    the ultimate problem with Pumpkin SPICE everything is that way too many people who don't know that it's meant to be just the spice mixture that goes into/on pumpkin pies instead of pumpkin and spice, so you'll get massive errors like, "pumpkin flavored M&Ms," and "The original Pumpkin Spice Latte contained no pumpkin".

But I'm actually pretty fond of the new kinds they've put out, so I have a feeling they must have taken it back to the drawing board and tweaked the formula enough to make it actually... y'know... palatable.

That folks would freak out so much at the idea of a cola that looks like water when they'd happily drink Sprite or unconvincing 'fruit drinks' colored like hydraulic fluids seems absolutely brain-dead.
      On a cola label's short list of ingredients, which I figure everyone must read at least once if only out of boredom, there's always one ingredient that's memorably plainspoken and simple in name-- 'caramel coloring'. That's an explicit admission the brown color is just for show!

    I just tried Mountain Dew's "Flamin' Hot" soda recently. It weirdly didn't taste disgusting, it was more or less like Sprite but with a bitey aftertaste almost like the inverse of the cold feeling you get from mint. _Still fundamentally unpleasant, but not the way I was expecting._
    I also remember chocolate skittles at one point, which were absolutely a mistake that I'm glad vanished into obscurity.
    Edit: And one I just remembered that I had finally forgotten the taste of: *Trolli Candy Corn.* I thought it would be candy corn shaped and tangy gummy flavored, but no it was gummy shaped and *candy corn flavored.* Bluuuuueegh. Worst Halloween candy choice ever.

    The biggest battle for snack manufacturers is always over shelf space, so it's important to note that new varieties can help the company even if they don't last because stores tend to still order and pack out the same number of the standard flavors, but also make room for the new ones (often giving them promotional signage or end caps to boot). This is why there's always a third flavor of Doritos available.

They were the only one of the Swoops that I actually liked as they were better then just buying the Peppermint Candy Bar that Hersey also released around the same time. Like, it actually tasted better somehow. Maybe because of the more thinned shape?
    Though, as mentioned in the video, you did not get many "Swoops" per package, and they cost almost $2~$3 more then a standard candybar, and normally weighed overall less then a normal bar. So it wasn't only the number of "chips" you got, but you were effectively paying more for less at the same time.

Ad campaigns might not even bother to try and show a connection between their motifs and the products. Meanwhile we just sat on the sofa watching, so used to seeing it that nothing seemed amiss.

    The people baffled/unsettled by the idea of chocolate-covered potato chips must not live anywhere near Dayton, Ohio. You see, in Dayton there’s a famous chocolate company called Esther Price. There are at least two stores in the area (one in Dayton itself and one in Englewood. Edit- I double-checked and it’s Clayton, not Englewood. Even locals can have a hard time telling when some of the cities around here end and others begin) and numerous local supermarkets & stores carry their products. I live in Trotwood, which is near Dayton, so my family has been to Esther Price numerous times. Another Dayton specialty is Mike Sell’s Potato Chips. The two companies teamed up and so it’s common to find Esther Price chocolate-covered potato chips in Dayton-area supermarkets and sweet shops. They come in sturdy boxes so there isn’t the same crush risk you have with bags. I got a box this Easter and enjoyed them. I would describe the taste as good-quality chocolate with a little salt. The only issue is price; the 12-ounce box I got cost $15.25. Because of this I don’t get them very often.

      @pocketscarf 2 года назад +1

      As someone from the area, I think there's one in Centerville too. Or at least there used to be. But yeah, the Esther Price chocolate covered chips are actually a really good ratio of sweet and salty, with a nice crunch. (Though I might be biased cause I enjoy salty/sweet things like salted caramels anyway). Esther's stuff is definitely pricey, but you get what you pay for in most cases. I remember when I was a kid my family would only ever get chocolates from there for valentine's day. That was it. Literally the only thing that kept me looking forward to that holiday, ha ha.

    To add onto Lays' escapades into the realm of sweets, last year my store sold Reeses bite-sized chocolates with crushed potato chips in them, specifically Lays potato chips. It was part of our push contests for the stores in our region during Halloween, but even when selling a lot it was mostly due to good employee pushers and not the love of the product. Most people I asked about the candy told me they weren't thrilled about the taste or texture, and that it mostly just grossed them out to have potato chips inside Reeses. We also had a pretzel-filled Reeses that was loved significantly more and actually sold out before our contest ended.

    A small correction about the pumpkin spice M&Ms, I once thought, as is clearly the case for this fellow, that this means the item is supposed to taste like pumpkin, or pumpkin pie. In fact, it's just the spices one uses when making a pumpkin pie. This led to a great deal of disappointment on my part, and a loathing for most things pumpkin spice to this day. Turns out that that particular blend of spices does few favors to most other foods. That said, there are plenty of pumpkin flavored, or pumpkin pie flavored products out there, and lots of them are quite delicious. Just watch out for the word "spice" and you should be fine.

      @@ryuudraco592 Well, I don't know about other countries, but there's a few hidden areas in the U.S that you could try to find Salted Jalapeño dark chocolate bars. One obvious spot is in any "Hispanic food" section in grocery stores, another is with the expensive deluxe fancy chocolate bars. Weirdly, one suprisingly reliable place is actually health/vitamin stores and the mini cafés built into some of them? My guess is that it's because it's a "superfood" that can be viewed as a candy bar replacement. Street Cafés are another good place to look for spicy chocolate bars & sometimes even freshly brewed Mexican Hot Chocolate (aka drinking chocolate)!
      Remember, keywords are "jalapeño", "salted (for the salty versions)", "Mexican/Cuban (I don't know why this odd claification is made. These bars are popular across all of Latin America)", "dark cacoa bars", "cinnamon", and even "Mexican Hot Chocolate bars" can be used on the labeling (Kinda of an incorrect name though. Real "Mexican hot Chocolate" bars are specifically made of cacao processed for brewing in mind. To eat those directly is like eating a spoonful of ground up coffee beans... Not a good idea. 😂).
