The Klanghelm DC8C 3 is quite nice. Very versatile and comes with simple and advanced interfaces. Has a simple copy-protection authorization process. At 23 EUR, the price is quite easy on the wallet.
I love the Pro-C 2, very versatile and capable. It also has really good selection of presets which often work great as they are or make a good start for fine tuning.
Elysia is absolutely great for compression while keeping the transients and the overall sound intact. I also recently rediscovered U-HE Presswerk again. The easy modes are very very good and easy to tweak in a musical way!! It has become my favourite comp, especially for Drums.
Compressor which would be number 1 for me is UAD's Distressor - it's fab on vocals, instruments and the mix bus. If I could only have one compressor it would be the Distressor:)
There is something brilliant about the Cenozoix compressor that makes it sound very clean and natural in a way that the other compressors simply don't. That ADAA - Anti-Derivative Anti-Aliasing is seriously magic and even with pretty extreme compression it feels natural and doesn't sound too squished.
Similar to the EQ video, Toneboosters have an offering worth considering! Compressor 4 is a solid competitor to FabFilter at a good price, and (according to some testing by Sage Audio) features one of the lowest distortion compression algorithms on the market in their Punch algorithm.
As long as a plugin is really fancy looking with bright lights bouncy lines and complicated as hell I will be happy with it till a fancier one comes along 🤩😁
Would love to see what you think about the uad spark capitol hills mastering compressor. As someone who actually makes money mastering, I think your opinion would be insightful!
for me the Elysia always has some weird distortion overtones that i end up not using it, and the new Undertone audio unfairchild, well, forget that one you suggested. C-2 > just use any stock instead
For coloration, you need to check your machine learning. It's not even in the same league as ANY algo plugin on the market - no, not even the most expensive one. I bought the CL-1B today and maaaaan this thing is fire on drums. Knock, punch, breathe, groove, weight, dimension - it's all there. I stopped using any algo plugin for coloration since then. I'm at the point where I don't even expect them to do any good. That said, these are the most used algo plugins for nothing more than glue: 1. Pulsar Audio - Manley VariMu 2. Weiss Comp / Limit 3. Vertigo VSC-3
I f'ing HATE plugins from the non-resizable era of Plugin Alliance.. BUT Elysia and Purple compressors work so well... I just deal w/ the fact that the interface takes up 80% of my screen, lol
@@nilespeshay1734 Purple compressor is so underrated, bwaha in full agreement on resizable GUI! This dang elysia, going to have to study it as it sounds great from these videos!
I have those two and the Elysia on my master bus and tend to use one of those three with an SSL bus comp for mastering, all so good. (Usually using them lightly, naturally)
@@BrofUJu same here! the Iron i use for the "glue" factor if needed due to its nice Vari mu style also on a mix bus. and the Shadow hills class A for the final comp before the limiter and it adds super nice depth
@JohnnyFehr definitely. I really like the Iron on slow stuff, Elysia on faster snappier stuff, and the Shadow Hills on punchier stuff. Though I tend use Shadow Hills more on the drum bus than full masters
Pro C really is a great compressor BUT I have to admit, Cenozoix for me personally, is everything that Pro C isn't. Small quality of life enhancements it brings really do make it that much better than Pro C for me. Same can be said for Kirchhoff vs Pro Q3. I love both, but Kirchhoff is my go to always. The native 64bit processing makes for much cleaner processing (albeit, at the tradeoff of a slightly increased CPU usage), the upscaling to 117 bit processing is also very nice to have. If Kirchhoff had collision detection like Pro Q3 does, it would be the ultimate Parametric EQ in my personaly opinion.
I prefer the Kirchhoff EQ over the Pro Q 3 and when I just want a simple EQ like just a low cut it can do that, too. I use Pro Q 3 when running out of CPU power as it needs less CPU.
Its been 8 years im still using fabfilter plugins and getting my work done
really considering getting them, especially since I still got access to student discount, seems to be holding up very well!

Elysia is top notch. Also love the TDR Kotelnikov, would love to hear your thoughts on it.
I love the Pro-C 2, very versatile and capable. It also has really good selection of presets which often work great as they are or make a good start for fine tuning.
I've had the elysia alpha (Plugin) for a looong time .. never regretted buying that one.
Elysia is absolutely great for compression while keeping the transients and the overall sound intact. I also recently rediscovered U-HE Presswerk again. The easy modes are very very good and easy to tweak in a musical way!! It has become my favourite comp, especially for Drums.
really tempted to get the fabfilter mastering bundle in the recent sale :)
Only thing you need almost

If I were stuck with one forever it'd be the Fairchild. Just love the character it has. Top 3 atm for me. LA2A simple, quick, distressor, Fairchild
No Distressor?
Big fan of the Unfairchild, Chandler by Softube and Lindell 354E.
Would love to see what you think about the uad spark capitol hills mastering compressor. As someone who actually makes money mastering, I think your opinion would be insightful!
Good choices.
I also like Sonnox Dynamics, it's a bit brutal but great for dance music, as for more musical Waves CLA 3A is great, very smooth sounding.
Reacomp is hard to beat for transparent compression
💯
Fabfilter, only 25% sale for Black Friday!!! It could have been a little more... like UAD, Izotope, Sonible, Steinberg, Plugin Alliance...
1:37 using this right now !!
Love these video thanks so much keep them coming buying them all lol

Have you ever try the Weiss suite of softube ?
Ah you still use Console 1! How are you finding it? I love mine.

Could you explain in a video what that ffff...sonible histogram shows???
I need to give the elysia another chance - I own it but the interface throws me off P_P

Hi. Where can I hear your mixes?
edit: found on your website. cheers
Top 3 Compressors : 1176 , LA-2A , SSL G Bus .
Curious what you would say about the SPL iron and or Shadow hills class A from plugin alliance
I have those two and the Elysia on my master bus and tend to use one of those three with an SSL bus comp for mastering, all so good. (Usually using them lightly, naturally)

A compressor that is simple and gets great results is Korvpressor.
Sonibles AI always sets the same settings for me. It's like using a preset.
The Unfairchild plugin is 50$ right now.
I tried P11 Abyss compressor on drums and I was knocked out..!
Vertigo vsc-2 anyone?
I'm on Linux so it is Presswerk, Auburn Sounds Lens, and Fircomp 2.
What DAW?
@bennthirteen3701 REAPER
Townhouse bus compressor you forgot

wow, compressors, what nonsense! as if anyone would really hear in the mix which compressor i'm working with in the tracks.
Yeah, i hear you Man, maybe it's just one's personal preference,
