Things Capcom got wrong here: 1. Not a lot of puzzles. 2. Nemesis looked like a giant re5 licker after the subway crash. 3. No clock tower. 4. No grave digger. 5. No Racoon park. 6. Zombies are the same from RE2 remake. 7. You have to fight Nemesis the same way in the end as when you fight him after the subway crash. 8. It's too freaking short.

I generally don't agree that games need certain playtime quota to meet full price standards, however this Remake appears to cut a lot of stuff from the original - and that's just not okay. Simplifying puzzles, removing sections of the game and replacing some sections with Carlos sections is a deal breaker for me. I'm waiting for a Steam sale with this one. Resident Evil 3 was the first Resident I beat and I replayed that game far more times than Xplosiv edition warranted so when I found out that there's no graveyard boss fight and the game is relatively short... nope, I'm not fine with that.

      @RandomJtv 4 года назад +50

RE3 got the balance completely wrong with Nemesis, which is wild considering they had great foundations to build on with the original game and Mr. X in the RE3 remake.
Nemesis is more of a threat when he does chase you down, because he's faster and has a range of attacks. But the logic of how he behaves feels more apparent. He disappears when you walk into certain areas and has trigger spawn points. And he doesn't have a constant presence the way that Mr. X did in the police station. You could ALWAYS hear him. Nemesis just comes and goes and then becomes a set piece.

Random J even the final boss fight with Mr. X was better though, I honestly feel like Nemesis should have been way more difficult to defeat, I remember I barely had bullets left the first time I played as Leon and had to play it a hell of a lot of times before I was able to defeat Mr X not like Nemesis I will be replaying in Hard mode today, hopefully it improves

I was soooooo disappointed in the game. They cut all my favourite parts. The clock tower. All the puzzles. The backtracking. The park. The factory. The choices. The multiple endings. And they made nemesis boring.
On top of that they seem to have started the game partway through after you meet Carlos. Ok, they added some stuff into the hospital and another nest, but I didn’t think they were all that.
They also changed the game to be linear and too action-heavy. Yes, the original was more action-Y than the 2nd but it wasn’t combat focused. There was no need to shoot zombies or kill nemesis outside of boss fights.
The original took me about 10 or so hours the first time. This took me about 4 or 5. I’m sorry but it’s a crap remake. Maybe it's a good game more broadly if you know nothing about the original. But it’s lost all of its personality.
I loved the re2 remake so this really was a blow.

My issue with RE2 is the one obvious big flow that the devs were so lazy and stupid to make it and its the bad timing between Leon and Claire scenarios.

@iforgot87872 I mean I can see why, in a game with the classic top down, fixed camera style it works but with the newer graphics and how the movement works, there's just no reason for it. The things you should be pussed about are the fact they cut half the game, the ability to go from the near end of the game all the easy back to the start, they made Nemesis's ai as intimidating as a kitten with a gun, and let's not even talk about that shitty dog form and the final fight. Speaking of which they fucked up her one liner and instead it in the middle of the game. Like I always say when this game is brought up, it's not re3 or even an re game, it's a triple a fan fic and nothing else.

Skull Kid RE2 remake cut just as much as 3 did. The train yard, half of the labs, and even several rooms in the rpd. The files in the 2 remake where all super lame. The original has files revealing that Irons locked the garage and the armory to stop the cops of responding to the outbreak before hunting then for sport. None of that is present in the remake and his interactions with Claire are brief with no story details being revealed. The remake is just super sparse on character interactions in general because it cut the radio conversations between Leon and Claire along with most of their meetups like the one in the STARS office. The A and B scenarios where so fucking lazy they really shouldn’t have even bothered if they were gonna phone them in like they did. The gameplay was great and I love the new intro to the game with Leon entering the city in civilian clothes and new interactions with Marvin and Kendo and the sewers were really well done because using the G adults as a common enemy instead of a one off boss was a great idea but other than that RE2 was just as much of a lazy “reimagining” as RE3 Remake. 3 at least added shit to make up for its missing parts though like drastically expanding the rpd and hospital to make up for cutting the park and clock tower down and the files in RE3 give way more world building than 2 did. 3make so far has been way better than 2 because it’s story is far more intact.

Where in the original you had to go from point A to point B, back to point A, then to point C, then D, then back to B, etc. If they did this in the remake, they could have the Nemesis pop up in randomized locations more often and that would make the game so much better. This is the same, that Crystal Dynamics did with Tomb Raider reboot as well...once devs keep adding to multiplayer content you can kiss any sort of single player content goodbye...

@Ian Nottingham, RE6 is arguably one of the best content rich RE games, especially the later PS4/PC ports that added even more to the Mercenaries bonus mode.
Capcom definitely rushed it compared to RE2 Remake. Same kind of happened in 1999, but back then the devs tried hard to make the original different from RE2.
Plus they had Shinji Mikami over seeing development and he got the team to add content to the game. Content that was cut in this so called "remake" no less.
As for Project Resistance, I'm not completely against a multiplayer focused RE game. I enjoyed Operation Raccoon City and would love to see a remaster of the Outbreak games or a new one.
But Project Resistance is even lazier and more cynical than even Umbrella Corp. Plus, it has baloney greed stuff too.
Ah well, maybe in a few years, we'll get DC or Gold Edition of RE3 Remake 2020 that adds in all the cut content, especially Mercenaries, for PS5, XSX, and PC.

I enjoyed pretty much every location in the game, the core gameplay felt great, imo the dodge is super satisfying. The boss fights in this game were better than any of the fights in the RE:2 remake, in large part thanks to the enhanced mobility.
I wish the game was a bit longer though, as 5 hours is really short for a game that is essentially campaign only. Granted, this does seem to have some pretty high replay value with nightmare and inferno difficulties.
If they had just been more faithful to the original story, and added in another 2-3 hours worth of content between the start of the game and the hospital it would have been pretty much perfect for me. I was really hoping for them to keep the same iconic first encounter with Nemesis out the front of the RPD. I would have taken that over what we were given for a nemesis introduction any day of the week.

I just replayed the original again a month or so ago, and while it was kind of a bummer to see a couple areas cut, I really enjoy the faster pace and think it’s great for replayability. I’ve even really enjoyed the reimagined plot and character elements, and it was exciting to me to see how things got remixed. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion of course, but a lot of the complaints people have about this remake just come off to me as “it’s not the same so I don’t like it”, and if that’s the case why not just play the original again? It didn’t go anywhere after all, it’s still there.

I guess people were overexpecting RE3 remake. It was as good as RE2 remake, but that is. RE2 remake was considered as a breakthrough, and people expect that RE3 remake can deliver the same hype. Since both remakes are very similar, it is natural that many ends up disappointed. Also, the game was bundled with a multiplayer game that not many were interested. So some felt like they have been cheated. But then again, I also feel that several people may have been overreacting too much.

Far out this has to be the biggest boomer review I have ever seen, absolutely disgusting review obviously got the nostalgia goggles on thick here. I mean how is 'less like the original' a legitimate critique.
Game is just pure tense fun from start to finish. Nemesis is used perfectly and he has all his original weapons as well as crazy new forms, zombies are as terrifiying as they were in RE2 remake and just as threatening. The corridors of the hospital and revisiting the RPD with new enemies are just as tense as being on the streets at the start of the game.
The new Carlos action scenes are not as trigger happy as he makes them seem legit he set up that one scenario and shot 2 generaters that are meant to be used tactically to make the game look like a mindless shooter actually pathetic. The Carlos sections are the same as the Jill ones tight corridors and tense moments just with more enemies. Theres a defense type section to finish it off which expends all your resources its intense as you have to protect Jill as well as try not to die at the same time for a certain time limit you kill a lot of enemies and is a great change of pace compared to the slower more methodical hospital sequence before it.
I don't believe for a second that the only part he enjoyed apparently was the final boss fight unless we went into the game with the mindset of "this games gonna be trash because it's not the original and Im going to find everything wrong with it bla bla bla..." Like seriously going over a 2 second facial expression and using it in your argument twice cause you couldn't find anything else is reaching so hard like first playthrough I didn't even notice that I doubt anyone would unless they are intentionally looking for it like this guy was. The real nail in the coffin for me was when he said "the PACING was bad" without giving any reason to why the pacing was bad at all. That's just the CLASSIC "I don't have anything else to say so I'm just gonna say that the pacing was off".
Game is a 9/10 for me would be a 10/10 if not for a couple exploits I found with the enemies and the third nemesis boss fight was kinda a rehash of the second one.

I looked forward to this release because of how happy I was with the remake of RE2.
But after having completed it on hardcore and struggling with the last boss fight in Nightmare, I got a heap of complaints with it:
    1. Nemesis encounters feels way too scripted and predictable. There's only really one time that actually feels like the original RE3. Also very little emphasis on choice in whether you fight him or not because the game simply doesn't let you fight him most of the time (doing so means just wasting ammo and/or dying)
    2. There's no build up in the story or character introduction. Everyone and everything is introduced right off the bat. Now I know, being a remake people will already know about the cast and characters, but that shouldn't stop you from at least trying to create natural progression and introduction in a good way.
    3. The Brain Sucker/Deimos enemy is only around for a single segment in the game. In the original you could encounter them in many different locations. Also in the original game, enemy placement was different from each playthrough. Some play throughs a room would contain hunters. Other playthroughs that same room would contain Deimos or spiders.
Sometimes one area might have slow zombies. Other times that same area may have fast moving zombies. This just isn't a thing in the remake.
    4. The game relies too much on the dodge mechanic. And the dodge mechanic in itself is not exactly reliable since you can end up getting snagged on objects in the enviroment or the timing being off all the time. Wait until that final fight against Nemesis on Nightmare difficulty. Not only does the dodging have to be perfect but if you miss once, he'll stunlock and kill you.
    5. Clock tower section completely removed, most of the city exploration is removed, fights against grave digger removed, park area removed, basically a lot of areas and puzzles are removed.
    6. Higher difficulties seems to implicitly necessitate the use of special items and weapons with unlimited ammo unlocked by scoring achievements.
Could go on. Really sad that it had to be such a let down.

4.) There is an asian zombie that have been witnessed in the beginning bar scene of Resident Evil OutBreak and he is in Re2.
5.) Carlos fights the nemesis in the clock tower
6.) The nemesis evolves less, by the clock tower he should tentacles all around his body and no shirt.
7.) There are no in game options that can shift the direction you go in, for instance, when nemesis kill Brad Vickers, you could choose to run inside or fight the monsters.
8.) No park scene, the blue, green and red diamond was for that.
9.) The restaurant when you blow up the kitchen
10.) Nemesis just too movie scripted in the remake, Mr. X makes the nemesis look like a push over

Nemesis wasn't randomized in the original RE3, there were scripted encounters but then if you ran away without fighting him, he'd lurk within a radius between so many screens or doors until you either down him for the count for that particular encounter or go through the door beyond his radius or roaming and lurking. In choosing to run away and not fight him, you'd know you were out of the area he lurks within by the eerie feel the tension music changing back to the normal scripted BGM.

I hope developers take the fan response from all these remakes more seriously. We want remakes to be actually like the original game but with current gen graphics and gameplay systems. I mean shit its easier to just copy a damn game and update it than change all this stuff no one wanted to change. Something like the Shadow Of the Colossus is a good example of this. Even though I love RE2make, the original RE1make is still the highest bar set for remakes ever and probably will be for a long time. It upgraded everything about the original and instead of cutting things it added stuff that fit perfectly without changing the game world.

Speak for yourself. Everybody is entitled to an opinion sure, but not everybody who loves the series wants a carbon copy of the original with just upgraded graphics. Do I dislike some of the cuts in the game? Yeah, but developers looking back at games probably wish they could've done different things with the product in retrospect, and likely did just that. Is it going to be perfect every time? No. Do I wish there was a clock tower in the game? Yeah. Do I think the grave digger was incredibly stupid, and didn't really fit? Yeah, and I'm actually glad they removed it, just like I was glad they minimized the role of the crocodile in RE2. To me, the expanded hospital and the second NEST section made a lot more sense than the dead factory did, and fits the entire narrative that the RE2 explored in regards to how big Umbrellas reach was in the city.

    • @alexferrier5732
      @alexferrier5732 4 года назад

If you wanted the exact same game as 1998 RE3, we would have gotten the clock tower, park and dead factory, but we wouldnt have gotten the improved hospital area and the awesome Carlos sections, lets face it, Carlos sections in RE3 1998 were not that good and he was a bad character. Im seriously liking the new hospital it is eerie and I would trade that for the clock tower and park, and trade the NEST 2 for the dead factory. It is a give and take situation, Im ok with story mode being how it is, only thing I dont like is Nemesis tranforming into a dog so fast, we needed more humanoid nemesis.
That and the lack of mercenaries and costumes is the real problem.

    • @muccmaster
      @muccmaster 4 года назад +1

@@Grommash1000 Uh that's the whole point of my fucking post, to speak for myself and the huge amount of people who dislike the cuts. And it's not even that they cut the areas for a good reason, they did it because they could just reuse RE2 assets for the Hospital and Lab rather than have to make all new content. I don't think everything is bad and I actually had a good time, but this was clearly rushed and didn't need to come out barely one year after RE2. Carlos is definitely way better.
What are you even talking about with the role of the alligator? The part with it is incredibly small in both versions. The only difference is in RE2make only Leon encounters it. Yes the expanded hospital and lab make sense here because the story was written for it. Just like the hospital and dead factory made perfect sense in the original. Also I never said they couldn't change things, I literally argued RE1 is the perfect remake because it added things.

    My personal opinion
*Racoon City Downtown was too small, it needed to be much larger and all interconnected, that way they could’ve made Nemesis much more like Mr X as he could just be in any part of the city putting pressure on the player to keep moving like in RE2.
*No Clocktower, considered this was the UBCS base for evacuation, wasted the potential for a good overrun ‘military’ environment.
*Jill encountered Mikhail and Carlos too quickly, I felt we should’ve done some city exploration before bumping into them.
*No Mercenaries mode just sorta kills replay ability for me after I’m finished trying to get S+.
*4 hours of gameplay isn’t enough for the price they were asking really.
Despite all this I did like the links they made to RE2, like zombie Brad and Marvin. Also, I liked how Tyrell also got an expanded role in the story too. Hopefully they’ll actually add in mercenaries like Ghost survivors was added to RE2.
