Your attention to detail is second to none, thank you again Ryan! I will be ordering front and back so I can do this over the winter on my 2003 525i M Sport. Wow the prices of these parts has shot up, will be worth it though
I know this video is old, but how did the gasket hold up? Any issues with fit or noise? I'm only asking because I bought the same gasket and it is for the bulletproof glass version not the regular. I'm wondering if I need to return mine for the regular version or just install it and it will work fine.
You'll want to exchange it for the right one. The security glass is thicker, and so is the gasket for vehicles with that glass. It won't fit right with the standard rear windshield. The new gasket should last another decade or two, though extreme heat and a lot of sun exposure will degrade it more quickly. If there's wind noise, it's because there is too much butyl tape sticking out from around the glass preventing the seal from fitting snugly down in the channel.
I struggled differentiating which one to get, but at the end of the day, these fit perfectly! I'd recommend the part number that I bought and listed above.
@@fabiandee8178 The vast majority of E39s use the standard glass, part numbers in description. If the vehicle is equipped with the security glass, you'll want the thicker seals.
@@E39Source Yeah I know, my vehicle was ordered with double glazing side and rear but I think they only installed it on the side windows, so I'm trying to gauge how thick your glass is to accommodate the seal for the security glass to compare it with my own window thickness to determine what type of rear window I actually have.
@@fabiandee8178 I unfortunately don't have a way to measure the thickness of the glass, but I would assume if any windows are the thick security glass, then all of them would be.
I have done my front and rear windshield rubber seal and there is absolutely no need to remove the windshield. You will need some pry/pick tool to tuck the rubber in. Make sure you clean the old stuff in the crevice real good.
Hello guys i'm a big fan of the BMW 5er e39 and now i decided to buy one from this model but i want to ask you for help :) Which mod, which year, which engine and diesel or gasoline and manual gearbox or automatic transmission ??? thanks
That all depends on your preferences and budget! I will always recommend an M5, which only came as manual, but each model has its pros and cons honestly.
Ryan,,, looks like the bottom part is nowhere to be found . Most of the retailers say, back ordered!... Do you have any other contacts?..,, let me know ,thanksTito

You helped me right after 40 seconds of watching by saying "this gasket is not responsible for keeping water outside of the car" which is exactly the issue I am having! And I was hoping this was my problem, but I guess not.. Dirty water (not just rain, but also mud from the road) somehow ends up in the battery compartment in trunk... If anyone has idea how can I solve that, I would be grateful to read. Thanks!
This gasket could still be responsible for this. What I mean is, this is not the sealing gasket to seal the rear glass. If yours is in poor condition, it's cheap and easy enough to replace to try to get a dry trunk. Check the gaskets around the trunk lid to, they may be compromised.
@@asmircar1 Butyl tape should be butyl tape, assuming the dimensions are the same. You can check Amazon or an auto parts store like Auto zone for that I would imagine.

Hey, thanks Ryan. I have to do this soon for my E39.
What about the gaskets in the inside where the window pokes out of?
I'm not sure what you're referring to.

Thanks for the kind feedback!!
