    Usually I'm not a big chronographs fan, but these three look really well done and very attractive. Sinn always delivers great value for money. Sooner or later I would like to add one to my collection.

    I would naturally normally gravitate towards the limited edition version. It's quite nice with the added details and subtle changes. But, on the other hand, I've always wanted then wish for a white dial version of the 104 with Arabic numerals. Which they still really haven't made, but this is maybe the closest to that with that. Panda dial version, just doesn't have a rotating out of bezel and it's a chronograph also. Also. But, the Arabic numerals on a whiteish Dial color is about as close as I may get right now.

  • @frasitopoquito4144

    I ordered the white panda dial, I understand they should be delivered to the AD in late December or early January. There is an option to order the sapphire crystal for an extra 500 CAD on the non limited pieces which would reduce the height by about 1 mm. Thanks for the review, as always very informative.

    Beautiful watches, but I am a Sinn fan boy, so I would expect nothing less from them. My pick of the 3 would have to be the limited edition, the applied logo for me just steps it a notch and the satin finish suits this style. As for your pick, I'm going with the white dial variant, I just know you too well brother 😉
    Now if I could only sell a kidney or one of my kids to buy one, do you know anyone who wants a slightly used 16 year old boy who doesn't eat much 🤣

    Dunno, hard to justify one of these (even though they're gorgeous) over a Hanhart. You can get a 39mm 417 ES Flyback chrono for like $3200aud from Define? Even cheaper secondhand. Compared to the Sinn it beats it out on almost all categories to me, except maybe dial looks with that delish brown fume. Sure, the Sinn is a special edition, but it's not *that* special.
    Maybe you might like to ask Define to send you a Hanhart to review? They seem like truly lovely watches, and it would be interesting to hear your take if you think there's a reason there's a price delta between the Sinn and the Hanhart

    • @ahojnazdar3656
      @ahojnazdar3656 10 месяцев назад

      Exactly. Today watchmaker's standard is to invest to "bending of history marketing" (read heritage), artificially limit production and voila prices justified! The more of those sleights of hand I see the more I appreciate those oldschool independent watchmakers like Hanhart.

    Nice look! I noticed that a lot of brands that are offering vintage-inspired watches are using acrylic crystals. The argument is that it’s more vintage-y it seems… is the point to build a vintage-inspired watch to modern specs? Is the cost of box/ top hat sapphire crystals so much higher? I just don’t get it. By the argument used, companies might as well toss a Sea-Gull movement in their watches because it’s the style of movement used during the time period…

    • @AlexanderB.
      @AlexanderB. 10 месяцев назад +1

      I agree 100 %!

    • @Horizontalvertigo
      @Horizontalvertigo 10 месяцев назад +1

      Acrylic crystal has a different presentation than mineral or sapphire, it's warmer and you can get more pronounced, vintage domes with it. It's not a cost issue really, if you wanted to put sapphire into the Sinns there'd probably not be a real price difference to the end consumer, it's just a negligible amount compared to the full watch.
      Some companies do use the old Venus clones for that reason (and they're cheap) and essentially, most movements are pretty archaic tech these days, it's very incremental advancement. But the essentially: The choice of movement directly effects the working of the watch, so you'd want to choose the best option because a) pride in your own production and b) you don't want to put shoddy movements in to watches if you can help it, and the ST19 could have a better reputation. Conversely, the crystal has no real effect on the working of the watch, it's an aesthetic choice. So if you want to have a pronounced vintage aesthetic, then it just makes sense to use acrylic.

    • @eggsII
      @eggsII 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Horizontalvertigo Thank you for that explanation! It comes down to aesthetic choice and how it affects the watch’s aesthetic qualities. That makes sense.

    You can't go wrong with a Sinn, ANY SINN, they're all great in their own ways. Besides the leather straps being tough & firm, though. My one strap observation, rather than criticism, is that the outer "Suede" type of leather. Will make them absolute "Stain Magnets"!!! Smart move, shifting to a polished leather strap.
    Although with what Sinn's RRP's are? a curved end-link beads of rice or mesh bracelet? Would have been so much more ideal for their look, be it aesthetically differing or not.

    I appreciate Sinn, but on the whole the far majority don't really appeal to me because they lean so toolish. When Sinn go graphic/fun or smart, those have my preference. Actually, these vintage inspired designs are not too bad, but obviously sandblasting isn't a particularly smart finish. The 15mm thickness is definitely a few MMS too much to give it my consideration, even if some is ascribed to the crystal. But the thing that most jumped out to me on these is that I find that the sundials are pushed too far into the margins for me. I can't recall this bothering me so clearly on many other dials in the genre. It must be a proportional thing.

    • @abv1986
      @abv1986 10 месяцев назад +2

      I have the regular 356 acrylic and can attest to the fact that in wearing the thickness feels similar to all my other watches that sit in the 12-13mm area. Crystal ratio to the case. Agree the subdials feel too pushed out here. Prefer how they sit on the three register version.

    • @benjaminvis
      @benjaminvis 10 месяцев назад

      @@abv1986 thanks for your comment. For me it confirms that it not only looks too thick but also will very likely sit too thickly for me. But it's moot in my case, as it's not one from Sinn I'd prioritise. Still a handsome watch overall, despite the sundials.

  •  8 месяцев назад +2

    You can get the white one with a sapphire crystal now but it's still 15mm thick. That is absurdly thick. The caseback is also a very pronounced bubble meaning this watch will never sit flush against the wrist. I've had my experiences with thick watches with bubble backs and no thanks, never again. Such a shame as this watch is gorgeous and all other dimensions are perfect.

  • @ahojnazdar3656

    Very nice look. The 15.6mm thickness is inacceptable for me no matter the look. Mid tier strap, acrylic glass, below the average lume -> 4000/5000 AUD price tag is unjustifiable no matter how much artificialy limited it's production is.
