It is an awesome plugin. What I'd wish for is a signal flow chart for nerds in the manual, just to have a mental idea of how the signal is moving around the plugin for more intuitive decisions.
Just got this as my first foray into mastering and had not a single clue where i was going with things. This video got my up on my feet and with a pretty respectable first result within half an hour. Brilliant stuff thanks guys.
Masterdesk is a plugin that gives you great mastering results without having to know exactly why the results are great, which is fine for a majority of musicians. This Pro version gives you much more control over the finite details that really make a difference. Great job!
Mastering isn't a mystical process at all, it's very straightforward. And why down-talk your previous two plugins saying that they're amateurish? It's got a few more features for sure, but surely a good mastering engineer has their own preferences when it comes to the individual modules. It's a bit like Ozone being able to split itself up into individual modules.
Very impressed with this one. I own the original Masterdesk and have been demoing Pro for a few hours. I'm getting incredible results with Masterdesk Pro, unachievable with the OG version. Obviously you can't really compare the two but Pro is definitely worth getting, even if you already got a previous version. Highly recommended!

This looks great and I love my subscription. The only thing I have to add is that, maybe, the HPF/LPF should have been before the compression in the signal chain. Definitely not a huge problem and easily fixed by adding another plugin with HPF/LPF before this one.
Wow, haven't tried it yet but i wish all my plugins had an interface like this. The aesthetics subtly matter. I love the OG versions, i hope this can replace them all together.
This is an awesome plugin. To me it seems more like something one could use for finishing touches and minor tweaks to finalize a mix / master. You can't polish a turd with it.
I like doing all these things (minus "stereo widening") with separate plugins, mostly from Plugin Alliance. Then I can add some processing this can't do such as tape emulation and more precise EQ. Hardware is expensive but with plugins there's really no reason to only use one. just my 0.02 anyway
I think I'll wait for the next version ! the" Super Classic Masterdesk True Peak Pro" coming for christmas ! I appreciate the confusion generated by the process. I was working well with the free version actually , and then the second version was interesting , the true peak is fine even it started to be not very nice visually. But now I have doubts , it gives me so much confusion.. Do you have 1 Guy working 24hours every day only on this plugin ???
I’m a “creator” and really not familiar with these mastering plug-ins but I think it’s time to dive in to tutorials to figure it out. It appears from this fine demo that things are organized to pass the mix / fine tune to taste in successive stages. The ears should do the rest, right? Or is going w the Pro Bundle too much?

Nice plugin for sure! In the Master Desk True Peak there were compressor modes 1,2,3,4. Did they disappear in the PRO version, or how would I achieve the corresponding setup in the PRO version?

This depends a lot on the sonic aesthetic you're aiming for but generally, a headroom of 3-6 dBs for your mixes is recommended when going into mastering.

Truthfully, I didn't find it to be a huge upgrade. I found the 'glue' function to make my low end sound a bit like mush even on a low setting. The clipper seemed selective with what it cut which was frustrating, as my kick was clipped cleanly but my hats were still spiking through. AMEK Mastering Compressor gets the job done very nicely though, so I could recommend that for a good clipping function. XL seemed to add a little more to the high end. In this demo, Sam is boosting the highs with the XL, EQ and tone functions and it ends up sounding harsh as a result. I wanted to love it, but after an hour or so of A/B fiddling, just didn't. A big gripe I have is that nearly everything you touch will just make it LOUDER and you'll constantly be going back and forth to tweak the volume knob. I generally love PA's stuff, but this is a fairly universal issue their plugins have, and on something with so many controls like bx_masterdesk PRO, it ends up killing the workflow. Also higher on CPU than previous versions. The stereo enhance feature is neat and adds volume to your stereo mix. The A,B,C,D setting seems to affect which frequencies get pushed the most, so it can color your stereo frequencies to a degree, which I thought was nice. I vastly prefer the metering here over bx_masterdesk True Peak's metering as it puts just about everything you'd want to know in one centralized area. And I appreciated the honesty when loading it up; the stereo width is increased by 10% by default...it is on bx_masterdesk True Peak too, but you wouldn't know by looking at the knobs. But I didn't find those things to be worthy of the $80 upgrade price. As is, I feel bx_masterdesk PRO should have been a free upgrade to owners of bx_masterdesk True Peak, with the upgrade price being offered to owners of bx_masterdesk and the True Peak Limiter. Mileage may vary of course, but I'd stick with bx_masterdesk True Peak with a decent metering plugin like Levels (or ADAPTR Streamliner if you're a PA faithful).

The Rock Example is really not good , the highs on the snare and guitars on the sides have some high resonances and in my opinion the whole mix could have used more mids overal

All You'd have to do Is read the newer features & MATCH your already owned high quality EQ, Filter, Clipper plugins etc to the BX_Pro & place those newer features in your Mastering chain. All this did was TELL ME, & teach me what I have added or not added to make my Mastering chain produce better results in short. So now I KNOW to place a filter, an additional EQ & a Clipper to my chain (which I already use to some degree or another already lol) to get the same or very similar results as the BX_Pro would offer facts! The only true benefit is that you'd have ALL those plugins & features in one Unit as for having efficient CPU bkz adding plugins to your current Mastering chain may spike the CPU a bit depending on what plugins you use in the chain & what their CPU %'s are when amalgamated! But one can always TRY IT for the free 14 day trial to see if it adds any benefits or saves any CPU> & I've already BOUGHT & PAID FOR 2 versions Master Desk, & Master desk true peak as well have the CLASSIC for free version which makes 3. SO I'm not buying this UNLESS the price is $20 or less!

It's a marketing strategy so to speak to OVER CHARGE the initial price point tag to make the consumer THINK & BELIEVE that they are getting an awesome & significant rebate, reduction in price, i.e "loyalty discount" when that's the price point they truly wanted to see their profit margins at from the begining you get what i'm saying bro lmao smh!
Bkz If it were actually worth $199.99 they'd NEVER put such a reduced price point on it later on during sales season facts. & that motto goes for ALL their plugins as well competitors use this same strategy as well not to pick on PA solely. The plugins are worth what we are WILLING to pay u feel me? If they see & NOTICE that we (veterans, experienced, produces, pros etc) aren't going for the $199.99 base price point they WILL eventually lower it to a price point that we see as feasible & that will make us "bite" so to speak like when Fishing. You throw a bit of CHUM in the water to the fish to encourage them, & get the feeding frenzy started in essence facts ahah.
I have ALL the BX_Masterdesk plugins up to (True Peak) made thus far aside from this new one naturally. I don't think I'll be getting this one bkz It's more so about the GUI, the looks of the plugin etc imo lol.
Of course it has more features & functionality. The question is DO I/YOU NEED those feature's & do you already have those feature's in plugins you already own & have within your mastering chain already.
All You'd have to do Is read the newer features & MATCH your already owned high quality EQ, Filter, Clipper plugins etc to the BX_Pro & place those newer features in your Mastering chain. All this did was TELL ME, & teach me what I have added or not added to make my Mastering chain produce better results in short. So now I KNOW to place a filter, an additional EQ & a Clipper to my chain (which I already use to some degree or another already lol) to get the same or very similar results as the BX_Pro would offer facts!
The only true benefit is that you'd have ALL those plugins & features in one Unit as for having efficient CPU bkz adding plugins to your current Mastering chain may spike the CPU a bit depending on what plugins you use in the chain & what their CPU %'s are when amalgamated!
But one can always TRY IT for the free 14 day trial to see if it adds any benefits or saves any CPU> & I've already BOUGHT & PAID FOR 2 versions Master Desk, & Master desk true peak as well have the CLASSIC for free version which makes 3. SO I'm not buying this UNLESS the price is $20 or less!
Also lastly for my reasons to buy it is bkz of the METERS! Correlation, RMS, GR limiter, DR limiter, & LUFS!
I like the raw version better. LMFAO

The raw version is too dull and lifeless
