I think you would like illicit affairs more if you watched it on the eras tour, she does it with more fire in her belly ! To me its like a whole different song
Personally, I've never been able to get into Betty either lol also, hoax used to be a skip for me but randomly I listened to it a few months ago and the lyrics took on a new meaning... it suddenly stirred something deep within me and now I love the song. What you say about music is so true. Really excited for the rest of your journey!
Absolutely the same for me on Hoax! I skipped for the longest time to get to The Lakes, but especially the Long Pond version has crept into my heart 😊 Cardigan's bridge is the only one of the 3 triangle love songs that I will go to bat for 😬 that bridge just kills me it's sooooo good.
I feel like that is true of so many of Taylor’s songs. There are songs I’ve never connected to but will randomly hear it and it hits different that day and now I’m obsessed
the thing about taylor's music is: they grow on you. this happened a lot with her new album. lyrically it is one of the best, along with folklore. but people had to sit with the album to understand its greatness. in the first few days the reviews were harsh, but the amount of positive reviews it received after a whole week has passed was enormous. so keep that in mind when you listen to it, it's a contemplative album and it's impossible to judge it at first listen
I really respect a react channel when they have different opinions, and they arent afraid to say they like/dont like a song, can u react to her miss americana movie?
I’m in awe of people who can rank her albums. I have a love affair with each song for different reasons and each one speaks to me differently depending on what’s happening in my life. Solid ranking though! I’m so glad when people give her a real chance and are nuanced enough to understand the subtleties in the stories as well as how the music itself enhances each track. Glad to have you on board queen, looking forward to more reactions from you. I would recommend waiting to listen to TTPD after a few albums because it will make sense given the context of the other albums. It’s pretty heavy and revisits several of these stories so waiting a little to listen to that album makes sense.
You have to see the Eras Tour, specially Folklore set, its just superior melodically, I know for sure you will love the arrangment for My Tears Ricochet, oh girl!
I was so surprised when you mentioned that you went and listened to the long pond sessions, and the little notes??? omg not only did you have great takes but also the dedication what? It's so admirable tbh
Great breakdown of the album! So happy you’re loving some Taylor Swift! The correction of pod to pond made me chuckle. Looking forward to more reactions!
Your skips being the same as mine lol. But I can't agree about seven, I LOVE this song so much, especially because I also had a dad who was always mad, so I always cry with this one
Loved your reaction video for this album and how much of a deep dive you're doing on everything! We have a very similar top 5. Mine in order is Last Great American Dynasty, Peace, The Lakes, My Tears Ricochet, and This is Me Trying.
Folklore is my favorite of her albums and my favorite tracks have always been Peace, This Is Me Trying, and Epiphany (not necessarily in that order). Those songs get so slept on so it really made me happy to see someone else rave about how good they are and love them like I do 😄
Would love to see you react to some of her live performances. She is really amazing when she performs and can't wait to see you delve into more of her music.
The Last Great American Dynasty is grower for sure. I love it. You might have the same reaction to TTPD album (both albums). But that is what is great. It isn’t a one and done. Several early reviewers of TTPD have recanted their early reviews and said after several listens they discovered how great this album really is. It is a LOT of music to digest at one sitting the first time, especially when you have a master lyricist as Taylor. When I first listened I tried the whole thing and while I could tell I was loving the Anthology more I realized I was no longer really listening and absorbing her words but getting caught up in Aaron’s instrumentals which are gorgeous. To really absorb it, it took several listens. That is really art.
Folklore made me a Taylor Swift fan for life. I was just a casual listener before this album. My favorites are: Cardigan, Peace, Mirrorball, My Tears Ricochet, and Hoax. The Lakes, which is a bonus track is also amazing.
Love this kind of videos ! Trust me the ranking always change, my favorites on this album change everytime haha but right now I would say 1. Hoax 2. The lakes 3. Epiphany 4. Cardigan 5. Exile So excited for your reaction of evermore !
I am SO looking forward to you doing Evermore! It probably still my favourite album of hers. I mostly agree/overlap with your ranking. However, for me, Cardigan is the one of the love triangle I enjoy the most... Because of that fking BRIDGE 😍😍😍 It just pulls me in every single time. August and Betty are cute, but just not where I was in my life then or now. Cardigan works for me because the song is from an older person's perspective. But yeah, all 3 are good but not great. Musically, I prefer both Illicit Affairs and Seven especially to Invisible String. They just both have a more emotional impact on me. And I'd probably place Mad Woman over Invisible String too. My perfect song tier looks almost identical to yours, just 2 or 3 place differences. I also deeply, deeply love The Lakes. Please don't forget the two bonus tracks on Evermore. I've come to understand from Taylor's work that bonus tracks are intentional. And I think those two are even better than one or two on the standard edition 🥰
You are so intelligent and I love how you update in your comments when you change your mind about a song. I think I’m in love with you. So rare to see someone active in their comments
TTPD is really only now, a month after release, getting its flowers. I’m excited for you to hear it, but even more excited for your rankings after you’ve digested it and give it a few relistens.
This Is Me Trying will always be the top for me on this album. It has no anger or animosity and rather only a request for grace from someone else. As someone who is very driven and has an immense fear of failure, that track hits me at my core. I am someone who was so ahead of the curve that I managed to loop all the way back around and somehow ended up “behind”. The “ahead of the curve” line also reminds me that life is not a direct path. Things are messy and just because society tells me I should be in a different place doesn’t mean I’m behind. There is no straightforward trajectory or timeline for life. You must take it as it comes. It has been difficult at times for me to communicate my own efforts without tangible results to other people so I really love the notion of this song.
Loved both your reaction and this commentary/ranking. I don’t agree on everything (but then again everyone is entitled to their own opinion/taste) BUT I think you should listen to the Eras Tour live version of August/Illicit Affairs (she transitions from the first one to the bridge of Illicit Affairs) and it hits so much more! Also can’t wait to eventually see the Evermore reaction :))
Love your reaction and ranking, even though it’s quite different to my personal ranking. I think when you get into the rest of the albums it’s important to note the different kinds of songs she writes. The glitter gel pen songs are poppy and sparkly and fun and often not meant to be taken too seriously! Then she has quill songs which are very deep and poetic and fountain pen songs which are very emotional (I think I’ve got those the right way round!) just to be aware so you don’t dismiss the glitter pen songs - good example Of one of those is shake it off which gets a bad rap but is actually an incredible pop song ❤
I'm looking forward to watching your journey. Folklore was what started my swiftie journey so you will probably follow a similar order as what i did. While Folklore still remains my most favourite album, there are sooooo many amazing songs on all the other albums. The only albums I struggled to get into were her earliest stuff, not because I didn't like it but maybe because I feel too old for it now 😅
My top 5 at the moment would be The 1 August The last great American dynasty Exile Betty When i first heard the album, betty and august were my two favs but now the 1 has really grown on me.
Finally someone who agrees with me about betty. I tried and i tried and I just can't get into it. I can't get through it since the first time i listened to it. It's really written like a 16 year old boy trying to get his girlfriend back and it sounds clunky and i just don't care about his POV. Illicit affairs is great though (once you realize it's not condoning an affair but about condemning the allure of one)... i mean the line "a dwindling mercurial high" is such a fantastic string of words.
Wow so real with this is me trying, tbh my ranking is kinda off because for me : 1. august 2. this is me trying 3. cardigan . I'm still not sure between august and this is me trying because sometimes this is me trying is my #1 but most times august is my #1 because it reminded me so much of back then when i was stupid and foolish and gave all of me to a boy

I also LOVE The Last Great American Dynasty and I am very sure it's that driving rhythm that keeps me drawn to it over and over. I have the same feelings for the Long Pond version of Mirrorball. Ha! I was watching your Folklore reaction and this popped up! Welcome to SwiftieVille. ❤
Actually it's a bad choice to start with Taylor 's worst album, she should listen to Midnights, way better than Folklore
