  • Here's the methods I use to deal with mosquitoes at Three Acre Paradise. They work great during normal times but can get overwhelmed during parts of the year when there is a lot of rain.
Amazon associate links to the products mentioned in this video:
    Mosquito Magnet - amzn.to/2z6YLY0
Spartan Mosquito Eradicators - (link removed, not confident they work)
    Insect Fogger - amzn.to/2KFEpM3
    Fog Juice - amzn.to/2KEz7A7
    Coleman 100 Max - amzn.to/2ZeFyhj
    Thermacell - amzn.to/2ZbenIh
    ---------------------------------------------------
If you like the content I produce and would like to help support this channel there is one really easy way and it won't cost you anything. By using one of my Amazon links below any time you begin your shopping I will get a small referral reward even if you don't buy the product listed (when an item is purchased). These little bits add up and help me to buy more garden items to make more videos!
You can use my general amazon link (amzn.to/3qjBw6K) or check out one of the tools below. These are tools I use every day in my garden and highly recommend.
Tree saw - this Silky Professional F180 has a comfortable grip and cuts through branches with ease. I use this for things too large for the pruners. To date there is no rust on it, I put a loop of paracord through the hole in tha handle to make it easier to hang. Link: amzn.to/35Mb77Z
Pruners - The Felco F-2 Pruners are the choice of gardening experts everywhere. They seem to last forever, if you are a real heavy user you can buy replacement blades and make them like new again. Link: amzn.to/3qjzgMO
Snippers - For more precise work such as cutting delicate leaves off of new starts, these Corona stainless steel snippers work great. They have a long narrow blade to get into the tight spots on your seedlings or to prune smaller plants. Link: amzn.to/2TZmk2B
Trowel - Now this isn't really classified as a trowel but the Corona Scopp is my everyday all prupose tool that I probably use more than anything else (besides the pruners). This is not the best for digging in the soil but I don't really do much of that in my food forest. This is an excellent tool for potting, which I do a lot of. It holds a lot more than a traditional trowel and is a very well built tool. I've left it out in the rain many times and no rust. Link: amzn.to/3zRa5We
Knife - This Morakniv knife has held up well, it stays sharp and while the blade has lost its bright color it has not rusted. I use this for opening bags of soil and cutting ropes and twine. This knife is fairly inexpensive and includes a belt holster if you prefer to carry it that way. Link: amzn.to/3d9IPbD

Thanks for the video, I just saw a video that said Dawn dish water has no surface tension on top of the water. If this is true the female can't stand on the water to lay eggs which would break the life cycle. I haven't tested it but I am going to today.
Edit: Actually most shampoos should also work if the reason the man in the video gave that Dawn works. Anything with sodium laureth sulfate and sodium laurel sulfate in it.

There should be no fluid in the coil from your last run. That's bad for the coil. when you're finished fogging you should let the fogger set untouched for a minute to 2 minutes and then turn it off. That extinguishes everything left in the coil. Better for your machine.

Thank you for your video. I would like to say something about the fogger. I have that exact same one, and have stopped using it because I realize that it kills everything, including spiders. I want to keep as many spiders as possible because they tend to set up their webs where ever mosquitoes hide.

Those video about the magnet are always impressive for the bag of mosquitos, truth is this is accomplished only on insane zones, with a lot of days and so on. For that amount of money you can buy 10 electric zapper and make a 360° wall around you. The attractive for me is a scam, i have tried both attractive and it is ridicolous non working as expected.

    • @GardeningSolutions
      @GardeningSolutions  2 года назад +1

I guess it depends on where you live. There is a lot of swampland near me so the mosquitoes are really bad. I've found that regular zappers kill everything but mosquitoes. The co2 from the mosquito magnet really does work, not sure how much the additional attractant matters.

    • @josephbennett3482

The propane is converted into carbon dioxide just like our breath that we exhale , when the mosquitoes get close to the cone where the additional attractant is they're sucked up into the catch bag and dry out and die after a few days.

Did you listen to my comment that they don't bother my face? Mosquitoes bite my arms and legs but seem to stay low, no logic other than that needed. It wasn't due to concern about DEET.
