- In this video, I discuss records on my want list that are now in my collection. I show a Japanese press and a very hard to find record. I show some Beatles collectibles and records from Paul McCartney, Prince, Aerosmith, Hootie and the Blowfish, Billy Squire, The Righteous Brothers, Chicago and many more, #VinylCommunity #MelindaMurphy #RecordCollection
I come here: I get to see great vinyl records, Melinda's entertaining stories & gifts. Enjoyed the video - BIG thumbs up!
You are so sweet. I really appreciate the encouragement. Thank you and have a great weekend!
The Amoeba Record is great. Wonderful intimate show. Always fun to see your shares.
Thank you Mazzy!
I have the Forest Gump on CD, good soundtrack. I like the Hootie album, I still play it a lot.Nice finds Melinda, I picked up a lot of good finds today, might do a Video tomorrow.
You always find great stuff. I'm still dreaming about the Procol Harum Salty Dog album you showed recently. Nice.
Don't say no came out right after I graduated high school. Great memories.
Love music related items. Thanks for sharing. Andre’
Mike sent over a lot of great 45's for your Jukebox! I hope everything is coming along well with your Jukebox, I can't wait to see it when its finished! Have a great weekend!
Thanks. The jukebox is in the garage and the heat has been keeping us from being able to do much but I look forward to getting it ready and I have some awesome 45's for it. Mike is really cool to help me out like this. Take care!
Only recently came across your channel. Love it. Very friendly and open to different music genres. Makes my day to listen to your accent (beats my Scottish one, for sure!) So thank you and keep up the good work.
Melinda , Now , you will be a Juke Box Hero ! The RCA glasses are super cool. Home Of Elvis & Bowie ! Enjoy a 🍺.
Lol. Thank you. I loved the RCA glasses too. They were a neat little find.
Terrific purchases! Lots to listen to, Enjoy! Take Care Melinda, Allan
Thank you Allen!
I have a collection of Rod Stewart’s vinyl albums from the 70’s.
I love alot of the old Rod Stewart music. Great albums!
So cool you're enjoying Paul's new live releases - especially AMOEBA GIG! Nice Beatles trinkets you found too. I remember having a real fondness for Billy Squier's song "Everybody Wants You" in the early '80s. Take Care!
Everybody Wants You is a great song. It was a huge hit. Thanks Joe!
Hello Melinda, I love Billy Squire and Hootie and the Blowfish fantastic albums I had the cd's back in the day. I really like your story about your best friend great video.
Thank you. I love sharing stories about why an album means so much to me. They are also great albums musically. Have a great weekend!
Hello Melinda ! Wow ! That Prince album is definately on my wishlist too. Such a composer and musician. You just can’t go wrong. Take care now.
Thank you Roger!
I loved the billy squier story that’s so amazing how two people just locked eyes and now they are married and have a family!
I love the story too. They are still going strong. The sad part is that we really only see each other at weddings, funerals and rock concerts. The love and friendship will always remain though. Thank you and I will check out your channel soon.
Hi Melinda! Nice to see your favorite finds...also the album that brought back so many fond memories of your best friend and her first and lasting love. Music has a way of bringing back memories. I remember smoky robinson's hit cruisin' in the late seventies and cruisin with some friends in my new car (1972 bmw 2002) and my friends sticking their heads out of the sun roof going through the park with that song playing in the summer...I was looking behind you on the shelf with knipper the rca dog and the old typewriter..cool! Thanks again melinda for sharing your great collection and have a wonderful weekend!
What a great memory. I would love to see that BMW. Wow. You grew up in such a cool time. Great music and so carefree. I definitely love my RCA dog and typewriter. I recently bought a Snoopy phone from the 70's. It is adorable and still in great shape. I just love all that nostalgic stuff. I hope you are doing well Alan. It's always great to hear from you. You always share the best stories. Take care.
I'm slipping! I didn't know about the "Paul is Live" Issue! Got to have it!
It's a great concert. The Amoeba Gig is my favorite along with Wings Over America. Thank you and take care.
Cool video. That Aerosmith MOV pressing looks quite cool. I have pressings by Music On Vinyl of the bands earlier albums, but had no idea they had done a repressing of Nine Lives, which is a cool album. Might have to see if I can track down a copy.
It does sound great. The MOV version was released in 2010 or so. You will probably have to track it down on eBay or Discogs. Otherwise, there has been one more reissue that came out a year or two ago. It's a very underrated album in my opinion. Take care.
@@MelindaMurphy I've got the album on CD & think it's a really cool album. I remember the band gaining a resurgence in popularity after they released Get A Grip in 1993 & the videos got heavy rotation on MTV. This album might not be considered quite as strong, but I still feel like it's a very solid album.
Hey Melinda! I love watching people cross their wants off of their want list. I've been wanting to get that McCartney record at Ameoba. Happy to hear it sounds great. Very nice VCLT gifts from Mike! Hope you have a great week!
The Amoeba Gig is a great live record from Paul McCartney. I try to pick up most of the McCartney releases when I can. Mike was really sweet to send the 45's my way. It was a complete surprise too. Have a great week too Emma!
Those are some cool RCA glasses...I wonder how rare those are to find! Not gonna lie, I’ve never seen Forrest Gump but I’ve only heard great things about the movie and soundtrack! I hope that Live McCartney Amoeba isn’t a limited run because I’d love to have that one day...I own “Wings Over America” and I enjoy it! I’m glad you love those 45s as much as you do...I was more than happy to send them your way for your jukebox! Thanks for the shoutout! That is defiantly a good Billy Squier album...one of his best! Definitely a nice purple record for Prince! Oh my goodness...I’ve been wanting a copy of “Nine Lives,” it is one of my favorite albums of theirs...and you’re not kidding about the high price point! Great video as always and I look forward to the next one!
I really know nothing about the RCA glass set. I just thought they looked cool. Lol. Mike, you seriously have to see Forrest Gump. It is such a great movie. Thank you so much for the 45's. I have had so much fun looking through them and giving them a play. I really appreciate it. It is so cool that you are young but know the Billy Squire album and so many others. They need to do another reissue of Nine Lives. There is definitely a demand for it. I hope you have a great upcoming weekend Mike.
Cool pickups, Melinda. The McCartney at Amoeba looks great. I've seen some clips from that show. Could you imagine seeing Paul in that space? Crazy! Nice 45 gifts from Mike! He's a cool guy. Happy he's here in the VC! Enjoy your records!
The Amoeba Gig is great and I am jealous of the people who got to go to that. Mike is awesome. He gave me quite a great bunch of 45's.
Love that Beatles ring! 😍
Thank you!
Awesome haul you picked up, Melinda!
Thank you!
Hey Melinda nice collection and Enjoy your lps and another great video.
Thank you Curtis!
@@MelindaMurphy anytime i am loving your videos....I like to know on what do you use for cleaning your records....
WOW what a haul there Melinda and such a thoughtful husband, you scored some really good albums and such a variety of talent.thank you for sharing the way you do I think relating an album to a time in your life is a wonderful way to present.I couldn't help noticing the Clash London Calling in the background (a significant life album for me). Cheers from Brisbane Australia.
Thank you. The Prince album was an amazing surprise. Music is good. Music that brings back memories is great! I enjoy the London Calling album alot. I just picked up the 45 of London Calling and Train In Vain for the jukebox. That was a great find. Take care.
Some really cool Beatles stuff. That live album looks really cool. I did see it online ready to order.
I live McCartney albums are really great. I love the ones I picked up. Thank you.
Speakin of off the wishlist and onto the table...
I’ve got one of my top 3 grails coming today. Really, really excited.
Very cool. Exciting day for sure!😛
Glad for you that you got some gems! Great stories about the Bill S Album. Joe Walsh is in my top 5 guitar players as well, but mine inclues Jerry Garcia and Johnny winter😀 ..this was a really good video my friend
Thank you. I'm glad we agree on Joe Walsh. These are my favorites not necessarily the best. We all have our opinions and you named two greats. Have a wonderful weekend Rod!
Hey. Really awesome video. I’ve never seen anyone put up a “Hootie and the blowfish” record! Such a change of pace. And those Paul Mcartney’s were really nice. Also that little Beatles ring and pin were so interested. Keep it up. Cheers
Thank you. The Hootie album was a must for my collection. It wouldn't have been the 90's without them. Thank you!
Some wonderful new additions to your collection. It’s always exciting to find an album you’ve been wanting out in the wild. Like Beth, I have the Hootie & The Blowfish in my Amazon cart also. Lol I think maybe it’s time to check out. It’s a great album. I’m a Darius Rucker fan. Thanks for the recommendation. Sad to hear the sleeve is on the thin side. I was wondering about that McCartney Amoeba gig. Sounds like it’s worth the investment. Have a great weekend.
I had been wanting the Hootie album for such a long time and I was thrilled to finally have a chance to buy it. The older copies are way too expensive. Darius Rucker has a great voice live too. The McCartney Amoeba Gig is definitely worth a listen. I love it but he is my favorite artist so...Take care Cindy.
I agree with you that Prince is one of the greatest guitarists. It's hard to find, but if you check out his performance of 'Fury' on SNL, he plays some blistering lead guitar on his Stratocaster. Also great playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps: with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Dani Harrison at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Some great guitar runs on a Fender Telecaster.
He was incredible at the R&R Hall of Fame. His Superbowl half time show was incredible too. The opening guitar riff in the beginning of When Doves Cry is perfection. I wish he was still here playing his guitar. Take care.
Love your videos. Keep up the good work. I am thinking about starting my own VC channel. You definitely give me a lot of great ideas. 👍
Thank you so much. I definitely appreciate your kind comments. Making videos is alot of fun. If you think you want to do it, give it a try. Take care.
That’s awesome you’re restoring a jukebox. What make and model are you working on? I did some work on my jukebox, Rowe/AMI Starlight from 1981 A word of advice, don’t play your nice 45’s in there. Find another copy for the jukebox. Jukeboxes tend to track heavier than your turntable’s adjusted cartridge weight. Hope your’s is up and running soon! Can’t wait to see it.
My jukebox is a 1969 Seeburg. What you told me is great advice. I have found some amazing 45's that I can't bring myself to put in the jukebox because they are too nice. I'm looking for records that have been used but still sound good. I hope to have it running soon.
Wow! A ‘69 Seeburg! If the amplifier has tubes, even nicer! You’ll get that warm sound. 45’s have an awesome tonal quality. Led Zeppelin’s 45’s from the 60’s & 70’s will make your mouth water..if you can find them. You’re like me about not wanting to play your nice 45’s in the jukebox. My nice ones are original issue with original sleeve.
@@jmfloyd23 unfortunately it's a solid state. But it does work and has a nice warm sound.
"25th wedding anniversary" 😂😂😂 Oh how I enjoyed the laugh there. Some great records here Melinda. I used to have Forrest Gump on CD, not too long after the movie came out.... it was a double CD too. An amazing soundtrack...had so many classics on it.
Lovely Paul McCartney records. That pale blue is very nice.
So nice of Mike to send those boxes of singles for the juke box. That sounds a real fun project. David Gilmour is a favourite of mine....he is amazing. I was never a fan of Prince but I was aware that he was a very talented guy and respected that. I saw a few videos of him on RUclips playing guitar and he's pretty amazing.
👍🎸
For some reason I got really tongue tied when I was talking about that Hootie and the Blowfish album. Lol. Oh well.
I had been wanting the Forrest Gump album for such a long time. I'm so glad to get the reissue.
I love Prince even though his lyrics are a little much at times. He is a great artist and guitar player.
Hopefully, we will get done with the jukebox and I can enjoy all these wonderful 45's. Thanks and take care Bev.
Good finds. I wasn't a big fan of Nine Lives and I'm still envious.
Lol. That's funny. For a late Aerosmith record, I kinda dig it. Take care!
I have always liked 9 Lives. Liked it a LOT more than Get a Grip and that one was even pressed in the 90s, but I skipped it.
I remember looking for 9 Lives back in 97, with my search ending in the ‘aughts when that MOV version was finally pressed.
There is a Sony Legacy pressing that came out last year, for those that missed it.
As for Hootie and the Blowfish, that is exactly how the original was pressed back in the mid 90s. Bare bones cover and white paper sleeve, except the first pressing was on transparent red vinyl.
The FYE reissue is also on red, so get that one and you have the closest thing to a $100 original at a fraction of the cost. 😄
ok, so I didn't know how much we were alike on music likes until i watched this! Wow! Great Video Melinda!
Thank you. Which artists stood out to you in this video?
Melinda Murphy Billy Squire by far, Prince, and Paul.
Hey Melinda!!!! Looks like you've grabbed some great stuff lately! I really want to grab those 2 McCartney live albums just as soon as I have the chance! So happy you grabbed that 90's classic by my SC homeboys! Whil many have complained about the sound of the yellow vinyl pressing, it is now Out of Print and thus going for big bucks. I personally don't have a problem with the sound of my copy, it's about on par with what I'd expect from a digital transfer on an album not intended to be pressed for mass production on vinyl, I can't help but think of selling my yellow vinyl copy, buying this one and putting a little cash in my topic. Why not, right? All of the Prince reissues coming down the pipe lately have been gorgeous and I couldn't agree more about his guitar prowess. One of the all time greats. I LOVE "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" as I think I've discussed in a past video and man that Mike.....such a great guy and a truly wonderful gift! Looks like you've got a ton of music to listen to! Enjoy!!
Thank you Chris. I have never heard the yellow copy of Hootie and the Blowfish so I have no idea what the sound is like. You could definitely sell it for quite a bit of money and then have this reissue. The McCartney reissues are fantastic although I have never bought what they call the Russian album. For some reason, it hasn't ever appealed to me. I should probably give it a listen. After all, it is Paul McCartney. Great to hear from you. I hope life slows down for you a little. Take care!
Nice color vinyl finds.
That prince cover is amazing the way it dissapears . It’s cool to have even if you don’t like the music that much on that record. Not to mention the purple vinyl. And you lucked out getting that Beatles button.
Thank you! I hope you get your record soon!
Melinda Murphy i got it !
I sent a thank you video of it.😊
The side with secret track will be double grooved so it will depend where the needle drops will decide if you get hear the secret track or not, there is a German group called Scooter who used so of the Chicago tracks one being the Logical song.
Wow. That's interesting.
Absolutely fantastic vinyl finds including that Prince record!! I'm so ordering "Prince:Originals" 2 LP set soon!!
I have had my eye on Prince Originals too. I think I am going to sample it first but I have no doubt it is good. Thanks and have a great upcoming weekend!
@@MelindaMurphy Understood indeed. You have a great weekend too. My name is Craig.
@@cbfall great hearing from you Craig!
@@MelindaMurphy :-))
always such a range of items. Your Juke box will be full before you know it. Need to get a ring like Ringo had in the Help! movie...loll....thanks for sharing
I haven't seen Help yet believe it or not. Lol. I need to see that movie. My jukebox does have plenty of music now. Alot of good stuff. Take care.
So cool that you snagged one of the Macca colored reissues! I got Wings Over America on black but the colored version was just a bit pricey for me. I definitely am looking to get the Amoeba Gig reissue, the tracklist is killer.
The FYE I work at is actually expecting a limited colored variant of the Hootie and the Blowfish album but I am not sure if its an upgrade in terms of the cover, chances are they used the same lacquers from the version that regularly circulates.
So cool to see you got Nine Lives! That album is actually getting a US reissue in September. Live Bootleg is also getting a reissue and I am so PSYCHED for that!
I am going to pass on the colored version of Wings Over America. Friends that I trust in the VC say it doesn't sound as good as they had hoped. I didn't know another version of Cracked Rear View was coming out but they are coming out with a brand new album as well. It's great that Nine Lives is getting a reissue. It needs it. It is so cool that you work in a record store and stay in the know about all the new music coming out. Have a great weekend!
Nice score on The Beatles ring and badge. Most of the vintage memorabilia isn't very easy to come by, in the wild. O really like the RCA glass, as well. I've never seen that before, but it's really cool. I still need to pick up the Sir Paul's Amoeba gig LP. Also, I really dig that T-shirt. Take care!
Thank you and I love finding things such as the RCA glasses and the Beatles stuff almost as much as vinyl shopping. Almost. Take care
The Forrest Gump soundtrack is one of my favorites. Great video!
Thank you!
That Beatles ring is adorable!
Is that Nipper on the shelf behind you?
Wow! you got a Mountain of 45's! Aint it fun to got through them?
That Billy Squire is a classic and staple that everyone should have! Well.. any version... it does not have to Japanese...
Yes that is Nipper behind me. Records and dogs are two of my favorite things. I agree with you on Billy Squire. Everyone should own it.
Really enjoying your channel and that Billy Squire album is very underrated ;)
Thank you so much and I agree with you. This was a great album and should get higher praise. Take care.
Hello Melinda. I love the Beatles button and pins you show at the beginning. They look like they’ve not been messed around with. I was almost about to get the Forrest Gump soundtrack on Colored vinyl years ago but sadly passed on it. I’ll have to try to look for it. Nice to see you got both the Amoeba Gig and Paul Is Live albums in Colored vinyl. I must say that I have played the Colored vinyl copy of “Wings Over America” and it does sound great. I haven’t done a comparison to the original copy though. I just saw that Paul (FitToBeTyeDyed) posted a comment here mentioning that Beatle Brad played the WOA Colored vinyl and it didn’t sound that great. I’d say wait until you see a copy of it for a nice lower price. I was just listening through the 90s on 9 Rock playlist on the SiriusXM app and they had on the Hootie & The Blowfish Songs you’ve mentioned. I remember hearing those songs all the time back in the 90s. That Aerosmith album looks nice too. I enjoyed seeing your new finds Melinda. Talk to you later
I will wait and see about the Wings Over America album. The vinyl is quite beautiful on that one. I'm happy to have the other 2 live albums on colored vinyl. Thank you Marv!
Melinda Murphy You’re very welcome Melinda
Good evening from Germany! Nice and interesting vid again. Hubert
Thank you!
Hi Melinda, excellent/interesting Vlog/s. Which is your favourite artist or group?
My favorites are Paul McCartney, Van Halen and The Beatles. Thank you so much!
Billy Squires drummer Bobby Chouinard lived a block away from me in the 70's/80's. I'm good friends with Bobby's nephew. (Who happens to own a record store ;) Squire was huge here in Massachusetts, of course.
Very cool story! I am a huge fan of Billy Squire. I bet you have heard some incredible stories about him. It wouldn't have been the 80's without his musical presence.
I didn’t realize all those songs were on that Billy Squier album, I’m going to have to hunt for that one!
It is definitely worth finding and it isn't expensive. Just great straight up rock and roll!
Great story about your friend's love at first sight. Too bad you didn't get the colored vinyl for Forrest Gump, but of course the sound is what counts. Enjoyed it Melinda!
For some reason when I hear a record is limited edition, I get really nervous and think I have to get it immediately. That is the case with Forrest Gump and I ordered the wrong thing. I have been wanting them to reissue that one for so long that I am happy regardless. You are right. The sound it what really matters and Music On Vinyl releases always sound great. Take care.
Wow, the Aerosmith was an awesome addition. 9 Lives is on my wantless as well. I love that album. I just wish they would have stuck with the original cover. I've always preferred it.
The old album cover for Nine Lives is pretty creepy but cool. I like the new cover too though. I couldn't believe I found it. I had never seen one in a record store before. Thank you and have a great upcoming weekend!
Hello Melinda. I'm going to tell a story and hope to get a response on your thoughts. I bought a CD of Jimi Hendrix called Valleys of Neptune. I discovered that it came in vinyl. I bought the vinyl and was very disappointed that they both sounded exactly the same. So I'm shy on digitally mastered works on vinyl. Your thoughts?
I do prefer analog recordings over digital but if done correctly, the digital source can sound really good. I do have a few albums that were a disappointment and sound inferior to a CD. I understand your hesitancy.
Another good one ;-) This really makes me miss the Sgt. Pepper's LHCB which I bought from an ex-DJ. He was one of the original pirate radio DJs, and the pressing he had was a pre-pressing in near-mint condition. Heck, it looked like it just came out of the shop. He was also on duty when his station played that album on air for the very first time; interestingly it was played on open reel (probably a good thing - those boats were not the most stable platform for playing vinyl lol).
Thanks for this!
Wow. Interesting story. Thanks for sharing.
@@MelindaMurphy The cool thing was that his collection was mostly albums he'd been gifted by record companies and artist themselves, and which he'd rarely if ever played either professionally or for pleasure. So I got Blue Notes, white label pressings (test pressings of the final product with only a blank, white label), and I've forgotten what else.
Looking forward to your further adventures in vinyl ;-)
@@denniseldridge2936 very impressive vinyl! I rarely see those kinds of treasures. Thank you and have a great weekend!
I was talking to Beatle Brad a couple of days ago, and he was saying the coloured vinyl Wings Over America didn't sound as good as the reissue from a couple of years ago. You might want to check in with Brad on that one as I have only the original release from the 70's. I saw Billy Squire back in the early 80's when he opened for Foreigner. The guy really rocks and put on an outstanding set.
That would have been an amazing concert Paul. I love them both. Billy Squire is underrated. I think for $50 my 70's issue of Wings Over America will do just fine. I just love these colored vinyl pressings that McCartney has been putting out there. That kind of money can buy a really cool record that I don't already own. Thanks Paul. I hope you have had a wonderful vacation.
@@MelindaMurphy I'm with you on that one M. I can't justify paying that kind of money for something I've already got just to get the coloured vinyl. Too much else to spend my money on like anniversary editions of Beatles albums. LOL
Just discovered your vids.. Nice job.. Squier definitely rocks!.. My original sounds fantastic because I think Bob Ludwig mastered it.. I wonder how that Japanese press sounds.. I used to play the hell out of this record too.. We used to buy the records, then record them to cassette for the car and home and just put the vinyl away.. Anyway, had no idea about the McCartney records.. I might have to purchase that Amoeba one..
The magic of blank cassettes! 😀My US press of Billy Squire was really good. The Japanese press is a great sounding press that has no pops in the quiet spots of the record. It also looks cool and has a great insert that I forgot to show. Lol. No complaints about the US press. It rocks! Have a great weekend!
Great to see you :") . You sure do have some great items right off the bat wow . The Paul vinyl are just great and so cool 45 too. I do have the new Paul WOA vinyl … I do like it but I don't think there is any difference in this one and the one that came out a few years ago on 180 G. !!!!! I did like your great story and you just cant go wrong with Japanese vinyl yes :"). And I do like the other lp you showed . A lot of great vinyl and 45 in this video thank you for showing it all . Take care .
Ps I am so sorry that people are giving you a thumbs down . WOW that is not nice . And you know you do a good job on all of your video .!!!! It dose hurt my feelings win people do this on my channel . Congratulations on you getting so many subs well done :" ))) !!!!
Thanks for letting me know about the Wings Over America. I am content to just stick with the original I have unless it drops in price. It sure is pretty though. I'm not really sure what the thumbs downs are about. I don't ever say anything controversial. I certainly won't let it bring me down. The thumbs downs have more to do with them than it does me. Have a great weekend Beatle Brad. It has been great watching you look stronger and feel better. Our Lord is so good.
Hola Melinda, como estas? Loved the movie Forrest Gump. A few years ago I go a CD of The instrumental music from the movie. It was really incredible. Music makes a movie and they did a great job with that score. I was at a flea market recently, bought no records as they asked too much for junk, but I did find a set of Nipper the dog bookends, that was cool. I have not seen that Prince store at the Minneapolis Airport. Maybe it’s not in the Delta terminal. If it is I will have to look for it next time I pass through. Enjoy your music. Steve
Nipper bookends sound really great! I have wanted the Forrest Gump Soundtrack for the longest time. I'm so happy to find the reissue. I would love to check out that Prince store too. My husband usually flies Delta buy maybe he didn't on this last trip. Take care Steve.
Hi Melinda, new subcriber here from sunny south africa,I really enjoy your channel and have learned alot about records. My wish list is growing every week! Think I will ask my husband to buy me the Forest Gump soundtrack for my birthday next week! Looking forward to your next video!
Thank you. It is great that we can share the same passion for great music no matter how far apart we are. I hope you get the Forrest Gump Soundtrack. Happy Birthday in advance.
By the way, according to Billy Squire, I expected so much from him in the early 80's. It’s a pity that it wasn’t revealed, this tulip)
You mentioned live albums which you recommended, I'll have to check out those two live Paul McCartney albums because I've been getting into Beatles solo stuff recently (as for Paul's solo stuff so far I have original pressings of McCartney, Ram, Band On The Run, and Wings Greatest, as well as a compilation called Wingspan on CD) Have you ever heard Live At Leeds by The Who? That's my favorite live album because it's the record that made me understand how good a live album could be if you haven't heard it I definitely recommend it!
I do have a really cool copy of Live at Leeds. Great album. One of the best ever live concerts. I think the Amoeba Gig is one of the best Paul McCartney live albums he's made . It sounds like you have a really good collection of McCartney solo work. You have many of the essentials. Thank you for your thoughts and take care.
Good morning Melinda!! Happy Tuesday :) Really excellent video. I absolutely love those RCA glasses, lol. You've accumulated some real gems of 45's for your jukebox....that is going to be so amazing. I saw that the Forrest Gump soundtrack was getting repressed and thought that was a great idea.....such an amazing movie with an all time classic soundtrack! I will own it someday :) Great description of Amoeba Gig....I love "I've Got a Feeling" so my ears perked up when you mentioned that song. It's always a bit disappointing when an album (especially a critically acclaimed album) gets a lackluster production....why would they re-issue that on a flimsy cover w/ a plain white inner sleeve? Come on people. Lol. At least the pressing sounds good! Awesome pickups on Squire, Prince, and Aerosmith as well, wow! I hope your summer is going great. Talk to you soon, friend!
Thank you for the kind words and my summer has been great but going way too fast.
I love prince but I don't have any. The new unreleased album looks good. I love anything Aerosmith. Joe Perry plays a great guitar.
Thank you and I got to see Aerosmith in concert 4 years ago. Joe Perry was amazing!
Very cool RCA glasses
Yes! RCA made many promotional items, all the way back to the 20s-30s. The glasses use their modern “block” logo, which replaced the famous round logo about 1967-68. I have an RCA frisbee!
@@superhet7281 thanks for the info. I didn't know anything about them. I assumed they were promotional though.
Thank you. I thought they were cool too.
Just found your channel, interesting stuff.
Thank you so much!
You don’t see Billy Squier much in the VC. I really like that album. “Lonely Is the Night” is my favorite track. I didn’t discover Billy Squier until later, and for the longest time I thought “Lonely Is the Night” was a Robert Plant solo song.
It's funny how we can get some artists mixed up sometimes. Billy Squire is one of those artists that doesn't get alot of attention anymore but he certainly had some amazing hits. Have a great weekend!
I’m a big fan of Aerosmith,I have a lot of their albums on C-D,they are all great a part from honking on Bobo, which is more blues sound,I like their more rocky side.
Agreed on the rock side. I love the early stuff but I also love Pump and Nine Lives.
Melinda Murphy if you’ve not heard permanent vacation,it’s also fantastic. I have Pandora’s box which is a three C-D box set,it’s full of their old and rare stuff.
@@stephenmkeer I do have Permanent Vacation. That was a huge hit when it came out and had some great songs on it back in the day.
Great stuff Melinda. Do any of the new live Paul albums have Calico Skies on them? I picked up that Hootie album as well. It sounds great, but agree on the underwhelming packaging. All the 2000s Prince releases are pretty darn good. I recommend Musicology and 3121 which came out at the same time as the Planet Earth reissue. Great pickup on Nine Lives... I am jealous of that.
Hi Brian. The Amoeba Gig has Calico Skies on it. I love the entire album. I do have Musicology and I think it is great too. I will be trying to get all of the Prince albums. He never made a bad one. Take care.
Melinda Murphy 😮 I need that One then. My fav Paul song.
I've got the promo display for 9 lives runs on a d size battery looks like album cover the cat spins very rare
Oh wow. That's cool. Sounds like a very cool promo!
Great Rod Stewart and Righteous Brothers singles for your jukebox. So far out of all Paul McCartney reissues, i've only bought one. I didn't pick up any of these live albums. I'm really looking forward to Unplugged and Run Devil Run. They must be on the reissue program at some point. Even though i'm not much of a fan of Prince, i admit. he was a really good guitar player. Since only a couple of notes can lead to a copyright lawsuit, i wonder how much lyrics you can borrow until it breaches the copyright. That Hootie album includes a big lyric loan from a Bob Dylan Song and at least on a cd version there's no mention of it at all. It makes me wonder if there was any rights cleared for it? Aerosmith did clear Frank Zappa for a use of couple of lines.
Pasi
I'm not really sure how that all works. Hootie and the Blowfish must have had permission I would think. Who knows. Lol
Great stuff in there. Is that a Beatles pin or an actual 45 that sucker is huge lol. I too love Billy Squire never see his stuff on vinyl. In the Dark is my fav song by him period and would actually make my all time top 100 somgs of all time. That Prince album is pretty. And i love him as well all his stuff is just great as a talent. Are you looking for specifics for your jukebox?
I am desperately trying to find Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear the Reaper and Burning For You. I would also love to find Lady by Styx. So far, I have only looked for them in the wild but if all else fails, thank goodness for discogs. 😄 Thank you and I hope you have a great week. Btw, your posts on Facebook are always so funny.
@@MelindaMurphy Discogs is great for tracking down all sorts of things that might not be so easy to find in the wild. I've tracked down a bunch of old Record Store Day releases there. Mostly the Garbage ones but I also found 90125 by Yes on a picture disc.
Do you like ANGEL? Check out all their albums. Their brand new one is called Risen. Enjoy your vids! Great work!
Just subscribed! I hope you didn’t pay too much for the Beatles button and ring, as there are many high-quality reproductions of that stuff. Still great to have, even if they are repros.
The Beatles pin and ring weren't overly expensive. I am certain the ring is authentic. The button probably is but I'm not an expert. They are just fun to have. Thank you so much for the sub. Take care.
Hi Melinda. I think I'm the only person left who has not seen the Forrest Gump movie. I do want to pick up the soundtrack though. Is that Paul is live from one concert or from different shows? I hear others in the vinyl community who agree with you and say the Amoeba gig is a really good sounding pressing. So crank that baby up and dance away. lol All the best to you.
You must see Forrest Gump asap! I'm not sure about Paul is Live being from several different concerts. Interesting question. The Amoeba Gig sounds great. It is such a great live album. Paul McCartney does make me want to dance. Lol. Take care!
Steven Tyler is a rock god and it doesn't matter what other people like.....and I am looking for the very Clash album behind you. I like to try and find before I break down and over pay on Discogs or Ebay besides hunting is part of the fun.
I agree that I would much rather find something in the wild. That is so much more fun. I hope you find London Calling soon. Take care.
Cool thrift store finds. So John Lennon is now Paul's Sheep dog. lol :) I never cared for Hootie and the Blowfish. I felt in the 1990s that popular music started to decline and has been going down hill to where it is today. For the most part today the best music is not found in the mainstream. I found a very good playable copy of the Billy Squire album at the thrift store. At the time it came out I was very young and between jobs so I did not have the money at that time to buy it and besides the hits songs were played heavy rotation on the radio. In my years of thrift store vinyl shopping it was an opportunity to pick up albums that I could not afford back in the day are artist I passed up on. For various reasons the pickings at thrift stores has gotten slimmer but I got on the ground floor of it early on and have been able to put a nice collection together.
The 90's werr the beginning of the decline for me as well. I know others would disagree but I with you on that. Even the most common records have went up in price now so it is good to have a great collection from thrift stores from the past.
The best music by newer artist are not in mainstream music but what you find in fishing the internet. :)
Do you own anything by Yes? I have a few albums from them.
I love the Paul McCartney Amoeba Gig album, I just got it last week. I have "Paul is Live" in my wish list, let me know your thoughts. Enjoy!
I enjoy Paul is Live as well. Both are great! I'm glad I bought both and hopefully it will be available for a while so you pick it up too. Thanks and have a great week.
Do you watch the David lee Roth show Melinda..I’m guessing you do..it’s very entertaining
I have only heard bits of it on RUclips. It would have to be entertaining. I will have to check out a full show some time. Thanks for reminding me about it. Take care.
Kindly suggest a Doctor's scheme of two Records
Thank you for commenting Hemant! 😀
I really thought the big surprise at the end was going to be a limited edition Japanese press of White Feathers complete with OBI strip. Oh well. Aerosmith is good too;-)
Haha! Somebody is sending me a 45 of Too Shy for my jukebox. I immediately thought of you. Lol. There would be nothing wrong with a Japanese press of Kajagoogoo. 😎
Of course it will end up in your jukebox...right??? I drive for a living and hear Too Shy all the time on the 80's stations we have here in town.
@@peartfaldo it will probably be in my jukebox. I do still like that song. I rarely hear it. I am usually listening to classic rock.
Melinda, have you ever purchased an lp from the sound of vinyl?
I value your opinion. If you have, what’s your opinion? BTW I have and I just wanted your thoughts. 😊
@@michaelturner2831 thanks for your question. I have definitely browsed thru the website. I honestly don't remember if I have ordered from them or not. I try to buy almost all my new release records from our local record store. I am so sorry I'm not more help than that.
Melinda Murphy thank you. I purchased an lp from them. It was colored vinyl, the audio quality was poor at best, there were plastic burrs sticking out of both sides of the lp. There was also plastic shavings in the lp. I had to carefully clean it. The lp was more plastic than vinyl. As you know there is a big difference between plastic and vinyl. The pro, the lp was good in color, the sleeve was cover was also good. I won’t be purchasing anymore from this outlet. If by some chance you pick one of these, let me know your thoughts. Thank you!
@@michaelturner2831 I will let you know. Thanks for the heads up about the quality.
Hi Melinda. And you are not as simple as it seemed to me at first glance.
Cut a chip and you do not have a bad musical taste.
This is me so grumbling, girl and vinyl records. This is nonsense.
I liked the previous videos more. Where there was more psychedelia and underground.
Smile more often, you have a charming smile. Everything else is bullshit.
Love these new additions and the shout out to JTB’s Groovy Record Room (plus representing with the T-Shirt😎)
He’s going to be at ROCKNPOD in Nashville August 10th!
I’m driving down from Ohio, and it’d be great to see you there (plus-there’s more Vinyl vendors, too!)
Check it out at www.nashvillerocknpodexpo.com/
I know. I would love to go to that. Jason always has wonderful Japanese pressings of my favorite albums so he has one of my favorite record stores.
Black vinyl is usually the way to go.
I agree but the colored vinyl they make today is much better than it used to be. I have some really great sounding records that are on colored vinyl. It just depends on the mastering and the quality they put into it. You can never go wrong with a beautiful black vinyl though.
@@MelindaMurphy What are your thoughts on picture discs? I just like them for the novelty.
WELL THE DESEASE IS SPREADING!!! MY DAUGHTER GOT A TURN TABLE AND NOW SHE'S OUT VINAL HUNTING AND TODAY MY WIFE AND I WENT VINAL HUNTING AND DROPPED 60.00 BUCKS, WOULD HAVE BEEN 80.00 BUT WE WERE NEW TO THIS STORE AND THE OWNER KNOCKED OFF 20.00. LUCKY FOR ME!!!!! WIFE GOT SOME OF HER WANTED ALBUMS. WE BOTH WATCH YOUR VIDEOS AND ENJOY YOU ALOT!!!!
I really appreciate that you both watch my videos together and that the family is enjoying this fantastic (although expensive) hobby. Happy hunting and have a great weekend!
nine lives last good aerosmith record
You're probably right on that. Nine Lives is really good.
nothing compares 2 prince
Great way of putting it!
New subscriber. Enjoy your passion for LPs! My understanding about colored vinyl - growing up in that era - was that it was a novelty and not better sound. I noticed a few other comments about this. Fun to have, but I think the traditional black is more suited to better sound quality. Of course there will always be surface noise. Just saying... Great discussions.
Thank you so much. You can never go wrong with black vinyl but I have bought several of the Paul McCartney reissues on colored vinyl and they sound excellent. I am sure there are instances where that is not the case though. Thank you for joining in and sharing your thoughts and also for the kind words. Have a great week.
@@MelindaMurphy Great story...My sister won a juke box from a radio station years ago. I turned on the radio in her old Ford Pinto & answered the quiz question in her house. The Juke box came loaded with 45's. Fond memories.
@@hship9206 wow! How exciting that must have been!
