Really appreciated this review. I just leased (with the option to buy) a JL 2.0 and I love it. But I’m weary of the long term investment simply because it is a 4 cylinder.
Now that you've had the 2L for about 2 years, what's your opinion? Jeep just announced you can get the extreme recon package and the 2L. Before it was restricted to only the 392 (I wish!!) or the 3.6 etorque. I'm deciding between the 3.6 or the 2.0
The v6 version is pretty reliable. They've been using it in a shit load of their vehicles, including the RAM commercial white vans that get a lot of miles put on them.
The Tigershark 4-bangers are actually very reliable, statistically. The tiny turbos seem to do okay too. However, anything Fiat-derived larger than 1.8 with a turbo should be avoided.
And it's still a soft top version. I would also save on paying the extra $3k cost of the 4cyl/auto package over the V-6 with a manual, but that's just a drop in the bucket on a $56k Jeep.

The worst thing about a jeep is no power. A V8 or V6 Turbo Option would have been the correct direction. Have a 2017 JK and can't stand having to floor it to pass, get on the highway etc...
@@quaranjones2359 Actually if you have AEV install a 5.7L Hemi your gas mileage will go up. The jeep is under powered. Not enough power is just as bad as too much power. The problem with the engine upgrade is the 20k to 30k cost. Jeep should have offered it.
SWAT spence they are a company that equips them to go off road. How would them putting a V8 in a Jeep with more weight and nobby tires going to make it more efficient. The wrangler has the aerodynamics of a refrigerator. Chrysler would have to pay a gas guzzler tax if they put a v8 in the wrangler. Not once in history have they ever put a V8 in a wrangler. If anything I would recommend putting the good old straight 6 back in it. It was a million times more reliable and put out ample power.
@@quaranjones2359 There have been a little over 2mil Jeep JKs produced. A lot of them may never hit a trail? They have increased the size of the Jeep, now they have added a pickup for towing. These changes have made Jeeps larger and heavier than they have been in the past. My point from owning one of them is they do not have enough power for what is being asked of them. Jeep TJ 3092 - 3857 lb Jeep JK 3,760 - 4,340 lb Jeep JL 3,955 - 4,455 lb Jeep Gladiator 4,650 - 5,072 lb 5.7L Jeeps get better gas mileage than 3.6L Jeeps. Correct power for the application. Obviously 6.4L swaps add more power than is needed and result in less mileage. It is a balance, right now the current weight is under powered. The straight six is a good power plant, my guess fazed out for EPA reasons. And a V8 may never happen for EPA reasons. Doesn't make the EPA correct.
If you use these off road more torque at low rpm is needed definitely especially if you have a heavy Jeep. I’m putting a L83 V8 and a 8L90 trans in my Jeep JK
It’s a great motor in Alfa especially with ZF 8 spd. Start-Stop can be deadly pulling out in cross traffic as takes near 2 seconds to start and power up and needs that partial hybrid. We Giulia owners found unplugging the hood open sensor defeats the start-Stop. But I got the ZR2 for suv fun.
@@JonBecker81 you probably paid $500 more for your car for this feature that saves nothing. You will pay more for batteries, starters and shortened engine life. Just say no once and shut it off permanently
If the Ford Ranger can tow 7500 lb with a 2.3L bi-turbo, there is no reason why the Gladiator is not offered with the 2.0L turbo and have decent towing capacity.
I remember when Toyota used to offer the 2.7L 4 cylinder engine on the Toyota Sienna when the 2011 came out. Now I probably know why they eventually stopped putting that engine in the Sienna. Darn thing must be as slow as a 1983 Toyota Tercel.
I think someone like 5 Star Tuning will have a package out to make the HP rating on this turbo comparable to the 3.0 diesel that's coming soon.
Jeep TJ
3092 - 3857 lb
Jeep JK
3,760 - 4,340 lb
Jeep JL
3,955 - 4,455 lb
Jeep Gladiator
4,650 - 5,072 lb
5.7L Jeeps get better gas mileage than 3.6L Jeeps.
2.0 the best for my Sahara unlimited , love it soooo much 😍😍😍
About to buy the top end rubicon in red aswell.. asking price with 6000km on it is still 56000€...
Good review.
Sarah version is the one get if you never go off road
Over 56K for a Jeep? Not in a million years!
I think you mean 56K for a Fiat. NO WAY
Resale
Awesome review 👍
Wanted the manual so this was not an option. Let’s hope that Jeep always has the option to stay with a manual transmission.
Sofyan, when is your Bmw 3 series (dark blue) , x4 competition, and 8 series review drop out.
this is the new jeep.
4-cyl engine from Fiat, is that a plus?
Nice review.. mpg not bad for a vehicle with 36inches.
Great review Soy Bean.
If you use these off road more torque at low rpm is needed definitely especially if you have a heavy Jeep. I’m putting a L83 V8 and a 8L90 trans in my Jeep JK
4 cylinder or not it’s sexy looking.
For 2020 the 2.0 is standard and the v6 is $1000 more. I work at Jeep.
Not for long...
The 2020 are already on the lot, not like it’s a secret.

@@jjchockey too late this is Jim your boss. Turn in your polo shirt immediately.
You can always just turn it off. It’s muscle memory for me. Push the start button then push the auto stop button.
@@JonBecker81 you probably paid $500 more for your car for this feature that saves nothing. You will pay more for batteries, starters and shortened engine life. Just say no once and shut it off permanently
Darren doesn’t it pretty much come standard on just about everything now? Yeah it’s just a pain in the ass.
Sofyan, always a smile when he steps on it 👍👍😁😁. 4cyl...back to the future...The Willys 👍👍👍😎. Like the new rating system👍👍👍
The V6 sounds better, I will skip the soft top and go for the hard top. But it's going to be on the top of my list
Consumer Reports gives it very low reliability !
Great 👍🏼 review!
If the Ford Ranger can tow 7500 lb with a 2.3L bi-turbo, there is no reason why the Gladiator is not offered with the 2.0L turbo and have decent towing capacity.
Another Jeep Wrangler!
I like Sofians door shutting sound critique. However, I have no idea if that speaks at all to the build quality of the vehicle
I remember when Toyota used to offer the 2.7L 4 cylinder engine on the Toyota Sienna when the 2011 came out.
Now I probably know why they eventually stopped putting that engine in the Sienna. Darn thing must be as slow as a 1983 Toyota Tercel.
DSTY repeat after everyone else... TURBOCHARGED
I think someone like 5 Star Tuning will have a package out to make the HP rating on this turbo comparable to the 3.0 diesel that's coming soon. Since gas is cheaper than diesel in California I believe I would take this 2.0 turbo over the diesel but I would rather have the proven 3.6 gas with a 6 speed manual.
Great review.
I’m still waiting for the return of the Toyota FJ worthy of the name and reputation.
Love my wrangler. I DD a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with about 70k miles on it!
Over 50k for a FIAT!! NOPE
Is jeep wrangler same frame as before. Jus ownership
Jeep needs some competition, the prices are insane
This dashboard is way better than the Bronco’s. I rather look at this one than the other one. Bronco’s seems too dull.
