I think I know one reason the Spongebob cereal didn't catch on for long.
If you want a cereal with nautical marshmallows, you can get a big bag of Marshmallow Mateys, which is basically Malt-O-Meal's version of Lucky Charms. It is a lot cheaper that the SB cereal probably was, and it has a larger assortment of nautical marshmallow shapes. And it tastes at least as good as Lucky Charms.

Being British, I didn’t have “loud” and “sweet” cereals as much. I had kind of the generic ones like Coco Pops, Rice Crispies & Corn Flakes. I am curious to try the Dunkin Donuts cereal as I love coffee and it does look nice on the box. ☕️☕️☕️

Pop Tarts Crunch and Cupcake Pebbles are delish. I'm surprised that there was no mention of the butchered version of Rice Krispies Treats (or the ones with the stale mini marshmallows) that killed the cereal because Kellogg's refused to admit that they made a mistake.

Speaking of Rice Krispies, there used to be Halloween ones with orange and black Rice Krispies,
but I haven't seen them since the early 90s? Yet every December I see Holiday Rice Krispies. Why?!
I loved making Halloween themed Rice Krispies Squares, and now all I can make are the regular and holiday versions.

One cereal I remember that got discontinued was the Cinnabon cereal. My siblings and I really loved Cinnamon Mini Buns cereal, so when that stopped showing up at our local super market, we hoped this would taste just the same. It did not, the texture was all wrong and it tasted most of hazelnut. Fortunately an actual Cinnabon is something I always look forward to eating whenever I go to the mall.
I still miss Cinnamon Mini Buns to this day and can still remember the taste. I really hope it comes back one day, or a cereal that captures its taste.

I do prefer fruity pebbles more than the cupcake ones, but the cupcake pebbles were actually pretty good from my experience on them. I do wish that the cereal could make a comeback, but unfortunately I don’t eat much sugar as I used to, and usually stick to frosted mini wheats more often.
