and dropping the tank would be easier
@@garageofscrap youd think that, but at least on my truck, the rear tank was on top of the hitch brace and the skid plate, and all the fuel lines and wires are routed over the top of the frame channels. Ive done it both ways, bed is way easier.
@@TheOneTrueHeavy took both tanks out of mine. Worst 30 minutes of my life. Remove the bed. Lol.
My wife and I started watching you guys last month. We both really get a kick out your videos.
Nice work great to see you revive an old truck. Love your videos you two are down to earth and very real.
Very nice! If I had a dollar for every time an OBS Ford left me walking I could buy another OBS Ford...
Your a rare then Those are stout trucks never heard if anyone having an issue
Wow really? I have two and they are the single most reliable vehicles I've ever had, at 27 years old nonetheless
I grew up with many friends having these and they had zero issues and they beat the CRAP out of them.
@@armedpreacher my f150 has NOT lived an easy life, at 372,000 km it still goes like new, thats about 230k miles for all you American folk 😁
@@armedpreacher literally don't make me that good anymore
Always good to see Dad in the shop. A wealth of knowledge.
I think it’s funny how you call everything “Heckers”!
My wife’s late aunt & late uncle’s last name was Hecker! They used to travel around in a bus and sing at churches. They lived in Northern Minnesota. They’re both gone as of last year, but there are still some cousins around the twin cities and in Wisconsin left.
Hi mook love the way you and Kevin bring these old cars and trucks back to life like junk yard digs a lot keep it up
I will literally put this video on repeat and watch it constantly until Kevin is bald.
Wow 😂
I got 92 Ford with the 300 six cylinder it just runs it out lasted 2 chevys
Samsies one vet to another
Hell ive watch about 9 times now....lol
Actually i dont think it counts you multiple times anyway....
The light in those radios can be fixed, there's a tiny lightbulb in it that can be replaced. I fixed the radio in my 90 last summer.
They might just need to re-flow some solder joints. Ronald Finger fixed his radio on the Fiero by doing this.
@@Laugh1ngboy Maybe but these Ford radios commonly burn the bulbs out. It is worth pulling apart and fixing. The aftermarket radios always look horrible in my opinion.
@@ekd1985 I agree sadly most of the cars Ive owned start with out a radio in them.
That Red interior is just… beautiful.. ❤ I think that comes in the Lariat !!! Needs tiny bit of cleaning. 😊
Go Mook.. ❤️💕
A woman who works on vehicles. A woman who drives Trucks she works on herself. Street Smarts. Way to go. Signed up for this channel. I had an 1988 XLT duel tank and replaced the brakes with a friend. Great accomplishment to do it. It just took 3 days but it worked after all.
I had the exact same truck but mine was blue. I got rid of the dual tank system then replaced it with a single 32 gallon tank from an 86 Bronco.
Wow. That thing is beautiful. My first vehicle was a 89 f150 supercab just like that with a straight 6. Miss it every day. I will never forget doing peels out of the high school parking lot!
I loved my 90 f150, which was also an xlt lariat. I sold it probably 8 years ago and I still see it driving around town. Mine had way more rust though! That thing was reliable and I abused that sucker!
I grew up riding in the back seat of one of those. I still miss that truck to this day and want to do a build on one :D
The happiest human I've seen lately is Mook with a new pick-um-up truck.😏
For it's age, that truck almost immaculate, very nice.
Mook, I really enjoyed this episode, thank you for this content.
Wanted to give yall props on fixing the dual tank system and making it proper again.
Love that truck. I had a '95 that was the best and most reliable vehicle ever. I'd still be driving it but it was murdered by New England road salt.
Those late 80's early 90's ford trucks will run forever for not much money. I've owned two over the years, an 89 with a 5.0 and a 95 with a 4.9. The 4.9 inline 6 is God tier indestructible.
I love seeing Mook that happy when it runs!
Picked up an 88 f150 last night. Cant wait to tear into it. Rewatching this gem because yall are awesome
Thank you for sharing your revival experiences!!
1:04:40 that sneeze scream reenactment was too good lmfao
Awesome video! I just also revived an 89 f150 with the 302 abandoned in the woods behind my job! Fuel pressure regulator, TPS sensor, cap, rotor and some fresh gas and she fired right up.
Love watching you both goof off, teach me stuff, and laugh! Great content and really enjoy watching you guys fix ish! Keep on keepin on!
Y.O.U. so nailed it !
What a beautiful going-to-town truck! All the deluxes and that all red interior.
Mook, Extreme cuteness runs deep in this one i feel.....
For a pickup that's over three decades old, she's clean and straight. She's a keeper for sure.
Thought the same thing she's not in to bad a shape almost to good for this channel?
Don’t talk about nook like that
Watching you guys is a joy, it's always exciting to see a new video has been posted.
I have a '88 f-150, I've had since 1989. Rebuilt the engine over 20 years ago (302). I can't begin to tell you how much stuff I've hauled in this truck over the years. Congrats, on you new daily driver.
You’ll get at least 8 - 10 views out of me alone, Mook. Just doing my part to see Kevin’s head freshly shaved. 🤪
And dyed pink...
Hopefully fluorescent pink...
You should make him let you dye his pubs.

@@byronpayne4556 I don't think there's a single soul alive that wants to see that....
Especially RUclips. **Yuck**
I don't know if I ever noticed the big forehead Ford font but now I'm looking for it intensely
You really can't unsee it now...
You're welcome 😂
Yup... My truck's now permanently ruined.
I love the fact that you too have so much fun working together! The cutest couple ever
Nice job!
I was in high school when this truck was new. My dad had one just like it, but green where yours is red. It was a great truck.
It’s a Texas truck (based on the dealer tag on the tailgate). Just down the road from where I live.
“And it’s name was, Quadrajet!!” Ahhhhhhhhhhh! 🤙🤙😂😂
One easy thing to maintain that makes a difference on power and fuel mileage is the distributer cap and rotor. Also it's a good idea sometimes to change the coil wire because sometimes that will cause issues with the module in the distributer. The radio just needs the light bulb behind the faceplate changed.
Thought Lariat meant leather interior, 🤷♂️ My dad had a 89 Bronco with a 302. It was a good truck! Used a couple quarts between oil changes but had a 8 quart or bigger oil pan. Never bought one without a trailer package on it
These videos are very wholesome, you and Kevin have great personalities! Y'all got yourselves a new fan/subscriber!
Mook missed the perfect opportunity to crawl through the sliding rear window to check the fuses.
as an o' reilly employee i'm so happy to hear you're rocking our precision fuel pumps, that offer a limited lifetime warranty!
wait , how is a lifetime warrenty limited..
@@chriskwakernaat2328 some things aren't covered, probably won't cover non gas liquids
Until you try and collect on the warranty and get refused for whatever excuse the dimwhit behind the counter comes up with.
I love this video! I had a 1987 f150 xlt lariat and a 1990 exactly like yours. Wish I still had them but since I live up north in Canada I needed a 4WD truck instead. Hope to have another some day, I love the interior's

1:03:37 This was my favourite clip from the whole episode. I love those exterior shots of the freshly revived vehicle driving again.
That is a “Going to Town” rig, fer sure👍😁!
Nice job Mook you are such great pair and I love both of your humor and honesty, Kevin so amazed at your skills and Mook you are just too funny for words love it and the show to bits. Keep it up.
The cap your wearing when your fixing your breaks shows me your a fan of VGG! That is so awesome and you are to I’m now subscribed to your channel thank you for such great content! Keep it coming
This truck is a real gift from the heavens. Nicest score in the Junkyard Mook/Digs video series to date!
Yay!!! I love these trucks! Sooo happy to see this one's going to be a solid daily driver. Good job on the fuel system guys, that was awesome! I did a learn.
I was 4 when this truck came out, I would be proud to own it today. We had a 1982 extended cab growing up and I was able to drive that "unit" all over during my 16-17 year old days.
Great looking truck, all it needs is a leveling kit and a little polishing. Going to town rig for sure.
Not gonna lie, it makes me feel really old watching someone doing a revival of a truck that was new when I was in the 9th grade.
i was 20 lol. so old now. vehicles and many other things have become surrealistically shockingly ugly in the mean time
9th grade? It was new when I already had 9 years in the Navy.
Got you all beat. I was 31 in 1989.
I was 9 years old in 1989 and I'm 41 now .. Damn you guys are OLD!! LOL
