    Humans also came to Thedas from another place, even though much earlier than kossith. That means that some of humans might have stayed there and now have civilization which can be more advanced than that of Thedas. It is weird you haven't mentioned that

      Kate Senatskaya I didn't really consider that. It's possible, though. But, if I remember correctly, humans came from Par Vollen

      This is what I'd like to believe, that wherever humans originally came from, there is still a civilization and maybe a really powerful one and they've had their eyes on The.

    There is only one The ______, that I care about and that's The Grey Warden AKA The Hero of Fereldan.... Such a great character.
    Any ways Kool video, here take my like.

      Cool joke bro, I love mine to bits but The Hero of Ferelden is such a non-character outside the context of Origins that unlike Hawke and soon with Dreadwolf, the Inquisitor, they'll never be relevant in any tangible way.
      Except maybe finding a cure for the taint off screen because without it... Ferelden is going to be without an heir once they and/or Alistair start feeling the Call.

    I agree with Self Inversion regarding the use of "Executors" -> the word does not mean "to execute someone" but rather to execute an action/will of others, etc. Also, the term "Higher Powers" suggest godlike figures to me in the figurative sense of the word. Patrick Weekes once said in an interview that while you can view the game through different perspectives (e.g. building up a political organisation, war between good and evil, etc.), one of the primary aspects Bioware sought to convey was the notion of examining faith. Thus the idea of "Higher Powers" referring to deities or godlike figures, possibly the Evanuris or even maybe the Forgotten Ones or the Titans, would tie in nicely with the overarching concept of faith, its role and whether to believe/not to believe.
    I confess, I do not know much about the Dragon Age world and its lore, but I also find the theory on the Titans working away in the background with their agents a fascinating one. Maybe that is where this is going?
    Some other great videos I found worth watching were:
    ruclips.net/video/TnJgYIovg5s/видео.html
    ruclips.net/video/PMmganz8wiQ/видео.html (both vids on Solas + Elven Pantheon)
    ruclips.net/video/V9_1W23g4GQ/видео.html (Titan theory)

    Wasn't a queen of Antiva found dead with six swords in her back?

    This is just a minor point but it could prove more important later on. (Also my comment kind of escalated so sorry about the giant wall of text.)
    I think 'executor' here is not analogous to 'executioner' but rather refers to the less archaic use of the word which is 'person who carries out task'. (Where I am from they are pronounced slightly differently, In legal terms, an executor (of a will) is obliged to ensure the details of a persons will is carried out. I'm not a lawyer, and probably not the best person to explain this concept, but when my grandfather died my father was one of the executors to his will, and when a good friend of mine's mother died he was an executor of his mother''s will. It's possible that bioware chose the word 'executor' specifically to reference both meanings but it's hard to say with what little details we have.
    Now I suspect that the executors are working on the behalf of someone powerful who has died or is otherwise out of action. The evanuris come to mind, specifically Mythal because she was said be 'born of the sea' and is known to have been murdered, she is also known to have surviving loyal followers. The other evanuris could have had their own similar surviving groups of loyal followers, and they could be carrying out their will in their absence, it's hard to say.
    The kossith also come to mind for the reasons you bring up, and honestly I'd prefer it were them than the evanuris due to the fact we know next to the nothing about who they 'really' were other than a small fan theory seeds given to us by The Iron Bull and the odd codex. It'd be cool if DA4 was all about the executors and kossith in the same way DAI was all about the evanuris and the veil.
    Regardless of who they really are and what their agenda is, they really help expand the physical scope of the dragon age setting beyond just thedas and make the world (planet... plane???) seem fresh and mostly undiscovered.I'm super excited to more of the unknown in the future, who knows where we'll be in future possible games.

      Self Inversion You know, I almost added in what you said about the meaning of the word "executor." I decided not, but I think you're right in that they execute the will of those across the sea. & I like what you said about the next game. I doubt they will be the main villains, but we should certainly see more of them.

    I've thought that the Executors were the rumor of who killed the Queen of Antiva, a mysterious organization of unknown power and influence. When Varric writes Hard in Hightown, he needed an antagonist force so The Executors. The symbol may be of Varric's invention as a reference to the assassination. The real Executors used Varric's symbol because they wanted to be clear who sent the letter. That is my off the cuff head canon now

  • @lewisbough6109
    @lewisbough6109 7 лет назад +6

    I thought it might be eluding to the kossith too but after hearing you read the reports about someone walking into skyhold without being seen it made me think that maybe the executors have spirits who can make people forget them, like Cole, in their ranks which makes me want to believe the executors are an order of "good spirits" if only because it sounds epic but then again what kind of power would they answer to?

    The only candidates for the Powers Across the Sea that I'm aware of are the Kossith or the Voshai. That's assuming they aren't meant to be a brand new group we've never heard of.

  • @MrsQueenSize
    @MrsQueenSize Год назад +1

    Well, there is no data that Kossith have a separated non-Qunari civilization. Iron Bull said that Kossith was the name for people before Qun.
    We know that Voshai ships had humans and dwarves on them, but they came from a different direction.
    I hope this will be revealed in DA 4

    The world of Thedas (so far) has shown us a sea under ground as well (Descent). Just to give you even more to ponder.
    Also, at least one of the phrases used by the Executors appear else where.
    The comment about a "caterpillar in a forest" was used by Yavanna in Silent Grove.
    Yavanna was one of Flemeth's daughters, a witch of the wilds, in Antiva.
    The Antivian Queen, Madrigal (also mentioned in Hard in Hightown), consorted with an unnamed antivian witch of the wilds, and later in life was mysteriously assassinated--found in the woods with four blades in her chest. (One being a replica of a BLade of Mercy --the blade Hessarian used to spare Andraste further agony on the pyre.)
    History does not agree on whether or not The Executors took credit for the assassination or were merely blamed.
    I suspect the group is physically closer to Thedas than they let on, though their "higher power" may be over one of the seas.
    Personal theory:
    If we were to assume that the Qunari, as a society, know more about the creation and history of Thedas than everyone else....
    And if we were to assume that Thedas was built with the bodies of titans, bound by magic....
    And, because of that, the Qunari see Thedas as a ticking timebomb, full of peons fighting with each other to buy more time before the Titan inevitably wake.....
    It could be that the "Higher Power" is the Titans below the underground sea.
    And that their actions in Thedas were stealthy attempts to undermine those continuing the suppression of the Titans.
    As such they have had run-ins with Yavanna and prolly Flemeth herself.

      @TheKingdomEntertainment  7 лет назад +1

      Baader Meinhof That thing about Yavanna and Madrigal is amazing!! I wish I had found that sooner. I imagine Varric took some from that conspiracy in the Hard in Hightown novel, but it's the Executers themselves that use the caterpillar phrase. Blah!!! So much to think about!! XD

    You didn't mention the knowledge that they share with us, A Master Demon-Slaying Rune. It makes me think that are A race of Demon Slayers, and I think that Solas is going to do something stupid in the next game, that'll draw the attention of them.

    Okay, so I know this video is old but I still like watching it. Your theories make me think. On the when the Executors say for now they are not the enemy. I think we will finally see them in the last Dragon Age game, because really we put all this time into fixing Thedas and in the last game although there is peace finally across Thedas, then we will finally see the powers across the sea.

    This kind of videos remind me why I love DA series. Keep this up! Though I also have no solid ideas about who the Executioners are, but I think the game just lacks more codex entries to reveal more information on that matter. Maybe it's a foreshadow for the next game, which could be quite interesting.

    What do you think about the Executors actually being the Voshai? If you're unfamiliar with the name, they are a group of people that live across the ocean, and have had some amounts of trade with the abandoned Anderfell city of Laysh. (source: pg 132 of "World of Thedas" v2).

      The Kingdom That is very possible. Sadly, I'm not as familiar with the Kossith as I would like. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the grey, horned people of the Qun originate from the Kossith? Also, one thing that I found interesting was the mention of all the ship captains being Dwarven, "implying that they held a place of profound power in their society..."
