Hello, everyone! I'm Cole from The Kingdom, and today we're talking about how games open and begin. We look at some significant examples and discuss how good a job they did. I have always had a theory that Blood magic can burn away the blight because blood has the essence of life contained within and would thus be anathema to the Void. Like any source of magic, it had vile expressions and that sullied its reputation. A combination of Lyrium and blood magic could be used to cleanse blighted lands and people. The Dillema being, the most efficent way to maximize blood magic potency is to cause immense agony in its extraction, and guess what, if the Chantry adopted it, they would swiftly become as depraved if not worse than Tevinter. The discipline and compassion needed to use such power beneficently would immense, and i could only see it being done by mages guided by spirits of justice or compassion. But then we have all seen what happened to Anders, and Blood magic can interfere and alter spirits into demons so that is just as risky as the Lyrium addled zealots who want to put everything they don't understand to the sword.

    There's no peaceful resolution here. Interaction between the darkspawn and other races spreads the blight turning people mad. Even if they stay segregated, the dark spawn race persists through the abduction, violation, and corruption of women. The only way for their to be peace is for the darkspawn to withdraw into the deep roads and slowly let themselves age out of existence.

    "Having choice is not the same as having control" is such a poignant statement that encapsulates why dragon age 2 is my personal favorite of the series. I love that you have such an effect on your companions, but that Kirkwall still crumbles around you. There are some things in life you just can't control. Kirkwall and Hawke's stories are both tragedies. And playing through them is an incredible experience. You did everything right and still lost is an awful feeling. But it's one worth telling stories about because tragedies like that are part of life.

  • @WynneL

    Respectful hard disagree. Anders waited for nightfall. The Chantry was always *deserted* then. "Hundreds of innocent people" sounds like absolute nonsense. I count 7 in that video; 5 Templars, 1 Chantry Sister, and 1 Cleric. Debris could have killed more, but at night, we're still looking at dozens at most. This plus the demon idea sounds like copium. I find it far more terrible, and fascinating, that *Anders* makes this choice, consciously. Demons taunt, transform, then fight to the death. Anders quietly accepts his execution at your hands. No demon does that. I refused his dodgy last quest, then killed him in shock my first time. But now I think Anders deserves to have to witness, and live in, the nightmare he created.

  • @WynneL
    @WynneL 18 дней назад

    I feel you, but the problem isn't that Hawke keeps losing, or that Varric/Aveline aren't LIs. It's that often, your choices don't matter even SLIGHTLY. You can't postpone, sidestep, alter any colors. You can't save two of your family members no matter what you do, even to the point that one survives but no longer has the use of their legs after that ogre fight. Orsinomonster ALWAYS happens because EA wanted another boss battle. A lot of DA2 could've been better by the smallest of inches. Why couldn't Friend Anders, for instance, have tried to empty the chantry of people? Then you didn't have the desired effect, but still had *an effect at all.* The world SHOULD feel bigger than you--but not like two forks in the road will always lead to the exact same view.

    Tranquility is described as being cut off from the fade but Tranquil act like on in a dream like state. What if tranquility isn't cutting you off from the fade but fully submerging you into the Fade. You can't cast magic because you are numb to the feeling of it like when your limb goes to sleep after sitting/sleeping on it for too long and are unable to distinguish it from the Fade around them. They can't feel emotion because their brain is too busy to try and interpret the world around them like in a dream to express their emotions!

  • @andrasmiklostoth3197

    First of all, as a Warden Bhelen is a better choice. Whoever puts up more soliders against the dark spawn tide should be the winner for a warden, and that’s probably Bhelen. Of course you should care about the effect of your choices somewhat, however the dwarves are essentially a lost cause as you said. They clearly need a change, and that’s Bhelen. As to him being a tyrant: all kings are tyrants. Them being nice merely masks the nature their position. No truly nice person would acquiesce to becoming king. Harrowmont might make you feel better about your choice, but unfortunately that doesn’t help any character in game. Unfortunately in a desperate survival situation which the dwarves are in, a talented snake has a better chance to save them. You can’t worry about being nice while saving your entire population.

    The elves are not natural to the planet. They are interdimensional aliens, who invaded. We only have Solas' word what things were like before, and he's tainted the history in Inquisition and Trespasser by marking sites he contaminated with murals.We can't trust any Inquisition or Trespasser lore due to a broken chain of evidence. Furthermore prior to Qunari, the elves had the weakest genetics of all races. Not something seen in natural species of the planet. "Elves came down from the sky to war with the Earth" They broke free of the Fade, it wasn't here before. The Veil closed the dimensional portals, and Solas is attempting to reopen them. Only Dwarves and Humans are natural to Thedas. Elves are invaders to be driven back, and Qunari are artificial. Dwarves have spirits and demons not associated with the Fade or Veil as seen in Caridin's traps, Ortan Thaig, Gangue, etc.

    Sadly I don’t think machinima tools are ever coming back in any mainstream way. Machinimas are rarely made anymore and when they are, they don’t blow up as much as they used to in the 2000s. Plus machinima is pretty much A PC thing nowadays and devs don’t feel the need to make tools for a minority of players who will figure it out anyway. These days most people only want photo mode anyway. I think GTA V might be the last of its kind in this regard sadly.

Because as far as where Arlathan was ripped out of the ground (if you are correct about the Black City being Arlathan which was uprooted physically and sealed into the Fade,) we have a general idea of where that was, and it was far away from the Frostbacks: Arlathan was somewhere in the Arlathan Forest which got its name from the city, in the eastern part of what is today part of the Tevinter Imperium, bordering on the western edge of Antiva

    Looking at the argument for determining how powerful demons are, I’m zeroing in on the idea that more demons of more complex emotions have more territory in the Fade. I think that’s what actually determines power level. We see weak and strong spirits of all types in each game. So a Rage Demon that’s born of someone’s childhood grudge would be far weaker than a Rage Demon that encompasses say… tortured Mages of a Circle? So Pride demons are typically more powerful because there’s a lot of complexity that creates Pride. Looking at Solas’s friend, the Spirit of Wisdom, it became a pretty powerful Pride demon likely because of the knowledge it represented and the territory it held in the Fade. So we see a bunch of fear demons of varying strength throughout Inquisition but then we see the big one, Nightmare. I think that an entity that represents the fears and horrors related to the Blight would of course be something immensely powerful and that would hold a lot of territory. While the concept of the Blight is simple, the fears of an entire continent over generations of pain would certainly birth something complex and powerful. IDK That’s my interpretation of the complex = power comment

    I had alot of problems with Andromeda, but the general neglect of ship armaments and neglecting the possibility of a hostile species was kinda ridiculous. The first contact war was not because of armed ships, its because humans had been actively turning on mass relays which was against council law (its in the codex) since humans hadnt been encountered the turians didnt negotiate and just opened fire. The normandy could take on a cruiser (or a collecter cruiser with the Thanix Cannon) The Tempest has an IES stelth system, the power requirements are alot for that, saying it would be to much of a power drain to add weapons isnt a case to be made when it has the stelth system. The arks i understand (to a point) but the other ships like the tempest its not a good argument 😅

    • @TheKingdomEntertainment
      @TheKingdomEntertainment Месяц назад

      Turian ships were far less likely to open fire had the Alliance ships not been armed. They were mistaken for immediately hostile. The activating of relays is just what got the turians' attention. And the point stands that weapons would just slow the Tempest down. It would always be better off evading than fighting. And I think I talk about this more in my lore video for the Initiative, but they didn't neglect the possibility of hostile species. They had plans and the means to fight if absolutely necessary, but the Scourge did extensive damage to the Nexus, and they lost a lot of their resources - and lost a lot of people to the exiles. The fact that the exiles exterminated the kett on Kadara shows they were ready and able to bring the pain. The Initiative was just doing everything within it's power to not have a misunderstanding like the First Contact War.

    • @RoryohZERO
      @RoryohZERO Месяц назад

      @TheKingdomEntertainment I disagree. It's outlined well that it was specifically the activation of relays. In regards to how prepared the initiative was, not having armed ships above fighters is terrible. Even the alliance has exploration ships that have armed escorts. Weapons wouldn't slow the tempest down drastically, having a main gun wouldn't hinder the ship. I'm not saying all the systems a mainline frigate would have, but at the very leased a main gun. It wouldn't slow the ship down enough to affect it's ability to maneuver and evade.

    • @RoryohZERO
      @RoryohZERO Месяц назад

      @TheKingdomEntertainment I can see what they tried to do, what I'm saying is that it was foolish. Perhaps they meant to build defensive warships later as they had all the schematics for them in on the nexus.. but its a major writing oversight to me, several justifications are either pure speculation or outright make no sense. I hope for the next game Bioware does better with story and charecters. Hopefully a return to the miliy way while connecting MEA as well.. but we will see.

    Theory; Ghilan'nain had multiple Horrors of Hormak-like sites and the Kossith/Qunari's race were created in such a place. The Tevinter Imperium took much of the ancient elves after they sacked Arlathan. So perhaps they took the Qunari that were left in such a place. One of the Mosaics in Inquisition shows one or more magisters overlooking the transport of a dozen chained Qunari. Perhaps they found the Qunari in the south, in the Korcari Wilds, and transported them north over their highway. Some of the Qunari escaped, sailed north and Koslun gave the savages a new purpose after a few generations. The ones that didn't escape got sacrificed by the magisters sidereal to get enough power to break into the Fade physically (again from a mosaic)

The ideal scenario for me is that we'll get a choice of whose resources and help to use to get rid of her. Ben-Hassrath's, to bring the Antaam back to the fold, or the Tevene Siccari, to kill Rasaan and decimate the Antaam from within.
