My immediate reaction to the Among Us set being rejected was "it's literally a game about secretly being a murderer/looking to find the person that's secretly a murderer"
Yeah same.
But, they feature things like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Indiana Jones, and they tend to get kinda graphic. Amogus doesn’t top any of that.
@@angusgambrell7757 One of LEGO's core rules is no realistic weapons or machines of war because the original founder of the company didn't want kids to be recreating WW2 or anything like that. With this in mind, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings don't feature realistic weapons and aren't set in the real world. Indiana Jones also is more built around adventure and is set in the past so LEGO can get away with not including realistic weapons. (by realistic I mean modern weapons or machines of war like tanks, AKs, etc.) Killing and gore are core pillars of the Among Us experience, so there wouldn't be any way around it. They probably also figured that the fad would die before they could get the set out.
@@sp8cescience433 You make a good point.

Strider: how could they reject Yellow? Could it be because of the structural integrity?
Yellow: *is about a person ripping their chest open and spilling out their organs and blood, being pitched as a children's toy*
Me: it's a mystery.
Technically it's an art piece, not a children's toy
I would like that as a child to be honest
The second part of you comment is likely the reason why.
@@legojedi626 nah it'll forever be a mystery
@@legojedi626 r/whoosh
Here’s what I think they should do with “small yellow”: have the set come in two bags. One for the main build, and another for the bricks that spill out of the chest!
Jarascic Park
Goo goo ga ga
I feel like the Among Us set was rejected due to how they had no idea if its relevancy would fare during the redesign period. It takes up to a year and a half for approved Ideas sets to come out and if the IP chosen fizzles out in that time (for example, Fall Guys), it likely wouldn't sell how LEGO would want it. Apologies if my wording is off
If any rejected Lego set should've been on the list by default, it's without a doubt the Krusty Krab
It was such an amazing set and it got every single detail from the show with 100% accuracy! And it's been years since we've gotten a Lego SpongeBob set so this could've been used to revitalize the line!
It's a huge disappointment that it got rejected, but at least we're finally getting a Sonic The Hedgehog set!
I don't know when that set was proposed but I'm fairly certain Mega Bloks had the Spongebob licence at the time
Lego and Nickelodeon have a very shaky relationship, it seems like. Spongebob and Avatar both got cut short for no frigging reason...
@@smittzero8463 The set was proposed in early 2020, which was years after Mega Blocks dropped the license. I can only assume another brick toy manufacturer got the license before Lego could.
I swear i had a lego Krusty Krab years ago
There is a Krusty Krab Lego set. I have one!
My best guess for the among us set was that lego sees it as a fad so they don’t want to make a big set that will be super dated in 2-3 years
Wow this aged like un refrigerated milk
Pokemon:
@@pamelagreco4942 lmao what?
overwatch, monkey king or kid idfk or care what his name is
Or Lego just didn't want to become a meme
Maybe the among us one got rejected because the whole ship would have been too big as one whole set. But it would have been cool if rooms of the ship were sold separately or in packs for the small ones and you could mix and placement of the rooms and combine it with rooms from other maps.
2:18 I think it is the other way around. Innersloth is an indie studio, and Lego asked too much from then. And going by a financial standpoint, innersloth could not take the risk.
i'm actually surprised that among us was gonna get a lego set
I mean it's basically pepa pig of gaming
I'm not.
It wasn’t, lego had a website called lego ideas where people post there ideas and best do able sets get made. Lego rejected it. Is of the license

Strider, you started at number 11. I can't trust you anymore. You'll break my heart. You're too dangerous.
My guess as to why Yellow was rejected has to do with legal issues. The original Yellow, as a sculpture, is a copyright of the artist, the same man proposing that it be made a reproducible set. I suspect LEGO would owe him royalties on every set sold, and that they didn't want to be in the position of an individual potentially leveraging his copyright if, for whatever reason, he ended up dissatisfied with the arrangement.
"what would lego gore look like?"
*then proceeds to show lego organs and lego skeleton as a transition*
I'd heard that LEGO actually tried Legend of Zelda sets, but Nintendo kept rejecting them.
5:04 The LEGO jurassic park t rex rampage set actually includes a bloody hand in one of the rooms.
Why would they release that?!
@MC Chase It’s a 16+ set so.
11: Among Us - Lego officially doesn't want to license violent videogames thus they probably never even contacted the creators of Among Us.
10: Futurama - The cartoon portrays large amounts of alcohol and tobacco consumption.
6: Little Yellow - that can't be the reason, the ship in the bottle set also has just a bunch of pieces dropped in as "water". I think its just that the head doesn't resemble a human head enough.
5: Surf and Rescue - I bet it was just the theme. Lego didn't consider the cancer message at all, just that they have already a line of beach sets and they probably had already other guard tower sets in mind.
4: Fall Guys - my theory: Damage. Legos are durable but maybe lego was concerned that the set would encourage kids to throw and drop the figures more that they could handle.
1: Anatomini - It's funny, but jeeeeesus, I would wake up screaming seeing it at night. I bet there are kids out there this thing gave nightmares to
I thought about the idea of an Among Us set. And the plan I had was that there could be all 4 maps with 3 of the original skins each (there are 12 original skins). I was also thinking about hats and fabric costumes so you could customise crewmates. I was gonna do a vent system too, but it might be difficult for anything that isn’t the Skeld or that ice planet. The Airship could be vertical, opening up and having the moving platforms moveable. Still stuck on how to make MiraHQ unique, though. Maybe I could make a vent system for that too, but it’s not connected enough like the Skeld or the ice planet.
Speaking of the LEGO Mario line. It’d be pretty cool to finally get a bomb boo (or as I like to call them, Boombs) in one of the sets. So we will all finally have a small LEGO version of Boo himself in our collections. We have too many regular LEGO boos anyways.
And if lego does it should replace boo in any of phantoms lego video's.
Wow! Boombs are a way better name than bomb boo
Best guess for me why Among Us was rejected is because it's about discreetly sabotaging and murdering your crewmates so Lego eventually got cold feet.
No its probably because Lego chooses to make sets from more known companies, but Among us is just a game Made by some lucky third party company.
**Sweeps fnaf Lego under the rug** yeah theres *no* third party companies Lego sets
@@pneumonianakey fnaf lego is made by mcfarland toys
no its cuz its too sussy for lego to handle
Or because of the overused memes.
@discord moderator Or because they want people to stop posting about red things being "sus".
2 things
1. Damien's story resonates with me as my grandmother had skin cancer and passed away in 2012 and I still miss her, she was wonderful.
2. As to why Lego would reject a LOZ set my theory is that later in the franchise things got way, WAY darker and the fae in later games were always depicted as cleverly censored but mostly naked. Hope this helps
Howdy PhantomStrider. I am Stephan, the designer of Anatomini.
What a great video! Thanks for your enthusiasm and use of the footage of anatomini through your video.
New subscriber!
Nice video like always man. Im just really suprised the fact you didnt mention the Legend of Bionicle set.
It was extremely popular and there was a whole scandal in the Lego community about it!
For people who don't know, the set was supposed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Bionicle, the theme that basically kept Lego from , well DYING. It was during the 2000 LEGO faced with serious issues.
Unfortunately, the older LEGO community made a fuss about it and started an long drama because
"If i dont like this Lego theme, nobody should! " which is just so stupid.
As a fan of Bionicle myself, I have heard about this before, but I was never aware that it was rejected for such a petty reason! It honestly just goes to show how entitled some people can be, and to the best of my knowledge, it's people who have this kind of attitude that are a major reason why certain fanbases can be downright toxic. That said, it sounds like the people who were against it were more fans of classic Lego system sets rather than the constraction theme that was spawned by Bionicle, as if to say that it's not "real Lego" or something, which is ludicrous!
@@matthewkuscienko4616 yes!
And the legend of bionicle set was system too!
Lego rejected it because they thought it wouldn't sell well, and they kinda where right tbh
Too small
Too expensive
Not constraction

1) I think the reason Zelda hasn't got a LEGO set is because LEGO are planning a Zelda theme.
2) Here is an idea for a LEGO List: Top 5 Best and Worst LEGO themes.
Ah are you a fellow zelda fan
@@toonlink5399 Breath of the Wild is my favourite game of all time
Heres an idea for #1 worst litterally everything star wars related unless lego makes a cmf theme of it i will never buy anything lego star wars do not try to change my mind

If BIONICLE G1 doesn't make at least the top 3 best LEGO themes, there will be a riot in the comments.
I guarantee it.
After I saw that the among us set was rejected, I was cheering, as joyful as can be that it would not see the light of day to haunt my every nightmares.
PhantomStrider: maybe anatomy was removed for the 2128 bricks, The Lego deathstar: 4016 bricks
i doubt among us lego rejection was due to licence
innersloth would have had no issue with it considering how open they are to fan works ecs.
I think it's more of lego not wanting to make a set for a single game of which it was unknown if it would stay in popularity
which it didn't
its still pretty popular, it just seems less popular now because its peak was so high
@@LegoTom-Productions I never said it wasnt popular now it's still got a solid playerbade including myself
it's just that compared to the players it had like last year it's noticibly just... very small
From millions of active players down to around 3 thousand
@Tyler Galarza Nah I still feel like a among us one would be cool
I love Lord of the Rings but there is a lot of blood, and there are tons of Lego sets like Shelab the giant spider featuring a Frodo figure with his eyes rolled back showing white. And many sets feature the Oarks that are very bloody in the movie. So violent sets should no be a problem because they can easy not advertise the violence. Like the plane scene in Indiana Jones has a Lego set even though the guy Indie is fighting gets sliced in the plane propeller. Just wanted to let you guys know what I know. Amazing video by the way, keep up the amazing work!
There was a Scott pilgrim set cancelled

“While fall guys isn’t as big as among us, well pretty much nothing is”
Minecraft: am I a joke to you?
Well, among us has surpassed minecraft in sales. But not yet in popularity. Minecraft was still the most watched game on RUclips in 2020. Many people seem to agree that minecraft is still their favorite over among us.
EDIT: This information is completely wrong. Minecraft still has the most copies sold. The article this info was from is completely wrong.
@@PunakiviAddikti no it hasn't. It is equal in popularity but does not have nearly as much sales as mine craft.
@@theaveragecactus Yeah I'm aware. Just forget everything I mentioned in that comment, the info was from an article that was total BS. Minecraft still is the most popular game in the world with most sold copies. I think it was just clickbait and they completely manufactured the whole damn thing.
@@PunakiviAddikti yeah no problem. Misinformation is so easy to spread on the Internet so I don't blame you at all.
I love seeing videos where people talk about something they're really interested/passionate in
I like your Lego videos a lot ^^
Reminds me of a Lego Aliens set I put up LEGO ideas back in about 2014.
It got about 3K supporters before it got rejected, with it being a brand they didn’t want to be associated with
okay, so just got past the Lego Zelda segment, and i at least have a small idea as to why it hasn't happened (bear in mind, i'm talking before Lego Mario)
Nintendo's very stingy with their IPS, so itkinda makes sense that Lego wouldn't want to get on Nintendo's badside by asking for Zelda to become a Lego set - but maybe Lego Mario will lead into Lego Zelda?
I mean, yeah I get that Nintendo is incredibly tight gripped with their intellectual property(for better or for worse), but it's not like we're talking about some random fan project that Nintendo is dropping the ban hammer on, it's a pitch for an official LEGO set! not to mention, Legend of Zelda is an A-list IP, and it be ludicrous for NIntendo to have any qualms about brand synergy with freakin lego!
Exactly, with LEGO Mario being a thing, I feel like there’s still yet hope for LEGO Zelda
I'm thinking that Nintendo isn't really interested in display pieces. They want to make toys, not collectibles. Even the NES set was made with a lot of moveable parts and integration with the Super Mario figure. For a Zelda set to work, it needs to be something kids could play with, rather than a 2000 piece complex build that will end up on a shelf. At the same time, it needs to limit the number of custom molds used to justify the cost on Lego's end of things.
Honestly it's very understandable given how often things go bad when the lend them out
@@jardex2275 I mean there’s a ton of Zelda statues and figures. Probably more than there is toys. So it seems like there’s not really an argument for Nintendo not wanting to have display pieces. Plus there’s the fact that the NES is a display piece and so is the ? Mark block.
I would've first guessed the Among Us set was rejected bc of violence (even tho it's really tame but hey corporations can be finicky af), but they accepted Star Wars, so idk
Lego were probely more concerned it wouldn't sell well, legp struggled to jump on limited time things and make big bucks on it, its why film tie in waves are small and arnt advertised much. Among us wouldn't sell for adults as well
I mean, it’s easier to just push away the violence in LEGO Star Wars, but Amogus focuses on it quite a bit.
11:48 I bet LEGO might reconsider a Fall Guys set now
9:45 Weeeelll... Lego has several Sets around which basically tell you to just... dump 200something 1x1 tiles somewhere so it looks like dirt or water - I LOOK AT YOU, BONSAI TREE!
I swear to God, if there is an actual Among Us set in this list

I would like to see a Top 10 discontinued Lego Sets.
That would be a big list, maybe discontinued Lego Themes?
I think the reason the among us set was rejected by lego was to avoid any controversies regarding the popularity of the game. Like if the set was released and people found out about the set, they would probably think lego was just trying to cash in on the popularity of among us. And once you know it, 12 year old reddit memers would spam among us memes regarding the situation. Lego probably just didn't want to deal with any of that.
Not sure why Lego would care about the opinion on some redditors lol. The more likely reason is that Lego saw among us as a fad and feared that by the time they released the sets, among us wouldn’t be relevant anymore.
or because of the theme probably
@@bsgsmusic3451 yeah that makes a lot more sense. And now that I think about it, lego did make minecraft sets. But it worked because legos and minecraft went well together. Among us and legos don't have much in common.
I love these lego episodes! Keep it up!
I remember there was a pitch on the lego ideas site for a set based on Count Olaf's house from A Series of Unfortunate Events. I *really* hope that one gets accepted; that'd be fun as heck :D
Actually now that i think about it, there are a bunch of locations from ASoUE that'd make for good lego sets. Places like Uncle Monty's house, Prufrock Preparatory School, the Queequeg, the Carmelita, the Hotel Denouement, etc.
Same with kotlc like imagine an exile set or a sanctuary set
(But the movies will need to come out first)
Yes
Maybe as a smaller set they could have the trolley
WE NEED THIS NOW

The yellow bricks coming out of Small Yellow could be done since I’ve seen a Lego set where you pour bricks into a little bowl around a small tree.
I won't lie, the set I was saddest to see rejected was the Lego Rammstein set. It looked so bloody cool and I love the band. But licensing issues are a thing unfortunately...
Answer to why Zelda was rejected: The Zelda projects were denied as the rights to use Nintendo properties were licenced to a different LEGO competitor

Mario and The NES: 👀
With the Lego Mario maybe one day we can get Lego Zelda
I love the idea of working with logo, but I never find the sets I'm looking for. Maybe it's because I'm a 32-year-old woman. The Adventure Time set looks exciting and would actually get me watching the show and, when I saw the proposal for a "Yellow" miniature set I was ready to put out money. I'd also love some nice graceful realistic animal sculptures and busts and some customizable wall art. I'd build functional art, like decorative lamps. I'd even be up for building a complex back-lit stained glass window. I guess I long for some aesthetic space between the cold grey space ships and the pink dream house looks of Lego Friends. Can't I just build something of lasting beauty as a design or art piece that isn't built around TV or other passing trends? Can't I make Yellow? Or a detailed graceful white cat? Or an exciting abstract sculptural lamp to place in my window? Maybe one day I'll finally get to make Yellow.
There are So many great moments, characters, places, vehicles, and gadgets from Futurama that would make excellent Lego sets. We're missin' out! And hey, great video Strider! I'm loving the new stuff. I mean I love the old stuff too but that's not what's in question
For the among us set, the one other reason is that it would use up a lotta pieces, making the set more expensive, unless they made it some ultimate collectors series.
Perhaps if lego still made boardgames the among us set would have worked better.
Or if the among us sets could have been easy reworked into the city space theme.
Oh they did make board games

Edit: Thank you for all the likes guys!
Yeah, the model set is impressive, but let's be honest here, it's really hard to picture a franchise that is aimed more for adults than for kids becoming a Lego set, which Lego's main priority is for families and kids, which The Simpsons managed to get one because that show had an appeal for kids as well as adults, despite the mature themes the show has, which I'd like to point out that Doctor Who and Back to the Future also have mature themes like The Simpsons, and they have Lego sets too.
You're welcome for the Likes, hopefully that made your day great and helped build up your low self esteem 🙃

It would be like cluedo lol
There was a fan of the band Rammstein that recreated the stage from the 2019 tour. It easily got the 10,000 votes and even the band approved of it. It was rejected by Lego because according to them it didn't follow the guidelines about basing the set on a someone else's intellectual property. Personally I think the band is just too controversial for Lego.

Lego had another lego ideas set where they had you put a ton of clear studs in a container with no further instruction. They could probably get away with something similar on small yellow.
the closest we have to ultra gore is in the jurassic park set i believe, the on e with the massive t rex build and the archway. inside the archway there is a hand on the door with blood on one end to basically say he got eaten and is dead

@@pneumonianakey Pretty much. However, eventually Among Us is either going to run out of things that you can do or people are going to want more variety and then a new game will come along that scratches that itch, becomes stupid popular, and then it gains the same level of exposure; that's just the cycle of popularity: it never ends, and quite frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way. That said, I absolutely love that this is another case of an indie game gaining so much traction that it became mainstream. I love seeing that stuff happen, damn what the haters say. I may not play Among Us, but I can respect the absolute hell out of its success: it was well-earned! :3
Among Us probably got rejected because the Imposters kill the crewmates onscreen and there’s blood, which may be too violent for LEGO’s allowance
