    After reading your comments, it looks like the export time similarities are due to the encoding chip being the same in both machines. Interesting! Thanks y’all. Learning new stuff every day. 👍🏼

    There is such a thing as hiccups when it comes to exports. I would definitely recommend re exporting a few more times for consistency but regardless the base model is kinda proving to be the ultimate value. It doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between the two. Playback and scrubbing is by far the most important aspect of editing. And there definitely seems to be very little difference. But I’m almost certain the 10c is the fast model in every aspect. But not very noticeable

    I shoot in 4k60 4-2-2 10bit, I edit in FCPX project timeline 4k30. With that being said, do I need the 10core, or can I get away 8core? Is the 10core overkill? Reason I’m asking is I’m cool with the 10core, just don’t want to pay the extra for the 1TB over 512gbs, since I use external SSD and never store anything on my laptop. Thanks!

    I was undecided whether to buy base 14 M1 Pro 10-core or base 14 m2 Pro 10-core.
    I almost exclusively do advanced video editing. After seeing some export tests including yours, I decided to buy the base 14" model with M2 pro (found new for €500 less than Apple site). Why? Because here it appears that the base version M1 pro 8 -core does not lose performance in video editing compared to the 10-core version, and the base version with 14" M2 pro in the tests of other youtubers (Zone of Tech Dion Schuddeboom) is 20/25% faster in video rendering than base M1 Pro.

  • @RunForPeace-hk1cu
    @RunForPeace-hk1cu 2 года назад +2

    Both the base model and the unbinned CPU model uses the Media Encoder/Decoder on the M1Pro
    Get the M1Max to see a difference in export times.
    the 512GB SSD model is slower than the 1TB SSD model . It has nothing to do with the SoC being different.

    Is there a way that you can show scrubbing in premiere pro? It seems nobody(or at least not many channels) is showing non native apps...i am definitely looking at the 10 core-16,16 with 32gigs of ram config just short of the m1 max... but i use the adobe suite for work.

    The export time is nearly the same, but the write speed of the SSD of the high-end model is almost 30% faster ! Maybe that is because the base model has a 512 Go SSD while the other has 1 To. I know large Apple SSDs have always been faster than the smaller ones, but it would be interesting to compare this write speed with a 8-core CPU 14''MBPro customized with a 1 To SSD.

      I’m sure there are, but most people watching this video are mostly likely video editors. I myself isn’t one of those people yet…lol but will be doing a lot more videos soon.
      For an average Joes you’re asking though; for browsing the web, email, basic editing no crazy editing, you are just fine with MacBook Air. Better yet even an iPad will do.

    • @AC-wl7ve
      @AC-wl7ve 2 года назад

      @@VictorMendezRealtor I mainly want it for the screen, msg safe, and extra ports. Also having the upgraded headphone amp and speakers is very nice. The performance may be total overkill for me but I assume it just means it will be more future proofed. I’d like to see reviews of people running a bunch of apps, maybe watching a movie, and browsing 20 different web pages at the same time lol.

    Instead of spending $500 more for a better 14” M1 why not spend $500 more and get the base version 16” model.
    The base 16” has a 10 core cpu 16 core gpu just like the upgraded 14” model and you get the extra screen real estate, faster charger 140w vs 67w, and larger battery and better speakers

    I have seen similar before. In light tasks even the intel i9 16" can beat the M1 and M1Pro/Max. The reason is that the M1 family use the efficiency cores first whenever posible. It is posible that the 8 core has a higher percentage of power cores doing the work. In plain english. The power cores need to work harder in the 8 core model to sustain the same power level.
