Try to locate your drive C, go to users and check the first name above public. That is your real computer name. After, try the whole process again and again it will work. Do not stop at error or access denied. Keep clicking continue till you get the result. If failed. try all over again. Patience is key.

If it didn’t work
Try changing your pc name
Then delete all the old administrator system and user from it
And add new new one after changing name
It will work
I also did the same with my WD hard drive
did not work. Made it to about 2:35 and after ticking full control, apply, get failed to enumerate objects in the container. After hitting continue a few times, error box says access denied like it did before I started.

I'm not sure how this happened, but I'm having this same problem with every external usb hard drive I plug in. I went through every step including giving permissions, updating user groups, running 'takeown' on admin command prompt, etc. I've even uninstalled every program that has updated since the error first occurred with no change. I've never seen the message "You do not have permission to view or edit this object's permission settings" before and nothing seems to change that. Also, the owner is showing as "unable to display current owner". Something seriously or permanently changed my permissions for external hard drives and there seems to be no fix available.

@@ayushpuri13 Unfortunately not. I went through every fix imaginable and decided it must have been something to do with my original network permissions conflicting with the local permissions that I controlled. I just ended up wiping the entire laptop and starting fresh. It works fine now.
