I knew the helicopter pilot, Robert Ginty, when I was a teenager in Brooklyn. He was a friend of my boyfriend at the time. A bunch of us used to hang together and Bobby would always talk about going to Hollywood and being a movie actor. We all used to roll our eyes. He even had his own network TV show, Hawaiian Heat. He died way too young. RIP Bobby ♥️
This movie made quite a hit in my country back then. The iconic American products (bike brand and the cigarette) and the fact that Gun's and Roses are big here means people actually willing to watch this movie. Heck, GnR still have fanatic following here.
As a guy who wrestled in the indys for a decade, and has studied a lot of wrestling, I can tell you how Mickey lifted Big John Studd. Big John posted his hand on Rourkes lower back/hips so he could stiffen himself like a board. All Rourke had to do was square up his hips and plant his feet. I've lifted guys way larger than me using this kind of leverage. The more you know. Ps. Another great vid!
White Widdow Oh, you're such a butt. Google "Bartels Harley Davidson Mickey Rourke", also check out Bartels Harley Davidson's website, Bill is the curly haired fellow. His wife, my great aunt, goes by "Harley Vette" on facebook; her profile pic is her and my uncle Bill. If you image search Rourke's jacket, his top right-hand patch says "Bartels H-D". They even used to sell replicas of his jacket at the dealership. My uncles team crafted all of Rourke's bikes for the film. Bill also has a racing team, google "bartels racing team", he's listed as one of the drivers there.
You mean "meet"? I'm not sure, I assume so. He's worked with a lot of celebrities, being in L.A. and all. www.bartelsharley.com/photo-motorcycle-harley--photo-gallery
Holy freaking crap, Daniel Baldwin, Tom Sizemore, Mickey Rourke, and Don Johnson? This is a B-movie dream team, I've gotta watch this movie again. It's been over 20 years since I saw it all the way through.
B-Team only after all fell from the graces of being A-List celebrities at one time during their career, but there are plenty of actual B-List actors to found over. Find them, it is worth the effort.
This is a cool movie. I used to watch it a lot when I was a kid. The idea of a modern cowboy movie was new to me at the time. My dad loved westerns and we watched a lot of em.
Thank you. Always loved this movie. Never realized same director as Lonesome Dove, my favorite movie. (It is a long movie not a TV show). Funny. Saw "Harley and Marlboro" first time after graduating from Ranger R.I.P., with group of buddies at rec- center. Small tv, with ten guys crowded around. Saw Lonesome Dove first time on tiny (7 inch screen) black & white tv, in the barracks between Pre-Ranger and Ranger school. Thanksgiving meant a long weekend before leaving Regiment for Darby camp. Both movies lock important moments in my life. Glad for your last comments about Harley & Marlboro being about friendship and loyalty. I think both movies are at their cores about these two qualities. Also, living by a code. I loved this movie, even with its cheesiness. It could have been better, but it means so much to me. Going through strenuous schools in military can feel very lonely, even when surrounded by friends. In the end you make it or don't on your own. Still, comradery is what keeps your motivation up, and your spirits high. Simply said, I really enjoyed this episode, it brought an old guy (45) found memories of shitty times with amazing friends. Thank you.
If I remember correctly, they forget about the bar because everyone else got killed, and they spent the money bribing the helicopter pilot. God I enjoyed this film back in the day... I haven't seen it in 20 years.
The bar was important as long as there was the old gang in it to keep its magic alive and make it 'home'...as soon as all their friends were dead (due to their unbelievable asshole-ness of going directly back to it with the loot) it was no longer important...
I remember randomly seeing this at the dollar theater with my best bud in 1992. We were both tripped out how good it was and we'd heard nothing about it.
Even though this movie came out in August '91 ("Summer's last blast!") I think of it as "the last 80's movie". It feels like the end of an era. Might've done better if it came out '88-'89.
Im so sad that this movie bombed. Its a freakin classic IMO & Im so mad that the poor box office really hurt Don Johnson's chance at a movie career. The dude freakin oozes charisma.
I had NO IDEA that this movie took place in the “future”, or was kind of “sci fi”- I’m not an imbecile, I just never saw it. Never wanted to, either. Until now. Thanks, Cecil!!!
It doesn't feel like it's set in the future until the guys in the trenchcoats arrive. If they had put them in suits it could have been set in the late 80s.
"The secret 'fight club' section." 😂 This was one of those movies you rented from the video store only because you've seen everything else, and you ended up pleasantly surprised. Undoubtedly cheesy but it somehow works.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane one of my favorite movies don't care what the critics or people didn't go to see I enjoyed the hell out of this movie
This is actually a family favorite movie! My dad, my aunt and uncle, and me love this film so I've seen it a few dozen times growing up! I really want to get this on DVD someday! i remember when Sin City was being made and I looked up who was going to play Marv in it and was shocked it was the same guy that play Harley in this movie. And about how much of an ass he was that some one was quoted as calling him "a human ashtray"!
I remember really liking the film and being surprised. So The Crew get together, stage a robbery and get away. Oh then almost immediately all them are killed after getting to safety. The henchmen with bulletproof tenchcoats and those cool foreign assault rifles (Steyre AUGs) made them seem like super soldiers.
completely underrated Cheese fest that I loved growing up with, I cant walk past a pool table without thinking of the 5 Rules my daddy taught me, before he left this shitty world
This is the greatest movie that did absolutely nothing but it should have. This was a great cast. Don Johnson was at the prime of his career from Miami Vice and Mickey Rourke was a great movie actor with an impressive resume. I really think timing of its release killed this movie.
Funny, when I saw The Matrix in the cinema for the first time, the helicopter scene immediately made me think of Harley Davidson and the Marlborough Man. It's such an obvious "inspired by" moment!
Yup, nothing in Film Making is original. Not even the "ground breaking" movies such as the Matrix. We have kids and adults running around that think Tolkien invented the fantasy genre.
Some clips of this are so cool. It reminds me of my best bud and I. Since it came out, I've watched it twice. Each time I just can't believe how bad it sucks. The end scene is it's only redeeming quality, if you're blasted by that point. DO NOT WATCH SOBER!!!!!!!!
If you were a kid during this time then yes, yes they were. We also rode bicycles without helmets, went to school without "safe zones" and even were outside until the street lights came on. Being at home playing video games during sunlight was not in your mind, socializing and playing sports with your friends were.
***** Funny, I was thinking of that game while viewing this review, especially the scenes with the armored car being pulled over and the helicopter shooting up the office building.
***** Funny, I was thinking of that game while viewing this review, especially the scenes with the armored car being pulled over and the helicopter shooting up the office building.
l loved this movie, my best friend & I quoted it all the time. You said it may have influenced The Matrix, Liquid Dream may have influenced Walter White's finest product
bloody hell Micky rook and don Johnson starring in a film together, which i didn't know about until now, good review as always look forward to the next one
Yes, I love this flick. Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson killed it in this film. Harley and Marlboro made the pool in impossible fashion... Amazing. The ONLY reason Vanessa Williams could sing in THAT club was bc the old man was her dad/grandad/?. Wasn't Robert Ginty the Executioner aka big screen's first Punisher? Lol.
Done and done. You heard through Erase/Rewind? That's great, I had a lot of fun chatting up old movies and video stores. Thanks! Its good to know that its working. There is enough angry reviewers out there, I felt the "bad" movies needed a voice in the other direction. Split/Second is great. I was always bummed they never made a sequel. There was so much chemistry there. Yes! You have no idea how difficult that special was lol. :)
Hey I never saw THIS intro before. That's neat to see how you transitioned from one of your other intros to this then the one you use now. Cool! Just felt like mentioning. :)
Thanks for reviewing one of my all time favs as a kid! Just bought it on blue ray outta the bin, in Walmart. Keep up the good work! Btw I liked and subbed your channel too 😎
I actually saw this in a theatre when it was released, and somehow I missed the correlation between the rooftop jump into the pool and the cliff jump in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Two things about this movie have always stuck with me: the stereotypical "hero stops a robbery at the beginning just to demonstrate how much of a bad hombre he is" and Tom Sizemore's "No, Alexander."
With reference to 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid', they even replicate a line from that movie, after the robbery. "whatever those guys are selling I don't want any of it", (I don't know if that's exactly right but you get the idea)
I like how the agent have Steyr AUGs that have one of the best assault rifle that with 1.5× telescopic sight and is one of the best stock sight in the business, but the agents shoot from the hip, no wonder they suck at shooting.

Ps. Another great vid!
If you look closely enough you can see exactly what you described done by Mickey and John.
Still impressive though.
The characters / actors got along so well in this movie, it's almost like you are watching a sequel to a movie that was never made!
Now that would be a interesting prequel if done right and not just for a quick cash grab.
My great uncle, Bill Bartels, supplied all the motorcycles in this film, his Harley patches appear on Rourke's jacket.
Thats cool as hell.
White Widdow

Steve Jonas
Rourke and Don Johnson were A-list but Daniel Baldwin?
Absolute corker of a film. Loved it when i first watched it, and still do. It's in my all time top 10. An 80's flick done in the 90's.
That Syndicate reference is genius XD
This is a cool movie. I used to watch it a lot when I was a kid. The idea of a modern cowboy movie was new to me at the time. My dad loved westerns and we watched a lot of em.
I love Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man
It’s definitely one of my favorite action westerns
He said THAT'S IT for independence day 96 as the clock strikes 12:00 on July 5.
This film is one of my top 5 guilty pleasure films.
I remember seeing this movie in the cinema, and I think I rented it a couple of times as well. Definitely one of my early 90`s favorites!
What a film, the opening to this alone makes this movie worth watching.
Loved that Syndicate reference.
Made me feel happy and it's always nice that people remember old school gaming history.
😊
One of my favority movies of all times, since the first time I saw it back in 1993 on video, I was 10. I see this movie at least once a year.
I absolutely love this movie. Probably one of my favorite movies I own and still watch. Although the DVD is getting a bit rough.
Thanks! I snuck that in there with the hopes that people would pick up on it. Syndicate is one of my favorite classic games
R.I.P. Tom Sizemore.
Thank you. Always loved this movie. Never realized same director as Lonesome Dove, my favorite movie. (It is a long movie not a TV show). Funny. Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man is soooooooo cool.
The Syndicate reference was well done
JohahnDiechter thanks!
Loved that game.
Man the casting of this flick is epic!
I'd hate to be the guy that had to tell Tom Sizemore someone stole all his drugs.
That's something you usually figure out yourself...
Love the syndicate music and samples.
the syndicate "persuasion" cracked me up
The bar was important as long as there was the old gang in it to keep its magic alive and make it 'home'...as soon as all their friends were dead (due to their unbelievable asshole-ness of going directly back to it with the loot) it was no longer important...
I remember randomly seeing this at the dollar theater with my best bud in 1992. We were both tripped out how good it was and we'd heard nothing about it.

Im so sad that this movie bombed. Its a freakin classic IMO & Im so mad that the poor box office really hurt Don Johnson's chance at a movie career. The dude freakin oozes charisma.
Ben Davis Agreed! Thankfully the movie has since found its audience.
The major mistake was the Matrix future cops. Was there any reason whatsoever to not just make this in the current era?
The thing about Don Johnson is, he played Sonny too well and he was typecasted forever
The movie is truly rediculous and completely illogical. Good chemistry between the leads though.
Absolutely LOVE the use of Syndicate music and sound effects in this
I had NO IDEA that this movie took place in the “future”, or was kind of “sci fi”- I’m not an imbecile, I just never saw it. Never wanted to, either. Until now. Thanks, Cecil!!!

I stumbled onto your channel this morning I called in to work sick and 4 hours later Im still here watching your video thanks!
"The secret 'fight club' section." 😂 This was one of those movies you rented from the video store only because you've seen everything else, and you ended up pleasantly surprised. Undoubtedly cheesy but it somehow works.
1:28 Couldn't agree more. Excellent review on a classic
Thanks for the walk down memory lane one of my favorite movies don't care what the critics or people didn't go to see I enjoyed the hell out of this movie
This sounded like it should be a spoof comedy but they played it straight and it worked for some unknown reason. really strange movie.
Die Hard V happened......unfortunately....
Viktor Zdirkó I was just thinking that myself!
Live Free or Die Hard and A Good Day to Die Hard are a thing, it can't be denied no matter how you look at it.
Die hard 4 was ok, 5 was absolutely garbage
My friend and I saw this in the theater and had a great time.
Dat Syndicate reference...

I know, I totally blew the footage of Ginty. It was late and I was in a hurry and just got mixed up.
I nearly didn't recognize Mickey Rourke in this movie, I thought it was Bruce Willis all through the movie.
BearCat くまネコ same lol Bruce Willis 🤗
me too bro
My bro and I still use quotes from this movie every now and then
Same here.
I remember really liking the film and being surprised.
So The Crew get together, stage a robbery and get away. Oh then almost immediately all them are killed after getting to safety.

love this movie its the reason i love Harley Davidsons to this day
completely underrated Cheese fest that I loved growing up with, I cant walk past a pool table without thinking of the 5 Rules my daddy taught me, before he left this shitty world
A personal favorite, thanks for giving it some love.
Absolutely awesome use of Syndicates music and sounds!

Thanks! Yeah, the whole thing is worth it
I was just watching this last night!!! I love this movie. Classic.
Hey I wanted to say thank you for turning me on to this film. This film kicks ass and it's a shame it wasn't a hit.
Funny, when I saw The Matrix in the cinema for the first time, the helicopter scene immediately made me think of Harley Davidson and the Marlborough Man. It's such an obvious "inspired by" moment!
Thanks! The studio kind of buried it after it had a less than stellar opening weekend. A shame, because it is a great action flick
I loved this movie when it came out. Sad it bombed.
"My vagina." "It's down there." :) lol
Glad you made the Matrix reference.
Yup, nothing in Film Making is original. Not even the "ground breaking" movies such as the Matrix. We have kids and adults running around that think Tolkien invented the fantasy genre.
One of my favourite movies
4:19 that "Good shooting!" pop up LMFAO XD
Some clips of this are so cool. It reminds me of my best bud and I.
Since it came out, I've watched it twice. Each time I just can't believe how bad it sucks.
The end scene is it's only redeeming quality, if you're blasted by that point.
DO NOT WATCH SOBER!!!!!!!!
I'm actually pretty cool with this. While 1 and 3 are my favorites, I've enjoyed all of them.
1:06 Mitzi Martin, the awesome Cate Archer and a Hot Chick.
loved this movie as a kid
Your parents were pretty lenient, I guess.
If you were a kid during this time then yes, yes they were. We also rode bicycles without helmets, went to school without "safe zones" and even were outside until the street lights came on. Being at home playing video games during sunlight was not in your mind, socializing and playing sports with your friends were.

Pro's would have used my keys!
"Longtime friendship, loyalty, and the occasional bank heist." Grand Theft Auto V anyone? Rockstar should be sued.
***** Funny, I was thinking of that game while viewing this review, especially the scenes with the armored car being pulled over and the helicopter shooting up the office building.

bro-flicks superior to chick-flicks confirmed.
I love this film I don't know why but I love it I wish they made a sequel or a prequel to this. Love Mickey Rourkes portrayal of a wondering stranger
very enjoyable watching this two bad ass actores together in a film like this with characters like those... Cool film...
No prob, thanks for watching
yeah, he was a mess there for a while. Glad he cleaned himself up, bummer he had to ruin himself to do it
Good to know it was a hit somewhere. It floundered in the US unfortunately.
it's down there... classic bruv
l loved this movie, my best friend & I quoted it all the time. You said it may have influenced The Matrix, Liquid Dream may have influenced Walter White's finest product
I'd say the trench coat dudes also inspire the Tyrant T-00's from Umbrella.
I accidently saw this in
the movie theater when
I was 15 years old
I was the only 1 in the
theater to see it
I took a girl out on our first date to this movie.
Awesome movie review... I would love if Rockstar make a GTA type game based on it
It's one of those movies that if it's on, just watch it no matter where it's at.
Never shoot pool with your own balls - I will never forget that quote.
The coat wearing retrieval agents were also paid homage to by the aesthetic design of the Synth Coursers from Fallout 4.
bloody hell Micky rook and don Johnson starring in a film together, which i didn't know about until now, good review as always look forward to the next one

Split Second? Do you mean the Rutger Hauer/Kim Cattrall film from 92 that takes place in a flooding London? I love that flick.
Hey I never saw THIS intro before. That's neat to see how you transitioned from one of your other intros to this then the one you use now. Cool! Just felt like mentioning. :)
Die Hardest! That will never happen?!;)
I need to rewatch this movie, it's like a billion years ago!
Sweet review!
lol, this movie is so epic. Nothing like this around any more... two masculine guys kicking ass and women desperate for atention. Awsome movie.
Thanks for reviewing one of my all time favs as a kid! Just bought it on blue ray outta the bin, in Walmart.
Keep up the good work!
Btw I liked and subbed your channel too 😎
Just saw this and wasn't sure if I answered. I liked Dead Bang, I thought it was a good movie that had a pretty awful name.
I dig me some Dead Bang.
I actually saw this in a theatre when it was released, and somehow I missed the correlation between the rooftop jump into the pool and the cliff jump in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Micky rourke looks completely different in this film
I saw this a few days ago, still amazed they weren’t sued to hell and back.
I like how the agent have Steyr AUGs that have one of the best assault rifle that with 1.5× telescopic sight and is one of the best stock sight in the business, but the agents shoot from the hip, no wonder they suck at shooting.
the review of this film ,made myself laugh ... great funny lines
Michael Mcveigh thanks!
4:40 just noticed that Marlboro's pistol goes empty during the shootout (slide is locked open) but he keeps aiming and trying to shoot it.
This is my all time favorite movie
Thank you!
