    This in so many ways is gonna give the world so much important information...the power of the potato when eaten without any overt fats and oils and the power of a starch based plant based lifestyle to heal the body mind and soul!!

  • @travelgirl7967
    @travelgirl7967 8 лет назад +4

    Great job Andrew. Do you plan on posting some more details of your blood tests? If people saw your glucose and a1c numbers, they'd be able to realize that a high carb starch based diet doesn't cause diabetes and can actually improve insulin sensitivity. Also, the lipid panel details like LDL, HDL, Triglycerides would be helpful.

    Well done mate. Dr John McDougall is proved right about spuds. I've followed the starch solution and I no longer binge and in 9 months I'm down from 82.9 to 55.9k and although I am now considered slim it is still a surprise when I catch site of myself in a shop window e.g. As I still think of myself as fat. So I sympathise with your self image confusion. We'll get there tho. All the best. Jen (Brighton East Sussex UK)

    I'm curious to see what happens when you reach a healthy weight, a point at which you no longer want to lose weight. Will your body adjust and switch into a maintenance phase, or will you continue to lose weight. I suppose at that time it's just a question of making sure you are eating enough calories to maintain a particular weight. I know weight loss is not your goal, but it's still interesting to see what happens. Thanks for doing this publicly. It's an interesting project.

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  8 лет назад +1

      Yes I'm super interested too! My guess is that my weight will just level off naturally in its own but perhaps I'll have to include another type of higher calorie food or try to eat a bigger volume of spuds...

    Sorry if I missed it but did you get your blood pressure checked? I've seen it somewhere that eating potatoes could increase blood pressure. That's the one thing I'm kinda concerned about before trying to go on a few week stretch of a potato diet.

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  4 года назад +1

      My blood pressure came down. If follow the rules 100% and yours goes up from doing this then you'll be the first I've heard of.

      I don't track cals, just eat as much as I feel like, whenever I feel like. As a guess probably close to 3000cals. Not concerned about organic spuds.

    Hi,
    Was there an adjustment period where you felt worse at first when first starting this diet? If so, how long did it last? Whenever i try to do a low fat high carb diet i get symptoms of hypoglycemia. So im wondering if i just have to stick it out and wait for my body to adjust? Thanks!

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  8 лет назад +2

      +theanswer27 Yes the first 3 or 4 days weren't very good, by day 5 I was coming good though and I haven't looked back :-)

    • @theanswer2730

  • @billydee2176

    Awesome Andrew, did they test thyroid function? I would say it is not a problem since you are losing weight and full of energy.

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  8 лет назад

      +Billy Dee Probably, there were lots of tests. I'm far from an expert with this but if it was tested then it was all good, doc would have told me about it otherwise :-)

    • @billydee2176
      @billydee2176 8 лет назад

      It would be something like Tsh T3 and T4 and anything about HDL to LDL ratio? Did it improve?

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  8 лет назад

      +Billy Dee HDL to LDL ratio improved and the individual readings for both of them improved too. Can't see anything for Tsh, T3 and T4 though, maybe I'm missing something...

    • @billydee2176
      @billydee2176 8 лет назад +1

      +Spud Fit No worries, Doctors do not always run the thryoid test, unless you ask, maybe next time, you could ask the doctor to test it. The fact that you are losing weight and are full of energy seems to indicate your thyroid is functioning well, the human body is amazing at maintaining homeostasis.

    Remember, you're not eating a high "carb" diet, but a high "STARCH" diet. Carbohydrates are usually associated with refined foods. :)

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  8 лет назад +1

      There are different kinds of carbohydrates, complex and simple carbs. Potatoes certainly are high in carbs, yes they are starchy carbs but still carbs.

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  8 лет назад +2

      +Conufan Oh okay I get it now, yes I remember him explaining that too. Personally I'd rather not be focussing on any macronutrients at all, just eating whole foods.

    +Spud Fit What was your cholesterol before you started the all-potato diet? Please give in U.S. numbers, thanks from _____ to _____ . I'm trying to see the difference. My gf's cholesterol went from 266 to 153 in 11 months + lost 45 lbs. just following the "Starch Solution," but didn't lose the weight so rapidly as you (for the same time period) as you're losing on all potato. +Don Cassel It's just a camera attached to the dash and I'm going about 10kph while stuck in traffic. I started and stopped the recording while the car was not moving. I never actually operated the camera while the car was moving, nor would I.
