Every single time I stumble upon one of your videos I learn everything I need and you answer all the dumb questions my brain comes up with
Not gonna lie bro, I totally dig the background music lol great vid 👍
WHAT IS LOVE BABY DONT HURT ME!
Thanks for sharing this video, this was the most in depth proper demonstration I've found. Thanks!
good info, attention to the details I would have not lowered car to tighten bolts. Glad I know now thanks.
In the 2022 i found this kit in my garage minus the lower tie bar. Thanks for the tutorial! Doing this to my civic later today!
Awesome! Love watching your videos on the ek things mint
That moment when the 📦 arive at the front door 🤤💯🔥🤩🤩 bery good looking parts there mate
Great video man i was a little worried about bwr products but this video is changing my mind lol im really digging it!
Love trance. Nice music man
Thanks your videos helped me
oh I had to cut mine they were not coming out after trying everything you can think of. Lucky you man! love your car.
Just realized your shoes say "Flare" on the side. That's dope ;)

Fresh ctr keep up the good work yo
Dope video
Nice bro looks great..👌🏾
If i ever get a civic im definitely going to this channel in i just sub great vid in car too
I got a civic nowwww
@@Gunmaker55 I just got one too!!!
Thanks really helped.
Vibrant StreetPower Stealth. I wanted my car to look as STOCK as possible. Vibrant is the closest thin to stock and it was much quieter than my previous exhaust which was what I wanted. I was going to get Civic Type R exhaust but a lot of people said it wasn't worth it.
Mine was never replaced. Some people get lucky and get the bolt out easily. Try using stuff like WD40 or PB Blaster to loosen bolt. Also, jack up the wheel assembly or lower control arm at different heights to relieve some pressure.
Nice , keep it up
Oh okay thanks !! you should make sound clip of your exhaust,
Thanks!
Skunk2 springs with KYB AGX struts are coilovers.
I love this video its helped me out a whole lot. The suspension trick was new to me.
what are all the names of the songs you used in this video?
I think he wants us to preload the suspension. Haha I like your tutorials though. 👍
If you are afraid of it breaking, then try to spray some lubricant stuff like WD40 or PB Blaster to loosen up the stuff in the bolt's threads. Also, try to preload the car and then take off the bolt, it might help.
Thx I have the same I just don't have to rear tie bar That she said I don't need but I do want to swaybar
def sub your vids are gonna help me out big time on my ej1 build can u also explain why without a sway bar these are not effective ?
Skunk2 springs with KYB AGX struts.
Actually, all three will be a little effective without the sway bar. The LCA is lighter and stronger which is a big plus. The tie bar alone without the brace will reduce the LCA mounting points on the subframe from flexing. The subframe brace however, is complicated. If you use it without a lower tie bar, then it will become a lower tie bar itself so that will be a benefit but the main purpose of a subframe brace is to have a stronger mounting/pivot point for the sway bar to prevent tearing out.
Worlds best playlist can I get a track list
Thank you for the informative tutorial on the install. With the car on four jack stands can you also preload the suspension by placing a jack underneath the LCA, jack it up till the jack stand on the corner you are working on is no longer supporting the vehicles weight then tighten all the bolts to spec? With the jack supporting the LCA'S weight I would assume the coilover would be compressed and the rest of the bushings would be preloaded simulating as if the wheels of the car were planted on the ground. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
EXACTLY! You explained it perfectly! Good luck on your car.
@@MichaelFlare Thank you!
good video just that u have all those nice tool I think u need a new floor jack.
I want 1 2 nice
What's kamber? Lol jokes good video.
Do you have or can you make a a video on how to install harness seat belts the proper way?
Hey man I have mixed thoughts on getting an Asr or bwr subframe brace. What's your opinion and why did you choose bwr?
I think BWR and ASR both use the same aluminum 6061. I wanted to get BWR because ASR is too common; so common and popular that other brands even copied it.
Just came across this.. Great video how to do it, will be doing this myself next month as my lca bushes are f(*&^%$.. Getting Skunk2 and beaks tie bar. Have a y56 EK build on honda-tech.

What kind of power drill is that? And how much was your torque wrench?
Did you have any issues with Rear subframe brace not sitting flush against the rear subframe when tightening the bolts? And did the spacers go between the bolt and lower tie bar?
I had no problems at all. My brace was attached successfully (I think the subframe has some protruding points but the braces bolts in all the way though). Yes, spacer goes in between the two you mentioned.
Hey Michael I would appreciate it if you could help me out with a problem I am having. I currently have bwr lcas with an asr beace. I just bought the Bwr bolt and spacer kit and a beaks bar. Will I have to take off the Lcas just like you did in the video to put it on? I am having difficulty taking the bolts (Asr brace to lcas) off while the car is on the ground
You don't need to remove the lower control arm completely but you do need to remove the lower control arm to subframe bolt though. A lot of times, this bolt could be stuck very tight. Try jacking up the rear at different heights and keep trying to loosen the bolt because different height means different preload on the bolts. Don't force the bolts out with a big torque wrench or breaker bar because you might break the head off the bolts.
1. How long have u been riding on KYB AGX?
2. How is the ride quality?
3. Would you recommend them?
1. Like 50,000 miles? LOL
2. Amazing. I would either have this setup or Koni Yellow struts with Ground Control springs.
3. Yes
Should've went ASR brace or a function 7 brace with a pair of Function 7 LCA's
Iv heard some people complain about BWR and talk about how they are knockoffs of other brands etc, But I have never heard of anyone have tearout issues with them ( which is my only concern). Have the BWR subframe brace and LCA's treated you well? I plan on running the same type r sway bar setup on my EK as well and don't see the point in paying more for an ASR brace if the BWR works just as fine.
I've raced with it several times and it still seems just like the way I bought it new.
You did it right
Hey Michael, I have a question in regards to installation of the LCA's. So while installing them I did NOT tighten the bolts all the way down yet until I actually preloaded the suspension. Then I torqued them down to 40. But now my whole rear's ride height sits a lot higher than it did prior to installation. Any reasons why?
+azsianwun It seems like you did everything right. I think the new bushings has allowed the car to fully settle down yet. I could be wrong. Just drive it a few more times and see what happens.
Will this kit work with the Honda Civic Aerodeck MC2?????
We listen to the same type of music haha
Do you have a Vibrant Stealth ?
Bro u had. To get the ctr lower tie bar rare part but I got one
wait did you ever replace those bolts my em1 with 120000 miles couldn't get the bolts out
Hey, I i have a quest so I order a bwr subframe and beaks bar but like you said it wouldn't work because the screws are too short , do you think those bwr screws would work for it ??
Charles Kong Yes, I think the BWR bolt and spacer kit will work with your Beaks bar.
does anyone know the size for the longer bolts for control arm. and the 14mms for up top of the subframe
yo. I got my subframe, lower control arm and tie bar. the same as yours and ready to install it for my ep3 04. I just want to ask what kind of sway bar do I use in my ep3 to fits with that stuf?thanks
+John Bryan Rosario Any sized sway bar will fit with the BWR subframe brace.
i wanna have all three together too nice car btw but i have a whiteline rear subframe brace and i wanna put a cusco rear tie bar on it i just want to know if that possible
I'm not 100% sure but I'm very sure it's possible. You need a lower tie bar spacer kit though if you want to put them together. That's how it is most of the time.
Everything is good, but that background music and your low voice makes this video very hard to listen... please either lower music or turn it off or raise your voice. Thank you for a great video
Pretty sure that’s Wangan Midnight, hella cool. I could be wrong. (I don’t care if I’m commenting 6 years later)
Yes. Skip this video to 11:50 LOL
I have a Honda Civic four-door Ex gray stock
to put on a rear lower tie bar. is there a nut behind it? or is the bolt just threaded. its a 14mm bolt
There is no nut behind the subframe that holds the tie bar. I'm not too sure about the size of the bolt but it's just threaded through into the subframe.
Damn I'm missing the Spacer kit
Hey Michael what kind of exhaust set up are you running ??
Hey is it possible if I can get the whole setup written out step by step cause i'm planning on lowering my civic and I feel like i'm going to skip that loading the suspension step :)
Don't skip the preloading step.
at 10:13 when you are tightening the left lca up with preload. It says make sure you add the extra nut and bolt here to secure the brace more? what nut and bolt are you talking about im sorda lost on that part?
TheChrismanis1791 Look at the note bubble in the video very carefully. You'll see an arrow on the bubble pointing downwards. At the point of the arrow is where there is a hole on the brace where you need to add your own nuts and bolts to secure the brace to the subframe even more. When I installed my rear sway bar like in my other tutorial video, I had bolts going through ALL 3 HOLES. Even though the CTR rear sway bar that I have only uses two holes (top most and bottom most holes), I still used the middle hole with a bolt and nut through it to secure the brace even more firmly.
does that brand worth the pain? I mean, I never heard of it before and don't know how good it is. I'm planning to do LCA, subframe, control arms, front and rear sway bar too... I have already the strut bar and my car is an mitsubishi mirage. . .
+janky831 There's a lot of cheap brands that won't fit well or use weak material that will flex which makes it worse than OEM. You might get lucky with a good no brand one but I'm not sure.
Can you make a video on the back of your cat the gutted and bars part I'm wondering what bars are those or is it a cage
The chrome bars you see is the Miracle Crossbar with all optional bars. The blue bars you see is a 6 point roll cage. The single chrome bar in the middle of the cabin right behind the seat is a B-pillar bar.
Is all the bwr civic subframes the same ?? I cant seem to find any for my 99 civic ex coupe . Help ? Thanks .
Should be same for Civics within 1996 - 2000
when preloading can you have the wheels on the car or is it better with them off?
You can with wheel but it's better when off because there's more room.
Now I'm afraid to take the control arm bolts off cause he may break what's the best solution so something like that won't happen
hey i have a question how do you take off the bolt of the trailing arm wit out snaping the head off
luis restrepo I've heard a lot of people asking and telling me about suspension bolts snapping. Here are several things you can do and also combine them too.
1. Use PB blasters on the bolt
2. Impact wrench
3. Preload and unload the suspension at different angles and see which one relieves the most pressure on the bolts.
What type of suspension have on the car I'm getting skunk 2
Good diy vid but your wrong about that it is very important to compress the springs before tightening it to the correct ft. In this case "and many other lca manufactures" you have free spinning lca bushes that means they are not pressed in and they will spin freely to the correct possition without twisting the rubbers. In the OEM/blox/d2 etc situation your right but with these types of bushings its not necessary.
Yeah that's what I meant.
I don't know
Is there a subframe brace on a 94-97 accord? Only can find tie bars and lcas thanks in advance
I just tried looking for it and I can't find it either so I'm assuming there isn't a subframe brace for your car. Sorry.
I love your playlist!! Be my friend?😊
Hi Mike,...awesome video man 😊. What do you think of eBay lca and tie bar kits? I found a kit on eBay thats identical to yours from China 😊. Also, if I snap my lca bolts when trying to remove them, would I need nuts as well as new bolts when reassembling the lca's?
I don't recommend bad quality LCA parts. I know some knockoff/cheap brands are strong enough to get the job done but the chances of it being good enough is slim so it's like taking a chance. BlackWorks (BWR) is a very solid quality budget brand so I don't think people should anything cheaper than this but it's totally up to you. Yes, you have to get new LCA bolts if you snapped the old one. If I remember correctly, the LCA for these cars don't use a separate nut because the subframe uses a welded nut on the other side for the bolt to attach to.
Michael Flare thanks dude 😉
Michael Flare You're right man, eks and ejs have a captive nut welded on the other side. So dude, I eventually went for a pair of aftermarket Lcas from Illinois US, I'm in the UK. The brand I got is TrustBuilt, are they any good to you know Mike? I was quoted £450.00 for an aftermarket set of lcas here in UK at my local suppliers 😮. The TrustBuilt ones off eBay cost me £86.00 for a set inclusive of delivery, way cheaper than in rip off Britain lol
I never heard of TrustBuilt (maybe it's a Euro thing) but the pricing of it can usually reflect it's quality. A set of LCA for 86 Euro sounds way too cheap. I think it's going to be a weak quality. Good quality ones should be at least 130 Euro.
Is that a megan racing exhaust?
Is this the same way you would install these onto an EP3?? It looks like it would be almost the exact same to me but just wanting to make sure
Pinkflappy The EP3 does not use the same parts at all. However, the process of installing it is very similar.
Ah maybe thats what I got confused with. Appreciate it
Where can I get a longer bolt for subframe LCA I put a tie bar but the bolt doesn’t go ut all the way to the end and I just put markings to see if the bolt gets loose!
ACE HARDWARE! They have so many metric sized bolts and nuts available. Home Depot and Lowe's almost has no metric choices.
Michael Flare thank you so much brother, I wasn’t expecting that you will reply this cause this video was few years back, but then thanks
I think you put the hard wear for the brace on backwards your supposed to see the bwr
Paul Allen yeah it looks like the BWR stickered side had more shine to it too
But the grooves for the bolts is on the other side. LOL. It's okay. Maybe they misprinted mine or something.
U da 💣 Asian guy
its almost 10 years do you still have the bwr kit and how are the bushings
Yes, I still have it and I just did my big circuit race with my car and it handled absolutely amazing.
Hi Michael, hope you can help me with some advice. When you first attempted to remove your rear LCA bolts, how did you prevent the Bolt head from snapping off due to being seized? I live in England and we have really cold winters and roads get plastered with salt so rusty undercarriage parts is inevitable,..so how did you go about removing your bolts the very first time you attempted to remove the original LCA's, were they seized? And if so, what procedures did you incorporate into removing them? I have a 2000 Civic ej9 and would love to install a BWR setup just like yours. Hope you can give me some pointers bro 😊.
MikeyHonda4Life Mine was fortunately not seized but I have worked with a seized LCA before. Spray a fluid on it that helps break the bolt loose. Then, jack up the car do the LCA is at a different angle. Different angle of the LCA means it will have different tension on the bolt. Keep jacking the car and try different angles. It helps a lot if you have an impact gun so you can check if it loosens at every angle you try.
Michael Flare, Thanks for the great info bro 😊, Damn I ain't got an impact gun man, but I guess I really need one as it helps break the bolts loose. Would a breaker bar work too?
MikeyHonda4Life No, don’t get confused. The impact gun in this situation isn’t used for it’s power to break the bolt loose because your arm is actually stronger than a regular impact gun. The impact gun here helps you check each angle and see if it’ll loosen faster and more efficiently. A breaker bar is much stronger than impact gun. I’ve snapped an LCA bolt head off an Integra before and we had to cut the strut legs and remove the LCA still attached to it when I used a breaker bar; this was before I knew about jacking up the car so the LCA is at different angles.
Michael Flare, Oh maan that's exactly what happened to me in November last year when me and a buddy attempted to dismantle the Lcas,....first lca Bolt my buddy tried to loosen with a breaker bar just snapped right off within seconds,....we spent the entire morning drilling and tapping the Bolt out of the lca, daaamn it lol
Michael Flare, do you jack up the wheel assembly when trying to find different angles?
did you use Windex to clean the control arms ?
Yes.
Sorry for this..
How many torque you use for the bolts??
I think I stated it in the annotations that will show up if you watch it on your computer.
are you going to get coilovers?
i have many noob questions. Im interested in building a car worthy of a race track but i still want to drive the car on the street whenever i might want to. im using an 2008 civic si 4 door as my base. IDK much about tuner cars or domestics for that matter. The LCA/Tie Bar/Subframe install here...is it designed to increase traction or for support to the frames strength??
+Soverign Cold-Steel The aftermarket things in this video strengthens my factory subframe so that I can use a larger sway bar without the factory subframe tearing because it is weak. the LCAs from BWR are stronger so it reduces the flex of the LCA and the tie bar reduces the flex between the LCA mounting points to increase rigidity. The aftermarket subframe brace also allows me to use a larger sway bar because the factory subframe only has holes to fit on a smaller sway bar. A larger sway bar reduces the body roll of a car during turns which will increase the car's reflex speed around corners.
+Michael Flare Thanx for your explanation of Subframes/LCA. Im really considering a planned project for my SI. Id like to build a daily driver/weekend track car. I see you use BSR products. would you suggest their products for a seriously reliable manufacter or could/would u suggest something better....say money was no factor
BWR is very good for what you need it to do already. If you want to get the best, then I think it's Function7 subframe brace and LCA.
Whats option 2?
is your subframe backwards ? dont you want to show the BWR logo?
Asian dude & a Civic Type-R... Seems legit!😂
What exhaust is that ? And we're can I get one for my 2000 ek
- Vibrant StreetPower Stealth
- 22" resonator
- Custom 2.25" piping throughout/
- 4-2-1 header
Where do I find the Lower Control Arm extension bolts ?
eBay or JHPUSA.com
how are the control arms holding up? Im getting new ones but debating on these or oem
I''ve had them on my car since then and have done several racing events. It's still perfectly in tact and still firm.
+Michael Flare thanks for the info and prompt response
its a ek3? or ek9?
