Yea. Ragdolls are gone. It kinda feels like the bodies have a more realistic weight to them now though. But yeah, ragdolls are fun. Can't cut off limbs with the knife anymore either.
the mash mechanic isn't an escape mechanic it's a damage mitigation mechanic. you allegedly take less damage if you do it before it bites you. take that for what you will.

Zombie still takes a full chunk out of you, but afterwards there's no wound or whatsoever. Realism lol. In the og you could mash buttons and push away a zombie without the biting animation. Even though it's Mack's 2nd RE experience, I'm sure that the most logical thought when you are prompted to mash a button. @Son Fable If you don't mash fast enough it's like three strikes and you're dead. It's possible to change the mechanic to press and hold instead of mashing though.
I was wondering why he was complaining about that, it seems pretty obvious that its for damage mitigation. The game would be too easy if you could just mash a button and take no damage from the most abundant threat.
Really disappointed with this game. The original Resi 3 was my favourite Resident Evil game, but Capcom seem to have completely missed what made the original so good.

I thought nemesis was in the game plenty. No he wasn’t on you’re ass every single second, but you run into him much faster in the game then you did in the original and he is a constant threat from the opening seconds until the sewer, and he pops up several times after the sewer...so I don’t get the whole nemesis isn’t in there enough argument. The missing areas in the game I do see. But they changed it so much and added additional areas in the city to help me get over the clock tower. I beat the game in the same time as I beat the original the first run through. Yeah you want a long game....but it was always shorter then 2 in my opinion so I don’t hate on that either. And then again I beat the remake faster and can beat 4 in under 3 hours. So while the original poster is complaining about how long it is I don’t understand that either.
Joshua Cannar yeah it’s just a restart with slightly different triggers - most of which have know continuity and are done simply to keep you on your toes. But it makes the second pass of the map feel cumbersome. You shoot a zombie that’s on the ground as Jill and the then when Carlos goes past that same one, it now is fully alive... annoying.
Those choices didn't make sense for the most part. Like a choice you make affects something unrelated in the future. Besides, the lore wasn't established then, so its more "proper" that we get a solid story instead of weird choices that don't change the gameplay as much as ur implying
From what I understand this game was build by a different team than RE2R, and pushed to be released before any next gen reveals. That might explain a lot.

In resident evil 3 the original there are multiple buildings like the police station. Nemesis randomly shows up and chases you, sometimes he doesn't chase long giving false sense of security other times he fking chases you till the end of the earth. The music is amazing , there are more zombies coming out of broken cars , locked alleyways. There is much more rng in terms how many powders you get and which weapons you get and different times. Puzzles are still there and they're not easy by any means a lot of things are rng again.
The point of spamming left click is to take less damage. It's this games equivalent of spamming all of the buttons on a gamepad like you could in the original to take less damage.
Disappointing. After Doom Eternal and Half Life Alyx I thought this would continue a positive trend of good games but unfortunetly this is not the case. One of my more anticipated games too.
One thing I've always liked about Mack is no matter what game it is he knows what sort of game he is reviewing. What people would think they are buying into.

We all know damn well why this isn't as good as RE 2. You gotta love when Devs go the multiplayer route, means you get a lack of a good story mode. I understand we live in a world now where everybody wants to play with each other these days, but this comes at the expense that you're going to loose the best parts of what you usually get.
The button prompt when you're grabbed by a zombie isn't meant to stop them from biting you. If you're grabbed, you're getting bit. Spamming the button just shortens the bite and lessens how much damage you take.
Well, i'm one of those diehard RESIDENT EVIL fans you mentioned in the video and even i would definitely say it's NOT worth a buy! The aiming is way off for realz and on console (i played it on the Xbox One X) it's even worse, even if you are used to playing games that involve a lot of shooting on consoles. Resident Evil 2 REmake was really something to wet the bed about, a real dream come true for every diehard RE-fan, but this one - well, i turned it off after like 3 hours of playing, says it all. Luckily i still have the original RE3 for two other platforms, because if this would happen to be my first RE-game, i sure as hell, wouldn't have become a lifelong fan of the series. It's not as shite as Wolfenstein Youngblood was/still is, but it is miles away from being a great game nonetheless - mediocre at best. Btw. RE RESISTANCE that comes along with it, is even worse.
You misunderstood what spacebar does. It is for dodging(jill) or counterattack(carlos) It needs to be press just before you're about to get grab. Jill will roll out or Carlos will falcon punch. Requires perfect timing. Spamming spacebar is not a wackem button
The creepy area you showed was part of the police station in RE 2 btw. The room on the opposite side of where the zombie breaks out of is the lockerroom with the missing keyboard keys

this is why i love the channel - literally thought “best check macks video before i buy this just in case” .. when it got the thumbs down, i was surprised but relieved as hype from the previous game nearly cost me £50.. but luckily not this time. On a side note.. hoping that RE4 (the best in the series in my opinion) should hopefully get a remake.. and fingers crossed it will be as good as RE2’s was...
A lot of people are also saying that this is basically a repackaged DLC for RE2. Don't get it now, get it this summer or later in December when it goes on sale for 40-50% off.
I agree with all you say man, I give this DLC a 3 out of 10 as of now, the more and see and hear the thoughts of others and remember how great the original was, I can't really get much into the game after my first run with all the great stuff removed. What does Capcom have against Spiders? Lol
Deffo agree with the combat being broken, the zombies and hunters and even nemesis get stuck in animations when shot do you have to take a couple seconds in between shooting because if you just constantly shoot the bullets that fire during their animations don’t have any effect
NewPlanetDotCom it’s really good! If it was 30 bucks people would be worshipping it. It is about 2 hours shorter than it should be. Just platinumed Borderlands and all dlc. Longer doesn’t mean better tho. Game has some bloated ass content. I appreciated RE3 getting to the point

In RE3 nemesis was more like Mr X in the RE 2 remake. Walking through the map, following you through doors. They should've made Nemesis like Mr X on steroids instead of 80% scripted scenes.
What amazes me is that Mr X in RE2R was the stalker. More than the original and like RE3 original. Yet Nemesis or "Nemesissy" I'll call him, was more like Mr X in the original RE2! They've got it hella backwards. RE1 Remake is the definition of what a remake is.
I really enjoyed the game. Took my sweet time too, about 9 hours to complete it while getting the most out of the whole game. Very nice story, which luckily picks up around half way through.. 8/10 in my book.

I didn’t rush the game at all and finished it in 5:00:24. Died 7 times. Played on standard. Pretty pathetic length for a 65 dollar game. 13 bucks per hour of playtime LOL

Mr.X and Nemesis was not random in the originals or the remakes for two or three. Did any of you play the OG RE 2 or 3. Anytime there was a puzzle boom here's Nemesis now solve that puzzle fast and run away. Or fight him for that weapon part your choice.
Thats why i personally will get this one ONLY on deep sale digitally. RE2 remake is a must buy/have collection game on a disc. But this actually back in the 1996 if im correct was planned as a DLC for RE2 not a full lenght game. And i think thats why we get the 4 player extra mode/game as a bonus to fill the gap.
Enjoyed this review, laughed a lot. I’ve just completed it and it’s like, I agree with a lot of your points, especially on length and lack of puzzles BUT I do feel overall you’re harsher on it than I would be. It’s a good game in its own right, if it wasn’t RE, and it was £25 then this would be a totally different situation. The price and the fact it’s following in RE2s footsteps sadly do hurt it a lot, Disappointing but not a train wreck
I'm stuck at home with nothing to do. Got it on CdKeys for £34.99. Played it for 3 hours so far and I'm enjoying it. I did start on hardcore difficulty so that really helps with the atmosphere and should extend the play time a bit. Really hope they will add some free dlc like they did for RE2 remake. There are technical problems here that were in the RE2 remake but have been made more visible by larger environments. Particularly, low frame rates on distant zombies. Also, they appear to have removed blue herbs and made green herbs pull double duty.

They should've done most everything like the original . Also, with the new and improved tech that we have they could've also kept the "choices" like in the original, but rather than making the game pause and the player select Jill's options they could have it be real-time.

Oh no! RE3 was my first and to this day favourite RE experience! It's sad that they didn't remake it fully. Currently playing the new RE2 and it's quite nice. Was hoping for more of that with RE3. Also, I'm not sure how it works here. But in the original you can only play with Carlos for a few missions due to story relates shenanigans. The original also had an awesome story and was quite long.
Because there were hours of door opening cutscene. That's the reason why it seems long. The other think is that missing content wasnt supposed be in RE3 and it was added on the last minute. It's a mirracle that gamers liked it and now they want it in RE3 Remake. RE3 Remake is almost exactly what the original was supposed to be released.
I played the demo. Because the price is a lot down here in South Africa. I have to agree with you. I loved resident evil 2. But after playing the demo I'm not going to rush out to buy this game. I'll wait until it goes on special for like 80% off.
I actually think the multiplayer is good fun and one of the good asymmetric arena games out there, however I don't believe the two games should be bundled together. Each game are probably worth £20 each and I would say that is a decent price for both. The single player is a disappointment, no where near as polished as RE2 (though being a big fan of the original, I was a little disappointed with that remake also and that was mainly due to reduced game assets). My main criticism with this one was that it's not scary, they've focused too much on action and I fear Capcom are on route to repeat themselves with games like RE5 :(

They downgraded the gore effects and removed the ragdoll effects that was present in Resident Evil 2.

Spamming the mouse during a grab doesn’t let you escape, as one would think from playing other games. It reduces the damage taken.

this is why i love the channel - literally thought “best check macks video before i buy this just in case” .. when it got the thumbs down, i was surprised but relieved as hype from the previous game nearly cost me £50.. but luckily not this time. On a side note.. hoping that RE4 (the best in the series in my opinion) should hopefully get a remake.. and fingers crossed it will be as good as RE2’s was...
u gotta play the og re 1, 2 and 3 games mac. gameplay over graphics. 3 of the best games ever. truly scary.

As a hardcore re fan, this game is a disappointment for me, re3 is my favorite game, n they just messed this game up so bad
A lot of people are also saying that this is basically a repackaged DLC for RE2. Don't get it now, get it this summer or later in December when it goes on sale for 40-50% off.

I agree with all you say man, I give this DLC a 3 out of 10 as of now, the more and see and hear the thoughts of others and remember how great the original was, I can't really get much into the game after my first run with all the great stuff removed. What does Capcom have against Spiders? Lol
Deffo agree with the combat being broken, the zombies and hunters and even nemesis get stuck in animations when shot do you have to take a couple seconds in between shooting because if you just constantly shoot the bullets that fire during their animations don’t have any effect
just play the original, you can practically make it HD with epsxe, much more content rich game, that came on a single disc for ps1.

Button spam when zombie grabs you isn't so you can escape, it is so the damage you receive is lower.

NewPlanetDotCom it’s really good! If it was 30 bucks people would be worshipping it. It is about 2 hours shorter than it should be. Just platinumed Borderlands and all dlc. Longer doesn’t mean better tho. Game has some bloated ass content. I appreciated RE3 getting to the point

To be fair nemesis was also a “scene thing” in the original re3 and this IS a remake after all. Though it doesn’t excuse the cut content
In RE3 nemesis was more like Mr X in the RE 2 remake. Walking through the map, following you through doors.
They should've made Nemesis like Mr X on steroids instead of 80% scripted scenes.
That distorted face zombie on the promo cover for the game has a really good dental plan.
What amazes me is that Mr X in RE2R was the stalker. More than the original and like RE3 original. Yet Nemesis or "Nemesissy" I'll call him, was more like Mr X in the original RE2! They've got it hella backwards. RE1 Remake is the definition of what a remake is.
I had a feeling this game was going to break your heart.
I really enjoyed the game. Took my sweet time too, about 9 hours to complete it while getting the most out of the whole game.
Very nice story, which luckily picks up around half way through..
8/10 in my book.

I didn’t rush the game at all and finished it in 5:00:24. Died 7 times. Played on standard. Pretty pathetic length for a 65 dollar game. 13 bucks per hour of playtime LOL

Mr.X and Nemesis was not random in the originals or the remakes for two or three. Did any of you play the OG RE 2 or 3. Anytime there was a puzzle boom here's Nemesis now solve that puzzle fast and run away. Or fight him for that weapon part your choice.

Thats why i personally will get this one ONLY on deep sale digitally. RE2 remake is a must buy/have collection game on a disc. But this actually back in the 1996 if im correct was planned as a DLC for RE2 not a full lenght game. And i think thats why we get the 4 player extra mode/game as a bonus to fill the gap.

Enjoyed this review, laughed a lot. I’ve just completed it and it’s like, I agree with a lot of your points, especially on length and lack of puzzles BUT I do feel overall you’re harsher on it than I would be.
It’s a good game in its own right, if it wasn’t RE, and it was £25 then this would be a totally different situation. The price and the fact it’s following in RE2s footsteps sadly do hurt it a lot,

I'm stuck at home with nothing to do. Got it on CdKeys for £34.99. Played it for 3 hours so far and I'm enjoying it. I did start on hardcore difficulty so that really helps with the atmosphere and should extend the play time a bit. Really hope they will add some free dlc like they did for RE2 remake.
There are technical problems here that were in the RE2 remake but have been made more visible by larger environments. Particularly, low frame rates on distant zombies. Also, they appear to have removed blue herbs and made green herbs pull double duty.
You know it is the end times when mack gets an early review code.

I can't understand why the original recepies can't be bettered, I mean gaming is "evolving" But there's so much crap out there what with porting to consoles unfinished, unpolished games which in my experience end up in the bin. Glad i got it for free with an AMD GPU, i expected more from the game.
That said, I am only in it for the Jill costume mods. There should also be a mode to have all the zombies in the game be nemesis class tyrants. ^^👍
They should've done most everything like the original . Also, with the new and improved tech that we have they could've also kept the "choices" like in the original, but rather than making the game pause and the player select Jill's options they could have it be real-time.
All the reviewers I trust have pretty much been saying the same negative things about the game...

Oh no! RE3 was my first and to this day favourite RE experience! It's sad that they didn't remake it fully. Currently playing the new RE2 and it's quite nice. Was hoping for more of that with RE3.
Also, I'm not sure how it works here. But in the original you can only play with Carlos for a few missions due to story relates shenanigans. The original also had an awesome story and was quite long.
Because there were hours of door opening cutscene. That's the reason why it seems long.
The other think is that missing content wasnt supposed be in RE3 and it was added on the last minute. It's a mirracle that gamers liked it and now they want it in RE3 Remake.
RE3 Remake is almost exactly what the original was supposed to be released.

I played the demo. Because the price is a lot down here in South Africa. I have to agree with you. I loved resident evil 2. But after playing the demo I'm not going to rush out to buy this game. I'll wait until it goes on special for like 80% off.
I actually think the multiplayer is good fun and one of the good asymmetric arena games out there, however I don't believe the two games should be bundled together. Each game are probably worth £20 each and I would say that is a decent price for both. The single player is a disappointment, no where near as polished as RE2 (though being a big fan of the original, I was a little disappointed with that remake also and that was mainly due to reduced game assets). My main criticism with this one was that it's not scary, they've focused too much on action and I fear Capcom are on route to repeat themselves with games like RE5 :(
I hate how zombie grab works. It stops you to get bitevoutbof your characters neck there should be more animations and should be able cancel without sub weapons
i think you can't complain about the dodge mechanic.
if you don't get the perfect dodge that's just your fault period.
I like how the blood spatters don't come from the actual model :P
