@@randallgodfrey3852do it without delay. Using this hitch allows my tailgate to fully drop. The hitch (the part that connects to truck) comes in two pieces so the weight for hooking up is most manageable. The app is incredibly useful and easy to use. Allows to set up weight distribution perfectly every time. No sway, no porpoising. It’s a little noisy in tight turns, just like an Equilizer, but that’s because it works similarly, only better!

    Please review…
I hate jacking the rig up to put the bars on….
    I have the Equalizer.
Looking to get the heavy weigh safe…… BUT.. i would still have to jack up to install bars. I hate that.
Would love to have a blue ox type load saddle, with the Weigh safe. With no jacking up. ( yes i know the blue ox is a chain type. I dont want a chain type but i see how easy it it to load up the bars)
Seems like that would be a great engineering upgrade for way safe.
Ok… so till that product is available.
I think I’ve worked out something in the interim..
Im going to order a second set of equalizer Saddles. I’ll place them just behind the regular ones… and drop the L bracket low enough so i can use that as a leverage point for a “longer bar” that will be easier to get the power needed to load the bars without jacking the trailer. Theory.
My reason for all his is that i have to put the bars on AFTER leaving the house,… and take them off before returning to the house because I have a dip in the drove way. ( working on leveling )
Taking off the bars is easy with the Indexing pry bar, but going on is a pain.
    Thanks.

Thanks for all of your great reviews Cory. I've got a setup very similar to what you had a while back - a 2022 Imagine 2800BH and a 2011 F-250 Lariat. I've also got one of these new medium duty hitches on backorder - Weigh Safe is waiting for more 2.5" drawbars to arrive, hopefully in the next month or so. My decision on Weigh Safe vs. Equalizer was swayed (no pun intended) by your reviews.
I do have a question for you if you don't mind - when you had my setup, do you recall how much rise you needed in the drawbar to keep the truck and trailer level?
Thanks and keep up the good work!

There is one thing you could show with this hitch in the meantime - clearance. You said before that the heavy hitch allowed you to open the truck tailgate. This hitch looks shorter, so that may not be the case. I would like to see both the heavyweight and the midweight shown with BOTH a truck AND an SUV (you may need to find a friend with the latter) and show us how both tailgates and hatches clear or don’t clear a power tongue jack with both hitches.

Always enjoy your videos and perspective - thankful. I am going to get the WeighSafe True-Tow. I had watched your videos - liked the comparisons. Hi Corey, I recently used your discount code to purchase a weigh safe medium. Thanks for that. I am experimenting with the setup and although its somewhat better than the blue ox I was using, I am still a little disappointed. I own a 8324sb Rockwood which is roughly 38 feet and around 10,000 lb with propane and batteries loaded. My tongue weight is 1100 to 1200. with my measurements the DTW IS BETWEEN 2500 and 2800 on the weigh safe app. I still have a little sway and I am wondering what to try next. My ball is just a little under 1 inch higher than the coupler and if I raise it it will be be close to 2 inches higher. I am towing with a 22 ford f250 crew cab. I have always been told that the tongue weight should be roughly 10 to 15 percent, that's around 1500lbs vs. the DTW the app gives me. any suggestions? Love your reviews.

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  9 месяцев назад

It sounds like you are guessing your weights. Have you ran over a CAT scale? Entering the correct weights is a must. If the weights are correct how level is the unit when hooked up? I usually like to have the unit running about an inch lower in the front than in the back. Definitely don’t want the rear lower. Try these first.

TONGUE WEIGHT is just over 1100 lbs. 2 inches lower on front hitched with bars installed. DTW is set at 2650 lbs. AS PER APP. CAT scales= 3860 steer axle/ 4140 drive axle/ 8640 trailer axle. TRAILER =9210 dry weight plus 2 x 30 lb propane and 2 x12 volt batteries. Nothing in truck bed, dog and wife in cab. 2022b f250 4x4 crew cab with 7.3 gas. I also want to say its much better than the blue ox ever was, but I would like to maximize the hitches ability. I'm still swaying just a little in interstate traffic at 65 mph. 2650 IS TARGET WEIGHT ON APP WITH 2500 AND 2800 MIN AND MAXIMUM. What would you change? Thanks again

Ok, I installed this hitch this weekend. The manual is missing detail on step 8. I contacted support with my concern. The answer was not great. What have you found is the right process for unhitching? Do you remove the bars, and come off the hitch without any adjustment to the lead screw or clamp bolt? After you have unhitched, when you are ready to hitch back up, the manual has you back off the clamp bolt, but never mentions the lead screw. Is the intent to hitch back up with the hitch head already adjusted to the distributed setting? The manual needs a little work in this area! 😀. What say you hitch wizard?

Haha… hitch hillbilly is my preferred pronoun…
I don’t touch the adjustment screw once I’ve set the trailer up. I unhitch just like every other wheelbarrow type hitch. I use the tongue jack to eliminate pressure on the bars. Shoot me an email at wanderingwknds@gmail.com if that didn’t come across clearly. I’ll get into more detail. I haven’t had an issue at all.

Did my first tow with weigh safe. About the same as equalizer. Much harder to hitch up than equalizer. The position of the scale provides very small space for getting the trailer receiver in the right spot. Much more exacting to get into position. On the plus side, I can open my tailgate with the trailer hitched up. I was hoping for more difference. I have a long tow up to North Ga in two weeks. I will re-evaluate after that.
