One of my favorites FOR SURE.
The wombo combo clip is like a really detailed renaissance-era mural - there are like 50 things going on in the clip at the same time, each one its own unique nugget of gold. Michelangelo weeps to behold its beauty.

Prog fumbling over his words during the Team Rocket joke is the one thing I don't like about that clip, but other than that the casting made the clip much more memorable.

Have you ever heard anyone say "oh, he's giving him the business!" when someone is just demolishing someone else or disrespecting them? This is like that, but it's not just a business - it's a whole damn corporation that they're getting given.

It was clear what would win from the start, but fun to see the others anyway. Wombo Combo has transcended into another plane of existence with how much influence it has had over Melee.
And beyond melee. To this day people and casters still use the phrase "wombo combo" in LoL and DotA.

I love the old-school vibe where the entire venue is screaming (Wombo Combo, Forward smash him/disgrace him) but I'd also like to see more new-school stuff where commentary is more refined, kind of in the vein of "walk up slowly and downsmash". That idea of adding to the moment and helping the audience to understand what happened without taking away from the gameplay is cool. Maybe another video of clips from 2014-onward if you guys ever wanted to do this again

One of my favorite caster moments was when Armada hit a crazy combo on Leffen, and Fauster went “WHAT THA FAWKKKKK” and HMW just starts dying laughing

something idk if y’all old school melee players would appreciate is how widespread the word “Wombo combo” became after this video. when I was in 4th grade in 2009-10 (I’m 23 now) people would genuinely say wombo combo, which I have to assume got passed through peoples’ older brothers and such. it’s a moment that transcends not just melee, but even gaming as whole, and was able to enter the broader lexicon. such an important moment in gaming & esports as a whole.
Oh absolutely, it’s still used in the biggest esports game of all time, league of legends. I think the first usage of it was way back in 2010-2011, it just has that meme infancy-to-legend appeal that everyday gamers enjoy. These are a lot of fun to watch as someone who was immersed in gaming culture early on, both personally and professionally
completely disagree with Toph regarding Prog's commentary of Mango-Hbox at Evo 2013; Toph was all hung up about the fact that Prog had said "is this what you wanted from -" before. But to me, what makes that clip iconic is not even that part; it's the "HE READ THAT ROLL!" Prog shouting "He read that roll" is one of those commentary moments seared into my memory, and is in my opinion one of the three or four S-tier worthy moments.

It’s wild that doubles has fallen so far from “Wombo Combo” being the biggest contribution Melee gave to esports to now just being pushed all into Friday like a side event so it doesn’t mess up singles brackets
Someday, singles will reach a point where players and spectators will believe (mistakenly or not) that there are no more advances to be made, or it has plateaued to the point of being boring. Doubles will save Melee yet again when we reach that point.
I'll agree with Toph that the HugS Slim Jim is a straight F. That was a high level match and he was smacking his gums on the mic. 😂
For those that don't know, the reason "did he walk up slowly?" is so famous is because Hax was a Falcon main and then converted to a solo Fox, basically stating that Fox was the future and that Falcon was pretty much obsolete. So Mango deliberately went Falcon (and even used Hax's preferred skin) to rub it in his face how wrong he thought he was.

Ranking the most iconic casters with iconic casters and icon. I really like these but I think that having set standards before ranking will help "keep things from being S and A only" but I'm also biased cause why would we want to rank F tier clips. Maybe ranking by set tiers is a mistake and the clips should only be rated on top of one another
my favorite commentary was at apex 2015 with bizzaro and then the tournament after. with PP so good.

Wombo Combo is obviously the most well known clip of all time. Whats funny is I think what will become the second most known clip is Hbox passing out. I have seen it used in a few non-melee videos so I feel like it has potential. I do think a video on just melee clips would be good. It could be like the crab incident, reverse pop-off, wombo combo, Hell it could have brawl/PM stuff like Mike Haze screaming. Axe winning Summit. Axe 4 stocking Silentwolf, Hbox winning evo? Damn so many of these are hbox things but he is just a content machine I guess.

The clip selection has way too much bias towards the old school era. When I read the video title, I thought of a dozen super iconic moments which I hear people quote when playing and I see quoted in twitch chat (mostly 2014 and later) and only one ended up in this video.

The two iconic commentary teams in Melee history are probably Scar/Toph and Phil/Brandon (HomeMadeWaffles). I don’t think that’s controversial really.
For years, when Melee was more regional, Phil and Brandon defined West Coast Melee commentary
