    I own the non-utc 856 since 2012. I love it as much today as I did the first day. The case still looks perfect and in addition to the hardness benefits of tegimented, the color is very cool. And it's just a great case shape/size. The bracelet didn't hold up quite as well and kind of aged but it's great. One thing to keep in mind, that I am sure many know, but, due to the proprietary tech in here like the inert gas and moisture capsule, that service, if done by RGM in the USA, or by Sinn is not cheap. I paid $540 back in 2019. As watch service goes, that isn't CRAZY , but.....I am sure you can find it for much less but who knows. The watch only cost around ~$1200 so.... But it's a keeper for me.

    This is a very impressive watch. I have a Tegemented U50, which is apparently impervious to damage, and is super accurate. It gains 6 seconds... a week! The relatively small premium for the UTC function makes this the version to go for, but to me, living in the UK where everywhere else is in a different time zone, a Traveller GMT movement makes more sense. If the AR technology increases the service interval then it's worth having. CEO Lothar Schmitt is an engineer rather than a stylist or accountant so I feel confident that any technology Sinn brings to their watches will be relevant to the intended use. This is a good review, thank you 😊.

    Sinn are kind of hard to explain if you haven't seen one in real life. The finish and hardening are so great it catches the light and almost makes it glow rather than shine.
    They also have some real character especially for the trained eye! I love my 556 MoP, the regulation on these watches are also kind of nuts, I usually had to adjust my Seiko a couple of times a week, but the Sinn just keeps making absolute precise time, a real every-day companion!

  • @het_gele_teken
    @het_gele_teken Год назад +1

    I recently bought a 856 UTC as apresent for myself. The bead blasted metal and the tegiment process give the metal a very nice finish and medium grey colour that's quite different from the 556A I also have. Whereas I sometimes feel the 556A to be on the small side at 38.5mm the 856 is a good size for my wrist, not too small but not too big either. I do feel Sinn placed the date window on the 556A in a better, more elegant way. Perhaps the UTC function was a limiting factor? I do love how Sinn executed the H-links using hexagonal bolts. While it has a more cluttered dial than the 556A it still is an unmistakable Sinn watch with its bold 12-3-6-9 dial.

    Excellent review, as always. I've had my eye on the non-UTC 856 for a while. One advantage of the Sellita SW330 use is, they've now all been replaced with the SW330-2 for any new orders (per a Microbrand's response to me). This new revision has 56 hours instead of 42 hours of power reserve. It also makes the Sinn 856 price seem a bit easier to justify, in my watch nerd mind. Christopher Ward was the first to use the new variant (C63/C63 GMT...and now the Lander IV), but that has since slowly spread to other brands. I noticed this and the regular 856 (using the SW300) now also state 56 hours power reserve in the description. It may not sound like much, but the ability to leave a watch for 2 whole days (with a little extra) while wearing extra watches in the collection is a nice step up over 1 day. I do NOT believe this upgrade is coming to the SW200 line, but that sure would be nice.

      BTW, although it was much cheaper than the 856 UTC (at only 1020 Euro at the time), the bracelet has 5 micro-adjustment holes and, although not really a dive watch, even a dive extension.

    Love my Sinn’s, I’ve owned a couple. I will though complain about the clasp! Yes, it works, it’s not uncomfortable, etc.
    It’s just that the rest of the watch is so thoroughly designed and well built that the stamped clasp stands out as an afterthought, looks and feels out of place.
    Feels like it belongs on an entry level micro brand piece (nothing against them), not a $2000 German watch.

    while I wish Sinn would use C3 lume more often, but I get why they don’t- It’s a contrast thing. If you look at a white dial Sinn 104 (C3) next to a white dial Sinn 105 (C1) you’ll see the difference immediately. C1 is just more of a pure white vs C3 which aids in contrast / aesthetics at the cost of overall luminescent potency.

    I am ready to pull the trigger on this one for the last month. My problem is that I do not want to own more than 4 watches, the 856 will be the fifth and its style has elements from all my other watches.
    If I have to find a weak spot on that, it would be the clasp. I'd like it to be a little more cleverly engineered, with an extension and push-button release.
    Bottom line, for me this is the one collection watch, it just does it all.

    Can’t believe that watch is 13 years old. You can’t not see any actual scratches. Interesting feature with the moisture capsule, have not seen this before.

    Owned one of these but the crown sticks out so much that it was really uncomfortable
